Basic steps for finding books on literary criticism in the HACC catalog.

1. Search the Catalog for Criticism

Access the Library Catalog from your
class LibGuide, or from the Library page
by selecting Books and Media, then
HACC Catalog.

3. Catalog Search - Criticism
On the Library Catalog page, select Browse Search on right.

4. Catalog Search - Criticism
Before searching, change the drop-down menu from
Author to Subject.
Why? Because you are looking for books about the author
or work, not books that were written by the person.

5. Catalog Search - Criticism
If searching for information about a writer, enter that
writer’s last name then first name.
If searching for criticism about a particular work (novel,
short story, poem…) enter the title of the work.

6. Catalog Search - Criticism
“Criticism and interpretation”
can be a very helpful category..
(The library has one book about
Criticism & Interpretation of
works by Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle.)

7. Catalog Search - Criticism
Click the holdings tab to
determine the location
and availability of the
item.
If the item is on another
campus, click Request It!
to request delivery to
your campus.
