Google advanced search, domain searching plus (oct 2013)

  1. Making the Most of a Google Search!
  2. Google Advanced Search On the Google web page, look for the advanced search option by clicking Settings in the bottom right.
  3. Google Advanced Search Enter your search terms at top. Look for the Site or Domain box. Enter either: .gov .edu (or) .org Into this box.
  4. Google Advanced Search After performing a search, notice that all of the results come from a particular type of web page. (In this case, all are from a government web page.)
  5. Domains: .com = commercial .gov = government .org = organization .edu = educational institution Selecting a particular domain as you search can sometimes result in higher quality, more appropriate web sites!
  6. Google Advanced Search You can do this without using the Advanced Search page, simply by typing your search like this!
  7. Google Advanced Search However, the advanced search offers many more options beyond just domain searching! Take advantage of these options to perform a great search!
  8. Google Advanced Search Also take advantage of options that appear in your search results that allow you to narrow your choices to by date, location, type of result (image), and much more!
