Narragansett now a year­round
home

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. — Liz Cavedon's parents bought a waterfront ranch on the
northern tip of Harbour Island in 1957, and for many years it was their family
vacation home. Today the .77­acre property is owned jointly by Cavedon and her
four siblings.
Cavedon, who used to worked in advertising and graphic design, said she had been
living in Los Angeles when she decided to move back to Rhode Island after her
father died, so she could be closer to her mother.

In 2010, the family decided to undertake an expansion and renovation of the
house to make it a year­round home for Cavedon and her mother. A former
backyard deck made way for an expanded dining room, and a second floor was
added, in the design by architect Laura D. Krekorian, who is based in Wakefield.
Today, the house has a contemporary Cape style, along with four bedrooms, four
full bathrooms, and 3,000 square feet of living space. The waterfront property has
its own dock and a full regulation­sized bocce court.
A covered front porch with pillars leads to the front door, which opens to the
spacious family room, which includes an original fieldstone fireplace. The family
room flows into the dining room, and windows offer water views in this light­filled
space.
One of Cavedon's sisters is a kitchen designer, and she helped to shape the design
of the sleek, European style kitchen. Stainless steel counters and appliances have
been matched with white Bulthaup cabinetry and wood floors. There is a storage
pantry at one end of the galley style kitchen, and a seating area at the other end, at
an L­shaped counter with a raised walnut section above the stainless steel counter.
There is a gas cooktop and stainless ventilator, along with two wall ovens. Three
windows directly above the sink look out onto the water.

The dining room and kitchen lead to an oversized mahogany deck and a stone
patio area. There is also a graveled fire pit area outside.
The first floor includes a master bedroom suite with its own private entry. This
bedroom has a walk­in closet and the nearby bathroom has a step­in shower. The
bathroom is decorated with a colorful coral­themed wallpaper with a white
background. The laundry machines are also on the first floor, along with another
room, currently used as a guest room/study, and another full bathroom.
Another master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and two large closets is on the
upper floor, along with two other bedrooms and another full bathroom. The
second floor also has a sunny sitting room with a window seat and built­in
bookshelves.
The house at 224 Wood Hill Rd., Narragansett, is priced at $1,650,000. Taxes
