▪Sport is a great way to be fit and healthy.
▪Regular physical activity is proven to help
prevent diseases such as heart disease, stroke,
diabetes and several cancers.
▪ It also helps prevent hypertension, maintain
healthy body weight and can improve mental
health, quality of life and well-being.
Regular physical
activity is one of
the most important
things you can do
for your health.
Being physically
active lowers your
risk for developing
several commonly
occurring cancers.
Staying active can help you:
▪Keep and improve your strength so
you can stay independent
▪Have more energy to do the things
you want to do and reduce fatigue
▪Improve your balance
▪Reduce levels of stress and anxiety
▪Perk up your mood and reduce
feelings of depression
Research has shown that exercise
is not only good for your physical
health, it also supports emotional
and mental health. You can
exercise with a friend and get the
added benefit of emotional
support.
Here are some exercise ideas
▪Walking, bicycling, or
dancing. Endurance activities
increase your breathing, get your
heart pumping, and boost
chemicals in your body that may
improve mood.
▪Yoga. This mind and body practice
typically combines physical
postures, breathing exercises, and
relaxation.
