40 years of Greece’s membership to the EU
“Greece-EU: stronger together for 40 years”
Benefits of our EU membership in our school.
It has been forty years since Greece joined the European Union (EU) in 1981, named at
the time European Economic Community.
Our school receives funding for European Erasmus + programs from 2017. In this way,
our school can carry out innovative actions for the organization. Especially the
programs that include mobility with students give the opportunity to the children to
experience more intensely, to work together for life and to show their potential.

By participating in the Erasmus + program, students and teachers reaped the
benefits of collaboration, group action and interdisciplinary approach to a
variety of school subjects while at the same time being given the opportunity to
exchange views with their classmates and colleagues respectively in Europe.
Visits to schools abroad help students learn about other countries 'education
systems, appreciate the value of diversity, make new friends and spend a week
with their European classmates' families trying a different way of life.
Positive impact on students:
 Positive change in the way they deal with everyday school life,
improving the relationship between student and teacher
 Cultivation of self-assessment skills
 Strengthening team spirit and teamwork
 Improving the ability to solve problems
 Strengthen communication skills and presentation skills
Positive impact on students:
 Increased sense of autonomy and initiative, development of their creative
and critical thinking
 Expanding knowledge about the European Union, common European
roots and European identity, gaining a global understanding of European
culture
 Gaining multicultural experience, awareness of the political, social and
economic problems of other countries
Positive impact on teachers:
 Acquisition of knowledge concerning the educational practices and educational
systems of other countries
 Exchange of best practices
 Creating a cooperation network for participation in future programs
 Improving their organizational skills
 Development of intercultural awareness
 Strengthening team spirit and teamwork.
 Strengthen communication / relationships between students and teachers
Positive impact on the school unit:
 Developing intercultural awareness and promoting intercultural dialogue
 School climate change
 Opening of the school to the outside world
 Improving the prestige of the school
 Strengthening the European dimension of the school
