Baraka is a poetic documentary because of the fact that it makes you think about what
it is actually saying behind all of the things which it is showing, so basically the
message behind the film and the only way that this can be seen and put across is by
poetic manipulation. Also by the way that the artist puts points across by using there
artistic expression.
David Attenborough’s frozen planet is a good example of a expository documentary
because of the fact that it has “the voice of god” which is the narrator telling us exactly
what's happening in the video/documentary, so basically it is the natural perception of
what a documentary is actually like. Lastly it offers meaning of what is actually being
shown in front of them, so it doesn’t have to be manipulated.
Hodge twins is basically a performative mode of documentary because of the fact that
they make documentaries on how they feel about things (there reaction on things). So
basically its like they are performing the documentary themselves and also by the way
they react it influences how the audience reacts to it,
Ross Kemp on gangs is a good example of a participatory documentary because of
the fact that he is also in the documentary its not all about him but he influences what
happens in it. The main reason why is because he is the director and he is the main
person in all of the documentaries by influencing and having an impact on whaat is
happening with in them.
Secret millionaire is a very good example of a reflexive documentary because of the
fact that the people featured in it are telling us about there real life and we are just
watching it from the point that they want us to see it from. Basically the documentary is
about poor people being given money by a millionaire and over and over again
throughout the show it keeps saying that’s what its about (flaunts the constructed
nature of the documentary throughout.)
