 Defining "Product Adaptation"
o Structural changes in functionality, design
interface and/or specifications of products or
services based on the local environment &
market requirements in the target country and
that are different from the original
 Adaptation/customization based on:
o Cultural considerations
o Local conditions, such as climate, weather,
environment, infrastructure etc.
o Regulatory considerations, particularly for foods
and drugs
o Reduction of price to customer by the utilization
of local components or downgrading
performance
o Establishment of beta-sites
o Security considerations, such as removal of
components requiring permission from the
Ministry of Defense

Spotlight on Product Adaptation Program
 Strategic Partners: Optional but Recommended
o The strategic partner does not necessarily have to
be involved in the R&D.
o Contribution can be in defining the market,
assisting in conforming to local standards and
regulations, making contact with potential
customers as well as establishing a beta site and
assisting in the launch of the product.
o The strategic partner may participate as a sub-
contractor and paid for any contribution that is
not available from an Israeli company.
 How to Apply:
 Option to apply with a partner via MATIMOP or
independently, directly to OCS at any time
 Possible to work in partnership with a foreign
company or as subcontractor (which is actually
recommend, but only the Israeli company itself
applies for and directly receives funding
