1. What is Stroke?
A stroke is the sudden death of
brain cells in a localized area due
to inadequate blood flow. A
stroke occurs when blood flow is
interrupted to part of the brain.
Without blood to supply oxygen
and nutrients and to remove
waste products, brain cells
quickly begin to die.

Types of Stroke
Transient ischemic attack -
Doctors also call a Transient
ischemic attack (TIA), a
warning or ministroke.
Anything that temporarily
blocks blood flow to your brain
causes a TIA. The blood clot
and TIA symptoms last for a
short period of time.
Ischemic stroke - An ischemic
stroke occurs when a blood
clot keeps blood from flowing
to your brain.
Hemorrhagic stroke - A
hemorrhagic stroke results
when a blood vessel in your
brain ruptures or breaks,
spilling blood into the
surrounding tissues.

2. Steadily change
lifestlye
Small, healthy changes in your
daily routine can decrease your
risk for stroke. Making changes is
always challenging. Your support
system such as your family and
friends or your personal doctor
can help you figure out what risk
factors you should focus on first
and set goals that you can reach.
Don’t try to change yourself
overnight.
