The Music Event At Texas Tech University
David E. Becker, the Director of Orchestral Studio, he create an event. It was a music event at Texas
Tech University; its name is University Symphonysa Orchestra at Hemmle Recital Hall, yesterday,
October 30, at 7:00 PM.
There were adults with some kids who dress up for Halloween. The students were also dressing up
for Halloween. There were also some students who dress up Halloween costumes. One of person
dresses up as Santa, which was perhaps because Jack Skellington asking for Santa's help during
Halloween! And there were a student who dresses up as Willy Wonka. She gives an honor to Late
Gene Wilder. Two directors dress up as Cub fan while other dress as Harry Potter. The music event
was start at 7:00 and there were little event before 7. I have to reach there to get my seat around
6:35. However, the audiences were almost full! I was not able to find seat, but thankful I found a
seat. The recital hall looks standard with some organs with many pipes. It would be seems fit if they
add the Halloween stuff for this Halloween music event. And it could help me to understand and feel
the emotion when I listen music with the light effects.
I could able to understand better if there were add some light effects to help me to know what the
mood they use for their music while they playing the music.
First music, the beginning sounds were quickly louder and then it turns into soft. The background
sounds were slowly as how the drumming does. It is sound like drumming when they have

Piano Lessons At The Age Of 6
Music, in one way or another, is a part of everyone's life, whether it is listening to music when
travelling or learning how to play a musical instrument (Stutz). Beginning piano lessons at the age
of 6, I have developed a passion for music and find it to be a way to escape from a hectic life. A
requirement of the Royal Conservatory of Music, a corporation that runs exams to test the ability of
music students, is to learn music history, and during the course, I was amazed at the fact that when
two instruments, for example the flute and oboe, play the same note, they sound entirely different.
The difference in sounds can even be heard in instruments that are similar in nature, for instance, the
piano and the keyboard. When practicing piano pieces for exams or piano festivals, I go online to
listen to the interpretations of others for inspiration. I usually find videos of people playing a piano,
but sometimes there are people playing a keyboard. What surprised me was that the sounds of the
keyboard and the piano were entirely different, and this difference was especially noticeable
practicing for a performance. The practice room only contained a keyboard, and after playing the
keyboard, I realized that the music sounded much emptier compared to a piano. That got me to
wonder, what makes two instruments sound entirely different, even when playing the same note?
From comparing sounds from the keyboard and piano, I came to a conclusion that even though the
two instruments are

My Thoughts On Chapter 9
This essay will reflect my thoughts on chapter 9. In brief this chapter deals with how the ears allow
us to be able to hear and process sound. When I first think of sound I think of the frequency. This
makes me think of songs that I listen too in order to determine it 's a high frequency or a low
frequency. I 'll be able to determine the amount of hertz that are in songs on the radio. I do feel that
it would be hard to determine because most of that music is reordered, hearing people sing a
cappella would be easier to determine the amount of hertz present. I know what hertz are, but I 'm
still not sure how they are actually determined? Are they sounds just determined by our brain if we
have unimpaired hearing. How would someone like my brother with a whole in his ear be able to
determine frequency? When I think about pitch the first things come to mind are instruments. This
reminds me in middle school if you wanted to a part of the band, you got to test each instrument. I
always had a fascinating with a flute, which had high a frequency and high pitch. Another
instrument was a trombone; this had a low frequency and low pitch. This helped me understand the
difference between pitches. I also think about how humans and animals hear different frequencies.
Someone my age in there 20 's would be able to hear the door bell ring, while someone in there 70 's
may not hear it. This measures how over time our frequencies can. A dog on the other hand can hear
very high–pitched

How Communication Is Influenced By Varieties Of...
Our communication is influenced by varieties of circumstances and people. However, the most
important thing which affects our communication is our backpack, which means the environment
that we raised in. we carry this backpack every time when we communicate with others, so in this
essay I am going to demonstrate my interpersonal communication behavior. First of all, I am going
to demonstrate what about my communication is unique to my specific circumstances. The way of
communication is different when I was talking with Americans and Japanese. Whenever I talk with
American people, I try to be more open mind. Since I came here in NDSU, I have a lot of
opportunities to communicate with Americans. I realized that Americans are so friendly, so I made
effort to adapt American culture. Instead of that, when I communicate with Japanese people, I will
be more shy. In my experiences, Japanese people tend to do not like the too friendly people at the
first time. Thus, I pay attention to not so be friendly for Japanese during the ice breaker. As a result,
when I communicate with Japanese, I will be like a coconuts. It means that the first time is
unfriendly like the shell of coconuts but the inside is very sweet and flexible. Instead, when I
communicate with American, I am like a peach. The surface of peach is very soft but it has a hard
core, so as a similar as peach, I can be more friendly but it is hard to show people how do I feel and
think honestly. Moreover, when I am

Communication Is An Important Part Of Lives
Communication Challenges Communication is an important part of lives. Unfortunately, not all of
us are blessed with good communication skills. Poor communication can cause conflicts in our
personal and professional lives. However, good communication will strengthen relationships and
lead to success both personally and professionally. A little over a year ago, I went to the eye doctor
for my yearly exam; I told him that I was having trouble reading things up close. Much to my
surprise my vision had improved and my contacts were just too strong. Before I left, we talked about
ordering new contacts and new glasses since my prescription had changed. A month later I called
my eye doctor's office to see if my new contacts had come in since I had not heard from them.
It seems that Dr. Thomason and I had a miscommunication, he thought I was coming back to pick
out glasses when he received some new frames and I thought he was ordering contacts and I was
coming back to look at the new frames when they came in. This is just one example of how poor
communication can cause problems.
In this case we were both guilty of not listening or hearing only what we want to. Poor listening can
lead to many problems. Unfortunately, even when we are good listeners there can still be
communication problems. Sometimes it is difficult to understand what the speaker is saying. There
were a lot of times at my former job when my boss was telling me something and I did not know
what he was talking

How Can Different Methods of Listening to Music Have an...
Research Question: How can different methods of listening to music have an effect on the
transmission of musical sinusoidal waves? Introduction:
Music is a universal language. It is a part of culture that has been around for thousands of years,
dating back to the first recorded German flutist 40,000 years ago during the Stone Age. Lyrics and
sounds can be understood and interpreted independently, but it is how humans are able to take in
these sounds and interpret them that is often misunderstood. The biological and psychological
aspects of this process play an imperative role, including the idea that our hearing systems are based
solely on the cerebellum and physical movement, rather than chemical reactions which usually
evoke our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such efficiency will be determined by measuring the frequencies of songs using sine waves, the
volume at which a genre of music should be played can be understood. Efficiency is fully dependent
on atmospheric conditions, such as pressure. Using the sine function will help to analyze the
frequency in relation to the period, amplitude, and any possible shifts that may have an influence on
the production and receiving of music.
First, I will be using an EQu device to measure frequency (dB). This is considered the "original
source." Measurements of the frequencies are represented as sine waves, beginning at the 0
(indicated by the green line):
By doing so, the frequency, amplitude, and pitch can be analyzed. The frequency measures how fast
something vibrates, the amplitude measures how much something vibrates, and the pitch shows how
high or low the music can be perceived.

Waiting For The Locksmith At Two On A Monday Afternoon Poem
Poetry Critique: "Waiting for the Locksmith at Two on a Monday Afternoon" The poem "Waiting for
the Locksmith at Two on a Monday Afternoon" talks about the insecurities and shames that people
tend to hide or lock within themselves. Barring one line, the poem does an excellent job in
conveying its theme through its consistent usage of images. The vividness of said images and
figures of speech also add to the overall effect and appeal of the poem. First, the poem is consistent
when it comes to its usage of images. The poem repeatedly makes use of locked rooms in order to
take a peek at the inner mechanisms of the mind. Each locked room is representative of the different
doubts, insecurities, and/or urges that one tries to repress and hide from ... Show more content on

Edgar Samar. It follows the story of Janus Silang as his entire life is dismantled by the revelation
that the monsters from Philippine folklore are real and are hunting him down. This book has
managed to rekindle my love of Philippine literature and I wholly recommend reading this. The
book manages to hook its readers through the realistic and well–written characters, the extensive
and immersive world building, and the entertaining and heartbreaking writing style of the author.
First, the book is full of realistic and well–written characters. Janus Silang, the character, is written
as a normal teenager and can be related and sympathized with easily. However, by the end of the
book Janus manages to undergo so much growth and development that he's practically a different
person from the Janus we met in Chapter 1. From the way he talks, thinks, and acts, one can see how
much he's changed from the start of the book, and yet these changes felt natural with the way the
story was written. Even the minor characters, such as Janus's parents, his love interest, and his sister,
gain some form of development; not enough to overshadow and bog down the plot, but just enough
to flesh out and get a feel for their character. All the characters feel real and natural, and it makes it
easy to form attachments to them, which allows for

Recording Techniques for Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon
Recording techniques for Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon
The album The Dark Side of the Moon, by Pink Floyd was an album that pushed the boundaries on
multi–tracking and tape looping, as well as mixing in1973. The engineer, Alan Parsons, use many
unusual techniques to help create the sound that we know and love. Which landed the album on the
charts for 750 weeks. Dark side of the moon was first lead engineering job Alan had with Pink
Floyd and only took a year to record.
To record this album an EMI console, a 16–track tape machine, a Fairchild limiters, and an EMT
plate reverb were used. There were also up to five or six tape machines doing various delays, reverb
delays, ect. at one time. Alan remembers "on the mix having to ... Show more content on

The first song I will talk about is " Speak to Me" in the opening of the song there is a heartbeat this
was done with a heavy gated bass drum. Alan used Kepex noise gates, which were new technology
at the time. The band also thought it was a nice idea to have some speech throughout the record. So
they recorded people answering questions off a stack note cards. Then Alan placed the voices in
later where the band felt it appropriate. (Classic Albums: The Making of The Dark Side of the
Moon)
The next song I will talk about "Time". When recording this song many unique techniques were
used for the time. Alan suggested to the band the idea of using real clocks. He made stereo
recordings in an antique clock shop. Using a portable tape machine he record each clock one at a
time. Then he put them together on the multitrack tape by back–timeing the quarter inch originals
that he had and starting that next one on time until they were all layer together. (Classic Albums:
The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon)
I think the clocks are a very important component to the song. It was surprising to me to find out
that it was Alan's suggestion. This just goes to show that the band trusted his creativity and
engineering skills.
The song opens with a heavily gated bass line, this was done live many times before the recording,
but it was the new gating technology that was mentioned earlier that allowed them to get the tick

Advantage and Disadvantage of Telecommunication
Communicating with patients
The New Medicine Service (and MURs) provides a formal opportunity for pharmacists to
communicate with patients on a one–to–one basis about their medicines and underlying medical
condition(s). The
NMS permits the interventions to be done either as a face–to–face appointment or via telephone.
Careful consideration must be given as to which of these communication methods is adopted by the
pharmacy as each method brings its own advantages and disadvantages. Although face–to–face
communication would be the preferred method of conducting an intervention, it is likely that
telephone interventions will be used by most pharmacies at some stage. This brief guide will help

The first three seconds of a phone call are important, as this is when the other person makes a
judgement about the caller.
When making an outgoing call listen to the pitch, speed, volume and tone of the other person's voice
when they first speak and try to "match" it. Matching is a good way of building rapport, which can
otherwise be difficult over the telephone, and makes the other person feel more comfortable.

I Feel That This Assessment Overall Went Pretty Well
I feel that this assessment overall went pretty well. Miss. S. had me work with three students
individually, and these students ranged from high performance to low performance. I thought this
was a good choice so I could experience difference between the different developmental levels of
the students. I performed the assessment on October 14th of 2016, in Miss. S's classroom during the
student's free choice time. Of the three students that participated, one of the students receives speech
therapy. The first student that I assessed was Child 1, and he doesn't receive extra services.
Johnathan did really well overall, but did struggle with some words. I feel that Johnathan could have
taken his time more and really focused on sounding the words out before saying what he thought
they were. I did noticed that the mixed up and mistaken some of the vowels. When I performed the
spelling test at the end, Johnathan had trouble with the word you. When he started to spell the word
he started with "OU," but then he corrected himself and spelt the word correctly. I still marked the
word as incorrect since he started spelling the word wrong. The second student that I assessed was
Child 2, and he receives speech therapy. I didn't complete the assessment because Derek was
struggling and wasn't close to saying the words that I was pointing to. When saying some of the
words he was either correct or very close. With some of the words he was questioning himself

A Dad Hears a Terrified Scream in the Parking Lot. When He Spots Her, She Says Three Words.
Summary:
Everyone who has ever had kids knows what it's like to have a late night trip to the grocery store.
One dad's trip took a shocking turn as he heard a blood–curdling scream in the parking lot.
Introduction:
Ty Zerby had three children, so it seemed like he was constantly buying milk and picking things up
at the store. Tonight, the entire family decided to have a movie night together. Unfortunately, Ty
forgot to pick up popcorn and candy for the family night. Before the movie could start, he needed to
go back to the grocery store to get the snacks. Unfortunately, his innocent trip to the grocery store
was about to take a terrifying turn.

Main:
As Ty drove into the parking lot, he thought he heard some weird sounds. When he looked around,
he did not see anything. Parking his car, he tried to shake off the eery feeling that was coursing
through his body. He kept looking around the parking lot as he walked into the store, but he did not
see anything.
In the store, Ty quickly found what he needed. He spent an extra 15 minutes inside because the
cashier was a friend from high school. Realizing the time, he said good–bye and went back to the
parking lot.

Analysis Of Emily Dickinson 's ' I Felt A Funeral
In this poem "I Felt a Funeral, in My Brain", Emily Dickinson seems to be suffering a traumatic
experience or situation at that time, difficult to control inside her brain. She attempts to explain this
painful emotion through this poem using a variety of literary techniques that include metaphor,
symbolism, personification and others. It is clear that Dickinson is not using her sense of reasoning
in this poem, she seems gone from the world around her, as if her mind state is deteriorating and she
is going from sanity to insanity. From my point of view of the poem, Emily seems to be trying to
convey readers her own tragic experience from the perspective of a dead person that is still able to
use some of her senses and is conscious the whole time narrating the poem inside a coffin. However,
it 's still not clear whether the speaker is living or dead, but she is definitely afraid and disturbed of
what will happen when she finally loses her sanity. In the first line, "I felt a funeral, in my brain /
And Mourners to and fro", the speaker imagines a funeral inside her brain and feels mourners going
back and forth, which could mean that her thoughts are full of sorrow and her mind is going crazy.
One interesting thing I saw in this poem is that the speaker does not want readers to think that she is
comparing her feelings to a funeral. She does not say "It felt like a funeral, in my brain" instead she
says "I felt a funeral, in my brain". Changing this part would give readers a

Some More Facts About Pediatric Speech Therapy
Some more facts about pediatric speech therapy The parents need to be very observant when it
comes to noticing the all over development of the child. Many times the parents get too upset about
the child's development regarding his responding to the various sounds and noises. Child specialists
say that it is crucial for the child to respond to any conversation or sound in children speech therapy.
In many cases, the parents are not able to detect defects in the speech of the child. By the time they
realize it may be too late. In the case of such problems and defects, the first point is that the parents
should not panic. They have to handle the whole situation with a lot of patience. They should
immediately consult a child expert who works on pediatric speech therapy. Any speech oriented
problem can be cured. But that shall take time. One cannot lose patience.
The critical developmental stages of children can be categorized into too many stages. They mark
major junctures of the child's development regarding the baby's maturity. The children
developmental stages range according to age. At this juncture, they have to acquire consultation
from some physician or child specialist who can give them the solution accordingly. They do not
want to falter or create risk for the child regarding health. These tender stages need guidance and
proper tutoring when it comes to cognitive development. One needs to provide them the best

1. THE INTRODUCTION
I've listened to a lot of music in my 514,561,058 seconds of life.
Of course the beginning first few years of my life did not consistent of heavy articulation and
rhythm interpretation, rather it was to see if I could sing back the ABC's or mumble the Arthur
theme song to my sister.
Most of the music influence I have was harvested back when I was eleven. I listened to a wide
variety of genres of music from pop, to rock, to rap, to country, to concert band music, even to
Bollywood music as that's what would be playing in my home as my mom cooked food for all of us.
The audio quality of the music always interested me. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I learned the correlation between blowing into an instrument and the sounds that come out.
This really changed my perception about music. I found myself enjoying the classical music that I
would be playing on my clarinet, but I always kept it in correlation with the new sounds and
technology music was sounding like. The new electronic based sounds created on the computer with
the melodies and movement like a classical piece set that a part for me. I think this was generated by
sounds from Kanye West and his albums such as Graduation, and 808s & Heartbreaks, even the
blending of genres from Coldplay between pop tunes and classical music using implications such as
organs, bells, and synthesizers in doing so.
So what I ended up learning and continue to learn is I that like music really no matter what
condition it comes in. The examination of the work that takes place behind it demonstrates more
than what someone on the internet can tell me about how bad an album is or how weak the lyrics
are. Of course there's some analysis if a song is deemed as good or bad, but I always respect the
work that is done in order to produce music.
2. WHY I'M DOING THIS?

into doing this, but when the opportunity came, I decided to take it. My computer science teacher,

New Forms Of Architecture Developed During The Renaissance...
Architecture is a significant topic when looking at historical shifts of time periods, especially when
looking at the artistic shifts that occurred in the transition from the Medieval period into the
Renaissance. New forms of architecture are considered one of the most important achievements that
formed during the renaissance era. The form of architecture developed during this period mainly
originated from Greek and Roman styles. These reappearing ideas became present in modern times
in many different ways. Many architects such as Bartolommeo Bandinelli would design dome
creations used mainly in the cathedrals of Florence. Not only were these domes larger and more
extravagant than ever before, they were engineered in a way that their acoustics are still being
studied and replicated today. The exterior elements of the Renaissance era domes were considered to
be impressive artistically, but the interior elements were unique to many as well. Looking at such
buildings today, you can see the detailed work that had been put in for many years in order to create
such a beautiful building. The acoustics inside the dome were carefully crafted and incorporated into
the structure of the dome itself, in order to enhance the ability for a crowd to hear. The acoustics of
many theaters in Italy were designed to enhance the hearing for the varieties of music that were
performed during these times. The Renaissance introduced the use of "polyphony", which is a
multilayered faster type of

Sound Recording, Its History And Impact On Media In The 21st Century
On this essay I will try to show how Sound Recording impacts media in the 21st century. But in
order for me to do that I will need to explore the history of Sound Recording, which started in the
19th Century.
Before 1877 sound could be recorded but not played. That year Thomas Alva Edison invented the
talking tin foil, also known as the phonograph (voice – writer), which enabled sound to be played
back (the first speech to be recorded and played back was the poem by Sarah Josepha Hale (1830)
'Mary had a little lamb', which, unfortunately "was not preserved, but in 1927, Edison re–enacted

waltzes, polkas, cakewalks, and so on. Yet the most famous leader of such a band, John Philip
Sousa, had doubts about the phonograph and publicly denounced recordings as inferior to live
music. Thus began a decades–long campaign against recorded music, sponsored by a succession of
music critics, social theorists, and musicians.
As one of those social theorists has argued, the real significance of the early phonograph was that it
transformed the way people listened to music. Where once music was a unique, live performance,
experienced in a public place with a group, now it was heard privately in the home and it was
possible to hear the same "performance" over and over. According to this argument, the listening
experience was cheapened." Recording History.org(?)
Music was available almost anywhere, any time so people, in theory, would be exposed to a wider
selection of music, which, some people believed, would result in a social uplift process. However in
the United States and Europe most people kept buying popular music instead of what reformers
called "good" music. "Good" music started being advertised more heavily, by companies like Victor,
Columbia and Edison's, by offering a wider variety of "good" music in their catalogs.
"Historians have also countered the argument that the phonograph degraded musical taste by noting

This Song Is Composed By Nujabes And Performed By Cise...
This song is composed by Nujabes and performed by Cise Starr and Akin. The composer himself is
very accomplished, influencing an entire genre of music. This song is very rhythmic and has
identifiable beats. The song has a message that I hold with high regard, as I share the beliefs of the
composer. It is the first track in one of my favourite albums Modal Soul. It also references one of
my favourite books Flowers for Algernon.
The smooth blend of jazz and hip hop instrumentals as well as the melodic tune of the piano,
complemented by the rough voices of Cise Starr and Akin make this song very enjoyable. Having
listened to many of his other songs, I highly admire Nujabes for his deep commitment to his craft
and his ability to produce beautiful music that combines multiple genres. In many of his other songs,
hip hop beats are also often blended with jazz influences to create a mellow atmospheric sound.
Moreover, I also admire Nujabes for contributing to the original soundtrack of my favorite show,
Samurai Champloo.
We chose to analyze this song because we felt it presented an uplifting, yet complex and unique take
on how people should strive to live their lives in this complicated world.
Meaning – This song is about being able to achieve spiritual harmony regardless of the

Theme Of Mending Wall And Birches
To know the meaning of these two poems, "Mending Wall" and "Birches", we first must understand
what are these poems about on a literal level. "Mending Wall" tells about the story of a rock wall,
that is build to separate two properties (the speaker and his neighbor) in the countryside, and
something is always destroying it. On the other hand, we have the poem of "Birches" and the
speaker talks about how he does not like how the birches bend because of the storm so he imagines
that children are the ones who climb the birch tree as high as they can and then when they have
reached the point where the birch can support their weight any more, they bend the birch because
the kick their legs and pull the tree down to one side. With this information we can discuss and try to

In the poem of "Mending Wall", Frost uses sound to enrich and enhances his theme/meaning of the
poem. He writes in a soft and harmonious way, almost in a reflective tone. He enriches more his
theme of separation/barrier–building to give empathy towards the speaker and the way he asks
himself, why is the stonewall still there separating both the speaker and his neighbor. "Before I built
a Wall/I'd ask to know/What I was walling in or walling out,/And to whom I was like to give
offense." However, there is the implication that something even deeper is going on and Frost uses a
harsh tone for it. When he inscribes a certain type of "dialogue" between the speaker and his
neighbor, the neighbor's response is very harsh and discordant. "My apple trees will never get
across/And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him/He only says/Good fences make good
neighbors". With this response the reader can connect with the speaker and see how harsh the
speaker's neighbor response is. Here we can see the theme of this poem is that a respectful distance
between neighbors is the recipe for harmonious relationships: 'Good fences make good neighbors'.

The National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorder calculates that about 2
percent of older adults have disabling hearing loss. The NIDC uses the decible of hearing loss at 35

As defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) the term elderly or aged refers to persons aged
60 years or above. These statistic are ever changing and will continue to increase as people are
living longer and will continue to live longer. As a person ages its normal to lose some of the

deficiency can get worse over time. Most people with presbycusis just lose the ability to hear at a
higher tone. This makes it harder to understand others speech. In order to understand how this
affects people we must first understand how sound travels through the ear into the brain.
The ear is made up of three parts: the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear. The outer ear is
responsible for collecting the sound wave, the middle ear increases the sound energy and transmits
the sound to the inner ear and finally the inner ear transforms the sound waves into nerve impulses
and sends them to the brain. When the sound wave passes the ear canal there is a vibration in the
eardrum which affects 3

Angle Of Vision Analysis : Blissful Chicken Coop
Blissful Chicken Coop The rustic chicken coop was lively with 16 little chickens. Fresh air and
garden fertilizer filled the coop. All day the chickens play and nibble on their meals, laying little
eggs in their cozy nests. Inside the coop creative spiders knit crafty and beautiful webs, while dogs
and cats walk around and watch the adventurous birds wander. Memories flow back at the sight of
childhood bikes and toys. Through the building the sound of rustling leaves and chickens clucking
softly becomes a soothing sound.
Disgusting and Filthy Shed The old broken down chicken shack is filled with 16 dirty chickens. The
smell of manure and the dusty air overtake the chicken shed. All day they pester each other and
destroy their food, laying dirty eggs in their nests. The dogs and cats restlessly circle the cage like
hungry wolves, watching the chickens go berserk, while inside the shed creepy spiders spin sticky
thick webs. Horrible memories appear at the sight of dusty and wrecked bikes and toys. The sound
of chickens squawking and scratching leaves becomes a wretched sound.

The Importance Of Enjoying Hi-Res Audio
Hi–Res audio is just a fancy way of saying that the music is at a high resolution to provide the
nuances of sound that the artist intended. Enjoying high–quality audio is something that can be done
at home and which only requires a minimal adding to of the components already found in your
home theater in order to enjoy a superior quality sound that will make new titles, as well as old
favorites sound impressive.
So you're sold on the idea, but what has to be set up to make it happen? Here's what is needed in
order to be able to enjoy Hi–Res audio.
THE AUDIO PLAYER
Because Hi–Res audio files are digital, the audio player must be too. So that means the player will

Call And Response ( Whole Class )
BEAT, RHYTHM & PITCH
Activity:
Call & response (Whole class)
Instrumental composition (small group of 3)
Obi sana sa nana (Whole class)
Play with instrument – Ukulele
Today:
The lesson was focused on learning the beat and rhythm. "Beat is the basic unit of time, the pulse, of
the mensural level" (World ebook library, 2016). The beat is constant and repetitive, for example,
the heartbeat or a clock movement noise. On the other hand, rhythm consists of the pattern that is a
mixture of sound and silence.
Our Art professor highlights the focus of this course with three main Performing Arts: Music,
Drama, and Dance. Every Arts teacher requires pedagogical approach in order to make learning art
effective. Fiona introduces to us 2 ways as strategies to draw a better picture for students to
understand Beat and Rhythm better, which are: Body Percussion and Instrumental composition. In
music, Body Percussion [Figure 1] refers to using oneself body as an instrument. One's can hit on
their chest and make a 'boom' sound, or tap on their legs, or flick their fingers to make a 'snap' etc...
A teacher could introduce their students to a 4/4 beat by using Body Percussion strategy and play a
make–up pattern, such as Boom, snap, tap, stop, boom, boom, snap tap.
Another strategy that can become handy is Instrumental composition. Fiona asked everyone to
choose one untuned percussion and create any sound within a 4/4 beat. Everyone was giving a
chance to be creative and we

Relationship Between Place And Music And The Song ' Inglan...
The objective of this paper is to examine the relationship between place and music and analyze the
song "Inglan is a Bitch" by Linton Kwesi Johnson in terms of place. "Inglan is a Bitch" exemplifies
the link between music and place through its lyrics and sound. First I am going to define cultural
geography and discuss how culture is linked to place. Then I will explain local music spaces and
why music has a strong sense of place. Next I will analyze how "Inglan is a Bitch" relates to place.
After, I will finish with an overall conclusion. I will be exploring these topics through the readings
of Knox and Marston, Connell and Gibson and finally, Watson, Holyer and Mager supplemented by
Lecture notes.
According to Knox and Marston, culture produces a shared set of meanings and practices, while
geography is the place in which groups shape those meanings and practices and "in the process form
an identity" (Knox and Marston 2016, 155). Cultural Geography focuses on the way space, place
and landscape shape culture at the same time that culture shapes space, place, and landscape" (Knox
and Marston 2016, 155). Cultural geography examines cultural traits, cultural complexes, and
cultural regions. (Rutherford 2016). It is a way to understand both landscape and human settlement
patterns (Rutherford 2016).
In the reading Sounds and Scenes, authors Connell and Gibson suggest that a local music space is a
specific place that produces a distinct sound (Connell and Gibson 2003, 90). The

Creative Thinking Job With Google
I am prepared for a creative thinking job with google, working on the Google Home because of the
skills that I developed through my technical communication class. In LMC 3403 I expanded my
knowledge on technical communication and continued to grow as an individual. I learned a lot about
a different types of voice personas and the characteristics of sound interfaces. Perhaps the biggest
takeaway in the class for me came through the development of my groups own sound interface. We
were forced to focus on the user interaction and really think about the characteristics that the voice
would possess, including the details that go into a voice persona like Siri, Alexa, and the Google
Home.
During LMC 3403 I acquired a foundational vocabulary for discussing and analyzing sounds,
voices, and modes of listening through the work done on my blog post. I learned about soundscapes
and how the use of tempo, pitch, and intensity create different emotions; contribute to the overall
goal of the environment. For instance take a weight room and library for instance. The goal of a
weight room is to give high levels of effort and physical effort. So you may have loud intense music
playing, this gets the blood going. You also may here the low grunts of other athletes exerting their
efforts. This creates an environment of hard work and motivates you to work harder. Now take a
library for example you may here the low hum of the air conditioner, the thuds of books going back

Interprofessional Communication in Healthcare

Also, there are hardly communication barriers between them. Accordingly, this could be explained
that they had a completely handover performance as a result of effective inter–professional
communication and collaboration in order to optimise patient's outcome. Initially, I questioned
myself whether I might have reflective practice skills like two clinicians when conducting a clinical
process appropriately in the inter–professional communication environment. Although I could
possess these characteristics as my personality trait, I realize that there is a gap of cognitive
knowledge to meet effective communication strategies in professional practice. Apparently, as a first
year nursing student, I have not sufficiently developed my ability to perform assertive and active
listening skills like them. As the pregnancy related stroke case is to threaten the safety for Sally and
her baby, there should have proper characteristics of teamwork communication to cooperate
adequately. However, I could not manage my voice and body posture calmly, relaxed if I encounter

Sound consists of oscillating waves of compression and decompression of a transmitting medium
i.e. air or water, traveling at a fixed velocity (Støylen, 2015). The frequency of sound waves refers to
the number oscillations per second, with one cycle per second is considered a unit of 1 hertz
(Henderson, 2014). Sound waves oscillating above 20,000 Hz are categorised as ultrasound waves.
As sound waves are a transverse wave forms this means the only variant is its frequency and
wavelength despite the location in the spectrum. The wavelength is defined as the distance travelled
by sound in one cycle, or the distance between two identical points in the wave cycle i.e. the
distance from each oscillation (Cura Rodríguez, Seguí and Nicolau, 2012). In regards to wave forms
the wavelength shows very little significance as it is inversely proportional to frequency.
In reference to the structure a waveform, the significance of the wavelength is one of the main
factors affecting the resolution of an ultrasound image, this is because smaller wavelengths (higher
frequency) are absorbed more by soft tissue. This variable absorption rate with structures of
different impedances allows distinctive structures to be clearly represented. In echocardiography, the
wavelengths are often manipulated in order to view deeper structures within the patient but
compromising with resolution. In principle of

John Cage Is The Epitome Of A Cutting Edge Composer
John cage is the epitome of a cutting edge composer. This is due to the fact that cage has achieved
an appreciation for music which is unmatched by any other composer. Cage enjoys sounds because
of their dynamics and their lengths, something other composers usually overlook. This gives him the
advantage to compose music in a unique manner; he can make music that is unmatched by others.
This is what undoubtedly makes him one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. One
significant reason why cage is considered unique is because of his experimentation with unorthodox
instruments such as the prepared piano and tape recorder. This was in efforts to break the musical
boundaries of traditional music in the west, this style was a change from his traditional musical
styles early on in his career, which were more alike to his mentors and followed more of 12–tone
style. The ideas brought forward by cage made him more of a philosopher than a composer, he
broke the normal role of a composer by encouraging people to focus on sounds rather than music
and by promoting eastern philosophies, specifically Zen Buddhism. He has extended his teachings
for years to come after his death by publishing many books such as "silence" and "lectures and
writings". Cage always placed an emphasis on the ideas conveyed by his music more than how they
sounded, for example cage composed a piece in which the performers are silent, only with ambient
sounds in the background. This goes to show

The Importance Of Listening And Deep Listening
It is inevitable to be surrounded by sounds. No matter where you go, there will never be a place
without sound. This is precisely why causal and deep listening are both necessary skills to have. In
my paper I will address the theme of how deep listening makes us better understand the world and
the importance of adhering to both causal listening and deep listening. I intend to show that by
analyzing the differences in causal listening and deep listening and by referencing the works of
Hendy, Chion, and Novak, as well as my own personal experiences.
The actual process of deep listening is a difficult task. However, when done right, it opens up a
world full of sounds. One thing to establish before moving on is that deep listening, also known as
reduced listening, is very different than causal listening. To further define it, "reduced listening is
the listening mode that focuses on the traits of the sound itself, independent of its cause and of its
meaning" (Chion). In other words, reduced listening is something that we have to forcefully enact. It
is not commonly implemented in our daily lives, and oftentimes, it takes a very trained ear to do so.
Listening solely for the purpose of analyzing sound, and sound alone is no easy task. For example, it
was very hard to differentiate sounds during my assignment. I over–generalized most things, and
needed a visual representation to comprehend most sounds.
On the other hand, causal listening "consists of listening to a sound in order

Whilst listening to the 7 takes I noticed several issues, Two takes were cut short, take 7 had missing
percussion and other sections was not solid. choosing take 6 as the main backbone take as it had the
least problems. However, I did encounter issues such as the section when the drums drop out for a
couple crochets after the 4X4 rhythm when the cymbals come in for second time, had to be comped
from take 5 as there was timing problems and sound like the tempo slowed down (clanging). The
section after which is the trombone solo, I had comped from take 7 due to timing issues and was not
keen on tone, groove and character the trombone was playing. Take 6 DJ scratching intro was
replaced by take 1 as I felt it was more complete and fitted well. I had decided not to use, Drum
Room L+R as the drums were recorded in a booth and the booth ambience was not that great to my
ear. Sousaphone Room L was pushing the presence of the sousaphone to far to the left, unbalancing
the stereo image. Also the sousaphones role in this track is the bass in which I feel should be more
central as it is the weighted anchor of the mix (most emphasis). The reverb plate had too much
circuitry noise in which cluttered the mix, I could have noise gated the plate although I did not like
the character and the sound it was producing. Percussion Close, Bongo R & Conga L I had removed
due too much energy to the percussion and I had favoured the overhead capturing of the percussion.
Using Bongo L and Conga R had helped me to create more separation within the stereo field. I
prefered the compressed vocal take which Kris Burton had

Graduation Speech
I was always particularly early getting to class, but today I was running a little late. I shifted my

grade hallway. I skipped into the class room with just enough time to take my seat as the teacher
began to take roll. The teacher managed to get the room quiet enough to tell us that we were
expecting a guest speaker that morning. "Perfect timing! Here he is now." As she finished telling us
his name he reached the doorway and knocked rhythmically on its frame. He waddled up to the front
of the room and introduced himself with the biggest smile on his face. "Hey guys I 'm Mr.
Womack!" He was a short fat man with patches of thin brown hair lining the sides of his head. "I am
the band director at the middle school, and I am here to talk to you guys about joining band!" I
perked up from my typical 'slid down in the bottom of my seat ' posture so I could pay more
attention to what he had to say. "Has anyone ever had a family member play a musical instrument?"
He looked around the room filled with wide eyed fifth graders squirming in their seats half listening.
I wanted to pipe up from my small blue desk to say I have, but I was so painfully shy it made that
action almost impossible to preform. After what seemed like forever he dismissed his question and
moved onto the next. "Would anyone be interested in playing an instrument in the middle school

An Explanation Of 8 Notes Synth Sequence In Music
Of course that 8 notes synth sequence is the key component of this song, but there are way more
technologies that are used in this song.
Synthi AKS synthesiser came out just a year before this album's recording, and this synthesizer was
used to play the 8 note sequence. A white noise was also added on this to created hi–hut kind of
sound.
Another synth that stands out in this track is VCS 3 (voltage controlled studio 3) which came out in
1969. Not like the Synthi AKS, they used this synth to create a sound effect. Using its oscillators,
filter, noise generator and sequencer, they created a sound effect like vehicles, or perhaps airplanes,

Hearing Loss At The University Of New South Wales
Hearing loss is problem that can occur anywhere, one of the most common places where this can
occur is at a concert. Scientist at the University of New South Wales in Australia believe that short–
term hearing loss after being exposed to loud excessive noise is most likely the body's way of
coping with the situation. This defensive mechanism cannot cope or protect the ear with high
frequency noise, which could by caused by listening to loud music through headphones.
It is not the acute exposure but the continuous noise expose especially that of a high frequency that
can cause difficulties later on in someone's life. Our ears can adapt to loud noise or frequencies but
even then, like everything else they have their limits and when you exceed those limits, it can lead to
very negative outcomes.
Hearing loss can occur at any age, but this mostly affect children and young adults. Approximately
15 percent of Americans between the ages of 20 and 69, 26 million Americans have some form of
hearing loss due to high exposure occurring in places of work or recreational activities. About 16%
of teens have experience some form of hearing loss caused by loud noise according to a 2010 report
based on a survey from the centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC). Everything we hear in
our everyday lives has a decibel range, which it shows how loud the noise is. Such as the humming
of a refrigerator is 45 decibels, normal conversation is 60 decibels, an mp3 player at maximum

Galton 's Whistle Or The Silent Whistle
Most people are often fond of whistling. Some would even turn around to see if they are the ones
being called if someone whistles. However, no matter how clear whistling to our ears can be, there
are moments when we cannot hear it, such is a case of a dog whistle. Believe it or not, dog whistle
that only dogs can hear really occurs. In this very scenario, it is safe to say that dogs have better
auditory receptors compared to humans like us.
Galton's whistle
There was a special whistle for dogs made by Francis Galton way back in 1876 called the Galton's
whistle or the silent whistle. This whistle for dogs emits sound in the ultrasonic range. People will
not be able to hear these sounds, however, animals such as dogs and cats can. The whistle has been
used by people and trainers to practice and coach their lovely pets.
Galton's whistle has been featured in his book, the Inquiries into Human Faculty and its
Development where he pointed out experiments that can test the range of frequencies heard by
different animals.
Dog whistle that only dogs can hear
In today's time, the frequency of most dog whistles is between 23 to 54 kHz. Humans will not be
able to hear them because the maximum range of a human hearing for children is about 20 kHz, and
between 15–17 kHz for middle–aged adults. Meanwhile, the dog's hearing range can reach up to a
maximum of 45 kHZ. Thus, dog whistle that only dogs can hear is pretty much not for humans.
To a human ear, a dog whistle may only be perceived

How Has Walt Disney Made Used In Disney Films?
Many people have experienced Disney in one shape or another in their lifetime. Whether it was the

individuals, however, do not realize all the technology and effort involved in making a mere ten

technology for Disney productions has come. It is of no surprise that Walt Disney Studios is the role

Communication Skills Essay
Communication Skills
Communication skills are all around us, from the day we are born until the rest of our lives. How
many times have you seen communication skills required for a job in the classifieds and wonder
what it actually means. A communication skill is some type of skill used in communication, From
talking, body language to even listening. Many things can effect the way one can convey his or her
communication skills to others. All of these skills are very personnel to one another. Everyone has
different ways of expressing some kind of communication skill within them.
One communication skill is speaking, by far one of the most important skill we posses. To be a good
speaker one must be able to convey ideas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Body language conveys a lot of expression to are inner feelings and thoughts.
Body language can show many things about you and the way you think. It can also show the way a
person reacts to what you try to convey to them. If the listener isn't responding one must try and
change the topic without losing the listeners focus. One can only know this threw the listener's body
language. Body language is essential to a good way of showing and conveying ones' ideas.
A third and final major communication skill is listening, one of the most useful communication
skills. A good listener is someone who can concentrate and not loose focus on a subject. When
someone listens to someone sometimes they might start daydreaming or think of something else and
loose focus on a speaker's subject. Listening is what connects people together. One
"cannot speak if no one is listening," without a listener there would be no need for a speaker.
Listening is a skill that takes a long time to develop and to really understand how to listen. One can
hear but are they really listening to what is said?. One way to make a listener's job easier is to have a
speaker who is clear and brief. This way the listener won't drift away and the speaker has stated his
or her point. This way the listener has understood what has been said and can make his or her own
interpretations. An active listener is a listener who is involved with what the speaker is trying to say.

The Child 's Sensory Experiences
As a baby enters the world for the first time, they don't have words that they can use to express nor
describe what they encounter. They use their senses ability to engage with the people in the
environment around them. From birth, children learn about the world through touching, tasting,
smelling, seeing, and hearing. Sensory plays an important part in the development of the brain.
"Early child development usually follows a sequence, as the child needs to master one skill before
he can acquire the next, but all children develop at their own rate" (Best Start, 2016). Describing the
child's sensory experiences at birth, analyzing how these senses develop and become more evolved,
and describing what a day in this child's life might look like by age 1 all play apart in the
developmental milestones of a young child.
Newborn Milestones My sight is limited at this moment in life, but will continue to get better as I

The Application Of Hardware And Software
Introduction
Throughout the semester, the class was composed of lectures and recitations where we learn to use
MatLab, PSpice, and myDAQ. After ten recitations, we were assign a group project that
demonstrated the knowledge we had gained throughout the entirety of the course. Although we had
the option to choose from the following three detention circuits: a resistor–thermistor voltage
divider circuit, a phototransistor–resistor voltage divider circuit, or a standard PC microphone
driving the audioInput of the myDAQ, my group opted out towards the PC microphone detention
circuit. Within the PC microphone detention circuit, the microphone should have been able to detect
three different states of noise. The first state consists of the microphone detecting no noise, the
second state consists of the microphone detecting the presence of some noise, and the third state
consists of the microphone detecting a louder noise than usual.
The Implementation of Hardware and Software
For this project we used a smartphone and the myDAQ in order to make a detection circuit that
could detect no noise, low noise, and high noise. We first connected the myDAQ to the computer
and then plugged the myDaq with the smartphone, since the phone was the sound source. We then
created a new Blank VI project in LabView, we started by producing a while loop followed by
choosing acquire signals, analog input voltage, and finally selecting audioInputLeft and
audioInputRight. From there we chose analog

My Experience With Hearing Loss
For eight hours, I got to step into the shoes of over 48 million Americans who live with a hearing
loss. I had the opportunity to experience what it means to have an invisible impairment in a world
made for those who have good hearing. The bright orange earplug served as my ticket to one of the
most humbling adventures I have ever undertaken. I would have never imagined that a 32dB
unilateral hearing loss would cause so much frustration. With frustration, however, came
understanding and empathy. I am now confident that my experience will aid me in developing
accurate expectations and treatment plans to my future clients. I, like many, know several
individuals with a hearing loss. I have seen the devastation a hearing loss can cause for someone
who is used to experiencing the many joys of clear sound. As I placed the earplug in for the first
time, I braced myself. I immediately compared my temporary hearing loss to those with a permanent
hearing loss and could only think about how challenging my life was going to be for the next few
hours. I knew that my communication skills were going to be impaired and my value as a
communication partner was going to take a nosedive. One of the senses that I rely on every day was
reduced and it felt like a part of me was missing. While I have experienced small hearing losses due
to cerumen buildup, this was by far one of the most severe losses. As I went through the first couple
minutes with the earplug in, I wondered if I would be able

The Music Event At Texas Tech University

  • 1. The Music Event At Texas Tech University David E. Becker, the Director of Orchestral Studio, he create an event. It was a music event at Texas Tech University; its name is University Symphonysa Orchestra at Hemmle Recital Hall, yesterday, October 30, at 7:00 PM. There were adults with some kids who dress up for Halloween. The students were also dressing up for Halloween. There were also some students who dress up Halloween costumes. One of person dresses up as Santa, which was perhaps because Jack Skellington asking for Santa's help during Halloween! And there were a student who dresses up as Willy Wonka. She gives an honor to Late Gene Wilder. Two directors dress up as Cub fan while other dress as Harry Potter. The music event was start at 7:00 and there were little event before 7. I have to reach there to get my seat around 6:35. However, the audiences were almost full! I was not able to find seat, but thankful I found a seat. The recital hall looks standard with some organs with many pipes. It would be seems fit if they add the Halloween stuff for this Halloween music event. And it could help me to understand and feel the emotion when I listen music with the light effects. I could able to understand better if there were add some light effects to help me to know what the mood they use for their music while they playing the music. First music, the beginning sounds were quickly louder and then it turns into soft. The background sounds were slowly as how the drumming does. It is sound like drumming when they have ... • 3. Piano Lessons At The Age Of 6 Music, in one way or another, is a part of everyone's life, whether it is listening to music when travelling or learning how to play a musical instrument (Stutz). Beginning piano lessons at the age of 6, I have developed a passion for music and find it to be a way to escape from a hectic life. A requirement of the Royal Conservatory of Music, a corporation that runs exams to test the ability of music students, is to learn music history, and during the course, I was amazed at the fact that when two instruments, for example the flute and oboe, play the same note, they sound entirely different. The difference in sounds can even be heard in instruments that are similar in nature, for instance, the piano and the keyboard. When practicing piano pieces for exams or piano festivals, I go online to listen to the interpretations of others for inspiration. I usually find videos of people playing a piano, but sometimes there are people playing a keyboard. What surprised me was that the sounds of the keyboard and the piano were entirely different, and this difference was especially noticeable practicing for a performance. The practice room only contained a keyboard, and after playing the keyboard, I realized that the music sounded much emptier compared to a piano. That got me to wonder, what makes two instruments sound entirely different, even when playing the same note? From comparing sounds from the keyboard and piano, I came to a conclusion that even though the two instruments are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. My Thoughts On Chapter 9 This essay will reflect my thoughts on chapter 9. In brief this chapter deals with how the ears allow us to be able to hear and process sound. When I first think of sound I think of the frequency. This makes me think of songs that I listen too in order to determine it 's a high frequency or a low frequency. I 'll be able to determine the amount of hertz that are in songs on the radio. I do feel that it would be hard to determine because most of that music is reordered, hearing people sing a cappella would be easier to determine the amount of hertz present. I know what hertz are, but I 'm still not sure how they are actually determined? Are they sounds just determined by our brain if we have unimpaired hearing. How would someone like my brother with a whole in his ear be able to determine frequency? When I think about pitch the first things come to mind are instruments. This reminds me in middle school if you wanted to a part of the band, you got to test each instrument. I always had a fascinating with a flute, which had high a frequency and high pitch. Another instrument was a trombone; this had a low frequency and low pitch. This helped me understand the difference between pitches. I also think about how humans and animals hear different frequencies. Someone my age in there 20 's would be able to hear the door bell ring, while someone in there 70 's may not hear it. This measures how over time our frequencies can. A dog on the other hand can hear very high–pitched ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. How Communication Is Influenced By Varieties Of... Our communication is influenced by varieties of circumstances and people. However, the most important thing which affects our communication is our backpack, which means the environment that we raised in. we carry this backpack every time when we communicate with others, so in this essay I am going to demonstrate my interpersonal communication behavior. First of all, I am going to demonstrate what about my communication is unique to my specific circumstances. The way of communication is different when I was talking with Americans and Japanese. Whenever I talk with American people, I try to be more open mind. Since I came here in NDSU, I have a lot of opportunities to communicate with Americans. I realized that Americans are so friendly, so I made effort to adapt American culture. Instead of that, when I communicate with Japanese people, I will be more shy. In my experiences, Japanese people tend to do not like the too friendly people at the first time. Thus, I pay attention to not so be friendly for Japanese during the ice breaker. As a result, when I communicate with Japanese, I will be like a coconuts. It means that the first time is unfriendly like the shell of coconuts but the inside is very sweet and flexible. Instead, when I communicate with American, I am like a peach. The surface of peach is very soft but it has a hard core, so as a similar as peach, I can be more friendly but it is hard to show people how do I feel and think honestly. Moreover, when I am ... • 9. Communication Is An Important Part Of Lives Communication Challenges Communication is an important part of lives. Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with good communication skills. Poor communication can cause conflicts in our personal and professional lives. However, good communication will strengthen relationships and lead to success both personally and professionally. A little over a year ago, I went to the eye doctor for my yearly exam; I told him that I was having trouble reading things up close. Much to my surprise my vision had improved and my contacts were just too strong. Before I left, we talked about ordering new contacts and new glasses since my prescription had changed. A month later I called my eye doctor's office to see if my new contacts had come in since I had not heard from them. It seems that Dr. Thomason and I had a miscommunication, he thought I was coming back to pick out glasses when he received some new frames and I thought he was ordering contacts and I was coming back to look at the new frames when they came in. This is just one example of how poor communication can cause problems. In this case we were both guilty of not listening or hearing only what we want to. Poor listening can lead to many problems. Unfortunately, even when we are good listeners there can still be communication problems. Sometimes it is difficult to understand what the speaker is saying. There were a lot of times at my former job when my boss was telling me something and I did not know what he was talking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction: Music is a universal language. It is a part of culture that has been around for thousands of years, dating back to the first recorded German flutist 40,000 years ago during the Stone Age. Lyrics and sounds can be understood and interpreted independently, but it is how humans are able to take in these sounds and interpret them that is often misunderstood. The biological and psychological aspects of this process play an imperative role, including the idea that our hearing systems are based solely on the cerebellum and physical movement, rather than chemical reactions which usually evoke our ... Such efficiency will be determined by measuring the frequencies of songs using sine waves, the volume at which a genre of music should be played can be understood. Efficiency is fully dependent on atmospheric conditions, such as pressure. Using the sine function will help to analyze the frequency in relation to the period, amplitude, and any possible shifts that may have an influence on the production and receiving of music. First, I will be using an EQu device to measure frequency (dB). This is considered the "original source." Measurements of the frequencies are represented as sine waves, beginning at the 0 (indicated by the green line): By doing so, the frequency, amplitude, and pitch can be analyzed. The frequency measures how fast something vibrates, the amplitude measures how much something vibrates, and the pitch shows how high or low the music can be perceived. Waiting For The Locksmith At Two On A Monday Afternoon Poem Poetry Critique: "Waiting for the Locksmith at Two on a Monday Afternoon" The poem "Waiting for the Locksmith at Two on a Monday Afternoon" talks about the insecurities and shames that people tend to hide or lock within themselves. Barring one line, the poem does an excellent job in conveying its theme through its consistent usage of images. The vividness of said images and figures of speech also add to the overall effect and appeal of the poem. First, the poem is consistent when it comes to its usage of images. The poem repeatedly makes use of locked rooms in order to take a peek at the inner mechanisms of the mind. It follows the story of Janus Silang as his entire life is dismantled by the revelation that the monsters from Philippine folklore are real and are hunting him down. This book has managed to rekindle my love of Philippine literature and I wholly recommend reading this. The book manages to hook its readers through the realistic and well–written characters, the extensive and immersive world building, and the entertaining and heartbreaking writing style of the author. First, the book is full of realistic and well–written characters. Janus Silang, the character, is written as a normal teenager and can be related and sympathized with easily. However, by the end of the book Janus manages to undergo so much growth and development that he's practically a different person from the Janus we met in Chapter 1. From the way he talks, thinks, and acts, one can see how much he's changed from the start of the book, and yet these changes felt natural with the way the story was written. Even the minor characters, such as Janus's parents, his love interest, and his sister, gain some form of development; not enough to overshadow and bog down the plot, but just enough to flesh out and get a feel for their character. All the characters feel real and natural, and it makes it easy to form attachments to them, which allows for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recording Techniques for Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon Recording techniques for Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon The album The Dark Side of the Moon, by Pink Floyd was an album that pushed the boundaries on multi–tracking and tape looping, as well as mixing in1973. The engineer, Alan Parsons, use many unusual techniques to help create the sound that we know and love. Which landed the album on the charts for 750 weeks. Dark side of the moon was first lead engineering job Alan had with Pink Floyd and only took a year to record. To record this album an EMI console, a 16–track tape machine, a Fairchild limiters, and an EMT plate reverb were used. There were also up to five or six tape machines doing various delays, reverb delays, ect. at one time. Alan remembers "on the mix having to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first song I will talk about is " Speak to Me" in the opening of the song there is a heartbeat this was done with a heavy gated bass drum. Alan used Kepex noise gates, which were new technology at the time. The band also thought it was a nice idea to have some speech throughout the record. So they recorded people answering questions off a stack note cards. Then Alan placed the voices in later where the band felt it appropriate. (Classic Albums: The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon) The next song I will talk about "Time". When recording this song many unique techniques were used for the time. Alan suggested to the band the idea of using real clocks. He made stereo recordings in an antique clock shop. Using a portable tape machine he record each clock one at a time. Then he put them together on the multitrack tape by back–timeing the quarter inch originals that he had and starting that next one on time until they were all layer together. (Classic Albums: The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon) I think the clocks are a very important component to the song. It was surprising to me to find out that it was Alan's suggestion. This just goes to show that the band trusted his creativity and engineering skills. The song opens with a heavily gated bass line, this was done live many times before the recording, but it was the new gating technology that was mentioned earlier that allowed them to get the tick tock ... Advantage and Disadvantage of Telecommunication Communicating with patients The New Medicine Service (and MURs) provides a formal opportunity for pharmacists to communicate with patients on a one–to–one basis about their medicines and underlying medical condition(s). The NMS permits the interventions to be done either as a face–to–face appointment or via telephone. Careful consideration must be given as to which of these communication methods is adopted by the pharmacy as each method brings its own advantages and disadvantages. S. had me work with three students individually, and these students ranged from high performance to low performance. I thought this was a good choice so I could experience difference between the different developmental levels of the students. I performed the assessment on October 14th of 2016, in Miss. S's classroom during the student's free choice time. Of the three students that participated, one of the students receives speech therapy. The first student that I assessed was Child 1, and he doesn't receive extra services. Johnathan did really well overall, but did struggle with some words. I feel that Johnathan could have taken his time more and really focused on sounding the words out before saying what he thought they were. I did noticed that the mixed up and mistaken some of the vowels. When I performed the spelling test at the end, Johnathan had trouble with the word you. When he started to spell the word he started with "OU," but then he corrected himself and spelt the word correctly. I still marked the word as incorrect since he started spelling the word wrong. The second student that I assessed was Child 2, and he receives speech therapy. I didn't complete the assessment because Derek was struggling and wasn't close to saying the words that I was pointing to. When saying some of the words he was either correct or very close. Summary: Everyone who has ever had kids knows what it's like to have a late night trip to the grocery store. One dad's trip took a shocking turn as he heard a blood–curdling scream in the parking lot. Introduction: Ty Zerby had three children, so it seemed like he was constantly buying milk and picking things up at the store. Tonight, the entire family decided to have a movie night together. Unfortunately, Ty forgot to pick up popcorn and candy for the family night. Before the movie could start, he needed to go back to the grocery store to get the snacks. Unfortunately, his innocent trip to the grocery store was about to take a terrifying turn. – Insert a family picture of Ty, the three children and his wife looking happy together. Main: As Ty drove into the parking lot, he thought he heard some weird sounds. When he looked around, he did not see anything. Analysis Of Emily Dickinson 's ' I Felt A Funeral In this poem "I Felt a Funeral, in My Brain", Emily Dickinson seems to be suffering a traumatic experience or situation at that time, difficult to control inside her brain. She attempts to explain this painful emotion through this poem using a variety of literary techniques that include metaphor, symbolism, personification and others. It is clear that Dickinson is not using her sense of reasoning in this poem, she seems gone from the world around her, as if her mind state is deteriorating and she is going from sanity to insanity. From my point of view of the poem, Emily seems to be trying to convey readers her own tragic experience from the perspective of a dead person that is still able to use some of her senses and is conscious the whole time narrating the poem inside a coffin. However, it 's still not clear whether the speaker is living or dead, but she is definitely afraid and disturbed of what will happen when she finally loses her sanity. In the first line, "I felt a funeral, in my brain / And Mourners to and fro", the speaker imagines a funeral inside her brain and feels mourners going back and forth, which could mean that her thoughts are full of sorrow and her mind is going crazy. One interesting thing I saw in this poem is that the speaker does not want readers to think that she is comparing her feelings to a funeral. She does not say "It felt like a funeral, in my brain" instead she says "I felt a funeral, in my brain". Changing this part would give readers a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

THE INTRODUCTION I've listened to a lot of music in my 514,561,058 seconds of life. • 32. New Forms Of Architecture Developed During The Renaissance... Architecture is a significant topic when looking at historical shifts of time periods, especially when looking at the artistic shifts that occurred in the transition from the Medieval period into the Renaissance. New forms of architecture are considered one of the most important achievements that formed during the renaissance era. The form of architecture developed during this period mainly originated from Greek and Roman styles. These reappearing ideas became present in modern times in many different ways. Many architects such as Bartolommeo Bandinelli would design dome creations used mainly in the cathedrals of Florence. Not only were these domes larger and more extravagant than ever before, they were engineered in a way that their acoustics are still being studied and replicated today. The exterior elements of the Renaissance era domes were considered to be impressive artistically, but the interior elements were unique to many as well. Looking at such buildings today, you can see the detailed work that had been put in for many years in order to create such a beautiful building. The acoustics inside the dome were carefully crafted and incorporated into the structure of the dome itself, in order to enhance the ability for a crowd to hear. The acoustics of many theaters in Italy were designed to enhance the hearing for the varieties of music that were performed during these times. The Renaissance introduced the use of "polyphony", which is a multilayered faster type of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sound Recording, Its History And Impact On Media In The 21st Century On this essay I will try to show how Sound Recording impacts media in the 21st century. But in order for me to do that I will need to explore the history of Sound Recording, which started in the 19th Century. Before 1877 sound could be recorded but not played. That year Thomas Alva Edison invented the talking tin foil, also known as the phonograph (voice – writer), which enabled sound to be played back (the first speech to be recorded and played back was the poem by Sarah Josepha Hale (1830) 'Mary had a little lamb', which, unfortunately "was not preserved, but in 1927, Edison re–enacted the recording for Fox Movietone news. It can be heard on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... waltzes, polkas, cakewalks, and so on. Yet the most famous leader of such a band, John Philip Sousa, had doubts about the phonograph and publicly denounced recordings as inferior to live music. Thus began a decades–long campaign against recorded music, sponsored by a succession of music critics, social theorists, and musicians. As one of those social theorists has argued, the real significance of the early phonograph was that it transformed the way people listened to music. Where once music was a unique, live performance, experienced in a public place with a group, now it was heard privately in the home and it was possible to hear the same "performance" over and over. According to this argument, the listening experience was cheapened." Recording History.org(?) Music was available almost anywhere, any time so people, in theory, would be exposed to a wider selection of music, which, some people believed, would result in a social uplift process. However in the United States and Europe most people kept buying popular music instead of what reformers called "good" music. "Good" music started being advertised more heavily, by companies like Victor, Columbia and Edison's, by offering a wider variety of "good" music in their catalogs. "Historians have also countered the argument that the phonograph degraded musical taste by noting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The composer himself is very accomplished, influencing an entire genre of music. This song is very rhythmic and has identifiable beats. The song has a message that I hold with high regard, as I share the beliefs of the composer. It is the first track in one of my favourite albums Modal Soul. It also references one of my favourite books Flowers for Algernon. The smooth blend of jazz and hip hop instrumentals as well as the melodic tune of the piano, complemented by the rough voices of Cise Starr and Akin make this song very enjoyable. Having listened to many of his other songs, I highly admire Nujabes for his deep commitment to his craft and his ability to produce beautiful music that combines multiple genres. In many of his other songs, hip hop beats are also often blended with jazz influences to create a mellow atmospheric sound. Moreover, I also admire Nujabes for contributing to the original soundtrack of my favorite show, Samurai Champloo. We chose to analyze this song because we felt it presented an uplifting, yet complex and unique take on how people should strive to live their lives in this complicated world. "Mending Wall" tells about the story of a rock wall, that is build to separate two properties (the speaker and his neighbor) in the countryside, and something is always destroying it. On the other hand, we have the poem of "Birches" and the speaker talks about how he does not like how the birches bend because of the storm so he imagines that children are the ones who climb the birch tree as high as they can and then when they have reached the point where the birch can support their weight any more, they bend the birch because the kick their legs and pull the tree down to one side. In the poem of "Mending Wall", Frost uses sound to enrich and enhances his theme/meaning of the poem. He writes in a soft and harmonious way, almost in a reflective tone. He enriches more his theme of separation/barrier–building to give empathy towards the speaker and the way he asks himself, why is the stonewall still there separating both the speaker and his neighbor. "Before I built a Wall/I'd ask to know/What I was walling in or walling out,/And to whom I was like to give offense." However, there is the implication that something even deeper is going on and Frost uses a harsh tone for it. When he inscribes a certain type of "dialogue" between the speaker and his neighbor, the neighbor's response is very harsh and discordant. "My apple trees will never get across/And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him/He only says/Good fences make good neighbors". With this response the reader can connect with the speaker and see how harsh the speaker's neighbor response is. Here we can see the theme of this poem is that a respectful distance between neighbors is the recipe for harmonious relationships: 'Good fences make good neighbors'. ... The National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorder calculates that about 2 percent of older adults have disabling hearing loss. The NIDC uses the decible of hearing loss at 35 decibels or more in the better ear which is the level at which adults could generally benefit from hearing aids. The medical term for old age related hearing loss with no other causes is Presbycusis. As defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) the term elderly or aged refers to persons aged 60 years or above. These statistic are ever changing and will continue to increase as people are living longer and will continue to live longer. As a person ages its normal to lose some of the perceptiveness of hearing. Presbycusis doesn't remove hearing completely however this small deficiency can get worse over time. Most people with presbycusis just lose the ability to hear at a higher tone. This makes it harder to understand others speech. In order to understand how this affects people we must first understand how sound travels through the ear into the brain. The ear is made up of three parts: the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear. The outer ear is responsible for collecting the sound wave, the middle ear increases the sound energy and transmits the sound to the inner ear and finally the inner ear transforms the sound waves into nerve impulses and sends them to the brain. When the sound wave passes the ear canal there is a vibration in the eardrum which affects 3 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The objective of this paper is to examine the relationship between place and music and analyze the song "Inglan is a Bitch" by Linton Kwesi Johnson in terms of place. "Inglan is a Bitch" exemplifies the link between music and place through its lyrics and sound. First I am going to define cultural geography and discuss how culture is linked to place. Then I will explain local music spaces and why music has a strong sense of place. Next I will analyze how "Inglan is a Bitch" relates to place. After, I will finish with an overall conclusion. I will be exploring these topics through the readings of Knox and Marston, Connell and Gibson and finally, Watson, Holyer and Mager supplemented by Lecture notes. According to Knox and Marston, culture produces a shared set of meanings and practices, while geography is the place in which groups shape those meanings and practices and "in the process form an identity" (Knox and Marston 2016, 155). Cultural Geography focuses on the way space, place and landscape shape culture at the same time that culture shapes space, place, and landscape" (Knox and Marston 2016, 155). Cultural geography examines cultural traits, cultural complexes, and cultural regions. (Rutherford 2016). It is a way to understand both landscape and human settlement patterns (Rutherford 2016). In the reading Sounds and Scenes, authors Connell and Gibson suggest that a local music space is a specific place that produces a distinct sound (Connell and Gibson 2003, 90). The ... In LMC 3403 I expanded my knowledge on technical communication and continued to grow as an individual. Perhaps the biggest takeaway in the class for me came through the development of my groups own sound interface. We were forced to focus on the user interaction and really think about the characteristics that the voice would possess, including the details that go into a voice persona like Siri, Alexa, and the Google Home. During LMC 3403 I acquired a foundational vocabulary for discussing and analyzing sounds, voices, and modes of listening through the work done on my blog post. Sound consists of oscillating waves of compression and decompression of a transmitting medium i.e. air or water, traveling at a fixed velocity (Støylen, 2015). The frequency of sound waves refers to the number oscillations per second, with one cycle per second is considered a unit of 1 hertz (Henderson, 2014). Sound waves oscillating above 20,000 Hz are categorised as ultrasound waves. As sound waves are a transverse wave forms this means the only variant is its frequency and wavelength despite the location in the spectrum. The wavelength is defined as the distance travelled by sound in one cycle, or the distance between two identical points in the wave cycle i.e. the distance from each oscillation (Cura Rodríguez, Seguí and Nicolau, 2012). In regards to wave forms the wavelength shows very little significance as it is inversely proportional to frequency. In reference to the structure a waveform, the significance of the wavelength is one of the main factors affecting the resolution of an ultrasound image, this is because smaller wavelengths (higher frequency) are absorbed more by soft tissue. • 57. John Cage Is The Epitome Of A Cutting Edge Composer John cage is the epitome of a cutting edge composer. This is due to the fact that cage has achieved an appreciation for music which is unmatched by any other composer. Cage enjoys sounds because of their dynamics and their lengths, something other composers usually overlook. This gives him the advantage to compose music in a unique manner; he can make music that is unmatched by others. This is what undoubtedly makes him one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. One significant reason why cage is considered unique is because of his experimentation with unorthodox instruments such as the prepared piano and tape recorder. This was in efforts to break the musical boundaries of traditional music in the west, this style was a change from his traditional musical styles early on in his career, which were more alike to his mentors and followed more of 12–tone style. The ideas brought forward by cage made him more of a philosopher than a composer, he broke the normal role of a composer by encouraging people to focus on sounds rather than music and by promoting eastern philosophies, specifically Zen Buddhism. He has extended his teachings for years to come after his death by publishing many books such as "silence" and "lectures and writings". Cage always placed an emphasis on the ideas conveyed by his music more than how they sounded, for example cage composed a piece in which the performers are silent, only with ambient sounds in the background. • 59. The Importance Of Listening And Deep Listening It is inevitable to be surrounded by sounds. No matter where you go, there will never be a place without sound. This is precisely why causal and deep listening are both necessary skills to have. In my paper I will address the theme of how deep listening makes us better understand the world and the importance of adhering to both causal listening and deep listening. I intend to show that by analyzing the differences in causal listening and deep listening and by referencing the works of Hendy, Chion, and Novak, as well as my own personal experiences. The actual process of deep listening is a difficult task. However, when done right, it opens up a world full of sounds. One thing to establish before moving on is that deep listening, also known as reduced listening, is very different than causal listening. To further define it, "reduced listening is the listening mode that focuses on the traits of the sound itself, independent of its cause and of its meaning" (Chion). In other words, reduced listening is something that we have to forcefully enact. It is not commonly implemented in our daily lives, and oftentimes, it takes a very trained ear to do so. Listening solely for the purpose of analyzing sound, and sound alone is no easy task. For example, it was very hard to differentiate sounds during my assignment. I over–generalized most things, and needed a visual representation to comprehend most sounds. On the other hand, causal listening "consists of listening to a sound in order ... Synthi AKS synthesiser came out just a year before this album's recording, and this synthesizer was used to play the 8 note sequence. A white noise was also added on this to created hi–hut kind of sound. Another synth that stands out in this track is VCS 3 (voltage controlled studio 3) which came out in 1969. Not like the Synthi AKS, they used this synth to create a sound effect. Using its oscillators, filter, noise generator and sequencer, they created a sound effect like vehicles, or perhaps airplanes, are passing through the audience from right to left. (which you can probably hear from 1:50~) Not just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. Hearing Loss At The University Of New South Wales Hearing loss is problem that can occur anywhere, one of the most common places where this can occur is at a concert. Scientist at the University of New South Wales in Australia believe that short– term hearing loss after being exposed to loud excessive noise is most likely the body's way of coping with the situation. This defensive mechanism cannot cope or protect the ear with high frequency noise, which could by caused by listening to loud music through headphones. It is not the acute exposure but the continuous noise expose especially that of a high frequency that can cause difficulties later on in someone's life. Our ears can adapt to loud noise or frequencies but even then, like everything else they have their limits and when you exceed those limits, it can lead to very negative outcomes. Hearing loss can occur at any age, but this mostly affect children and young adults. Approximately 15 percent of Americans between the ages of 20 and 69, 26 million Americans have some form of hearing loss due to high exposure occurring in places of work or recreational activities. About 16% of teens have experience some form of hearing loss caused by loud noise according to a 2010 report based on a survey from the centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC). Everything we hear in our everyday lives has a decibel range, which it shows how loud the noise is. Such as the humming of a refrigerator is 45 decibels, normal conversation is 60 decibels, an mp3 player at maximum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Galton 's Whistle Or The Silent Whistle Most people are often fond of whistling. Some would even turn around to see if they are the ones being called if someone whistles. However, no matter how clear whistling to our ears can be, there are moments when we cannot hear it, such is a case of a dog whistle. Believe it or not, dog whistle that only dogs can hear really occurs. In this very scenario, it is safe to say that dogs have better auditory receptors compared to humans like us. Galton's whistle There was a special whistle for dogs made by Francis Galton way back in 1876 called the Galton's whistle or the silent whistle. This whistle for dogs emits sound in the ultrasonic range. People will not be able to hear these sounds, however, animals such as dogs and cats can. The whistle has been used by people and trainers to practice and coach their lovely pets. Galton's whistle has been featured in his book, the Inquiries into Human Faculty and its Development where he pointed out experiments that can test the range of frequencies heard by different animals. Dog whistle that only dogs can hear In today's time, the frequency of most dog whistles is between 23 to 54 kHz. Humans will not be able to hear them because the maximum range of a human hearing for children is about 20 kHz, and between 15–17 kHz for middle–aged adults. Meanwhile, the dog's hearing range can reach up to a maximum of 45 kHZ. Thus, dog whistle that only dogs can hear is pretty much not for humans. To a human ear, a dog whistle may only be perceived ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. How Has Walt Disney Made Used In Disney Films? Many people have experienced Disney in one shape or another in their lifetime. Whether it was the movies or Disneyland, it did not fail to reach the hearts of its audience. While Disney's target audience was young children, it also captivated the hearts of its older viewers. Countless individuals, however, do not realize all the technology and effort involved in making a mere ten minute short film, let alone a full length movie. Furthermore, they also do not know how far the technology for Disney productions has come. It is of no surprise that Walt Disney Studios is the role model for almost every motion–picture studio. In 1929, Disney created the first successful short film entitled, "Steamboat Willie". Even though there were other animations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 73. Communication Skills Essay Communication Skills Communication skills are all around us, from the day we are born until the rest of our lives. How many times have you seen communication skills required for a job in the classifieds and wonder what it actually means. A communication skill is some type of skill used in communication, From talking, body language to even listening. Many things can effect the way one can convey his or her communication skills to others. All of these skills are very personnel to one another. Everyone has different ways of expressing some kind of communication skill within them. One communication skill is speaking, by far one of the most important skill we posses. To be a good speaker one must be able to convey ideas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Body language conveys a lot of expression to are inner feelings and thoughts. Body language can show many things about you and the way you think. It can also show the way a person reacts to what you try to convey to them. If the listener isn't responding one must try and change the topic without losing the listeners focus. One can only know this threw the listener's body language. Body language is essential to a good way of showing and conveying ones' ideas. A third and final major communication skill is listening, one of the most useful communication skills. A good listener is someone who can concentrate and not loose focus on a subject. When someone listens to someone sometimes they might start daydreaming or think of something else and loose focus on a speaker's subject. Listening is what connects people together. One "cannot speak if no one is listening," without a listener there would be no need for a speaker. Listening is a skill that takes a long time to develop and to really understand how to listen. One can hear but are they really listening to what is said?. One way to make a listener's job easier is to have a speaker who is clear and brief. This way the listener won't drift away and the speaker has stated his or her point. This way the listener has understood what has been said and can make his or her own interpretations. An active listener is a listener who is involved with what the speaker is trying to say. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. The Child 's Sensory Experiences As a baby enters the world for the first time, they don't have words that they can use to express nor describe what they encounter. They use their senses ability to engage with the people in the environment around them. From birth, children learn about the world through touching, tasting, smelling, seeing, and hearing. Sensory plays an important part in the development of the brain. "Early child development usually follows a sequence, as the child needs to master one skill before he can acquire the next, but all children develop at their own rate" (Best Start, 2016). Describing the child's sensory experiences at birth, analyzing how these senses develop and become more evolved, and describing what a day in this child's life might look like by age 1 all play apart in the developmental milestones of a young child. Newborn Milestones My sight is limited at this moment in life, but will continue to get better as I grow up. "Vision is probably the least well developed of the infant 's senses" (Lefracois, 2012, sec. 5.3). I prefer to see my mommy face more than that of my daddy which is the reason why my attachment to her is greater. I was able to hear sounds in the womb especially the voice of mommy and the stories and music that I would hear through the headphones. Hearing for me isn't all the way developed but I do recognize sounds. My movements are very jerky at this moment. I get startled and cry when sudden noises are brought about. I like to be swaddled which makes me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. The Application Of Hardware And Software Introduction Throughout the semester, the class was composed of lectures and recitations where we learn to use MatLab, PSpice, and myDAQ. After ten recitations, we were assign a group project that demonstrated the knowledge we had gained throughout the entirety of the course. Although we had the option to choose from the following three detention circuits: a resistor–thermistor voltage divider circuit, a phototransistor–resistor voltage divider circuit, or a standard PC microphone driving the audioInput of the myDAQ, my group opted out towards the PC microphone detention circuit. Within the PC microphone detention circuit, the microphone should have been able to detect three different states of noise. The first state consists of the microphone detecting no noise, the second state consists of the microphone detecting the presence of some noise, and the third state consists of the microphone detecting a louder noise than usual. The Implementation of Hardware and Software For this project we used a smartphone and the myDAQ in order to make a detection circuit that could detect no noise, low noise, and high noise. We first connected the myDAQ to the computer and then plugged the myDaq with the smartphone, since the phone was the sound source. We then created a new Blank VI project in LabView, we started by producing a while loop followed by choosing acquire signals, analog input voltage, and finally selecting audioInputLeft and audioInputRight. From there we chose analog ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 79. My Experience With Hearing Loss For eight hours, I got to step into the shoes of over 48 million Americans who live with a hearing loss. I had the opportunity to experience what it means to have an invisible impairment in a world made for those who have good hearing. The bright orange earplug served as my ticket to one of the most humbling adventures I have ever undertaken. I would have never imagined that a 32dB unilateral hearing loss would cause so much frustration. With frustration, however, came understanding and empathy. I am now confident that my experience will aid me in developing accurate expectations and treatment plans to my future clients. I, like many, know several individuals with a hearing loss. I have seen the devastation a hearing loss can cause for someone who is used to experiencing the many joys of clear sound. As I placed the earplug in for the first time, I braced myself. I immediately compared my temporary hearing loss to those with a permanent hearing loss and could only think about how challenging my life was going to be for the next few hours. I knew that my communication skills were going to be impaired and my value as a communication partner was going to take a nosedive. One of the senses that I rely on every day was reduced and it felt like a part of me was missing. While I have experienced small hearing losses due to cerumen buildup, this was by far one of the most severe losses. As I went through the first couple minutes with the earplug in, I wondered if I would be able ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
