Story and Plot
In a narrative film, a plot is considered all visible and audible elements present in a film, in essence the film in its entirety including nondiegetic
images. In The Wizard of Oz, the plot begins with Dorothy (Judy Garland), a young farm girl from Kansas who dreams of escaping to 'somewhere
over the rainbow' without troubles and torment for her dog Toto from a horrible neighbour Miss Gulch (Margaret Hamilton). During a tornado she is
hit on the head and is transported to the World of Oz where she meets characters transformed from her Kansas life at home, meeting three companions

Oz is shot in bright and vibrant colours, which pertains to the idea of a magical land that appears very opposed to the dull and colourless real world
of Kansas, assisting on taking the viewer on the journey 'over the rainbow'. This goal oriented plot in The Wizard of Oz follows a pattern of
development that encourages the viewer to expect Dorothy to reach her desired goal. The viewer then sees each action of Dorothy's to be a progress
of this desire to go home to Kansas.
The film is brought to a climax when the Dorothy and her friends return to visit the Wizard after destroying the Wicked Witch of the West, of which
he had requested. During this scene it is revealed that the Wizard is in fact a fraud, an ordinary but clever man who although as no powers, still fulfils
the expectations of the story. He gives Scarecrow, Tinman and the Cowardly Lion the answers they seek by giving them the self confidence to
recognise they had the qualities which they were looking for all along and he presents them with some token external symbols to represent this.
In the final scenes and formal resolution of the film, which is shot in sepia tones creating a parallelism with Kansas on the opening scene, Dorothy
attains her goal of returning home, waking up in her own bedroom surrounded by friends and family from her real life, therefore fulfilling the

City Of Ember Movie And Book Comparison
Most people who have read the book may wonder what happened after Doon and Lina got above ground and what they are doing? Or even what is
going on down in the city or even if someone got Doon and Lina's message about the exit and what they are doing about it. The City of Ember is
by Jeanne Duprau and is about these two kids named Lina and Doon. Lina found instructions about on how to possibly leave the city. Later on they
found the exit in the pipeworks but Lina could not leave Poppy so she had to get her quick without getting caught. But before they were accused of
spreading rumors about the mayor and about how he had a room full of supplies and Lina and Doon were not lying about it. Possibly in the next book

This changed the perspective of the character because it left out a lot of his personality. Another thing in the movie that it never said in the book
was that the bugs were super sized. This gave the movie a more interesting feel but I still wish that the movie went in the same track as the book.
One more thing in the movie it did not say in the book was that Lina and Doon got chased by a giant mole creature that was hairy all over and super
sized. This gave the movie a more action like feel and it made it more fun to watch. In my opinion some of these changes made the story more fun to
watch and more action packed. But some of these changes made the movie leave out a lot of detail and some parts and got confused because it
skipped a scene in the book. I'm glad they added all these similarities because if they had not then it would have left out a lot of information about the

The Wizard of Oz is a MGM blockbuster based on the novel written by L. Frank Baum. The film was directed by Victor Fleming and George Cukor,
and released in 1939. The cinematographer responsible for this classic film is Harold Rosson. The main characters included, Dorthy, played by

I chuckle under my breath at the absurdity of me still having stage fright after all this time. My heart hums to the sound of the audience's murmur and I

It all happened when my prodigy brother Sam was kidnapped by the wicked witch of Darkwood. It was early in the morning when I woke up and
discovered that Sam was missing. I rushed to the front door calling Sam 's name frantically, knowing that he would not be there. A witch named
Rachel had wanted us to take him to her castle but knowing that she was evil, my family had refused. She became furiously angry and threatened
that that would not be the last we heard of her. She had had an evil plan that needed someone like Sam because he was a prodigy because he was
so smart. I quickly called the members of our gang, the Rescuers, of which I had been nominated leader. My best friends, Jack, Otto, and David
answered the phone. We met together in the Cul de Sac in our neighborhood and I quickly told them our dilemma. Immediately, after I was done
talking, we set off on the road leading toward the misty beach. We jogged until we could not run anymore and finally reached the railroad which
went directly to Rachel's castle, Darkwood. The mist was terrible,and we could barely see in front of us. We found an abandoned railroad car and
quickly jumped in; it was about 7:00 AM. As we sped through the dark, misty air, we could hear the waves lapping up against the railroad track. If

According to Reel News Daily, on average, there are 57 movies released every month or 684 movies each year. That's way more movies than the
average person watches in a given year. So, how do we decide what movies to go watch and what not to watch? What's pleasing and what's
appalling? Fortunately, we have critics who watch most of these movies and write reviews to help narrow down what movies to and not to view. One
of these critics is Robert Ebert. Robert Ebert is an honorable critic to base judgements off of because he does an exceptional job summarizing the plot,
stating his personal opinions, and speaking about the actors/director's roles in the film. Summarizing the plot of a film without giving away too many
details and spoiling the story is one of the most important part about writing a movie review. Robert Elbert has this skill mastered as he did an
exceptional job summarizing the movie the wizard of oz. He did it well while still making the audience curious enough to go and watch the film.
Elbert keeps summaries of specific events very brief and concise, "...The Wizard sends them on a mission to get the Wicked Witch 's broom, and it is
not insignificant that the key to Dorothy's return to Kansas is the pair of ruby slippers." This sentence does an excellent job of summing up what is
towards the end of the movie. This section of the film consumes a total of fifteen minutes but Elbert sums it up completely with one sentence. This is a

How Is Glinda A Wicked Witch
The Wicked Witch of the West's hunger for power is another big part of her character. She spends much of her time in both the film and the book
wanting the ruby slippers, or in the case of the book, the silver shoes, because of the powers they possess. One might also speculate that an additional
reason the Witch was so mad at Dorothy when her sister was squashed, is because the witch felt threatened by this newcomer that is apparently
powerful enough to kill a witch. If the Witch of the West did, in fact, feel threatened by Dorothy, it would certainly explain why she felt the need to
continually assert her dominance over Dorothy and threaten her.
