The Description Theory of Meaning Essay
The description theory of meaning was proposed independently by Bertrand Russell and Gottlob Frege as a response to some of the fallacies of the
reference theory. Description theorists propose that instead of being a simple 'word – world relationship', meaning is derived from descriptions
associated with certain objects and stored in our mind (or senses in Frege's case). Frege and Russell's accounts of the theory differ subtly in how they
view descriptions. Several objections have been made against the theory, but only the most important objections will be raised. These include

This allows him to extend the Description Theory to almost every meaning. The extension of the theory to names seems natural as when one refers to
someone, they often add a description. For example, 'The fat slob of a father on the Simpsons' explains just who Homer Simpson is. This analysis
helps the Description theorist to overcome some of the problems which plagued the Reference Theorist. This theory is an improvement on the
reference theory, as it is much better at explaining some of the features of language, such as why we explain proper names with descriptions if asked.
Comparing Frege and Russell's Theories
While having essentially a similar message, there are some key differences between the two original Description theorist's hypotheses. Both the
theories can pick out a specific referent indirectly with something like a description. However, while the emphasis is the same, Russell's analysis
appealed to the description as being something within a competent user's mind, whereas Frege saw these descriptions as senses. He described these as
being platonic entities, thus objective, whereas the referents they picked out as being subjective. These abstract objects are used to determine how
reference can be made in the concrete world. Russell argues that there are not 'two levels of semantic significance' in his theory, so that when his theory
is logically formulated, it has a 'general nature',

What is a referencing system?
A referencing system is a set of rules and principles that is used to attribute the contributions of other authors within your own written work. This is
achieved by both acknowledging, and identifying the source of, the other authors' work.
There are two parts to academic referencing: the acknowledgement (of the other authors' words and ideas) in the body of your text (the in–text citation);

and the identification of their work in full at the end of your document (the end–text citation in the reference list).
Copying the words and ideas of others without acknowledging correct ownership is called plagiarism. Plagiarism may result in failure of a unit or
entire course, fines, prevention from entry into professional associations and other disciplinary

Introduction
Internal influence and external influence are the two main factors that contribute to the study in how individuals, groups buy, use and dispose of
goods and services. Each of them consists of the varieties of factors affecting consumers in different aspects. Among these factors, reference group has
been chosen to become the main topic of this research in order to define and analyse how it influences in consumers purchase decision. The research
will focus on the informational influence which is one of the important categories in reference groups to explain in depth how marketers use it to
recognize and satisfy consumers' needs and wants. Having the knowledge of informational influence will help people, especially marketers understand
why some particular groups behave as they do.
A reference group is a group whose significant perspectives an individual takes on in forming beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours. Reference group
influence is described as a three–dimensional concept, consisting of informational, utilitarian, and value–expressive influences (Selvakumar and
Keeshan 2010, 6). Informational influence provides with product or issue related information among group members so that information can assist
members in decision making–processes when they are faced with choices (Babin and Harris 2014, 151).

There are few things in this world that I hate more than having to create a research paper. I usually don 't get to choose the topic, I have to spend lots
of time in the library, and I usually wait until the last minute, so the whole ordeal is worse than it should have been. Well, there are a few things I
taught myself to do to keep my research papers flowing and much easier to organize and compile. These are the ideas that I use every single time for
any type of sourced writing, including writing articles for Associated Content.
Create a notes file: This is the ultimate tool for my writing. When I have found a source for my paper I take it with me to the computer. While I 'm
reading the portion of this book, or encyclopedia, or Internet article, I have a writing program open and I write down paragraphs and bullet points of
the article in my own words, highlighting key concepts. This is separated by sources so when I 'm writing I can quickly put down sources, and after I
use an article I create my insert for my bibliography. If you keep up with your bibliography notes, when it comes to make your works cited page, you
're already done!
Create headings for your notes: Give your notes from your notes file and copy and paste them into categories. Give each category a heading as to
the general idea that groups them together. For example, on my paper in how the Nazi party controlled the people of Germany, I made a group called
