My Family Experience
When I was young I was always around my family. My family went to every outing we could and
we loved to be around each other, besides the siblings of course. Everyday I can remember we
would get picked up from elementary school by our beloved Nana because she didn't want us to
ride the bus, it always made me happy to see her. From that experience, along with the experience
of being involved in so many family activities, I learned the first of my many childhood lessons...
Family matters. Most people in the past have told me this very thing so I guess I learned these
from a more vocal or verbal source. I've never found conflict in the idea that family matters so
obviously it must be true. After learning this I was presented with a plethora of other lessons. I
learned that I should always respect my elders and always open the door for a lady. Taking these
in created a lot of conflict in my mind. Why do I have to do this? Why do I have to help with
that? I constantly was in a state of wonder as to why I had to do things for others because I at the
time I couldn't comprehend any positive or greater outcome from the lessons I was being taught.
By the time I was in middle school I was starting to question the lessons I learned from when I was
young. People were acting differently and didn't always respect the ideals of others. I soon came to
realize that other people had been taught differently and whether I liked the way they were or not,
it's who they were because they took lessons

Who I Am My Family? Essay
When I think about who I am in my family, I think about my experiences, good and bad, that has
made me who I To begin with, my parents divorced when I was just a toddler, so my consists of
the maternal side of the tree; they're too loud, too proud, and full of chaos, but I 'm sure that all
families have brown spots–don't they? When is a family considered dysfunctional? Is there some
secret sauce that makes up a functional family?
I have always been curious of how different my family and my life would've been if my parents
had a better marriage. I was only three when they divorced, so I missed the opportunity to know
my father or any of his family. From which side of my family did I inherit the most of my genes?
Most of my mom 's side is loud and hateful. I'm more alike my grandparents; I'm a calm individual
and don't enjoy being around draining negativity, but that's all my family consists of anymore.
My grandparents have four children: my two uncles, my aunt, and my mother. I remember a time
when my family would often get–together at my aunts house. They'd listen to music, play cards
(usually pinochle) and just have a good time enjoying each others company. My cousin Danielle
had an attic bedroom. She's seven years older than me, so we weren't close when I was an annoying
five–year old. As soon as my hand would touch her doorknob, she 'd yell "You're not coming in my
room Jessica!". It seemed like every time we visited, she 'd always have one of her friends with her

My Family Essay
No one can't meet a family like mine's. My family is well diversified. Every family member plays
an important role in all my family's lives. In my family, there are four people: my father, my
mother, my little brother and me. My father is one who brings money home and is also responsible
for organizing and planning family trips. My mother is the one who is in charge for making meals
and makes sure everyone eats at the appropriate times. My little brother is the pet of the family. He
actually doesn't have any responsibilities, for he's the pet. I am the rock of support in my family. I

being a role model that they can look up to. Another...show more content...
Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for
my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I also support my younger cousins and brother.
As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are
numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing
advice on making the right choices. For example my brother had a problem at school with one of
his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent
approach. I told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then
asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how violence is the answer to
anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get
out of hand, I told him to let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to
get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking through with each other. I
also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in
a while. They come over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my
cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I play various sports and
activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I
am also known for being there

My Day With My Family
I believe that I feel the most comfortable when I am home with my family. Any activity we do
together is amazing. Whether it's watching a movie together, having dinner, or having something
to talk about. There is always a time of the day where we just have a good laugh about something
that happened throughout the day. I know my family will always be there for me and I will do
the same for them. I believe that I am blessed to have such a loving, caring, and compassionate
family. I believe when times are tough, my family is my true comfort. Even if it's the smallest
thing like a headache or stomachache I feel better with just my mom doing anything for me to
feel better. I don't need medicine to heal the smallest pains; all I need is my family's love. I've
never looked at another family and thought, "wow they have an amazing relationship, i am
jealous". Sometimes I do the opposite because I never had thought wrong about my family even
when we're aggravated sometimes. I remember during the summer we would have a cookout
every single Saturday and Sunday. We would all get together and have my dads "special asadas".
Which are a special steak well done with allot of lime and spices. We would sit there for hours eating
and having a beer. We would call close friends that we even call family. I believe there is no perfect
life or perfect family. I believe my family will overcome anything that causes pain or misery. I
believe that we are in full control of our own wellness, both

Essay on My Family's Ancestry
Gathering research about my family and its history turned out to be an interesting and insightful
opportunity, through which I learned much more than I expected. When I started this project, I
knew that I would not be able to find as much useful information on the Internet as some of my
peers. In effect, I realized that I would have to rely on other primary resources such as my parents
and grandparents to reveal the story of my ancestry to me. After I had interviewed them, my family
history became much clearer to me. More than 2 millennia ago, around the 3rd century BC, a group
of Tamil–speaking people from present–day South India migrated to the nearby island of Sri Lanka.
Among these people, known today as "Sri Lankan Tamils", are my...show more content...
The Peninsula has a hot, monsoonal tropical climate characterized by a dry season from February
to October and a wet season from October to January. Because of the monsoons, the region is
humid and averages three feet of rain each year, which is relatively low compared to the rest of the
island. The climate of the region allows for many crops to be grown including many varieties of
fruits and vegetables.
While interviewing my parents and grandparents, I learned about many customs and aspects of
the Sri Lankan Tamil culture. Sri Lankan Tamils are devotees of the Shaiva sect of Hinduism,
mainly worshipping the lord Shiva. The three main cultural festivals celebrated in the area are
Thai Pongal (beginning of the harvest), Chittrai Pongal (Tamil New Year), and Deepavali (Hindu
Festival of Lights). In addition, pujas (religious rituals) are performed for different occasions, such
as the death day of an ancestor or the celebration of a certain Hindu deity. It was also a custom to
ask the village astrologer for advice on certain decisions, such as the name of a newborn child.
Paternal Great–Grandparents In the early 1900's, Kadirasaipillai and Vairavipillai Kandappar, my
paternal grandmother's parents, were born in the village of Puloly, Northern Province, Sri Lanka.
They were both born into families of the Vellalar caste of Tamil society and went to school at Puttalai
Vidhyalayam, the only schooling option

Personal Narrative Essay:
Dianna Belous
A few months ago, at family prayer my grandfather was having trouble with his leg and he was
limping. My uncle decided to ask if we wanted to pray for him. All the kids got around my
grandpa, and we put our hands on him and we prayed about his leg. When he got up his leg was still
bugging him. After prayer my grandparents went home and went to bed. The next week, my
grandma told us that after we prayed last week, they went home and went to bed, but the next
morning he was walking perfectly, without a limp. That was one of the blessings that myfamily
experienced this past year.
The Spiritual discipline that has been most helpful in establishing my relationship with God is both
worship and prayer. I have already made prayer a part of my life. Every Tuesday my family gets
together and we have a family prayer. This includes my whole extended family. we all get
together and we pray. We pray about our family, our church, the kids, the youth, and everyone 's
separate families. It has had a great impact on my life. We started this family prayer thing a year
ago. We began it the first or second week of the year. This year with these family prayers and just
in general getting together with the family and praying a worshiping together has been such a
blessing. First because we are so much closer as a family. Our cousins, at least the older ones, almost
always go out and hang out after prayer. Some of the people i never even really talked to

I have been fortunate enough to have grown up in a content and supportive family. My parents are

I have a good relationship with my immediate and extended family. My family and my experiences
with them have formed me into the person that I am today. Despite having an average, middle class,
white picket fence life, my family is not as ordinary as they seem on the surface. The element of my
family that has had the most impact on me and my character is the fact that most of my family is set
up in a matriarchal fashion. In short, the women of my family are resolute, confident, and in charge.
Although the women of my family are in...show more content...
Despite these roadblocks, my self worth and determination was unshaken. Luckily for me, the
lessons that I had learned in my family life provided a solid foundation for my character. During
my first years at my Christian school, I readily imposed my opinions on gender equality into
every debate or argument I stumbled upon. Ok, maybe it was more like the arguments and
debates that I started. I showered my unlucky opponent with Bible verses supporting women,
examples of successful females, and my own personal experiences with unflagging women. After
a while, I began really enjoying and reveling in these often occurring, heated discussions. I even
began seeking them out. This game of bait and catch that I played, however, left me with few
friends and even fewer minds changed. It was in my freshman English class that I had a
revelation during one of our class discussions. The teacher had asked us to pick the gender that
we viewed as the better one and walk to the wall designated to that specific sex, and I was furious.
I stood up, when it was time to pick our side and watched every single one of my classmates
saunter over to the wall assigned to the male gender. As each kid took their spot against the wall, I
sat down in my desk located in the middle of the room. This caused my teacher some concern. As
my confused teacher approached my desk, I grew more and more incandescent. She proceeded to ask

My Experience With My Family
When I think back to my childhood I remember happy experience and how happy my family. For
me that happiness lasted until about when I was in sixth grade because it was the time my
parents were going through a divorce. I understood that they stuck together until sister and I were
old enough to understand. At the time that they were going finalizing the divorce it affected my
school work a little. I'm already a reserved person a it is, but it made me lock myself inside out of
the room, not speak for a while. I always wanted to be alone and not be bothered, I basically
wanted people to forget I existed because then I knew they wouldn't speak to me. Eventually, even
if it took me a while I started to think of it as a good thing and I got right back into the process of
being myself. Things did start to get harder at home because of obviously my dad not living there.
We had to cut back on some things because my mom had to make ends meet. It was a tough time
in our house and sometimes even these days it is still hard financially, but we get through. As I
would like to call it my dark days, I sort of lost myself and I still do sometimes. Fast forward I got
older and I still don't like to talk about the divorce, but I have learned to get over it and move and
learn that my mom is happier. I loved school growing up, I remember that I had to switch school
after first grade and I was disappointed and upset. I still know people now that I knew since
elementary school. My elementary

"Hello, do you want to be my friend?" Wow, what a childish thing to say. Nevertheless, it was
from my mouth in which these words came out of. I remember constantly saying this exact line
to almost everyone I know, and the response I got was always something similar to a smile and
"of course", what happens after this is playing for hours on end and departing when our parents
dragged us home. That was how I lived my childhood, making new friends wherever I go and
ending everyone with separation due to our parents. During those times, I would be so annoyed
with my mom, dragging me home every time we started to have fun. I now realize it was because
we were a mess, covered in dirt and due to the fun we were having we didn't even realize it was
raining. But when I had realized this care that my parents had for me it was too late, my parents
had divorced and I was left with my dad. From the point since my parents divorced, I realized how
important family was to me, and I just couldn't be the same as I was before. My parents would
constantly have fought over the phone and I would slowly hide away and pretend to be fine. I
was like a piece of paper that got scrunched up into a ball, and no matter how much you tried to
straighten my wrinkles it can never be perfect like it used to be. As I was pretending to be fine and
unaffected by this divorce the sadder I get because there would be anybody who would urge me to
go home even when I wanted to. My father would leave me with my

Reflective Essay About My Family
Everyone has a story of who they are and how they came to be. We all grow up wanting the
perfect family, the perfect parents, perfect house, perfect siblings, and to top it off, the white picket
fence that surrounds the house. Then life sets in and you realize that life is not all rainbows and
unicorns. The people in our life and the environment that we grow up in, is what shapes us to the
person we are today. Factors that influence how we are as a person are our family, parents, and
society. I come from a family that is hard to describe. We all get along and know when it is time to
unite as a family but at the same time the moment someone disagrees with one another, sides are
chosen and it takes forever for us to make up. My family has...show more content...
My dad was a great dad if he was not under the influence, but if he was under the influence he was
very abusive, physically and emotionally. My mother on the other hand, wants nothing but for me
to prosper in life and be happy. If I were to describe my mom with one word it would be, fighter.
Everything my mother does is for the benefit of my brother and I. My mother has influenced me in
many ways. She has taught me how to stand up for myself, to not be afraid of things that may
frighten me, not to listen to what others have to say about me because in the long run, what I think
about myself is all that matters. My mother is my biggest influencer and supporter and I will be
forever grateful that I have such a great mom.
Society today is a huge influential part in everyone's life. Others may say that they are their own
person and that no one has affected who they are as a person because they are, "their own
person," but society affects everyone to what they wear, what music they listen to, how they
behave, and many other things. Society has influenced me to stand up for others and to be a voice
for those who are too scared to share theirs. I see all over the news and social media, all the hate
that goes on in the world just because someone is a little different then them. Society has also
influenced the clothes I wear and music I listen

My Family : A Family
From this class I have learned that my family may not be as dysfunctional as I thought. There are
many families out there with crazy combinations of who and what makes up their family. 1/3 of
people who married have also been divorced before and people normally repartner within 3–5 years.
The United States has one of the highest divorce rates, only Russia has a higher rate. My family is
made up of my paternal and maternal biological families, my step father 's family and some of my
step mother 's, along with my adoptive family. I have been adopted on my father 's side twice and
some of their family still consider me family even though I don 't associate with either of my
adoptive father 's anymore.
So being adopted twice I have had three different last names and people still remember me by
other last names not necessarily the one I currently have. Many people do not understand how I
can only have been half adopted or only adopted on my father 's side and always have the same
mother. Explaining my family to someone else has always been hard, but taking this class I know
have learned some of the stats of divorce, repartnering, and remarriage after divorce which has
helped me. I think to be able to explain your family to someone else when it 's as complicated as
mine you need some understanding of family.

Over the past years of my life, many things have changed, including my friends, lifestyle, religious
beliefs and jobs. With everything constantly changing around me, there is one thing that has always
stayed the same: my family. When I think about my most blissful moments in life, they all involve
my family. My relationship with my parents, brother, husband and children is something that I learn
to treasure more and more every day. There are many significant things in my life, but the most
important relationship to me is family.
My family can bring out the best and worst in me. Although you cannot choose your family, they are
the people I can relate to the most. My family, they are my cheerleaders, always cheering me on
wanting only the best for me. At this present time my family has made me who I am today. Without
my dad pushing me to excel in life or my brother forcing me to apply to Springfield College, I
would not be where I am today. They have challenged me, loved me and made me a better person.
They have guided me through life and have constantly been my number one fans in all of my life
decisions.
There has never once been a moment in my life where my family was not there when I needed
them. They have been there with me through my best times, worst times and times where I did not

My Family Heritage
Family Defined
The word family has changed so much in the past century. A family back in the 1950's was probably
considered a husband, wife, and one or more children. Times have changed and families have
become much different. The Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others book defines family
as a, "Unit made up of any number of persons who live in relationship with one another over time
in a common living space who are usually, but not always, united by marriage and kinship" (Beebe,
Beebe & Redmond, 243). Families can be broken up into five different types. The first is the
traditional family, which includes a mother, father, and their biological children. Next, is the blended

birthdates, marriage licenses, and other documents of her grandparents. I called grandma Lo to get
some information on my great–grandparents and family stories. I found out I was part Norwegian
and I never even knew it! Grandma Lo's parents were Edward Mulcahy and Olga Shermoen. Her
father Ed was born on April 15, 1880 in Minneapolis, MN. Ed worked as a claim agent for the Great
Northern Railroad in the twin cities. Olga was born on March 15, 1888 in Hawley, MN. She also
worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a matron. Edward was 100% Irish while Olga was 100%
Norwegian. This makes my grandma Lorraine 50% Irish & 50% Norwegian. My grandpa Bill was

was mostly Irish. If we pretended Bill was 100% Irish, this would make my mom 75% Irish and 25%

There are many things in life that have shaped me into the person that I am today, but my family is
easily the biggest influence on me. This is my story. I was born on July 29, 2000 at Stormont–Vail
Hospital to my parents, Brad Tobyne and Annie Beckley. My mom was fresh out of high school
and my dad had been graduated for a year or two before I was born. In 2003, they decided to get

they decided to get a divorce in 2005, right after I started kindergarten. I started kindergarten in
2005 at Most Pure Heart of Mary. I loved it! I had a lot of friends and my teacher was the best.
However, things at home were not the best. Although they never did it in front of me, my parents
were fighting. Even at five years old, I could tell that something was not right. Finally, they
explained to me that they were not going to be together anymore. I remember them telling me
that they both still loved me the same as before, but they no longer loved each other. They said
that we wouldn't live together anymore but I will still see them both as much as I want. My mom
had full custody of me but still took me over to my dad's house whenever I asked, which was
quite often because I was a complete daddy's girl. I never knew why they divorced until recently.

My family mean the most to me. My family is everything to me, they have helped me get to
where I am today and they will continue to help me grow and thrive. My family is not the
average one mother one father one girl and one boy. My family has one dad, one mom, 4 girls and 2

seater car and when all of us want to go we squeeze in. My family is really close too. I usually have
people ask me if I get along with my siblings and I say Yes! Honestly the other day all 6 of us kids

how most families don't get along, yes, my family has fights and we get mad but at the end of the
day these people will always love you and will always help you. My mother is loving, fun, and very
caring. She helps all of us when we are sick, even if you are my oldest sister who is 23, she will
gladly take care of you. My mom works at Southside Elementary. She loves being with the kids and
loves her job. And I am so thankful for her. My Father is loving, caring, funny, and will tell the all
and more of the dad jokes that you have ever heard. My dad works at sukups, he has been working
there for I think a year now; He works hard. And I am so thankful for him. My oldest sister is

She has been working there for about 2 years I think, and she loves most of the old people and has
made many more friendships. She plans to go back to school to become a doctor. (right now she is a

A Story Of My Family
Every family has their fair share of stories to tell with each generation. My grandparents told my
sister and me some interesting stories and my parents passed them on to my sister and I. Through
all the experiences that they have shared with us, it felt as if we were with them and shared that
moment together. With all the stories that 'exist' it was inevitable that there were a few stories that
intrigued us or stuck with us wherever we go.
One story that interested me was about the eventful time that my family had leading up to my
parents' wedding on October 27, 1999. A week before the wedding there was a festival known as
Diwali so everybody on mom's side met to have some fun. Everybody was playing cards in the
house as it was raining outside. Around 10 pm the power went out, and in India, the power going
out when there is heavy raining is nothing out of the ordinary. They continued to play cards in the
light of a few candles, and around 12 it began to get windy and even at this point, nobody realized
that anything bad was going on. It continued to get worse outside eventually, it got bad enough that
the windows began to break and the wind began to rush through the ventilators. This caught their
attention because the houses in India are made of concrete and the doors are made of iron. The
storm was steadily increasing in strength and water began to rush into the house. As the night
progressed, they began to see trees fall down by the dozens. Grandma and Grandpa began to

Such as attending a public college or becoming President of the United States. Education has
therefore played an important role in my life and has been highly valued in my family.
While the expectations of my American and Ghanaian family members were so high, their
affirmation was not always there. As a child of divorced parents, my mother raised and supported
me. My father was always there mentally, emotionally, and physically, but I was financially fully
dependent on my mother. Although she had an education, we still struggled. Sometimes we
didn't know where our next meal was coming from and had to rely on others. We moved several
times while I was growing up and at times, I would be left at a relative's house because of my
mother's need to get us financially stable. Things improved, I remained committed to working
hard in school, and the expectations never changed. Education has brought me, given me, and
gifted me with empowerment, leadership, confidence; greater understanding of social issues and
tools to work towards social justice. As many educators say, education is the key to success. I
believe that not only is it the key to success, but it's also the key to happiness. College will help

everyone in the family is always busy, my mom went to work most of the time and my dad, too.
My sister and me we both have school during the day and tutoring class after school. Sometimes, I
only see my mom twice a week even though she is home everyday at midnight because of her
busy work. My dad is in charged of taking me to school and picking me up after tutoring class, but
he also have his job, he have to get everything in schedule in order to get everything in fit. On
weekend, I am alone by myself at home or sometimes I go to my friend house and stayed there
throughout the week. That was how our life was until my family got into a situation that I was
thinking it is going to be bad, but it came out that I have learned a wonderful life lesson.
One day I came home from school and put my backpack on the hanger, slowly walk into the
kitchen where my mom is making food for our family dinner. I sat down and say "Hi mom, I'm
home" with an excited but also tired voice. Then suddenly, she turns back and walk to me, sit
down on the chair and asked "So, how was school school today, my dear? Did you have fun? What
have you learned today?" with an lovely voice. "School was fine today, I learned a lot from all of
my classes, but the most important thing that I have learned today was in my math class, my teacher
taught me how to write an equation using a formula that can help me in

Personal Narrative Essay : My Family Is My Life
My family is my life
Life becomes more meaningful when you realize the simple life fact that you will never get the
same moment twice. I had lived with my parents until I was 12 years old, but they could not care
for me anymore, because they are working in a factory in Juarez for more than six or eight hours
a day. They did not like the idea that my sister and I would stay alone, because my older sister was
studying at high school and I was studying at elementary school. When looking for a good place
that we may stay, after days of searching they found Centro Victoria de NiГ±os Vida en Jesus,a
small place but an amazing and comfortable place in Juarez. In this is a place a married couple
care for many girls and boys of the same ages as me. Our parents explained the difficult situation we
were going through. They told us that it hurt them a lot to leave us, but that they did not have any
more options. The reality was that we did not have family in Juarez at the time. They told us that
they found an amazing place and small place where we can stay just during the week. All children
that have a family can have a chance to go to the home. My sister and I agreed to live there because
we did not want to be alone. The first two weeks were very sad to feel that you no longer live in
your house, but in this place, we are learning to be good people, get a chance to have two incredible
families and having opportunities that changed my life.
I loved the way my tutors taught us when we started living in this place. I learned how to behave.
My tutors became like my parents. When I was staying in my house, I knew that I was not a good
daughter and I had many bad habits like the way I eat and my sleeping habits. It was obvious that
my parents did not see things as I did, and thus my tutor talked to me about things that I needed it
to change. They explained that this it was not easy, but if I persevere, it will work out as they told
me and that people never stop learning. I learned to like other children, to eat, to sleep, to take a
shower at the right time. I also learned trust to myself, and be honest. Also, I learned that if I fall, I
can stand up because people learn from their mistakes. The last but the most important

Essay My Family

  • 1. My Family Experience When I was young I was always around my family. My family went to every outing we could and we loved to be around each other, besides the siblings of course. Everyday I can remember we would get picked up from elementary school by our beloved Nana because she didn't want us to ride the bus, it always made me happy to see her. From that experience, along with the experience of being involved in so many family activities, I learned the first of my many childhood lessons... Family matters. Most people in the past have told me this very thing so I guess I learned these from a more vocal or verbal source. I've never found conflict in the idea that family matters so obviously it must be true. After learning this I was presented with a plethora of other lessons. I learned that I should always respect my elders and always open the door for a lady. Taking these in created a lot of conflict in my mind. Why do I have to do this? Why do I have to help with that? I constantly was in a state of wonder as to why I had to do things for others because I at the time I couldn't comprehend any positive or greater outcome from the lessons I was being taught. By the time I was in middle school I was starting to question the lessons I learned from when I was young. People were acting differently and didn't always respect the ideals of others. I soon came to realize that other people had been taught differently and whether I liked the way they were or not, it's who they were because they took lessons Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Who I Am My Family? Essay When I think about who I am in my family, I think about my experiences, good and bad, that has made me who I To begin with, my parents divorced when I was just a toddler, so my consists of the maternal side of the tree; they're too loud, too proud, and full of chaos, but I 'm sure that all families have brown spots–don't they? When is a family considered dysfunctional? Is there some secret sauce that makes up a functional family? I have always been curious of how different my family and my life would've been if my parents had a better marriage. I was only three when they divorced, so I missed the opportunity to know my father or any of his family. From which side of my family did I inherit the most of my genes? Most of my mom 's side is loud and hateful. I'm more alike my grandparents; I'm a calm individual and don't enjoy being around draining negativity, but that's all my family consists of anymore. My grandparents have four children: my two uncles, my aunt, and my mother. I remember a time when my family would often get–together at my aunts house. They'd listen to music, play cards (usually pinochle) and just have a good time enjoying each others company. My cousin Danielle had an attic bedroom. She's seven years older than me, so we weren't close when I was an annoying five–year old. As soon as my hand would touch her doorknob, she 'd yell "You're not coming in my room Jessica!". It seemed like every time we visited, she 'd always have one of her friends with her and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Family Essay No one can't meet a family like mine's. My family is well diversified. Every family member plays an important role in all my family's lives. In my family, there are four people: my father, my mother, my little brother and me. My father is one who brings money home and is also responsible for organizing and planning family trips. My mother is the one who is in charge for making meals and makes sure everyone eats at the appropriate times. My little brother is the pet of the family. He actually doesn't have any responsibilities, for he's the pet. I am the rock of support in my family. I always go beyond my parents' expectations. I also support my younger cousins and little brother, by being a role model that they can look up to. Another...show more content... Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I also support my younger cousins and brother. As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing advice on making the right choices. For example my brother had a problem at school with one of his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent approach. I told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how violence is the answer to anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get out of hand, I told him to let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking through with each other. I also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in a while. They come over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I play various sports and activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I am also known for being there Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Day With My Family I believe that I feel the most comfortable when I am home with my family. Any activity we do together is amazing. Whether it's watching a movie together, having dinner, or having something to talk about. There is always a time of the day where we just have a good laugh about something that happened throughout the day. I know my family will always be there for me and I will do the same for them. I believe that I am blessed to have such a loving, caring, and compassionate family. I believe when times are tough, my family is my true comfort. Even if it's the smallest thing like a headache or stomachache I feel better with just my mom doing anything for me to feel better. I don't need medicine to heal the smallest pains; all I need is my family's love. I've never looked at another family and thought, "wow they have an amazing relationship, i am jealous". Sometimes I do the opposite because I never had thought wrong about my family even when we're aggravated sometimes. I remember during the summer we would have a cookout every single Saturday and Sunday. We would all get together and have my dads "special asadas". Which are a special steak well done with allot of lime and spices. We would sit there for hours eating and having a beer. We would call close friends that we even call family. I believe there is no perfect life or perfect family. I believe my family will overcome anything that causes pain or misery. I believe that we are in full control of our own wellness, both Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay on My Family's Ancestry Gathering research about my family and its history turned out to be an interesting and insightful opportunity, through which I learned much more than I expected. When I started this project, I knew that I would not be able to find as much useful information on the Internet as some of my peers. In effect, I realized that I would have to rely on other primary resources such as my parents and grandparents to reveal the story of my ancestry to me. After I had interviewed them, my family history became much clearer to me. More than 2 millennia ago, around the 3rd century BC, a group of Tamil–speaking people from present–day South India migrated to the nearby island of Sri Lanka. Among these people, known today as "Sri Lankan Tamils", are my...show more content... The Peninsula has a hot, monsoonal tropical climate characterized by a dry season from February to October and a wet season from October to January. Because of the monsoons, the region is humid and averages three feet of rain each year, which is relatively low compared to the rest of the island. The climate of the region allows for many crops to be grown including many varieties of fruits and vegetables. While interviewing my parents and grandparents, I learned about many customs and aspects of the Sri Lankan Tamil culture. Sri Lankan Tamils are devotees of the Shaiva sect of Hinduism, mainly worshipping the lord Shiva. The three main cultural festivals celebrated in the area are Thai Pongal (beginning of the harvest), Chittrai Pongal (Tamil New Year), and Deepavali (Hindu Festival of Lights). In addition, pujas (religious rituals) are performed for different occasions, such as the death day of an ancestor or the celebration of a certain Hindu deity. It was also a custom to ask the village astrologer for advice on certain decisions, such as the name of a newborn child. Paternal Great–Grandparents In the early 1900's, Kadirasaipillai and Vairavipillai Kandappar, my paternal grandmother's parents, were born in the village of Puloly, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. They were both born into families of the Vellalar caste of Tamil society and went to school at Puttalai Vidhyalayam, the only schooling option Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Personal Narrative Essay Personal Narrative Essay: Dianna Belous A few months ago, at family prayer my grandfather was having trouble with his leg and he was limping. My uncle decided to ask if we wanted to pray for him. All the kids got around my grandpa, and we put our hands on him and we prayed about his leg. When he got up his leg was still bugging him. After prayer my grandparents went home and went to bed. The next week, my grandma told us that after we prayed last week, they went home and went to bed, but the next morning he was walking perfectly, without a limp. That was one of the blessings that myfamily experienced this past year. The Spiritual discipline that has been most helpful in establishing my relationship with God is both worship and prayer. I have already made prayer a part of my life. Every Tuesday my family gets together and we have a family prayer. This includes my whole extended family. we all get together and we pray. We pray about our family, our church, the kids, the youth, and everyone 's separate families. It has had a great impact on my life. We started this family prayer thing a year ago. We began it the first or second week of the year. This year with these family prayers and just in general getting together with the family and praying a worshiping together has been such a blessing. First because we are so much closer as a family. Our cousins, at least the older ones, almost always go out and hang out after prayer. My parents are still married, my grandparents, and even some great grandparents, survived to see me grow up, and I have a good relationship with my immediate and extended family. My family and my experiences with them have formed me into the person that I am today. Despite having an average, middle class, white picket fence life, my family is not as ordinary as they seem on the surface. The element of my family that has had the most impact on me and my character is the fact that most of my family is set up in a matriarchal fashion. In short, the women of my family are resolute, confident, and in charge. Although the women of my family are in...show more content... Despite these roadblocks, my self worth and determination was unshaken. Luckily for me, the lessons that I had learned in my family life provided a solid foundation for my character. During my first years at my Christian school, I readily imposed my opinions on gender equality into every debate or argument I stumbled upon. Ok, maybe it was more like the arguments and debates that I started. I showered my unlucky opponent with Bible verses supporting women, examples of successful females, and my own personal experiences with unflagging women. After a while, I began really enjoying and reveling in these often occurring, heated discussions. I even began seeking them out. This game of bait and catch that I played, however, left me with few friends and even fewer minds changed. It was in my freshman English class that I had a revelation during one of our class discussions. The teacher had asked us to pick the gender that we viewed as the better one and walk to the wall designated to that specific sex, and I was furious. I stood up, when it was time to pick our side and watched every single one of my classmates saunter over to the wall assigned to the male gender. As each kid took their spot against the wall, I sat down in my desk located in the middle of the room. This caused my teacher some concern. As my confused teacher approached my desk, I grew more and more incandescent. She proceeded to ask Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Experience With My Family When I think back to my childhood I remember happy experience and how happy my family. For me that happiness lasted until about when I was in sixth grade because it was the time my parents were going through a divorce. I understood that they stuck together until sister and I were old enough to understand. At the time that they were going finalizing the divorce it affected my school work a little. I'm already a reserved person a it is, but it made me lock myself inside out of the room, not speak for a while. I always wanted to be alone and not be bothered, I basically wanted people to forget I existed because then I knew they wouldn't speak to me. Eventually, even if it took me a while I started to think of it as a good thing and I got right back into the process of being myself. Things did start to get harder at home because of obviously my dad not living there. We had to cut back on some things because my mom had to make ends meet. It was a tough time in our house and sometimes even these days it is still hard financially, but we get through. As I would like to call it my dark days, I sort of lost myself and I still do sometimes. Fast forward I got older and I still don't like to talk about the divorce, but I have learned to get over it and move and learn that my mom is happier. I loved school growing up, I remember that I had to switch school after first grade and I was disappointed and upset. I still know people now that I knew since elementary school. • 9. My Family "Hello, do you want to be my friend?" Wow, what a childish thing to say. Nevertheless, it was from my mouth in which these words came out of. I remember constantly saying this exact line to almost everyone I know, and the response I got was always something similar to a smile and "of course", what happens after this is playing for hours on end and departing when our parents dragged us home. That was how I lived my childhood, making new friends wherever I go and ending everyone with separation due to our parents. During those times, I would be so annoyed with my mom, dragging me home every time we started to have fun. I now realize it was because we were a mess, covered in dirt and due to the fun we were having we didn't even realize it was raining. But when I had realized this care that my parents had for me it was too late, my parents had divorced and I was left with my dad. From the point since my parents divorced, I realized how important family was to me, and I just couldn't be the same as I was before. My parents would constantly have fought over the phone and I would slowly hide away and pretend to be fine. I was like a piece of paper that got scrunched up into a ball, and no matter how much you tried to straighten my wrinkles it can never be perfect like it used to be. As I was pretending to be fine and unaffected by this divorce the sadder I get because there would be anybody who would urge me to go home even when I wanted to. • 10. Reflective Essay About My Family Everyone has a story of who they are and how they came to be. We all grow up wanting the perfect family, the perfect parents, perfect house, perfect siblings, and to top it off, the white picket fence that surrounds the house. Then life sets in and you realize that life is not all rainbows and unicorns. The people in our life and the environment that we grow up in, is what shapes us to the person we are today. Factors that influence how we are as a person are our family, parents, and society. I come from a family that is hard to describe. We all get along and know when it is time to unite as a family but at the same time the moment someone disagrees with one another, sides are chosen and it takes forever for us to make up. My family has...show more content... My dad was a great dad if he was not under the influence, but if he was under the influence he was very abusive, physically and emotionally. My mother on the other hand, wants nothing but for me to prosper in life and be happy. If I were to describe my mom with one word it would be, fighter. Everything my mother does is for the benefit of my brother and I. My mother has influenced me in many ways. She has taught me how to stand up for myself, to not be afraid of things that may frighten me, not to listen to what others have to say about me because in the long run, what I think about myself is all that matters. My mother is my biggest influencer and supporter and I will be forever grateful that I have such a great mom. Society today is a huge influential part in everyone's life. Others may say that they are their own person and that no one has affected who they are as a person because they are, "their own person," but society affects everyone to what they wear, what music they listen to, how they behave, and many other things. Society has influenced me to stand up for others and to be a voice for those who are too scared to share theirs. I see all over the news and social media, all the hate that goes on in the world just because someone is a little different then them. Society has also influenced the clothes I wear and music I listen Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Family : A Family From this class I have learned that my family may not be as dysfunctional as I thought. There are many families out there with crazy combinations of who and what makes up their family. 1/3 of people who married have also been divorced before and people normally repartner within 3–5 years. The United States has one of the highest divorce rates, only Russia has a higher rate. My family is made up of my paternal and maternal biological families, my step father 's family and some of my step mother 's, along with my adoptive family. I have been adopted on my father 's side twice and some of their family still consider me family even though I don 't associate with either of my adoptive father 's anymore. So being adopted twice I have had three different last names and people still remember me by other last names not necessarily the one I currently have. Many people do not understand how I can only have been half adopted or only adopted on my father 's side and always have the same mother. Explaining my family to someone else has always been hard, but taking this class I know have learned some of the stats of divorce, repartnering, and remarriage after divorce which has helped me. I think to be able to explain your family to someone else when it 's as complicated as mine you need some understanding of family. My family is broken into two households, my mother 's and my father 's. But for both of the households the male (my father 's) are the head of the households, they are the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. My Family Essay Over the past years of my life, many things have changed, including my friends, lifestyle, religious beliefs and jobs. With everything constantly changing around me, there is one thing that has always stayed the same: my family. When I think about my most blissful moments in life, they all involve my family. My relationship with my parents, brother, husband and children is something that I learn to treasure more and more every day. There are many significant things in my life, but the most important relationship to me is family. My family can bring out the best and worst in me. Although you cannot choose your family, they are the people I can relate to the most. My family, they are my cheerleaders, always cheering me on wanting only the best for me. At this present time my family has made me who I am today. Without my dad pushing me to excel in life or my brother forcing me to apply to Springfield College, I would not be where I am today. They have challenged me, loved me and made me a better person. They have guided me through life and have constantly been my number one fans in all of my life decisions. There has never once been a moment in my life where my family was not there when I needed them. They have been there with me through my best times, worst times and times where I did not think I had anyone. As I got older, the more I come to the realization that people who say they will always be there for you are not always there for you. But if it is two in the morning or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Essay about My Family Heritage My Family Heritage Family Defined The word family has changed so much in the past century. A family back in the 1950's was probably considered a husband, wife, and one or more children. Times have changed and families have become much different. The Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others book defines family as a, "Unit made up of any number of persons who live in relationship with one another over time in a common living space who are usually, but not always, united by marriage and kinship" (Beebe, Beebe & Redmond, 243). Families can be broken up into five different types. The first is the traditional family, which includes a mother, father, and their biological children. Next, is the blended family which includes...show more content... William, known as Bill, was born on July 20, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN. He worked in the plaster /stucco business for over 25 years before working at Northwest Airlines. His wife's maiden name was Lorraine Mulcahy. Lorraine was born on August 13, 1922 in St. Paul, MN. Lorraine went to college at the University of Minnesota where she got her Bachelor of Science degree and became a dental hygienist. My grandma "Lo" is the genealogy nut in our family. She has searched for birthdates, marriage licenses, and other documents of her grandparents. I called grandma Lo to get some information on my great–grandparents and family stories. I found out I was part Norwegian and I never even knew it! Grandma Lo's parents were Edward Mulcahy and Olga Shermoen. Her father Ed was born on April 15, 1880 in Minneapolis, MN. Ed worked as a claim agent for the Great Northern Railroad in the twin cities. Olga was born on March 15, 1888 in Hawley, MN. She also worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a matron. Edward was 100% Irish while Olga was 100% Norwegian. This makes my grandma Lorraine 50% Irish & 50% Norwegian. My grandpa Bill was adopted in Minneapolis so his genealogy is unknown. He was told by his adopted parents that he was mostly Irish. If we pretended Bill was 100% Irish, this would make my mom 75% Irish and 25% Norwegian. • 14. My Family There are many things in life that have shaped me into the person that I am today, but my family is easily the biggest influence on me. This is my story. I was born on July 29, 2000 at Stormont–Vail Hospital to my parents, Brad Tobyne and Annie Beckley. My mom was fresh out of high school and my dad had been graduated for a year or two before I was born. In 2003, they decided to get married. I was a flower girl in their wedding. Unfortunately, their marriage did not last long and they decided to get a divorce in 2005, right after I started kindergarten. I started kindergarten in 2005 at Most Pure Heart of Mary. I loved it! I had a lot of friends and my teacher was the best. However, things at home were not the best. Although they never did it in front of me, my parents were fighting. Even at five years old, I could tell that something was not right. Finally, they explained to me that they were not going to be together anymore. I remember them telling me that they both still loved me the same as before, but they no longer loved each other. They said that we wouldn't live together anymore but I will still see them both as much as I want. My mom had full custody of me but still took me over to my dad's house whenever I asked, which was quite often because I was a complete daddy's girl. I never knew why they divorced until recently. Honestly, I am very glad they divorced when they did. I was never upset about it and I always understood that it was for the best. Things happen for Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. A Story Of My Family Every family has their fair share of stories to tell with each generation. My grandparents told my sister and me some interesting stories and my parents passed them on to my sister and I. Through all the experiences that they have shared with us, it felt as if we were with them and shared that moment together. With all the stories that 'exist' it was inevitable that there were a few stories that intrigued us or stuck with us wherever we go. One story that interested me was about the eventful time that my family had leading up to my parents' wedding on October 27, 1999. A week before the wedding there was a festival known as Diwali so everybody on mom's side met to have some fun. Everybody was playing cards in the house as it was raining outside. Around 10 pm the power went out, and in India, the power going out when there is heavy raining is nothing out of the ordinary. They continued to play cards in the light of a few candles, and around 12 it began to get windy and even at this point, nobody realized that anything bad was going on. It continued to get worse outside eventually, it got bad enough that the windows began to break and the wind began to rush through the ventilators. This caught their attention because the houses in India are made of concrete and the doors are made of iron. The storm was steadily increasing in strength and water began to rush into the house. As the night progressed, they began to see trees fall down by the dozens. Grandma and Grandpa began to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. My Family Essay examples I was born into a "happy" family that was actually a web of lies, which unfolded itself through a divorce. My parents' marriage was based on the fact that my father needed a permanent residency card to stay in the United States. Some people may view this as a devastating event; however I have chosen to embrace being an American and a Ghanaian. Coming from two different backgrounds was a challenge, because of the different values and morals each share. These challenges have left me to understand my true purpose concerning my two cultures. I feel fortunate enough to grow up with two different aspects on life itself. Throughout life I was considered to be the "one" on both sides of my families. I was the one who was supposed to accomplish...show more content... Such as attending a public college or becoming President of the United States. Education has therefore played an important role in my life and has been highly valued in my family. While the expectations of my American and Ghanaian family members were so high, their affirmation was not always there. As a child of divorced parents, my mother raised and supported me. My father was always there mentally, emotionally, and physically, but I was financially fully dependent on my mother. Although she had an education, we still struggled. Sometimes we didn't know where our next meal was coming from and had to rely on others. We moved several times while I was growing up and at times, I would be left at a relative's house because of my mother's need to get us financially stable. Things improved, I remained committed to working hard in school, and the expectations never changed. Education has brought me, given me, and gifted me with empowerment, leadership, confidence; greater understanding of social issues and tools to work towards social justice. As many educators say, education is the key to success. I believe that not only is it the key to success, but it's also the key to happiness. College will help me meet my high education and career expectations that I have for myself which is to ultimately get my Professional degree, and make a global difference. It will also help to meet my families as well. College will help me Get more content on HelpWriting.net

My family and I are different, there are families that don't share the same situation as having four adopted kids that are all spread apart in age. Yet my family and I push through that and we look past that, people don't understand they think that coming from different parents would divide us kids by thinking, "hey, you aren't my real brother " That kind of thing does not happen, if anything being from different parents brings us together because we are so different from each other we are curious to learn about each other. Some people see it as a tough thing to deal with and I see it as a blessing for my parents, my brothers, and myself to be unique in this way, and we have always been a religious family so we definitely believe that each one of us kids was a blessing to our parents. The sacrifice that they make everyday when the go to work to support four kids who they never owed anything, never had to call themselves our parents, but they took us in and called us their own and they are angels walking, for the wonderful impact they have had on the lives of me and my brothers. • 20. Personal Narrative Essay : My Family Is My Life My family is my life Life becomes more meaningful when you realize the simple life fact that you will never get the same moment twice. I had lived with my parents until I was 12 years old, but they could not care for me anymore, because they are working in a factory in Juarez for more than six or eight hours a day. They did not like the idea that my sister and I would stay alone, because my older sister was studying at high school and I was studying at elementary school. When looking for a good place that we may stay, after days of searching they found Centro Victoria de NiГ±os Vida en Jesus,a small place but an amazing and comfortable place in Juarez. In this is a place a married couple care for many girls and boys of the same ages as me. Our parents explained the difficult situation we were going through. They told us that it hurt them a lot to leave us, but that they did not have any more options. The reality was that we did not have family in Juarez at the time. They told us that they found an amazing place and small place where we can stay just during the week. All children that have a family can have a chance to go to the home. My sister and I agreed to live there because we did not want to be alone. The first two weeks were very sad to feel that you no longer live in your house, but in this place, we are learning to be good people, get a chance to have two incredible families and having opportunities that changed my life. I loved the way my tutors taught us when we started living in this place. I learned how to behave. My tutors became like my parents. When I was staying in my house, I knew that I was not a good daughter and I had many bad habits like the way I eat and my sleeping habits. It was obvious that my parents did not see things as I did, and thus my tutor talked to me about things that I needed it to change. They explained that this it was not easy, but if I persevere, it will work out as they told me and that people never stop learning. I learned to like other children, to eat, to sleep, to take a shower at the right time. I also learned trust to myself, and be honest. Also, I learned that if I fall, I can stand up because people learn from their mistakes. The last but the most important Get more content on HelpWriting.net
