I am writing to express my heartfelt interest in the esteemed role
of a La Jolla merchant board of directors. The impetus behind my
application stems from a profound desire to make a meaningful
impact on our distinguished community, driven by a deep
commitment to giving back and an abundance of energy ready to
be dedicated to La Jolla.
As a dedicated real estate agent, my journey in La Jolla has been
characterized by unwavering commitment to the interests of both
its residents and businesses. Throughout my career, I've had the
privilege of not only assisting families in finding their dream
homes but also forging invaluable connections within this vibrant
enclave.
La Jolla, to me, is more than a place of business; it is my
cherished home, a community that has offered me so much. My
extensive experience in the local real estate landscape has
instilled in me a deep understanding of the nuances and
dynamics that shape our neighborhood. This, I believe, equips
me with the insights necessary to contribute effectively as a
board member.
In my professional journey, I have honed skills of analytical
thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective communication.
My ability to connect with diverse groups and foster productive
negotiations has been a cornerstone of my success in real estate.
These qualities, essential in any board position, are what I bring
to the table.
However, what truly sets me apart is my unwavering commitment
to giving back to La Jolla and my boundless energy to dedicate to
our community's growth. Serving on the board is a unique
opportunity to channel this commitment and energy into tangible
actions that promote the sustained growth and prosperity of our
community. I envision a La Jolla that retains its unique charm
while adapting to the ever-evolving landscape of modernity, and I
am eager to play a pivotal role in this transformation.

The La Jolla Village Merchants Association is an incredibly special
organization, and it is with great enthusiasm that I express my
desire to serve on its board. As a fervent advocate for the vibrancy
of La Jolla, I would be honored to contribute actively to the growth
and success of the local businesses that define our neighborhood.
The unique charm and energy of La Jolla have made it not just a
place to work or live, but a true community that I am proud to be a
part of. I understand the challenges that our local businesses face,
especially in the ever-evolving landscape of commerce. As a board
member, I would advocate for innovative solutions, provide a
listening ear to local concerns, and work tirelessly to ensure that
the Association's efforts lead to tangible, positive outcomes for all
involved.
My professional background in financial services and business
development equips me with valuable skills to contribute to the
Association's objectives. I am excited to collaborate on initiatives
that drive foot traffic to local establishments, boost visibility, and
foster a sense of unity among merchants. One example of this
would be the development of a Next Generation networking group
for new entrepreneurs and businesspeople of La Jolla.
Ultimately, my passion for developing connections and my
adeptness at networking aligns with the board's mission to build
strong relationships between businesses, residents, and visitors. I
look forward to working alongside the people and businesses of La
Jolla.

My name is Jason Peaslee. I am the
operating partner of the Cottage
Restaurant. We own another “Cottage” in
Encinitas and am in the process of
opening one in Del Mar.
The Village of La Jolla has been great to
my family. Since surfing the “Shores” as a
kid to working my way up to owning a
restaurant her, there has been nothing by
support and kindness. I owe it the La Jolla
Village Merchants Association to be part of
LJVMA. I also want to be part of a great
group that cares about our community.
We are in this together. The Village’s
success is the Cottage’s success.
Thank you for your consideration

I am part of the next generation of American
entrepreneurs, and as a local I have much to
contribute to the growth of the La Jolla Village. As
many of you know, presentations matter. As a young
28 year old business owner, I am often seen with
skepticism for my lack of “experience” in my field.
I make it a point to break bread with prospective clients
in La Jolla to 1. Wine and dine 2. Negotiate business
contracts in-person and 3. Contribute to La Jolla’s
restaurant economy. As a result, I have developed on-
going business relationships with three of the largest
property management companies in San Diego - all
three based out of La Jolla.
In addition to being a business owner, I am an Ivy
League graduate from Columbia University in the City
of New York; I previously worked for the Department of
Defense (DoD) as a Software Engineer, where I was
granted a TS/SCI clearance; I attended the Officer’s
Candidate School (OCS) with the Marine Corps; and I
am an active writer for the San Diego Union-Tribune.
My range of experience is extensive, but everything
learned during these aforementioned periods of my life
has helped me excel during my time as an
entrepreneur. I am confident that these same skills will
allow me to contribute greatly to the LJVMA. I would
love nothing more than to contribute in a meaningful
way to the place I call home.

As a seasoned quality professional by trade, I have been
recognized for my exceptional contributions. At the forefront of
the American Society for Quality’s Next GEN initiative, I’ve
showcased my commitment to innovation and progress by
connecting the leaders of today and tomorrow and named
ASQ’s 40 under 40. My vision for business betterment is rooted
in a genuine passion for sharing organizational excellence
principles and practices, elevating both individuals and
enterprises.
My dedication extends to the La Jolla Village Merchants
Association (LJVMA), where I eagerly anticipate the chance to
impart my wealth of knowledge. My aspiration to foster growth
and excellence is evident through my actions and intention to
utilize the CC Patio showroom for hosting community events
with a NextGen focus. These gatherings will not only foster
connections but also facilitate transformative experiences,
enriching the business landscape of La Jolla where I both work
and live with my Pug @Rosa_Rocks_LaJolla.
The future holds promise for a community united by shared
goals of advancement and success.
My dynamic approach and proven track record as a quality
professional sets me apart, making me the ideal candidate to
join the Board of LJVMA. I am a firm believer in the power of
collaboration and organizational excellence. My involvement
and leadership will undoubtedly inspire positive change and
leave an indelible mark on the La Jolla Village merchants'
community. I am so excited to be connected, involved, and
embraced by LJVMA and can’t wait to jump in!

• My name is Katey Longo and I am the Gallery Director
at the Peter Lik Fine Art Photography. I have been a
LJVMA Board Member since March 2020 and it is my
pleasure to represent an Association that is dedicated to
making La Jolla better in so many ways!
• From the start, my main priority as a Board Member
has been to represent the Arts in our community. My
promise to the board is to always encourage business
growth and help with community engagement by bringing
creative ideas to the table. As many people know, our
galleries play a significant role in La Jolla’s history. As a
gallery manager, I pride myself on showcasing stunning
artwork and greeting everyone with a warm and inviting
attitude. Additionally, I enjoy hosting and planning unique
events, and partnering with local businesses keeps things
fun. I hope to inspire merchants to do the same to keep the
energy exciting in the village.
• In December 2021, I’m proud to say I organized the
First Fridays La Jolla Art Walk with the help of Jodi Rudick
and it has been a huge success. This recurring event has
brought a wonderful energy to the village and it’s something
fun for both locals and visitors to enjoy.
• The best gift I’ve received as a board member is the
community relationships I’ve built over the years. I am
proud to hold a seat on the La Jolla Merchants Board and
the title of First Fridays Art Walk Chair, and I would love to
continue to help La Jolla and our merchants thrive!
• Thank you for your consideration.
• Note: Katey Longo is seeking her 2nd Term on the
Board. She is the Current Chair of First Friday Art Walks.

• It is an honor to serve as Treasurer for the La Jolla
Village Merchants Association.
• I moved here in August of 2019 and opened LifeTime
in December 2020. In the short time that LifeTime has
been a part of this community, it’s been a pleasure to be
involved with numerous community events sponsored by
the Merchants Association. I respect and appreciate all
that this dedicated group of volunteers do to serve the
Merchants, as well as the whole community. I am fortunate
to live and work right in this charming Village of La Jolla.
La Jolla is my home. I would be honored to be a part of the
board of and support this beautiful community.
•
• LifeTime considers itself a Healthy Way of Life
Company. In addition to fitness, I believe our LifeCafe and
LifeSpa bring a uniqueness that will complement the
current board members and businesses. I have been in the
Health and Wellness Industry for 30 years, in 4 states and
involved in those communities. I have helped with
sponsorships, charity fundraisers, and other community
events. I am a servant leader and I offer my service to you
and the people that live, work and visit in La Jolla. I hope to
have the opportunity to strategize and learn from you, the
leaders in La Jolla.

• I have been involved with the LJVMA for
the past three years as a volunteer. I am
currently representing the LJVMA on the
PDO (Planned District Ordinance), Traffic
and Transportation and Coastal Access and
Parking Committees. As a retired retails
executive, I can contribute many ideas to
help LJVMA become a more vibrant force in
the village.
• I can help spearhead new committees to
aid in grant writing. LJVMA has come out of
the pandemic with a lot of great activities. I
look forward to being involved in all of these
committees in any way possible to help
make La Jolla the best place in San Diego to
live, work and play. Thank you for your
consideration.

• As an active board member of the San Diego Tourism
Marketing District and a hospitality leader in our coastal
communities for more than 10 years, I believe in the
continued success of La Jolla and its diverse businesses. I
am proud to represent the historic La Valencia Hotel, an
iconic destination in our beautiful village. In my time as
General Manager, I’ve placed a great deal of energy into
understanding our community, partnering with local
businesses, and bringing new guests from near and far to
visit our community. With extensive experience in both
hospitality and the event industry, I would be an asset to
bettering La Jolla Village. Throughout my career, I have
developed a strong reputation for being highly creative in
developing innovative experiences, actively engaging in
finding solutions, and being a strong partner in
organizations.
• The La Jolla Village is one of the most beautiful and
attractive destinations for visitors from around the world.
Together we can continue to build upon and enhance La
Jolla’s reputation as a sought-after coastal destination. We
do this by enhancing communication and developing
unique village-wide programming to encourage locals and
visitors alike to enjoy our wide variety of businesses and
experiences. I’m eager to be a member of this board to
support our community, help successful businesses thrive
and help other businesses attain the same success level. In
this new environment, it is more important than ever for our
businesses to unleash their creativity and lean on each
other to succeed.

• The relationship between local
merchants and the community is at
the core of what makes any town or

Being new to La Jolla, I hope to
bring fresh and innovative ideas to
the board in efforts to maintain or
even improve it’s already stellar
reputation as being on of the most
desirable places to spend time in
San Diego.
• As a business owner for the past
9 years, it’s become increasingly
apparent to absorb and relay the
understanding that every guest
interaction is part of a greater
community good.

excited to continue participating in the La

• Over the past few months, I have started
to build relationships with fellow board
members, gotten to know La Jolla better and
now feel more at home in this community. I
have thoroughly enjoyed every event that I
have participated in and I look forward to
continuing to engage in all that La Jolla has
to offer. I am also eager to get more involved
in the production of events, especially those
related to health and wellness.
• I have my sights set on creating a
January wellness month event where
community members receive something
similar to a Bingo card and make their way
through La Jolla, checking out the different
health practitioners, gyms, yoga studios,
salons and more!

  • 6. E L N A Z I R A J R E A L T O R B E R K S H I R E H A T H A W A Y L A J O L L A P R O F E S S I O N A L S E R V I C E S I am writing to express my heartfelt interest in the esteemed role of a La Jolla merchant board of directors. The impetus behind my application stems from a profound desire to make a meaningful impact on our distinguished community, driven by a deep commitment to giving back and an abundance of energy ready to be dedicated to La Jolla. As a dedicated real estate agent, my journey in La Jolla has been characterized by unwavering commitment to the interests of both its residents and businesses. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of not only assisting families in finding their dream homes but also forging invaluable connections within this vibrant enclave. La Jolla, to me, is more than a place of business; it is my cherished home, a community that has offered me so much. My extensive experience in the local real estate landscape has instilled in me a deep understanding of the nuances and dynamics that shape our neighborhood. This, I believe, equips me with the insights necessary to contribute effectively as a board member. In my professional journey, I have honed skills of analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective communication. My ability to connect with diverse groups and foster productive negotiations has been a cornerstone of my success in real estate. These qualities, essential in any board position, are what I bring to the table. However, what truly sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to giving back to La Jolla and my boundless energy to dedicate to our community's growth. Serving on the board is a unique opportunity to channel this commitment and energy into tangible actions that promote the sustained growth and prosperity of our community. I envision a La Jolla that retains its unique charm while adapting to the ever-evolving landscape of modernity, and I am eager to play a pivotal role in this transformation.

F I N A N C I A L S E R V I C E S • The La Jolla Village Merchants Association is an incredibly special organization, and it is with great enthusiasm that I express my desire to serve on its board. As a fervent advocate for the vibrancy of La Jolla, I would be honored to contribute actively to the growth and success of the local businesses that define our neighborhood. The unique charm and energy of La Jolla have made it not just a place to work or live, but a true community that I am proud to be a part of. I understand the challenges that our local businesses face, especially in the ever-evolving landscape of commerce. As a board member, I would advocate for innovative solutions, provide a listening ear to local concerns, and work tirelessly to ensure that the Association's efforts lead to tangible, positive outcomes for all involved. My professional background in financial services and business development equips me with valuable skills to contribute to the Association's objectives. I am excited to collaborate on initiatives that drive foot traffic to local establishments, boost visibility, and foster a sense of unity among merchants. One example of this would be the development of a Next Generation networking group for new entrepreneurs and businesspeople of La Jolla. Ultimately, my passion for developing connections and my adeptness at networking aligns with the board's mission to build strong relationships between businesses, residents, and visitors. I look forward to working alongside the people and businesses of La Jolla.
  • 8. J A S O N P E A S L E Y O W N E R T H E C O T T A G E R E S T A U R A N T I My name is Jason Peaslee. I am the operating partner of the Cottage Restaurant. We own another “Cottage” in Encinitas and am in the process of opening one in Del Mar. The Village of La Jolla has been great to my family. Since surfing the “Shores” as a kid to working my way up to owning a restaurant her, there has been nothing by support and kindness. I owe it the La Jolla Village Merchants Association to be part of LJVMA. I also want to be part of a great group that cares about our community. We are in this together. The Village’s success is the Cottage’s success. Thank you for your consideration
  • 9. J A P H E T P E R E Z B O A R D M E M B E R J A P H E T ’ S P A I N T I N G S E R V I C E S P R O F E S S I O N A L S E R V I C E S I am part of the next generation of American entrepreneurs, and as a local I have much to contribute to the growth of the La Jolla Village. As many of you know, presentations matter. As a young 28 year old business owner, I am often seen with skepticism for my lack of “experience” in my field. I make it a point to break bread with prospective clients in La Jolla to 1. Wine and dine 2. Negotiate business contracts in-person and 3. Contribute to La Jolla’s restaurant economy. As a result, I have developed on- going business relationships with three of the largest property management companies in San Diego - all three based out of La Jolla. In addition to being a business owner, I am an Ivy League graduate from Columbia University in the City of New York; I previously worked for the Department of Defense (DoD) as a Software Engineer, where I was granted a TS/SCI clearance; I attended the Officer’s Candidate School (OCS) with the Marine Corps; and I am an active writer for the San Diego Union-Tribune. My range of experience is extensive, but everything learned during these aforementioned periods of my life has helped me excel during my time as an entrepreneur. I am confident that these same skills will allow me to contribute greatly to the LJVMA. I would love nothing more than to contribute in a meaningful way to the place I call home.
  • 10. S T E P H A N I E T H O M P S O N S T O R E M A N A G E R C C P A T I O R E T A I L As a seasoned quality professional by trade, I have been recognized for my exceptional contributions. At the forefront of the American Society for Quality’s Next GEN initiative, I’ve showcased my commitment to innovation and progress by connecting the leaders of today and tomorrow and named ASQ’s 40 under 40. My vision for business betterment is rooted in a genuine passion for sharing organizational excellence principles and practices, elevating both individuals and enterprises. My dedication extends to the La Jolla Village Merchants Association (LJVMA), where I eagerly anticipate the chance to impart my wealth of knowledge. My aspiration to foster growth and excellence is evident through my actions and intention to utilize the CC Patio showroom for hosting community events with a NextGen focus. These gatherings will not only foster connections but also facilitate transformative experiences, enriching the business landscape of La Jolla where I both work and live with my Pug @Rosa_Rocks_LaJolla. The future holds promise for a community united by shared goals of advancement and success. My dynamic approach and proven track record as a quality professional sets me apart, making me the ideal candidate to join the Board of LJVMA. I am a firm believer in the power of collaboration and organizational excellence. My involvement and leadership will undoubtedly inspire positive change and leave an indelible mark on the La Jolla Village merchants' community. I am so excited to be connected, involved, and embraced by LJVMA and can’t wait to jump in!

I have been a LJVMA Board Member since March 2020 and it is my pleasure to represent an Association that is dedicated to making La Jolla better in so many ways! • From the start, my main priority as a Board Member has been to represent the Arts in our community. My promise to the board is to always encourage business growth and help with community engagement by bringing creative ideas to the table. As many people know, our galleries play a significant role in La Jolla’s history. As a gallery manager, I pride myself on showcasing stunning artwork and greeting everyone with a warm and inviting attitude. Additionally, I enjoy hosting and planning unique events, and partnering with local businesses keeps things fun. I hope to inspire merchants to do the same to keep the energy exciting in the village. • In December 2021, I’m proud to say I organized the First Fridays La Jolla Art Walk with the help of Jodi Rudick and it has been a huge success. This recurring event has brought a wonderful energy to the village and it’s something fun for both locals and visitors to enjoy. • The best gift I’ve received as a board member is the community relationships I’ve built over the years. I am proud to hold a seat on the La Jolla Merchants Board and the title of First Fridays Art Walk Chair, and I would love to continue to help La Jolla and our merchants thrive! • Thank you for your consideration. • Note: Katey Longo is seeking her 2nd Term on the Board. She is the Current Chair of First Friday Art Walks.

In the short time that LifeTime has been a part of this community, it’s been a pleasure to be involved with numerous community events sponsored by the Merchants Association. I respect and appreciate all that this dedicated group of volunteers do to serve the Merchants, as well as the whole community. I am fortunate to live and work right in this charming Village of La Jolla. La Jolla is my home. I would be honored to be a part of the board of and support this beautiful community. • • LifeTime considers itself a Healthy Way of Life Company. In addition to fitness, I believe our LifeCafe and LifeSpa bring a uniqueness that will complement the current board members and businesses. I have been in the Health and Wellness Industry for 30 years, in 4 states and involved in those communities. I have helped with sponsorships, charity fundraisers, and other community events. I am a servant leader and I offer my service to you and the people that live, work and visit in La Jolla. I hope to have the opportunity to strategize and learn from you, the leaders in La Jolla. • • In good health, Jo Cullen • • Note: Jo Cullen is seeking her 2nd Term on the Board. She is the current Treasurer.

I am currently representing the LJVMA on the PDO (Planned District Ordinance), Traffic and Transportation and Coastal Access and Parking Committees. As a retired retails executive, I can contribute many ideas to help LJVMA become a more vibrant force in the village. • I can help spearhead new committees to aid in grant writing. LJVMA has come out of the pandemic with a lot of great activities. I look forward to being involved in all of these committees in any way possible to help make La Jolla the best place in San Diego to live, work and play. Thank you for your consideration. • Note: Bill Podway filled a mid year vacancy and is seeking his first full term on the board. I am proud to represent the historic La Valencia Hotel, an iconic destination in our beautiful village. In my time as General Manager, I’ve placed a great deal of energy into understanding our community, partnering with local businesses, and bringing new guests from near and far to visit our community.
