This is a blind woman that sits in the hallway holding an empty hand-container to receive people’s compassion. She
seems to sit as if there should be something put into the basket. A situation that we can automatically think to our self how
we can survive if we are in their position. Try to think if you’re in the place of that blind woman, sitting with an empty basket your own
hands in the hallwaywaiting for others to put a little penny. Sometimes you failed to receive anything while in the other ti mes someone
would fill your basket.
“We” who represent YOU and ME, live in this cruel world that faces a lot of challenges.
Every problem that we encounter demands of us a solution. A solution can be arrived only through
an intelligent understanding the nature and the root causes of the problem.
Begging is one of the most visible and common social problem in public like religious
institutions, market centers, bus stations, streets etc. Wherever you go, a beggar stares you in
the face. Besides meeting him in the street, at the bus stand and near temples, you will also find
him begging from door to door. He begs for money, food, etc. He accepts happily whatever
is offered. Some beggars insist for more money and cause irritation to people. He even
goes on to pursue the man to fulfill his demands.
A beggar is described as poor man, dressed in torn clothes, untidy and un bathed,
have bowls in their hands, etc. Some are disabled with bandages on their limbs and move
with the help of a stick. There are also beggars that are disabled and they are carried in
a cart by another beggar.
There can be a set of causes of beggary in our society including inability to physical,
mental derangement, or society, the custom of giving, unemployment, the collapse of the family
business , whether alone or in combination could create a situation that can cause beggary.
Research tells that poverty is one of the biggest causes of beggary. Defining it as the state
of being extremely poor having insufficiency in money, clothes, food, proper shelter and other
things we need in our daily life.
If ever we encounter this kind of circumstance in our life we need to work for it. We need
to work hard for the things that we really need, we can all do it if only we apply perseverance in it
and also with the guidance and wisdom of our God, so don’t think these kinds of problems are
