2. 1.3 System Models for Distributed and Cloud
Computing
• Distributed and cloud computing systems are built over a large
number of autonomous computer.
• Inter connected by LAN,WAN,SAN
• They are classified in four groups.
I. Clusters for Cooperative computers
II. Grid Computing infrastructure
III. Peer-Peer Network Families
IV. Cloud computing over Internet
3.
4. I. Clusters for Cooperative computers
• Cluster Architecture
server cluster built around a low latency,
high band width inter connection network.
They are connected through internet
via VPN(Virtual Private Network) gateway
• Single System Image-SSI
• It is an illusion created by s/w or h/w that presents
a collection of resources as one integrated, powerful
Resources.
• It makes the cluster appears like a single machine to
the user
5.
6. II. Grid Computing infrastructure
• Grid computing is a collection of computer resources from multiple locations to reach common
goal.
• The grid can be thought as distributed system with non interactive workload that involve large
number of files.
• Computational grid is a H/W And S/W infrastructure that divides dependable, consistent and
inexpensive access to end computational capabilities.(PC,WS, Server, Storage elements)
• Collection of computer s/w is called middle ware
