Dear Sir,
Requesting to consider us for the forthcoming convocation at the EUSL
We are the students of Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Applied science, Trincomalee
Campus, EUSL.
We have started our studies in this campus in August of 2008. We have faced lot of problems inour
studies. We have visited and studied in several places such as Eastern University
(Vantharumoolai),Vavuniya Campus, University Grants Commission and University of Jaffna. We
couldn’t study continuously in a place for a long time. But after the year of 2011, we have got the
chance to visit the University of Jaffna to start our final year which became possible by the Rector of
the Campus. So we are obliged to thank for his kind consideration on our studies.
We have successfully completed the studies and written exams on April of 2013. Later we have gone
to our Internship Training. And at the same time, we have finished our research/ project work also.
On January, 2014,we have received the results for all the relevant subjects in our degree program,
except the two viva exams held on 25.02.2014, one for the internship training and the other for the
project.
Unfortunately, we are not informed the result of viva yet. Therefore we are unable to obtain even a
provincial certificate. We heard that the reason behind this delay of releasing result is, three of our
batch mates were not included in the viva list. And therefore,we are compulsorily put into waiting
state until they complete their viva.
It may be a fact that we need to wait for them if anyone consider on their side only. At this crucial
juncture, we, six of us, wanted to clear the following facts behind the complain made by our three
colleagues.

2. About the internship training
Initially, our Coordinator-FAS and the Rector informed us that the campus will arrange us the
Internship Training by their efforts.
As they promised, they arranged the first interview in “hSenid Mobiles” on April, 2013 in
Colombo. All ten of us have attended that interview and the company selected Mr. S.
Nilaxan and Ms. S. A. P. Tharanga for the internship.
The Coordinator and the Rector arranged the second interview by a company called EESPL
over the phone on May of 2013 for rest of us (8, except Mr. S. Nilaxan and Ms. S. A. P.
Tharanga). That company selected Mr. S. Thinesh and Ms. T. Daweenthiny for the internship.
Between those interviews, the Campus tried in several companies to arrange internship
training for us such as, “Virtusa, WSO2, 99xTechnology and etc.” But unfortunately, they
were unable to take us due to their internal arrangements.
On July of 2013, our Coordinator arranged the next interview by a company called
“YarlITHub” over the phone. Mr. T. Saravanakumar, Mr. K. Suthesan and Mr. A. L. Amaaniy
Muhammad have got a call from the company. They interviewed them and assigned
separate tasks and asked them to response through the email within the day itself. So Mr. K.
Suthesan and Mr. A. L. Amaaniy Muhammad have replied and selected for the internship
training there. When Mr. K. Suthesan and Mr. A. L. Amaaniy Muhammad started their
training there, the supervisor of that company said them that, “they interviewed Mr. T.
Saravanakumar also, but he didn’t response to the assigned task. Therefore Mr. T.
Saravanakumar was not selected for the internship” (Our Coordinator and the Company
supervisor also informed why Mr.T.Saravanakumarwasnot selected).
On the same day of Mr. K. Suthesan and Mr. A. L. Amaaniy Muhammad have got the
internship selection conformation mail from YarlITHub, our Coordinator contacted a
company from puttalam to include rest of the students (Mr. T. Saravanakumar, Mr. S.
Wasuvan and Ms. S. Sobiavani) for the internship. The company has done the interview over
the phone for Mr. T. Saravanakumar and Mr. S. Wasuvan. And the company was ready to
take them for the internship. But later, we heard that Mr. T. Saravanakumar, Mr. S. Wasuvan
have neglected that training (When we called to Mr. S. Wasuvan, he said that they have
neglected that training only because of it is from Puttalam. And also our coordinator got a
mail regarding this issue from that company).
Anyhow, at last Mr. T. Saravanakumar, Mr. S. Wasuvan, Ms. S. Sobiavani and Ms. N.
Luckshika didn’t get any company after that. So the Coordinator said them to search their
internship by themselves also. Ms. N. Luckshikahas got her internship on a company by her
effort.
At this juncture, it is understood that Mr. T. Saravanakumar and Mr. S. Wasuvan have
neglected and did not response to the interviews arranged by the effort of our Coordinator
and the Rector more than two times.

3. When Ms. N. Luckshika has found an internship by herself, Ms. S. Sobiavani, Mr. T.
Saravanakumar and Mr. S. Wasuvan did not try to find internship by themselves. They didn’t
contact or visit the campus for three months. So they were not interested on starting their
internship.
Finally, our former Coordinator (even though he was on his study leave) contacted the UGC
(Mr.L. Nalaka personally) for any possibility of including those three in any of their software
projects. Since only Ms S. Sobiavaniwas interested, she was given the chance at the UGC.
Further, we heard that other two did not show any interest or did not discuss their
internship training with the Campus, so far.
So, by the above mentioned information about the internship training, we, six of us, are
coming to say that,
- Like Ms. S. Sobiavani, Mr. T. Saravanakumar and Mr. S. Wasuvan have faced
difficulties in getting internship training,, we also have faced the same
difficulties in the industries for the Internship Programme.
- As we were included in all interviews, Ms. S. Sobiavani, Mr. T. Saravanakumar
and Mr. S. Wasuvan were also included for those interviews.
- We did not neglect any company arranged by the campus whereas Mr. T.
Saravanakumar and Mr. S. Wasuvan neglected two companies (YarlITHub and a
company from Puttalam) arranged by the campus.
- Ms. N. Luckshika have tried herself and found her internship whereas Ms. S.
Sobiavani, Mr. T. Saravanakumar and Mr. S. Wasuvan did not at least try or find
internship by themselves.
Further, we wanted to point out the following facts regarding our project works.
About the research/ project work
We were informed by the Coordinator to start our project/ research work on November,
2012 when we were in the University of Jaffna for our final year final semester. Our Campus
have requested to the lecturers of University of Jaffna to be as the supervisors to our
projects/researches.
When we sat the final year final semester exam on April, 2013, we were requested to submit
the project report within that month.
The Campus gave the second submission date of project report on August, 2013.
Later, as we requested the coordinator by a request letter to extend the submission date
until 31st
of December, 2013, the Coordinator and the Rector accepted the request (all of us
have signed on that request letter and the Secretary of the student union and the campus

4. have the copy of the letter. And we are the evidence for that letter and it was signed by each
of us).
So some of us (except Ms. S. Sobiavani, Mr. T. Saravanakumar and Mr. S. Wasuvan) visited to
University of Jaffna and stayed there for one week and finished our projects and researches
before 29th
of December, 2013 and submitted them to our department on 30th
of December,
2013.
At last, our coordinator extended the submission date to 15th
of January, 2014 to excuse the
students who were not submitted the project reports. We individually informed about this
extension on submission date to Mr. S. Wasuvan also.
As we were in our internship training, we requested and got special permissions from our
internship training companies to visit University of Jaffna for finishing our projects. At the
same time, Ms. S. Sobiavani, Mr. T. Saravanakumar and Mr. S. Wasuvan were not started
their internship training anywhere and they did not come to University of Jaffna to do their
projects within the submission date.
So three of our batch mates (Ms. S. Sobiavani, Mr. T. Saravanakumar and Mr. S. Wasuvan)have
missed the chance to face the viva exam due to not submitting relevant document (project report)
to the examination branch within the given submission date. As we understood they could not finish
their project as they were not interested in working on project (around more than one year has
finished from the project starting date).
So the campus arranged the viva for the project work for those who have completed and
submitted the project report before the last deadline (31-01-2014).
We feel that the lame excuses put forwarded by those three colleagues are not justifiable.
At last, by the above information about internship training and project work, we are surely saying
that,
We could not find any single valuable reason for not releasing the results of internship training
and viva for the project work. As we explained above, those are the real facts and very true to our
knowledge. And we are ready to explain our sides clearly to anyone at any time.
We conveyed this matter and ask the Vice Chancellor for an appointment. But he neglected and
ordered us to meet him through the Rector of the Campus whereas Ms. S. Sobiavani, Mr. T.
Saravanakumar and Mr. S. Wasuvangot appointment and met the Vice Chancellordirectly.
For the best of our knowledge, this delay on releasing pending results makes us to think that the
Trincomalee Campus and the Eastern University of Sri Lanka are discriminating us by considering
onlyone side.

5. We kindly request you, madam, to consider this problem and give a good solution by considering all
the facts of all the issues and the relevant people concerned in this problem.
We also expect you to take necessary action to include us into the forth coming (April, 2014)
convocation arranged by the Eastern University, Sri Lanka.
Expecting a good decision so that we need not to depend on our parents rather than supporting
them,
