After 21 years of Marriage, my Wife wanted me to take another Woman
out to Dinner and a Movie.
She said I Love You but I know this other Woman loves you and would Love
to spend some Time with You.
The other Woman that my Wife wanted me to
visit was my MOTHER,
who has been a Widow for 19 years,
but the demands of my Work and my three
Children had made it possible
to visit her only occasionally.
That night I called to Invite her to go out for Dinner and a Movie.
'What's wrong, are you well,' she asked?
My Mother is the type of Woman who suspects that
a Late Night Call or a Surprise Invitation is a sign of Bad News.
'I thought that it would be pleasant to be with you,'
I responded.
'Just the two of us.'
She thought about it for a moment, and then said,
'I would like that very much.'
That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit Nervous.
When I arrived at her House, I noticed that she too seemed to be Nervous
about our Date.
She waited in the Door with her Coat on.
She had Curled her Hair and was wearing the Dress that she had worn to
Celebrate her last Wedding Anniversary.
She smiled from a face that was as Radiant as an Angel's.

'I told my Friends that I was going to go out with My Son, and they were
impressed, '
She said, as she got into the Car.
'They can't wait to hear about our meeting'.
We went to a Restaurant that, although not Elegant, was very Nice and
Cozy.
My Mother took my Arm as if She were the First Lady.
After we sat down, I had to read the Menu. Large Print.
Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting
there staring at me.
A Nostalgic Smile was on her Lips.
'It was I who used to have to Read the Menu when you were young,'
She said.
'Then it's Time that you Relax and let me Return the Favor,'
I responded.
During the Dinner, we had an Agreeable Conversation, nothing
Extra-ordinary, but catching up on recent Events of each others Life.
We talked so much that we missed the Movie.
As we arrived at her House later,
She said, 'I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.'
I agreed.
'How was your Dinner Date?' asked My Wife when I got Home.
'Very Nice. Much more so than I
could have Imagined,' I answered.
A few days later, my Mother died of
a Massive Heart Attack.

Some time later, I received an Envelope with a Copy of a Restaurant
Receipt
from the same place Mother and I had dined.
An Attached Note Said:
'I paid this Bill in Advance.
I wasn't sure that I could be there;

One for You and the Other for Your Wife.
You will never know what that Night meant for Me.
I Love You, My Son.'
At that moment, I understood the Importance of saying in Time:
'I LOVE YOU!'
and to give our Loved Ones the Time that they Deserve.
Nothing in Life is more important than God and your Family.
Give them the Time they Deserve, because these Things cannot be
Put Off till 'Some Other Time.'

6. Ageing
When your body really starts going downhill

There's no denying the ticking of a woman's biological clock - but men are
not immune, either. French doctors have found that the quality of sperm
starts to deteriorate by 35, so that by the
time a man is 45 a third of pregnancies
end in miscarriage. Here, with the help of
leading clinicians, Angela Epstein identifies
the ages when different parts of the body
start to lose their battle with time.

• 1. BRAIN
Starts ageing at 20
As we get older, the number of nerve cells - or neurons - in the brain
decrease. We start with around 100 billion, but in our 20s this number
starts to decline.
By 40, we could be losing up to 10,000 per day, affecting memory, co-
ordination and brain function.
In fact, while the neurons are important, it's actually the deterioration of
the gaps between the brain cells that has the biggest impact, says Dr Wojtek
Rakowicz, a consultant neurologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
in London.

the first signs of ageing, but some parts of
your body are worn out long before you look
old
These tiny gaps between the end of one
brain nerve cell and another are called synapses. Their job is to ensure the
flow of information from one cell to another, and as we age we make fewer.
• 2. GUT
Starts ageing at 55
A healthy gut has a good balance between harmful and 'friendly' bacteria.
But levels of friendly bacteria in the gut drop significantly after 55,
particularly in the large intestine, says Tom MacDonald, professor of
immunology at Barts And The London medical school.

As a result, we suffer from poor digestion and an increased risk of gut
disease.
Constipation is more likely as we age, as the flow of digestive juices from the
stomach, liver, pancreas and small intestine slows down.
• 3. BREASTS
Start ageing at 35
BY their mid-30s, women's breasts start losing tissue and
fat, reducing size and fullness.
Sagging starts properly at 40 and the areola (the area
surrounding the nipple) can shrink considerably.
Although breast cancer risk increases with age, it's not
related to physical changes in the breast.
More likely, says Gareth Evans, breast cancer specialist at
St Mary's Hospital, Manchester, our cells become damaged with age - as a
result, the genes which control cell growth can mutate, causing cancer.
• 4. BLADDER
Starts ageing at 65
Loss of bladder control is more likely when you hit 65.
The bladder starts to contract suddenly, even when it's not full.
Women are more vulnerable to bladder problems as, after the menopause,
declining oestrogen levels make tissues in the urethra - the tube through
which urine passes - thinner and weaker, reducing bladder support.
Bladder capacity in an older adult generally is about half that of a younger
person - about two cups in a 30-year-old and one cup in a 70-year-old.

This causes more frequent trips to the loo, particularly as poor muscle tone
means the bladder may not fully empty. This in turn can lead to urinary
tract infections.
• 5. LUNGS
Start ageing at 20
Lung capacity slowly starts to decrease from the age of 20.
By the age of 40, some people are already experiencing breathlessness. This
is partly because the muscles and the rib cage which control breathing
stiffen up.
It's then harder to work the lungs and also means some air remains in the
lungs after breathing out - causing breathlessness.
Aged 30, the average man can inhale two pints of air in one breath. By 70,
it's down to one.
• 6. VOICE
Starts ageing at 65
Our voices become quieter and hoarser with age. The soft tissues in the voice
box (larynx) weaken, affecting the pitch, loudness and quality of the voice.
A woman's voice may become huskier and lower in pitch, whereas a man's
might become thinner and higher.
• 7. EYES
Start ageing at 40
Glasses are the norm for many over-40s as failing eyesight
kicks in - usually long-sightedness, affecting our ability to
see objects up close.
As we age, the eye's ability to focus deteriorates because

the eyes' muscles become weaker, says Andrew Lotery, professor of
ophthalmology at the University of Southampton.
• 8. HEART
- Starts ageing at 40
The heart pumps blood less effectively around the body as we get older.
This is because blood vessels become less elastic, while arteries can harden or
become blocked because of fatty deposits forming on the coronary
arteries - caused by eating too much saturated fat.
The blood supply to the heart is then reduced, resulting in painful
angina.
Men over 45 and women over 55 are at greater risk of a heart attack.
A recent study by Lloyds Pharmacy found the average person in the UK has
a 'heart age' five years older than their chronological age, probably due to
obesity and lack of exercise.
• 9. LIVER
Starts ageing at 70
This is the only organ in the body which seems to defy the ag ing process.
'Its cells have an extraordinary capacity to regenerate,' explain David Lloyd,
a consultant liver surgeon at Leicester Royal Infir mary.
He says he can remove ha a liver during surgery and it will grow to the size
of a complete liver within three months.
If a donor doesn't drink, use drug or suffer from infection, then it is possible
to transplant a 70-year-old liver into a 20-year-old.
• 10. KIDNEYS

Starts ageing at 50
With kidneys, the number of filtering units (nephrons) that remove waste
from the bloodstream starts to reduce in middle age.
One effect of this is their inability to turn off urine production at night,
causing frequent trips to the bathroom.

amount of blood that a 30-year-
old's will.
• 11. PROSTATE
Starts ageing at 50
The prostate often becomes enlarged with age, leading to problems such as
increased need to urinate, says Professor Roger Kirby, director of the
Prostate Centre in London.
This is known as benign prostatic hyperplasia and affects half of men over
50, but rarely those under 40.
It occurs when the prostate absorbs large amounts of the male sex hormone
testosterone, which increases the growth of cells in the prostate.
A normal prostate is the size of a walnut, but the condition can increase
this to the size of a tangerine.

Start ageing at 35
'Throughout our life, old bone is broken down by cells called osteoclasts and
replaced by bone-building cells called osteoblasts - a process called bone

turnover,' explains Robert Moots, professor of rheumatology at Aintree
University Hospital in Liverpool.
Children's bone growth is rapid - the skeleton takes just two years to
renew itself completely. In adults, this can take ten years.
Until our mid-20s, bone density is still increasing. But at 35 bone
loss begins as part of the natural ageing process.
This becomes more rapid in post-menopausal women and can cause the
bone-thinning condition osteoporosis.
The shrinking in size and density of bones can lead to loss of height. Bones
in the back shrivel up or crumble between the vertebrae. We lose two inches
in height by the time we're 80.
• 13. TEETH
Start ageing at 40
As we age, we produce less saliva, which
washes away bacteria, so teeth and gums are
more vulnerable to decay.
Receding gums - when tissue is lost from gums around the teeth - is
common in adults over 40.
• 14. MUSCLES
Start ageing at 30
Muscle is constantly being built up and broken down, a process which is well
balanced in young adults.
However, by the time we're 30, breakdown is greater than buildup, explains
Professor Robert Moots.

Once adults reach 40, they start to lose between 0.5 and 2 per cent of
their muscle each year. Regular exercise can help prevent this.
• 15. HEARING
Starts ageing mid-50s
More than half of people over 60 lose hearing because of their age,
according to the Royal National Institute for the Deaf.
The condition, known as presbycusis, happens due to a loss of 'hair cells' -
tiny sensory cells in the inner ear which pick up sound vibrations and send
them to the brain.
• 16. SKIN
Starts ageing mid-20s
The skin starts to age naturally in your mid-20s.
According to Dr Andrew Wright, a consultant dermatologist with Bradford
NHS Trust, as we get older production of collagen - the protein which
acts as scaffolding to the skin - slows, and elastin, the substance that
enables skin to snap back into place, has less spring and can even break.
Dead skin cells don't shed as quickly and turnover of new skin cells may
decrease slightly.
This causes fine wrinkles and thin, transparent skin - even if the first signs
may not appear until our mid-30s (unless accelerated by smoking or sun
damage).
• 17. TASTE AND SMELL
Start ageing at 60

We start out in life with about 10,000 taste buds scattered on the tongue.
This number can halve later in life.
After we turn 60, taste and smell gradually decline, partly as a result of
the normal ageing process.
This can be accelerated by problems such as polyps in the nasal or sinus
cavities. It can also be the cumulative effect of years of smoking.
• 18. FERTILITY
Starts ageing at 35
Female fertility begins to decline after 35, as the number and quality of
eggs in the ovaries start to fall.
The lining of the womb may become thinner, making it less likely for a
fertilised egg to take, and also creating an environment hostile to sperm.
Male fertility also starts to drop around this age. Men who wait until their
40s before starting a family have a greater chance of their partner having a
miscarriage, because of the poorer quality of their sperm.
• 19. HAIR

Starts ageing at 30
Male hair loss usually begins in the 30s. Hair is made in tiny pouches just
under the skin's surface, known as follices.
A hair normally grows from each follicle for about three years, is then shed,
and a new hair grows.
However, with male-pattern baldness, changes in levels of testosterone from
their early-30s affect this cycle, causing the hair follicles to shrink.
Each new hair is thinner than the previous one. Eventually, all that remains
is a much smaller hair follicle and a thin stump of hair that does not grow
out to the skin surface.
Most people will have some grey hair by the age of 35. When we are young,
our hair is coloured by the pigments produced by cells in the hair follicle
known as melanocytes.
As we grow older, melanocytes become less active, so less pigment is
produced, the colour fades, and grey hairs grow instead.

7. China Trip
Our China trip
My husband Lohi and I were quite distraught

after sending our daughter to her Sasural in Ambala and from thereon - to
US - for our son in law to pursue MBA. That’s when our son took a spot
decision that we visit him in Guangzhou China and give him our undivided
attention and vice versa – for his family was away in US for the summer
vacation.
We went thru’ an agent (the alternative is to go to Delhi and process the
visa – it costs the same unless we have work in Delhi) for our visa
We got a single entry visa – so we decided on a round trip – so that we
could see Hong Kong on our return trip.
Thai Airways was the most economical to fly on.
Thus on 27th
July we started on this trip
With a BANG!
Guess what!? Just when our plane was to take off – one of its engines
caught fire!
Fortunately, the airline handled it well and
didn’t make us panic
They put us up for a day in Novatel Hotel.
Shamsabad – for free! That was an experience
in itself.
We could rest in the room and partake of their
lavish spread of breakfast, lunch and dinner.
So, it was only on 28th
that we finally left and there were no further
problems.

My son Surya (we call him Baba) who
works for P&G was there to receive us at the airport and his apartment
had 5 Star comfort too. Being a service apartment, housekeeping comes in
on 4 days a week and the bed linen and towels are changed each time! He
has a cook Mrs Seengh, who comes in every evening (Mon to Fri)for 4 hours
and does cooking/cleaning vessels laundry and ironing. I taught her some
cooking, including vadas. Mrs Seengh could speak some English and was a
quick learner and found my recipes pretty quick and easy.
My son’s friends came and ate with us and we were also invited to their
houses. I was happy to note that they all live like a large family.
Lohi was in his element telling jokes and he had them in splits

We tried cooking the chinese rice and it was pasty
Then we bought some Indian rice at the Indian shop and cooked it. That
was also pasty

Lohi observed profoundly The fault must be with the chinese water which is
common to both. Ha! Ha!
P&G employees are given chauffer driven cars because they do not want
them to get into hassles with police, in case there is some accident
So Baba would go to work and send back the car
and driver Mr Faang for us to go wherever we
wanted.
In 2 years baba has learnt enough Chinese but Mr
Faang cannot speak much English
I tried to remedy that but failed utterly. When
we arrived there I said he should visit India – He said No passport (Same
was the answer from Mrs Seengh). Although not very educated he could
operate a lap top and showed me pics of his family
We must have worked enough Jaadu on him for when we were leaving he
said he’ll visit India!
To start with he has gone to Hong Kong for a holiday with his family!
I picked up at least 2 phrases. NEE HOW means Hello. And SEE CHAY
means Thanks
We did sightseeing and shopping to our heart’s content.
We observed that China is an admixture of the Infrastructure of US and the
culture of Asia of which India is a part.

The roads, buildings, landscape etc are breathtaking. Govt collects toll at
flyovers etc for maintaining them The traffic is very disciplined like the US.
Special care has been taken to maintain the Ecological balance with lots and
lots of greenery. One really breathes in fresh unpolluted air and that is
possibly the secret of their health and low incidence of cancer in spite of the
fact that people are smoking freely.
Unlike US, both here and in Hong Kong there is public transport like cabs,
buses(even double deckers) and trains – all air conditioned
They use bicycles – very small ones - for commuting short distances
The govt encourages the people to access parks and other picnic spots by
walk.
The Govt is very much in control and the Aam Junta seems happy – Na
Naukri ki chinta;Na roti ki phikar.
Their security is discreet - unlike all the security checks we go through in
India – these days
The common man in China seems to be happy and tension free.

We went with Baba to an offsite camp with his office team

The tower, although not fully completed, opened
to the public on 1 October 2010 in time for the
16th Asian Games, hosted by Guangzhou in
November 2010. The rooftop observatory finally
received its official opening in December 2011.
It was a great experience seeing the city from the top of the tower
Baiyun Mountain (literally "White Cloud Mountain") is a mountain near
Guangzhou,
Baiyun Cableway is the first cable cars for sightseeing
in the country to adopt the homemade movable
cable-holding device with dual clamping, single-cable
cycle with large carrying capacity. There are 80 cars, each can sit 6 people.
The lower station is set up east of Yuntai Garden and the upper station at
the Peak Park, a difference of 198 m (650 ft) in altitude and a horizontal
distance of 1,672 m (5,486 ft) from each other. The cable cars of Baiyun
Cableway pass by such scenic spots as ‘Initial Probe into the Cloudy Valley’,
‘Pu Valley’, barbecue zone, ‘Nengren Temple’ and so on, and the limitless
scenery of the Goat City (Guangzhou) is right before your eyes when gazing
into the distance.

The vegetables (brinjal,/bottle gourd/ridge gourd/karela etc) and
fruit(including leechies) - we ate - were really very tender and without
seeds. Fruit like guavas are tender but not too sweet – nor was sugarcane
juice!
Coconuts are large and they are sold as kernel (a la dry coconut) with the
water intact! I wonder how they shell them!
There were other sightseeing places like the Asiad stadium (Baba and his
friends from P & G played cricket here one Sunday morning) . The opposing
team were a group of Indian medical students! China has 150 govt run
medical colleges - where the medium of instruction is English!
There is an old Chinese village, recreated nearby, which shows the history
the place. This was along the riverside and very awesome.
We visited a village some 2 hours away to witness how the Chinese live
They were very excited to have us over and we felt very welcome
The joint family exists.
Their oldest member is aged 87 years who was
very agile on her feet . She lives on the 2nd
floor
and goes up and down several times a day and
quite comfortably. Most Chinese homes use the
Indian toilet.
Their hospitality was very warm. They gave us a
sumptuous meal with unlimited supply of hot green tea and when we were
leaving they gave us vegetables from there farm as well as of gift envelopes
with money in it.

If you purchase in bulk it is worthwhile
I understand that what costs 6 lacs to furnish a 3 bedroom apartment will
cost only 2 lacs – if you import from china – but it must be bulk purchase.
We met some co travelers who were making thse trip for this purpose on
behalf of their companies.
We too shopped but no great deals

content, it is now known that the fat in coconut oil is a unique and

many health giving properties. It is now gaining long
overdue recognition as a nutritious health food.
Coconut oil has been described as "the healthiest oil
on earth." That's quite a remarkable statement.
What makes coconut oil so good? What makes it
different from all other oils, especially other saturated fats?
The difference is in the fat molecule. All fats and oils are composed of
molecules called fatty acids. There are two methods of classifying fatty acids.
The first you are probably familiar with, is based on saturation. You have
saturated fats, monounsaturated fats, and polyunsaturated fats. Another
system of classification is based on molecular size or length of the carbon
chain within each fatty acid. Fatty acids consist of long chains of carbon
atoms with hydrogen atoms attached. In this system you have short-chain
fatty acids (SCFA), medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA), and long-chain fatty
acids (LCFA). Coconut oil is composed predominately of medium-chain fatty
acids (MCFA), also known as medium-chain triglycerides (MCT).
The vast majority of fats and oils in our diets, whether they are saturated
or unsaturated or come from animals or plants, are composed of long-chain
fatty acids (LCFA). Some 98 to 100% of all the fatty acids you consume are
LCFA.
The size of the fatty acid is extremely important. Why? Because our bodies

respond to and metabolize each fatty acid differently depending on its size.
So the physiological effects of MCFA in coconut oil are distinctly different
from those of LCFA more commonly found in our foods. The saturated fatty
acids in coconut oil are predominately medium-chain fatty acids. Both the
saturated and unsaturated fat found in meat, milk, eggs, and plants
(including most all vegetable oils) are composed of LCFA.
MCFA are very different from LCFA. They do not have a negative effect on
cholesterol and help to protect against heart disease. MCFA help to lower
the risk of both atherosclerosis and heart disease. It is primarily due to the
MCFA in coconut oil that makes it so special and so beneficial.
There are only a very few good dietary sources of MCFA. By far the best
sources are from coconut and palm kernel oils.
Coconut In Traditional Medicine
People from many diverse cultures, languages, religions, and races
scattered around the globe have revered the coconut as a valuable source of
both food and medicine. Wherever the coconut palm grows the people have
learned of its importance as a effective medicine. For thousands of years
coconut products have held a respected and valuable place in local folk
medicine.
In traditional medicine around the world coconut is used to treat a wide

10. Ajanta Caves
AJANTA CAVES...
Ajanta Caves: Over hundreds of years, thirty one monuments hewn from
the rock face! Two thousand two hundred years ago work began in
Maharashtra, India. Then, some speculate around the year 1000 AD, they
fell into disuse. Dense jungle grew around,
hiding the caves away from human eyes.
The Ajanta caves lay undisturbed for hundreds
of years. Then, in April 1819, during the time
of the British, Raj, an officer with the
unassuming name of John Smith, rediscovered a doorway to one of the
temples. He had been hunting tigers – something of which many would
disapprove today.
One can only imagine what went through Smith's head when he made his
find. Such a rediscovery did not remain secret for very long.

Soon, European and Indian tourists were thronging to the site – after
extensive tidying up. After all, the caves had been home to bat, birds and
larger animals for hundreds of years.
The Ajanta Caves had been returned to the
world of the living.
One can only imagine what went through
Smith's head when he made his find.
The nearest human habitation is Ajanta, a tiny village a few miles away
from the caves. The sanctuaries, which are known as chaytia-girhas date
from the second century before Christ.
They were used primarily as prayer halls and are similar to an extent to
the contemporary Roman designs of arch and column. However, these
sanctuaries were carved from the immense rockface of the caves, with
chisels and, indeed, bare hands.
The first caves were hewn from the
bare rock at the time of The
Sātavāhana Empire which started
around 230BC. The Sātavāhanas
brought peace to India after several
foreign invasions and the decline of
the previous, Mautyan Empire.

Although there is widespread debate about the time at which the second
period of building took place, most now agree that it was probably during
the reign of Harishena, from 460AD and over a period of around twenty
years. This architectural flowering saw the creation of twenty temples which
were used as monasteries.
There are paintings everywhere – literally. Every surface apart from the
floor is festooned with narrative paintings.
Time has taken a serious toll on these marvelous works with many parts
simply just fragments of what they were when first created.
The stories are almost wholly devoted to Jātakas – tales of the Buddha’s
previous lives. These 547 poems were painstakingly and lovingly painted on
the walls by devotees.
They were created using an ancient method. The surface was chiseled so it
was rough and could hold plaster which was then spread across the surface.
Then the master painter would, while the plaster was still wet, commence
his work. The colors soaked in to the plaster and so became a part of the
surface. Although this meant that it would not peel off as easily, perhaps
not even the painters foresaw the temples persevering for over two
thousand years.
No one knows for sure when and why the caves were abandoned –
whether it was a gradual desertion of some event of political and

social magnitude took place which precipitated the neglect and
final vacation of the site.
Yet for hundreds of years the place remained forsaken,
to be rediscovered that fateful day in 1819 by John Smith.
They even had running water handy, nearby!
In all that time, no one knew anything about its existence;
now isn’t that amazing?
