A leader inspires and motivates others. The best leaders make leaders of others
Leaders create or have a vision they MUST follow.
LEADERS BREAK THE RULES. Leaders know when change is needed and set out on a new path.
We are going to use SWOT a little differently here. Leaders must know their own strength and weaknesses. Strengths those things you do well are those things you need to put your attention too. Your weaknesses are those areas where you want to delegate. Your strengths are your opportunties but so also are your weaknesses. Not acknowledging your weaknesses is a tremondous threat to your leadership. Those bad managers you have experinced are people unable to accept their weaknesses.
Leaders MUST be willing to hear the truth whatever that might be. If you aren’t willing to hear the truth you will not be able to lead affectively. The truth maybe situational, such as there are systems problems that you need to address and correct. Often the truth we deny and don’t want to here is about ourselves. You must be willing to hear the truth about yourself.
Inspire others to be leaders.
BE flexible and have a sensed of humor
