Coaching a client to success is not simple or for the faint of heart. When a client approaches a coach, the expectation is that the coach is competent
and can help that client begin to set and reach goals. Since the coach is the product that is being sold, he or she should possess the required skills to
facilitate a positive result. Skilled and successful coaches are the coaches that produce skilled and successful clients. Without an array of coaching
skills, a coach cannot facilitate the success of their clients. Though there are many skills that coaches need in the coaching arena, questioning skills,
challenging skills, and motivational skills are especially important because they help start, guide, and complete the coaching journey.

However, I disagree, as a coach I believe you must have specific sport knowledge to the sport in context but knowledge from a wider base to fully
engage in successful practice of techniques which accompany a successful end result as well as being able to develop the athlete on a wider basis.

This type of "drill sergeant" coaching is all too familiar in youth sports. The coach typically runs practices and games in a strict, no–nonsense fashion.
Players who make a mistake are benched or chastised, and they believe in the philosophy that winning is the only way to have fun in sports, every

While competing at the final away meet before the important conference meet, I was alone coaching, because my co–coach could not make the meet
due to his own practice. I had the diving lists made (similar to every meet since I did not want any mistakes) and everything seemed to be going

Siedentop, Mand and Taggart's (1986) effective teaching strategies. 1. Spend a large % of training time devoted to specific content of the sport. This
requires a coach to plan sessions which allow for athlete learning. It is important that athletes are engaged and effectively learning during these
periods, and coaches must design activities which are on task, and meet the learning needs of the athletes. 2. Devote a high % of training time to
meaningful practice. In order to make full use of planned content time, a coach must maximise 'doing' time. Here, it is also important that every athlete
is involved and engaged, which can be achieved effectively through the use of smaller groups and a higher frequency of drills/games. 3. Maximise
opportunities that students have to practice through routines and minimising wait time, transitions and management. A coach must be organised to
maintain flow and engagement in a session. By establishing routines, and having a clear session plan, it allows more time for practice 4. Keep athletes
on task.Engagement is key, when keeping athletes on task, if they are engaged and actively participating then they will be less likely to be distracted.
A coach should set behavioural standards for acceptable behaviours, and actively supervise and enforce them. 5. Assign tasks that are meaningful and

The coaching staff that we will choose will be paid by the school so that does not need to be included into our budget proposal plan, but is a very
important task when picking the right one.The head coach will be a full time position at the university focusing on developing this new team and
trying to get the best players possible for the team.There will also be a forward coach , Defense coach and goalie coach which are all part time jobs

Since most of the sports at Norwich are extremely talented with great young athletes I figure it would make the school that much stronger athletically if we expand our sports programs and add new ones. The amount of money we need in order to fund this program and make it happen will be $78,247. The coaching staff that we will choose will be paid by the school so that does not need to be included into our budget proposal plan, but is a very important task when picking the right one.The head coach will be a full time position at the university focusing on developing this new team and trying to get the best players possible for the team.There will also be a forward coach , Defense coach and goalie coach which are all part time jobs but are good at what they do and take the time to develop a very skillful team. The equipment manager will help with the locker room setup , skate sharpening, washing uniforms and on travel days taking care of the equipment so the kids can focus on the game. Another role that will be added is a student manager who does stats for the games and other little things that needs to be done for the program. This job can be used as an internship for credits. By having this hockey team starting up on campus will attract many more new students to the school and possibly bring the attendance up having the school grow and having more income come in for the school. Hockey players typically are from all over the country and some overseas so for them to come to Norwich university and love the school eventually then the name gets out and you have people from all over the country wanting to come to your school because of all the good things they hear about it .
