For this purpose, it chose to acquire several companies in the food–processing sector in France and abroad: Amora, Belin, Galbani, GГ©nГ©rale
Biscuit, Stoeffler, Volvic, etc. In 1994, the group adopted the name Danone in order to benefit from the renown of its leading brand. From 1997 to
2007, the company attempted to refocus on three priority activities so as to strengthen its position on the international market: (1) fresh dairy
products, (2) drinks and (3) biscuits and cereal products. This refocusing strategy resulted in the sale of several activities: groceries, pasta, ready
meals, confectionery, glass packaging, beer, cheese, etc. 2007 was a decisive year for the development of the group's activities: Danone sold its
"biscuits and cereal products" activity to the Kraft Foods group and acquired the Dutch company Royal Numico, one of the world leaders in infant
food and medical nutrition. This acquisition brought its portfolio of activities in line with its mission of "bringing health through food to as many
people as possible". The products marketed covers all age groups. 2 Strategic business units in 2010 Since 2007, Danone has been focusing on four
strategic business units: (1) Fresh Dairy Products (world no. 1), (2) Bottled Waters (world no. 2), (3) Infant Nutrition (world no. 2) and (4)

Key holders of the restaurant could include the franchisee, an Above Store Leader, Restaurant General Manager or Assistant Manager. Training ranges
from eight to ten weeks (depending on the unit to be opened) and is conducted both centrally in Louisville, KY and in certified training stores. There is
a fee for the training and the Franchisee is responsible for all costs incurred including travel and lodging of the management team.
Do you have a quality assurance program? Who enforces quality?
KFC monitors quality using a variety of programs. One is a customer based shopper program where restaurants receive customer feedback on their
store experience. Secondly, food safety audits are conducted by a third party service to ensure that food safety standards are met at the store level.
Finally, the company conducts CFF Standards Audits in store and feedback is given to the operators regarding execution excellence. Franchisees are
required to meet certain operating standards as part of their franchise agreement.
Will I be required to use specific accounting service software at my restaurant?
KFC's FDD describes the type of electronic cash register system and software requirements to be used in the restaurant. It is strongly recommended
that you use the KFC supported MERIT back–of–house operating platform. You must prepare and keep detailed records regarding all

Unethical Food Marketing to Children
Unethical Food Marketing to Children In today's society, the food and beverage industry is faced with an ongoing ethical dilemma because they are far
more concerned with making money than providing a good, safe, and healthy product for consumers. The biggest victims in this unethical marketing
scheme are children. Children are the least informed and most influenced of all potential consumers (5). Although children usually don't directly
purchase these products themselves, their desires strongly influence their parent's decision on what to buy and what the child will eat. Most products
geared towards children are unhealthy, processed foods that are high in sugars and low in nutritional content (6). This has led to a rise in childhood...

About a third of children in the U.S. are considered overweight or obese, and researchers believe television advertising is a significant contributing
factor (4). Exposure to television advertising is basically universal and the ads present foods as desirable and attractive. Children have been
shown to be far more receptive to television advertising messages than classroom lessons (3). It leaves a harder lasting impression on them because
the food products are presented in a cool, fun way that attracts children. Most of the time, children would pick foods that they may not even like,
simply because they think it's the cool thing to eat and once a kid gets his mind set on what they want, it is very hard to steer them away from
wanting it. Television ads for foods geared toward children are usually fun, and bright with animations and lots of cool characters that the children
can relate to. This directly influences the child's food preference and unfortunately most of these ads are for processed, unhealthy food products like
cereals, snacks, fast food, and soft drinks. In the U.S., there are few restrictions on food ads, but that's not the case in the U.K., where junk food can't
be marketed on children's television (4). After television ads, packaging is the most effective form of marketing foods for children. Packaging attracts
kids with color, fun characters that they can relate to, and toy prizes in the box that may cause the children to just want the toy

Research Report On Science Fair Louis Carter
Research Report For Science Fair Louis Carter Introduction Picture this, a child is at the store and sees a box of nuts and isn't interested. Later
down the aisle he sees a colorful box with his favorite movie character "Lightning McQueen" and begs his mother to let him buy it. Guess what's in
the box? Mixed Nuts. My question is, "Does childish packaging encourage children to want that product more compared to another of the same
product with duller packaging. The purpose of this project is to not fail my class, of which this is required. In 2002 Peterson and Fjellstrom found
that in the United States and other leading world countries that children have gained an increased spending power in the families. This study
followed a trend showing marketers began marketing their products toward the children not the parents. It has been said that every adult product
from "soup to soap" has been scaled down and "funned up" to market to younger children. An increased advertising after school and on saturday
morning has been added to market toys and food to children. In a study of nutritional foods and what sells them to children, Feinstein and Lobstein
defined a child's food as any product that includes at least one of the following: a character they see in a familiar cartoon, 1 Louis Carter characters

Product Placement
Product placement, or embedded marketing, is a form of advertisement, where branded goods or services are placed in a context usually devoid of
ads, such as movies, the story line of television shows, or news programs. The product placement is often not disclosed at the time that the good or
service is featured. Product placement became common in the 1980s.
In April 2006, Broadcasting & Cable reported, "Two thirds of advertisers employ 'branded entertainment'–product placement–with the vast majority of
that (80%) in commercial TV programming." The story, based on a survey by the Association of National Advertisers, said "Reasons for using in

For the next film in the James Bond franchise, Tomorrow Never Dies, Sortito created a $100 million promotional campaign that included tie–ins with
BMW, Visa, L'OrГ©al, Ericsson, Heineken, Avis, and Omega SA. The film brought in more than $300 million dollars.[17]
A recent example is HBO's Sex and the City (1998–2004), where the plot revolved around, among other things, Absolut Vodka, a campaign upon
which one of the protagonists was working, and a billboard in Times Square, where a bottle prevented an image of the model from being pornographic.
Knight Rider (1982–1986), a television series featuring a talking Pontiac Trans Am, is another example ofbrand integration.
The earliest example of product placement in a computer or video game occurs in Action Biker (1984) for Skips crisps, a product by KP Snacks. Video
games, such as Crazy Taxi (1999), feature real retail stores as game destinations. However, sometimes the economics are reversed and video–game
makers pay for the rights to use real sports teams and players. Today, product placement in online video is also becoming common. Online agencies are
specializing in connecting online video producers, which are usually individuals, with brands and advertisers.

Darkness Possible: A Memoir Of Madness By William Styron
I read, Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness by William Styron. This memoir is about Styron and his journey to and from unipolar depression. I
chose this book to read because it seemed interesting to read about a novelist who went through depression. I do not know much about depression
and I knew this would be a great book to read about depression since it has many great reviews and is Styron's bestseller. Styron goes in detail of
how he thinks his depression started and his path to recovery. Styron compares his battle of depression with Abraham Lincoln, writers Romain Gary,
poet Randall Jarrell, and many more. Styron believes that there is a connection between suicide and depression and he attempts to prove his point by

In 1968, BSN attempted a hostile takeover of French glass industry giant Saint–Gobain, five times the size of BSN. The takeover attempt fell through,
but the event made Antoine Riboud a wellknown figure in French business. Instead of continuing his company's specialization in glass, Antoine
Riboud decided to enter the food business with acquisitions of mineral water company Evian, French brewer Kronenbourg, and SociГ©tГ©
europГ©enne de brasserie (the European Breweries Company). By 1970, BSN had become the leading French manufacturer of beer, mineral waters,
and baby food.1 Venturing into Yogurt The company carrying the name Danone was originally established by the Greek doctor Isaac Carasso in
Barcelona, Spain, in 1919. Diagnosing locals with digestive problems Carasso introduced a Balkan tradition that treated such conditions with yogurt.
He imported cultures from Bulgaria and the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France, and initially sold his yogurts through pharmacies as medicine. Carasso
was the first person to perfect an industrial process for making yogurt and named his company after his son Daniel.2 Daniel Carasso moved to France
in the late 1920s where he ran the company after his father's death. At the dawn of World War II, Carasso handed over Danone to friends and fled to
the United States, where he established his business under the name Dannon. After the War, Carasso came back

Brand Building Blocks
BRAND BUILDING BLOCKS
Building Strong Brands: Why Is It Hard?
It is not easy to build brands in today 's environment. The brand builder who attempts to develop a strong brand is like a golfer playing on a course
with heavy roughs, deep sand traps, sharp doglegs, and vast water barriers. It is difficult to score well in such conditions. Substantial pressures and
barriers, both internal and external, can inhibit the brand builder. To be able to develop effective brand strategies, it is useful to understand these
pressures and barriers
Different factors that make it difficult to build brands are shown in the figure above. The first, pressure to compete on price, directly affects the
motivation to build brands. The second reason, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What, then, happens to the people who support the brand with market research or other brand–building activities? They are vulnerable to the
organizations new cost culture.
2. Proliferation Of Competitors
New, vigorous competitors come from a variety of sources. A host of food categories have watched Weight Watchers and Healthy Choice enter their
markets through brand extension strategies. In the snack category, Frito–Lay has seen regional brands expand and Budweiser 's Eagle brand break out
of its niche to become a major competitor. New product forms that provide real alternatives for the customer have encroached the soft drink market,
bottled water, carbonated water, fruit–based drinks, and "new age" drinks, among others.
Additional competitors not only contribute to price pressure and brand complexity, but also make it much harder to gain and hold a position. They
leave fewer holes in the market to exploit and fewer implementation vehicles to own. Each brand tends to be positioned more narrowly, the target
markets become smaller, and the non–target market becomes larger. Efforts to market to a broad segment thus become more difficult in the face of the
complex 'brandscape' Further, some new or desperate competitors may be motivated to take risks or attempt unusual approaches. The result can be
destabilization of the competitive dynamics. There is also an enhanced motivation to copy anything that is successful, in part because the risks of

Disney
In 1984, Disney's stock price had been flat for a decade. Earnings per share were only $0.06. Disney had profits that year of $242 million. By this
point in time Disney had become primarily a theme park company. Seventy seven percent of its profits came from theme park operations that year.
Twenty two percent of profits came from consumer products (licensing Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, etc.). Only one percent of profits came from
filmed entertainment in 1984. Indeed, Disney had become a different company from what Walt Disney and his brother Roy O. Disney left behind. In

He knew the liquid soap would be easy to manufacture and that he could buy the pumps from one or both of the two existing pump manufacturers.
Procter & Gamble, and probably others, would have quickly imitated his product and most likely driven him out of business. These other
manufacturers were many times larger than Minnetonka.
However, Taylor engaged in a form of internal analysis by recognizing that even though these larger companies had a resource advantage when it came
to manufacturing and marketing the liquid soap, they had no advantage when it came to the pump bottles. He recognized that if he bought all the pump
bottle production of the two manufacturers he would have an advantage over firms much larger than Minnetonka. Taylor bought all the pumps the two
manufacturers could produce in a year. He paid more for these orders of pumps than Minnetonka was worth at the time. The strategy worked. He had a
12–18 month lead over his much larger competitors in which he was able to establish the Softsoap brand and capture market share. (Brandenburger

Doublespeak: Unhealthy Food To Children
Major food companies spend billions of dollars every year to market unhealthy food to children. Today, children are more obese than they have ever
been before. According to research proposed in 2012, nearly one third of children are obese (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Doublespeak
is a method that is used to confused of manipulating words into nonsensical, made–up phrases to make the bad sound good, the excruciating sound
acceptable, and the good stuff seem so much better (William Lutz). Doublespeak comes with the expense of children's health by making them more
susceptible to high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. Doublespeak is the manipulative strategy that helps businesses make their

Children are exposed to roughly twenty–seven food advertisements per day on television (Schor). That number does not include the many other forms
of advertisements children are objected to every day. One of the most popular and effective methods of marketing is by using cross–promotional
techniques. Toys, giveaways, and packages are commonly used in cross–promotional activities by associating junk food with movie and cartoon
characters. McDonalds is arguably one of the most successful corporations at selling products to children and can credit most of their success to the
toys that accompany a Happy Meal. Children are encouraged to purchase Happy Meals multiple times in order to collect all of the toys in the series.
Cereal brands are also recognized for including movie related prizes with the purchase of a box of cereal. Packages sometimes offer premiums and
giveaways to trips relating to movies. The partnership between movies and junk food brands turn movies into advertisements themselves. The movies
will have product placement at eye level to children in a partner ship. Product placement can take place by mentioning a product name or showing the
brand. Another popular method of cross–promotional activities is by associating cartoon characters with snack foods. Macaroni cheese shaped like
SpongeBob, fruit snacks shaped like Scooby Doo, and Jimmy Neutron shaped crackers are not uncommon. Children have reportedly argued that food
tastes better when it is in the shapes of cartoons (Consuming

The Key Of Marketing Process
A.C.1.1 Marketing is the management action able to spot, foresee and please the customer claim in a profitable way, is a "process of developing and
implementing a strategy to plan and coordinate ways of identifying, anticipating, and satisfying consumer demands in such a way as to make profits", it
is the tactical scheme that stand at the core of marketing, it is a set of agreements that enable buyers and sellers to exchange goods and services. The
key words in marketing process are:
a. Identifying the customer's demands according to their thoughts and feelings and perception about a good product or service. Kellogg's examined
and estimated the design of Cornflakes as to please and be present at the needs of the purchaser.

Kellogg's enters for the first time a foreign land and continued to expand into new market, exporting cereal to England and introducing ready–to –eat
cereals to health institutions, accommodations and restaurant carriage.
d. Profitability is the way of making profit when the organization is able to identify, anticipate and satisfy the customer's demands.
All the marketing process is built according to a plan that includes the core concepts of it, especially the comprehension of the marketplace and the
consumer needs.
Need is an operation of human activity that include physical (food, clothes, shelter, safety), social (affection, belonging) and individual needs (learning,
knowledge, self– expression). Understanding the market place and the customer's needs is to comprehend the environment where the trade between
buyers and sellers take place and recognize the lack of something that people want or deem necessary. Kellogg's understood that the market in USA
needed the flaked corn for fulfilling their need of healthy products for breakfast.
Want is the size of the individual need that takes form by culture and individual personality. Design customer– driven marketing strategy is separating
market in tiny groups with different need, personality or behavior according to their wants.

Many people care about their health, however they might not be fortunate enough to afford healthy foods. People all over the world are being deprived

we can't stop them from making money. So they should be regulated with certain things. Advertisements need to be changed, their farming methods

All of the factory farms need to be stopped and taken down. We need more family farms, family farms are the safest healthiest places food comes
from. Factory farms have air pollution, water pollution, and mono cultures. Also in factory farms when it comes to the animals they give them all
these antibiotics, hormones, and pesticides. Family farms do not do anything to drug the animals. Family farms take real good care of all their
animals while factory farms don't care about their animals one little bit. So if family farms care more about their animals than they care about the
people's health also. If the factory farms don't care about their animals then they don't care about the people's health. Keeping the animals healthy

Kraft & Brothers Company in 1909. They started to produce their own processed cheese in 1915. This method was eventually patented in 1916.
This business continued to thrive, and in 1930, National Dairy Products Corporation acquired it. The history of Kraft Foods Incorporated is a long and

these three founders were a huge part of the foundation of this business. Through this long history, Kraft has acquired "more than 70 major brands"

it affect them in the long run?
"Ready to Roll" Sweepstakes In June of 1989, Kraft Foods Incorporated put a promotional sweepstakes in newspapers in Chicago and Houston in an
attempt to attract the attention of those markets which they did but not necessarily in a good way. This promotion was called "Ready to Roll," and it

Taylor's view of motivation applies to people who tend to work within narrow job confines such as on a production line. These are people who can be
paid according to the amount of work that they do or units they produce. This is known as 'piece work'.
For many people pay is still a prime motivator. For example, within Kellogg's many employees are motivated by cash alternatives which include the
opportunity to buy and sell their holiday days. Taylor's theory breaks down jobs into components or specialist tasks through the division of labour.
This especially applies to production processes within large companies like Kellogg's. These rewards can help to increase productivity and
profitability. The danger with this is that individuals are simply focused on output to get rewards so quality might suffer as a result of employees
rushing to do the job.
Scientific management is not a process that allows development of people. It limits their ability to take ownership of what they do. Kellogg's staff are
encouraged to be creative and use their imagination to contribute towards change. Consequently, Taylor's view of monetary reward for output is not
appropriate for the motivation required for this type of workplace.
Maslow
Maslow's theory relates motivation to a hierarchy of needs. At the bottom are essential physiological needs such as air, food, shelter and clothing. As
individuals satisfy one level of need, their motivations

Marketing Report Bokomo Foods Essay
1.0. A report presenting market data in order to inform a cereal company Bokomo Ltd. To consider whether to expand more in the United Kingdom
market.
2.0 Executive summary.
This is a short report, containing marketing data on both the cereal market and a specific business, Bokomo UK. The data was obtained from secondary
marketing research. BokomoВґs website was one of the main reference guide.
With the findings and analysis, it was recommended that Bokomo should expand their own brand products more in the UK.
The PEST analysis of the UK grocery industry included in this report was used to highlight the external factors that can affect Bokomo's operation and

Migration also leads to a change in size of labour pool, which could have an effect on the availability of workers. Latest figures from the Office for
National Statistics show some 503,000 people came to live in the UK in the year ending June 2013, compared with 517,000 people the previous year
(ONS.gov, 2013).
4.2 Economic
Economic factors are important to consider in regard to the UK grocery market, as they are highly influential to demand, costs, prices, and profit. One
of the most influential factors on the economy is high unemployment level, which decreases the effective demand for many goods, adversely affecting
the demand required to produce such goods. Unemployment in the UK is at 7.1% as of January 2014, according to BBC. Another highly relevant
economic factor is the grocery market size and the market growth. IGD forecast that the UK grocery market value will be worth ВЈ205.9bn in 2018, a
21.3% increase on 2013 (IGD.com, 2013). This is beneficial news to Bokomo, since any expansion would be possible in regard to the availability of
area in the market to expand. Another market characteristic of importance is the amount of spending on groceries in regard to overall retail
expenditure in the UK. The grocery market's share accounts for 54.9p in every ВЈ1 of UK retail spending (IGD.com, 2013).

Childhood Obesity : A Growing Public Health Concern Essay
Childhood obesity is a growing public health concern in the UK. Data obtained from the National Child Measurement programme 2013/14 showed
that a third of children in England are classified as overweight or obese (Wilkie et al., 2016). If current trends continue, 50% of all 10 year–olds will be
overweight or obese by 2020. Obese and overweight individuals have a 10% increased risk of developing chronic diseases such as cancers,
hypertension and type 2 diabetes (Kopelman, 2007). Consequently, this poses not only health risks to those who are overweight or obese but a future
potential public health economic burden.
There are a number of evidence and observations to support the hypothesis that sugar–sweetened beverage (SSB), defined as soft drinks, colas, other
sweetened carbonated beverage and fruit drinks with added sugar, may play an important role in obesity risk and development (Te Morenga et al.,
2013). Indeed, SSBs represent the leading source of free sugars1 in the diet and their effects have been specifically linked to the contribution towards
the development of chronic metabolic conditions, including type 2 diabetes and other comorbidities (Malik et al., 2006). However, obesity is not the
only condition associated with the SSBs consumption. SSBs intake has been shown to significantly increase the levels of dental caries for instance, in
a study of over 6000 14–year–old students in North Western England (Jones et al., 1999). Therefore, the link between obesity, dental

Brand and Packaging
The Power of Packaging
Alice Louw & Michelle Kimber
The Customer Equity Company*
In recent years packaging has developed well beyond its original function as merely a means of product protection and now plays a key marketing role
in developing on shelf appeal, providing product information and establishing brand image and awareness. As packaging's role in the marketing mix
gains momentum, so research into this arena becomes increasingly important. Given the potential for packaging to successfully achieve marketing
goals; does research into packaging truly reflects its value within the marketing mix? Do we fully understand the role that packaging plays in a
marketing environment and how best to leverage this tool to influence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to its benefits in terms of reach, some marketers believe that packaging is actually more influential than advertising in influencing
consumers, as it has a more direct impact on how they perceive and experience the product. "In most cases, our experience has been that pack designs
are more likely to influence the consumer perception of the brand than advertising" (Hofmeyr and Rice, 2000, Commitment–led Marketing, pg 282).
For products with low advertising support, packaging takes on an even more significant role as the key vehicle for communicating the brand
positioning (Rudh, 2005, pg. 680). 4
Winning at the First and Second Moment of Truth
Packaging's dual role is what makes it a truly unique marketing tool. Unlike other forms of communication which tend to be fleeting, packaging plays
a crucial role not only at the point of sale, but also after the actual purchase of the product. "The packaging has to provide consumers with the right cues
and clues – both at the point of purchase and during usage. The first moment of truth is about obtaining customers attention and communicating the
benefits of the offer. The second moment of truth is about providing the tools thecustomer needs to experience the benefits when using the product"
(Löfgrun, 2005, Winning at the 1st... pg 113) The Point Of Sale (The 1st Moment Of Truth) The importance of making an impact at the point of sale
cannot be underestimated. "A recent Point of Purchase

good causes. The gifts were purchased during the week and distributed to classes today. ABC^2 (Academically Better Children's Club) held a bake

to raise because it's our first time, but we're hoping for a goal of around $300," said ABC^2 President Brandie To. The club sold store–bought muffins

"To prevent competition, we initially only allowed one club to sell during the week. This year, we made sure that the clubs talked to each other
about selling similar items. As long as the officers of Chinese Club are okay with it, we would allow it," explained ASB Club Commissioner Chris
Ma. "The two other clubs talked to us about selling valentine grams at the same time; we decided that it was okay since Make–A–Wish's teddy bears
looked different from ours and ABC^2 is donating to charity," revealed Chi– nese Club President Shian Hong. All three clubs allowed the option of
sending the valentine grams anonymously. All grams are being delivered today during class. "I bought a rose for my friend anonymously because
I want to surprise her," said sophomore Jeffrey Hua, just one of the many anonymous senders. According to Shian, almost all customers send
anonymously. While some students like to send anonymous gifts to their special someone, others buy valentine grams for friends just to show a
little love. "I bought a rose for my friend because she told me she wanted one," said senior Leann Nguyen. However, a slight drop in sales this year
compared to previous years was noted and may be a possible effect of our country's recent economic struggles, observed Shian. "Last year, we sold 50

The Day Of The Door
The numbers turned to eight o'clock, and I reached over and turned the alarm off. Getting out of bed, I did my best to make it look like it hadn't
been used. I stood back and was satisfied. Going to the dresser, I took out a clean set of clothes. With ten minutes to spare, I had finished showering
and had returned to my room. I spent the next five making sure everything was cleaned up and put away. I sat on the bed, and watched the door. My
heart was starting to beat fast with every passing minute. Nothing I tried would calm my nerves. Sir was very unpredictable. The clock showed eight

put the remote?" I shook my head. Sir shoved his hand along the back of the couch. "Never mind, I found it." Sitting down, he turned on the TV
and began pushing button that changed the picture on the screen. Stopping on a channel that showed a group of humans playing a game, he
tossed the remote on the coffee table. "I think that will keep you entertained until I get back." He stood and walked to the door. Shoving his keys
in his pocket, he turned to me. "Stay in the living room. I'll see you in a couple hours." He stepped into the hall and I heard the door locked. I

It becomes an issue when a child would rather sit and watch TV endlessly instead of going outside or even staying inside to engage in physical
activity. Some children might even eat and drink while watching television causing even more excessive weight gain. Children need to get back to
playing outside and increasing their physical activity daily so extra calories can be burned instead of stored as fat. Over the years, academic
pressure, the need for children to perform, competition with other countries, etc., has forced schools to slowly stray away from recess and physical
education. This decision has also become a contributing factor to childhood obesity as well. According to the American Association for the Child's
Right to Play, twenty percent of elementary schools in the U.S. have banned recess so students can spend more time on course curriculum in the
classroom. It is important for every child to at least have thirty minutes of physical activity a day to reduce negative health issues. Currently, less than
twenty five percent of children in the US get thirty minutes of physical activity a day (International Life Sciences, 1997). With less activity and
excessive weight gain, health problems become a major issue to childhood obesity. An overweight child can have the same health issues as an
overweight adult. Obesity can cause high blood pressure; Type II Diabetes and depression just to name a few. Children that are severely obese miss

Companies are Tricking People Through Marketing...
Companies use advertisements as a mirror for their products. They use advertisements to encourage, persuade, or manipulate their audience. The
most important factor for the company is how the advertisements will appeal to the customers. Companies use psychologists to help them gauge
social trends. Time and culture are very important as well companies need to know what people like, value, or need the most at a certain time.
They consider all of these factors when promoting their products, yet they do not consider the quality of said products. Companies have been
successful with marketing advertisement because people usually pay too much attention to the advertisements to pick what works best for them,
while trying to buy something. The first and second advertisements are about how the corporations use Disney characters and happy kids on food
or toys products. Many food and toys, especially geared for children, usually have a kind of contest that goes along with it. If you buy 'this', you
have a chance to win 'this' which makes kids want it more. Usually a PlayStation or Xbox is the big prize offered. Many things geared towards the
children have a big impact on the child who then makes it a big impact on the parent. Most of the times companies use happy or cute kids to promote
yogurt, cereal and toys advertisements, because people like cute kids. Also all children are looking for that happiness and joy but when they buy it they
do not find what they were looking for. The

The Effects Of Advertising On Children 's Body Type By...
Introduction: Over time our minds have changed again, and again about the idea of "advertising to children". In just the past few decades, there has
been a major increase of obesity not only young adults, but children as well. The scariest part of American 's gaining weight, is that our youth has
been gaining more weight than any other age group within our country. The way we are able to calculate how healthy or unhealthy a certain weight
is, is by using a body mass index scale (BMI). We use this tool to determine the healthiest range for our body type by plugging in our height and
weight. Since the early 1980 's to now, nearly 15% of children have been diagnosed with obesity in the United States alone. This information is

What parents need to keep in mind is that, these children are very young and they need their nutrition before they need sweets. I have opened up a
child 's lunch box myself, peering in and noticing that they have a total of 4 food items.
1.Nutella filled sandwich dripping with Nutella.
2.Hershey 's chocolate bar with peanuts.
3.Honey Glazed Honey bun.
4.Chocolate covered almonds.
This was all within the same lunch box! Once again we ask why our children are obese? Gene 's? Parents? Either way, what is making these children
want to eat the way that they eat?
Verdict:
Every day these children can be seen in front of a television, or an electronic device. Within the last 15 years the internet has really made a difference
in our lives as well as how our society interacts. Children in 2015 are more exposed to advertising and the media, than they were just in 1990. Within
this short amount of time, the media have really changed their main focus to be children. Flipping through cartoon channels you can see several fast
food restaurants advertising to children.
Television Advertising to children: Over 65% of the adult population in the world will tell you that they are visual learners. The same goes for our

as well as foods with unnatural added sugars. Over 70 percent of

Devil in the White City Essay
Devil in the White City written by Erik Larson is a true story based on the building of the most important fair in the United States of America, the
1893 Columbian Exposition World's Fair in Chicago. Erik Larson also told the story of the psychopathic murderer; H.H. Holmes used his World's
Fair Hotel as an evil castle to lure in young women who came to see the fair. The story starts off with Larson describing thatChicago won the
Congressional vote to host the World's Fair and beat out its competitionNew York City. In only two short years, the White City was built. The fair
brought in an estimated 40 million visitors in the only six months it was open. Daniel Burnham was the chief architect of the World's Fair. Burnham had

Burnham and his partner John Root were Chicago's leading architects. Daniel Burnham had experience in designing buildings that had never been
attempted. Despite the soil conditions, Burnham and Root built the very first skyscraper, The Montauk. Burnham had extraordinary managerial and
organizational skills. Burnham and Root together were able to build their firm to be one of the best in Chicago. They continued to do many
challenging projects such as the Rookery and the Monadnock. Daniel Burnham handled many difficult times before he made a positive name for
himself. Burnham was also very good to all his employees, "He installed a gym. During lunch hour employees played handball. Burnham gave
fencing lessons. Root played impromptu recitals on a rented piano," (Larson 2003, 27). In 1885, a fire had destroyed the Grannis Block that was
Burnham and Root's flagship structure. In 1888, "a hotel they had designed in Kansas City collapsed during construction, injuring several men and
killing one" (Larson 2003, 29). With all the verbal attacks on Burnham's career over both of the incidences, he remained very calm, but he was still
very heartbroken.
Daniel Burnham had to overcome many manmade and natural obstacles in building the World's Fair. The most important obstacle Burnham had to
overcome was time. He was only given three years to build the World's Fair. Daniel Burnham hired four

For this purpose, it chose to acquire several companies in the food–processing sector in France and abroad: Amora, Belin, Galbani, GГ©nГ©rale Biscuit, Stoeffler, Volvic, etc. In 1994, the group adopted the name Danone in order to benefit from the renown of its leading brand. From 1997 to 2007, the company attempted to refocus on three priority activities so as to strengthen its position on the international market: (1) fresh dairy products, (2) drinks and (3) biscuits and cereal products. This refocusing strategy resulted in the sale of several activities: groceries, pasta, ready meals, confectionery, glass packaging, beer, cheese, etc. 2007 was a decisive year for the development of the group's activities: Danone sold its "biscuits and cereal products" activity to the Kraft Foods group and acquired the Dutch company Royal Numico, one of the world leaders in infant food and medical nutrition. This acquisition brought its portfolio of activities in line with its mission of "bringing health through food to as many people as possible". The products marketed covers all age groups. 2 Strategic business units in 2010 Since 2007, Danone has been focusing on four strategic business units: (1) Fresh Dairy Products (world no. 1), (2) Bottled Waters (world no. 2), (3) Infant Nutrition (world no. 2) and (4) ... • 4. Unethical Food Marketing to Children Unethical Food Marketing to Children In today's society, the food and beverage industry is faced with an ongoing ethical dilemma because they are far more concerned with making money than providing a good, safe, and healthy product for consumers. The biggest victims in this unethical marketing scheme are children. Children are the least informed and most influenced of all potential consumers (5). Although children usually don't directly purchase these products themselves, their desires strongly influence their parent's decision on what to buy and what the child will eat. Most products geared towards children are unhealthy, processed foods that are high in sugars and low in nutritional content (6). This has led to a rise in childhood... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... About a third of children in the U.S. are considered overweight or obese, and researchers believe television advertising is a significant contributing factor (4). Exposure to television advertising is basically universal and the ads present foods as desirable and attractive. Children have been shown to be far more receptive to television advertising messages than classroom lessons (3). It leaves a harder lasting impression on them because the food products are presented in a cool, fun way that attracts children. Most of the time, children would pick foods that they may not even like, simply because they think it's the cool thing to eat and once a kid gets his mind set on what they want, it is very hard to steer them away from wanting it. Television ads for foods geared toward children are usually fun, and bright with animations and lots of cool characters that the children can relate to. This directly influences the child's food preference and unfortunately most of these ads are for processed, unhealthy food products like cereals, snacks, fast food, and soft drinks. In the U.S., there are few restrictions on food ads, but that's not the case in the U.K., where junk food can't be marketed on children's television (4). After television ads, packaging is the most effective form of marketing foods for children. Packaging attracts kids with color, fun characters that they can relate to, and toy prizes in the box that may cause the children to just want the toy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Later down the aisle he sees a colorful box with his favorite movie character "Lightning McQueen" and begs his mother to let him buy it. Guess what's in the box? Mixed Nuts. My question is, "Does childish packaging encourage children to want that product more compared to another of the same product with duller packaging. The purpose of this project is to not fail my class, of which this is required. In 2002 Peterson and Fjellstrom found that in the United States and other leading world countries that children have gained an increased spending power in the families. This study followed a trend showing marketers began marketing their products toward the children not the parents. It has been said that every adult product from "soup to soap" has been scaled down and "funned up" to market to younger children. An increased advertising after school and on saturday morning has been added to market toys and food to children. Product Placement Product placement, or embedded marketing, is a form of advertisement, where branded goods or services are placed in a context usually devoid of ads, such as movies, the story line of television shows, or news programs. The product placement is often not disclosed at the time that the good or service is featured. Product placement became common in the 1980s. In April 2006, Broadcasting & Cable reported, "Two thirds of advertisers employ 'branded entertainment'–product placement–with the vast majority of that (80%) in commercial TV programming." The story, based on a survey by the Association of National Advertisers, said "Reasons for using in –show plugs varied from 'stronger emotional connection' to better dovetailing with relevant content, ... For the next film in the James Bond franchise, Tomorrow Never Dies, Sortito created a $100 million promotional campaign that included tie–ins with BMW, Visa, L'OrГ©al, Ericsson, Heineken, Avis, and Omega SA. The film brought in more than $300 million dollars.[17] A recent example is HBO's Sex and the City (1998–2004), where the plot revolved around, among other things, Absolut Vodka, a campaign upon which one of the protagonists was working, and a billboard in Times Square, where a bottle prevented an image of the model from being pornographic. Knight Rider (1982–1986), a television series featuring a talking Pontiac Trans Am, is another example ofbrand integration. The earliest example of product placement in a computer or video game occurs in Action Biker (1984) for Skips crisps, a product by KP Snacks. Video games, such as Crazy Taxi (1999), feature real retail stores as game destinations. However, sometimes the economics are reversed and video–game makers pay for the rights to use real sports teams and players. Today, product placement in online video is also becoming common. Online agencies are specializing in connecting online video producers, which are usually individuals, with brands and advertisers. It is difficult to score well in such conditions. Substantial pressures and barriers, both internal and external, can inhibit the brand builder. Proliferation Of Competitors New, vigorous competitors come from a variety of sources. A host of food categories have watched Weight Watchers and Healthy Choice enter their markets through brand extension strategies. In the snack category, Frito–Lay has seen regional brands expand and Budweiser 's Eagle brand break out of its niche to become a major competitor. New product forms that provide real alternatives for the customer have encroached the soft drink market, bottled water, carbonated water, fruit–based drinks, and "new age" drinks, among others. Additional competitors not only contribute to price pressure and brand complexity, but also make it much harder to gain and hold a position. They leave fewer holes in the market to exploit and fewer implementation vehicles to own. Each brand tends to be positioned more narrowly, the target markets become smaller, and the non–target market becomes larger. Efforts to market to a broad segment thus become more difficult in the face of the complex 'brandscape' Further, some new or desperate competitors may be motivated to take risks or attempt unusual approaches. The result can be destabilization of the competitive dynamics. There is also an enhanced motivation to copy anything that is successful, in part because the risks of

Procter & Gamble, and probably others, would have quickly imitated his product and most likely driven him out of business. These other manufacturers were many times larger than Minnetonka. However, Taylor engaged in a form of internal analysis by recognizing that even though these larger companies had a resource advantage when it came to manufacturing and marketing the liquid soap, they had no advantage when it came to the pump bottles. He recognized that if he bought all the pump bottle production of the two manufacturers he would have an advantage over firms much larger than Minnetonka. Taylor bought all the pumps the two manufacturers could produce in a year. He paid more for these orders of pumps than Minnetonka was worth at the time. The strategy worked. Taylor's view of motivation applies to people who tend to work within narrow job confines such as on a production line. These are people who can be paid according to the amount of work that they do or units they produce. This is known as 'piece work'. For many people pay is still a prime motivator. For example, within Kellogg's many employees are motivated by cash alternatives which include the opportunity to buy and sell their holiday days. Taylor's theory breaks down jobs into components or specialist tasks through the division of labour. This especially applies to production processes within large companies like Kellogg's. These rewards can help to increase productivity and profitability. The danger with this is that individuals are simply focused on output to get rewards so quality might suffer as a result of employees rushing to do the job. Scientific management is not a process that allows development of people. It limits their ability to take ownership of what they do. Kellogg's staff are encouraged to be creative and use their imagination to contribute towards change. Consequently, Taylor's view of monetary reward for output is not appropriate for the motivation required for this type of workplace. Maslow Maslow's theory relates motivation to a hierarchy of needs. At the bottom are essential physiological needs such as air, food, shelter and clothing. As individuals satisfy one level of need, their motivations

One of the most influential factors on the economy is high unemployment level, which decreases the effective demand for many goods, adversely affecting the demand required to produce such goods. Unemployment in the UK is at 7.1% as of January 2014, according to BBC. Another highly relevant economic factor is the grocery market size and the market growth. IGD forecast that the UK grocery market value will be worth ВЈ205.9bn in 2018, a 21.3% increase on 2013 (IGD.com, 2013). • 29. Childhood Obesity : A Growing Public Health Concern Essay Childhood obesity is a growing public health concern in the UK. Data obtained from the National Child Measurement programme 2013/14 showed that a third of children in England are classified as overweight or obese (Wilkie et al., 2016). If current trends continue, 50% of all 10 year–olds will be overweight or obese by 2020. Obese and overweight individuals have a 10% increased risk of developing chronic diseases such as cancers, hypertension and type 2 diabetes (Kopelman, 2007). Consequently, this poses not only health risks to those who are overweight or obese but a future potential public health economic burden. There are a number of evidence and observations to support the hypothesis that sugar–sweetened beverage (SSB), defined as soft drinks, colas, other sweetened carbonated beverage and fruit drinks with added sugar, may play an important role in obesity risk and development (Te Morenga et al., 2013). Indeed, SSBs represent the leading source of free sugars1 in the diet and their effects have been specifically linked to the contribution towards the development of chronic metabolic conditions, including type 2 diabetes and other comorbidities (Malik et al., 2006). However, obesity is not the only condition associated with the SSBs consumption. SSBs intake has been shown to significantly increase the levels of dental caries for instance, in a study of over 6000 14–year–old students in North Western England (Jones et al., 1999). Brand and Packaging The Power of Packaging Alice Louw & Michelle Kimber The Customer Equity Company* In recent years packaging has developed well beyond its original function as merely a means of product protection and now plays a key marketing role in developing on shelf appeal, providing product information and establishing brand image and awareness. As packaging's role in the marketing mix gains momentum, so research into this arena becomes increasingly important. In addition to its benefits in terms of reach, some marketers believe that packaging is actually more influential than advertising in influencing consumers, as it has a more direct impact on how they perceive and experience the product. "In most cases, our experience has been that pack designs are more likely to influence the consumer perception of the brand than advertising" (Hofmeyr and Rice, 2000, Commitment–led Marketing, pg 282). For products with low advertising support, packaging takes on an even more significant role as the key vehicle for communicating the brand positioning (Rudh, 2005, pg. 680). 4 Winning at the First and Second Moment of Truth Packaging's dual role is what makes it a truly unique marketing tool. Unlike other forms of communication which tend to be fleeting, packaging plays a crucial role not only at the point of sale, but also after the actual purchase of the product. "The packaging has to provide consumers with the right cues and clues – both at the point of purchase and during usage. The first moment of truth is about obtaining customers attention and communicating the benefits of the offer. The second moment of truth is about providing the tools thecustomer needs to experience the benefits when using the product" (LГ¶fgrun, 2005, Winning at the 1st... pg 113) The Point Of Sale (The 1st Moment Of Truth) The importance of making an impact at the point of sale cannot be underestimated. Over the years, academic pressure, the need for children to perform, competition with other countries, etc., has forced schools to slowly stray away from recess and physical education. The most important factor for the company is how the advertisements will appeal to the customers. Companies use psychologists to help them gauge social trends. Time and culture are very important as well companies need to know what people like, value, or need the most at a certain time. They consider all of these factors when promoting their products, yet they do not consider the quality of said products. Companies have been successful with marketing advertisement because people usually pay too much attention to the advertisements to pick what works best for them, while trying to buy something. The first and second advertisements are about how the corporations use Disney characters and happy kids on food or toys products. Many food and toys, especially geared for children, usually have a kind of contest that goes along with it. If you buy 'this', you have a chance to win 'this' which makes kids want it more. Usually a PlayStation or Xbox is the big prize offered. Many things geared towards the children have a big impact on the child who then makes it a big impact on the parent. Most of the times companies use happy or cute kids to promote yogurt, cereal and toys advertisements, because people like cute kids. Burnham had extraordinary managerial and organizational skills. Burnham and Root together were able to build their firm to be one of the best in Chicago. They continued to do many challenging projects such as the Rookery and the Monadnock. Daniel Burnham handled many difficult times before he made a positive name for himself. Burnham was also very good to all his employees, "He installed a gym. During lunch hour employees played handball. Burnham gave fencing lessons. Root played impromptu recitals on a rented piano," (Larson 2003, 27). In 1885, a fire had destroyed the Grannis Block that was Burnham and Root's flagship structure. In 1888, "a hotel they had designed in Kansas City collapsed during construction, injuring several men and killing one" (Larson 2003, 29). With all the verbal attacks on Burnham's career over both of the incidences, he remained very calm, but he was still very heartbroken.
