The Cold Mountain Massacre Analysis
The Cold Mountain Massacre Nothing moved except the boy's hand, but he was just a boy, he was
not fast enough. Inman caught the boy reaching for his gun. Inman reached for his own Lemats and
reached for the trigger but he was too slow. The bullet ripped through Inman's shoulder, leaving a
gaping hole. Ada and Ruby heard the shots in the far distance and ran towards them. They ran as fast
as their bodies would allow them. – "Inman!", Ada shouted over and over. Ada approached the
clearing and saw the terrible sight of Inman's dead body. Ada approached the lifeless body. Tears
welled up in her eyes of the sight in front of her. It was Inman's lifeless body. They both stood
together in a moment of silence holding each other. – We better get going Ruby whispered in Ada's
ear. The started to walk back hand in hand. They were so deep in thought that they did not hear

crows in the far distance soar up in the air and fly away in the distance. Ada looked up and saw the

Similarities Between O Brother Where Art Thou And The Odyssey
Have you ever come across a movie or book that are strangely similar but in their own ways? The
movie O' Brother Where Art Thou is based on The Odyssey and has many parallels that make it
connected to The Odyssey. For example, the themes, protagonists and antagonists, conflict, and
lyrical elements are some of the things that make these two stories similar. In O' Brother Where Art
Thou and The Odyssey the theme of needing people in your life that you can count on is a constant.
Odysseus has his crew who fought with him and were with him when they were trying to get home.
Everett has Pete and Delmar, and they are all escapees from prison. They all want to find a way to
get home to their families but come across some obstacles along the ... Show more content on

Another Lyrical Element is the Sirens in The Odyssey who have beautiful voices that try to lure
sailors to their deaths. Odysseus made his men plug their ears and tie him to the mast of the ship so
he could listen to the song but not go after it. After Pete, Everett, and Delmar's car was found by the
police, they parted ways with Tommy as they escaped. Next they meet George Babyface Nelson and
accompany him on his escape from the police and afterwards receive a share of the stolen loot. Then
Pete, Everett, and Delmar encounter three beautiful women washing clothes in the river and are
seduced by them. The singing women in O' Brother and the Sirens in The Odyssey are both

The Importance of Women and Weavin In the Greater...
The Importance of Women and Weavin In the Greater Southwest Throughout time, weaving, of both
basketry and cloth, has had a tremendous impact on Southwestern cultures. Robert Graham, author
and Southwest textile expert, has stated, "The most ancient historical and archaeological
investigation demonstrate that textile was a highly developed art by the time writing began, and in
many cultures before writing began" (Graham 23). Where written records are not available,
decorations on structures and pottery show that the production of clothing encompassed a vast part
of practically every Southwestern culture. Weaving has played an important role in the economy, the
interaction between weavers, and the acknowledgment of community gender ... Show more content

"The products include robes, mantles, belts, loin clothes, skirts, shirts, head and foot gear, blankets,
mats, hammocks, cradles, baskets for transportation, storage, cooking, and winnowing, fish and
game traps and nets, and cords or ropes for many uses" (Graham 1). The materials used to make
these products were gathered from animals and vegetables, such as rabbit, dog, bison, human, insect
larvae, cotton, flax, hemp, palm, willow, yucca, and grasses. Sandals were the standard footgear.
They were made of yucca and apocynum until the Pueblo Period and the advent of cotton. These
people were heavily dependent on weaving for almost every aspect of their lives. Without weaving,
they could not shelter themselves with clothing during cold seasons or transport necessities such as
food and water. Before the expansion of weaving, life was extremely demanding and laborious for
Southwestern cultures, as they traveled frequently to any place that offered hope for survival. As
people struggled to prosper, some cultures were able to find locations that could support them for
lengthy periods of time. "The commencement of weaving is symptomatic of a people's becoming
sedentary" (Means 450). Southwestern cultures were becoming able to create established
communities, thereby substantiating trading, networks, and gender roles. Their ability to stay in one
place allowed them to spend less time

Cold Mountain/The Odyssey Comparison
More than twenty–five hundred years ago a renowned epic of Greek mythology was written. This
work, known as The Odyssey, illustrates the journey home made by Odysseus, a Trojan war hero,
who seeks his wife Penelope. Similar in plot, though written only four years ago, Cold Mountain is
a romantic saga which depicts the travels of Inman, a Confederate soldier, at his attempt to reunite
with his love Ada. Homer 's The Odyssey and Charles Frazier 's Cold Mountain tell of the struggles
faced by the man and woman of each novel 's relationship. Although these works are written
thousands of years apart, both incorporate one man 's effort, after fighting war, to return to his love
while encountering several obstacles that hinder and assist his ... Show more content on

Not long after Inman leaves for Cold Mountain, three men by a store attack him. He defeats each of
them and continues his trip, but the men follow him for a while later. Afterwards, Inman comes
upon a man with whom he helps to pull a dead bull out of the water. This man, Junior, feeds him and
is friendly until his wife begins to hit on Inman. When Junior catches them together, he becomes
very angry. Inman is captured by guards and taken on a detour from his trip. During the remainder
of his journey, Inman comes upon several different people. Many of them feed him and give him a
place to sleep for one or more nights. Soon after, Inman meets up with Ada in a cabin on the
mountain and spends some time with her. It is not until the final stretch home that Inman meets
Teague, a horseman in the woods. Teague and his men cause problems for anyone who confronts
them. Inman gets into a brawl with them and kills Teague. He could have easily killed the boy that
was following Teague, but wanted to handle matters more civilly. Because Inman chooses not to
hurt the boy, the boy shoots him, and he is never again to return to Ada.
Though The Odyssey and Cold Mountain are similar in the concept of having one man overcome
obstacles throughout his return home from war, these novels also have distinct differences. In The
Odyssey, Odysseus is wealthy, well–known, and well–liked. He returns home as a war hero after

Cujo Film Analysis
Cujo: Analytic Writing
After watching the film version of Cujo, I noticed that Director Lewis Teague stayed true to the
novel in some ways, but he has also changed some things. One of the things Teague kept the same
was the scene where the dog, Cujo, tried to get into the car through the window and Donna made
efforts to close the window using the crank. Another thing that Teague kept the same was the
appearance of Cujo, and how he was dirty and covered with mud. On the contrary, one of the things
that the director changed was the attire that Donna had worn, in which she wore a skirt and a top,
while in the excerpt it states that Donna is wearing jeans. Furthermore, Director Teague took out the
scene where Tad, Donna's son, is seemingly stuck ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that Teague kept the part where Cujo attempts to get into the car because it is the most
climatic part of this scene. The appearance of Cujo was also kept the same most likely for the effect
of making the dog look even more intimidating. On the other hand, Teague had changed the clothing
of Donna to make her even more vulnerable to the rabid dog as opposed to wearing jeans. The part
where Tad mentions his nightmares and how he was sitting in the back seat instead of the front seat
was changed most likely for convenience, since Teague had already taken out the parts where
Donna first sees the dog and how she hurts herself trying to get away and went straight to the part
where Cujo tries to get into Tad's window. These changes affected how I thought about Tad and
Donna because the change of attire in Donna made me believe that she is a more feminine than
described in the book, and also made me think that Tad was a little more older than I thought since
he did not say anything about his nightmares and did not freak out as much. Teague's changes of
Donna's clothing and the fact that Cujo goes directly to Tad's window first affects the level of
suspense by increasing it because the changes make Donna and her son more vulnerable to the
blood–thirsty dog, making the audience sit on the edge of their seats, waiting to see if the mother
and son make it out

Analysis Of O Brother Where Art Thou
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a Coen brothers film that was based on Homer's epic, "The
Odyssey." The setting of the movie was during the depression era in Mississippi. The movie's tone,
characters, story, and settings reflect how barren and poor the general populous was after the stock
market crash of 1929. This movie had many themes that warrant analysis. The theme of inequality
between the white and black races was prevalent throughout the movie. Inequality and unfairness
within the human race in general was also clearly depicted. This movie thoroughly depicts the
multifaceted themes and issues present during the depression era. The movie was released in 2000
by Touchtone Pictures, Universal Pictures, Studio Canal, and Mike Zoss Productions. ... Show more

The Coen brothers decided to color correct the entire movie by adding Sepia filter. All the settings
looked like they were in a drought or had dying flora. The music in the movie was all in the styles of
old folk, gospel, and blues. Near the beginning of the movie a song called "Big Rock Candy
Mountain" played. This was a satirical folk song about a land where one does not have to work. This
song was popular in the 1930's because it was an escape from the pains of the real world and a
reminder of the happier past. The blues was also big during this time because the public can relate to
the pain and sadness of the song. Gospel music gave hope to the

Freewill Savages: Cold Mountain's Stobrod Thewes
Stobrod's return and his connection with a community of outliers both disrupts the calm continuity
of the women's lives– that a man has entered the safe haven of the women's private world– and
shows the novel's thematic opposition between the natural and man–made worlds. His sudden
appearance at the corn crib reminds Ada and Ruby that not all events may be explained by reference
to the natural world–they had assumed that a small creature had been stealing their corn–but instead
that men can manipulate, change, and sometimes threaten. Although Ruby is wary of helping her
father, Ada's generosity in sharing food with Stobrod shows her new openness of character and
interest in her friend's family.
Ada actually finds it rather odd ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ada is almost jealous of the relationships between Ruby and Stobrod even if it's not a particularly
good relationship. She grows increasingly sentimental towards Stobrod's newfound love for his
daughter, and is quite appalled that Ruby still does not forgive him after all his desperate attempts at
moving her heart with his fiddle music. Ada is quite touched by Stobrod's change of heart, and many
a time she closes her eyes while he plays, and finds tears spilling from her eyes when she emerges
from the spell of his music. She would constantly steal a glance at Ruby who has not been moved at
all by his playing and remains as cold and passive as a rock. Ada, of course, does not blame Ruby
for her behavior towards her father, because of all he's done to her, but despite this, she reminds
Ruby how lucky she is to still have a father. Ada never succeeds, of course, in persuading Ruby to
forgive him.
In the chapter "naught and grief," music appears to provide a measure of harmony if not logic in a
world of insensible changes. Teague and the Home Guard are moved by Stobrod and Pangle's
performance, although they shoot the musicians nonetheless. This brutal act is committed out of fear
and a lack of understanding, and it foreshadows Inman's eventual death.
It isn't until after her daddy is shot and believed

Essay On Disruption In Airline Industry
Disruption in the Airline Industry
Prepared by: Mark Lanz
City University of Seattle, IS–330, winter 2016/2017
Abstract

Disruption in the Airline Industry Conceptual air carrier, Poppi, provides the framework for an
analysis that will be discussed throughout this paper in regards to disruptive technologies and their
effect on the airline industry. Baltzan (2015, p. 231) observes that disruptive technologies are "a new
way of doing things that initially does not meet the needs of existing customer." Shu (2015) offers
the airline industry is continually trying to reinvent itself to attract attention and increase revenue.
However, the stress and headaches experienced by most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Uber and Airbnb, Teague's concept would absolutely offer disruption to the status quo of
air travel (Shu, 2015). The conceptual air carrier is called Poppi and they have analyzed the stress
experienced by travelers and other industry shortcomings to focus on the needs of the passenger
while ignoring established industry practices. Would these radical ideas offered by Poppi create a
wake–up call for the airline industry, and particularly legacy carriers? Professor Taneja explains that
most airlines acknowledge the importance of disruptive innovation, however, their degree of
reaction varies greatly from one carrier to another (Accenture, 2017). He also notes the industry is
divided in their reaction to disruption with some continuing business as usual and others completely
overhauling how they do business altogether. Strategies for transformation in dealing with each
carrier's workforce, processes, and legacy systems requires the right mindset and leveraging
emerging technologies. Poppi attempts to addresses these issues while focusing on what bothers air
travelers most and changing the mindsets of major carriers to envision the future of air travel.
Wilson (2015) reports Devin Liddell, Teague's principle brand strategist, would eliminate carry–on
luggage and reduce the size of overhead bins to only accommodate personal items such as computer
bags and jackets. Teague conducted boarding simulations

Teague had many offers such as Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee. With these options all being

the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. There Marsalis did many great things. After joining
Tennessee, Marsalis became well known in Knoxville with its thousand and thousands of

The Theme Of Love In Matthew Teague's The Friend
The importance of cherishing the invaluable individuals in one's life is apparent in Matthew
Teague's personal journey of his wife's battle against cancer and a genuine friendship. "The Friend"
depicts emotional appeal, comparisons, and vivid imagery to portray the significance of valuing
loved ones. There is no single definition for a loved one. A spouse, children, family, friends, the
reciprocated love can build everlasting bonds, but why is it so important to treasure the relationships
we have? Just because they are family, it may not signify that we love them; just because they are
acquaintances, it does not necessarily indicate that we have a type of love for them either. The pure
love we possess for someone is rare and never chosen or obliged, so this valuable love should be
nurtured, for people are bound within unpredictable time limits. Nichole's, Teague's wife's, diagnosis
of cancer was a realization for him that his days with her were numbered. Along the way, Dane
Faucheux, the couple's friend, was devoted to aiding the Teague family during their struggling time.
Faucheux's undisputed support for Teague and his family surprised him numerous times throughout
their experience. This love in the sublime story is seeped with appreciation for those Teague values
in his life. The realization and worth of his deep endearment for his family and friend is transferred
to the reader, and he or she begins to realize the reality of the given time to value those who are
most important. Because love is universally perceived, everyone can relate to the author. The reader
experiences a great deal of empathy and slight distress when Nicole, as well as Teague, goes
through the experience and effects of her cancer. "Love wasn't something I felt anymore," Teague
expresses, "It was something I did," (281). This statement authenticates that he had the truest love
for her. He validates this even more so by comforting and providing for Nicole through selfless
actions during her sickness whereas others would have given up if the relationship did not attribute
to real love. He proved his romantic love, a once inner feeling, through deeds that were physical and
clearly apparent. A similar, yet different love, was further

Synopsis Of ' Tales '
Prologue Originally there were four dragons. They were born from the Mothe22wr Dragon, Mai
'eth. The eldest of the four was Rukgar, dragon of the forest and nature. Second after him was
Narchand, the dragon of fire and shadow. Third eldest was Strumgar, dragon of thunder and air.
Jutara was the youngest, dragon of ice and light. All dragons had a bipedal form of which they
called man, but they favored their dragon form more. Jutara was the only female of the brood, and
two her brothers, since Rukgar had sworn a life of solitude to stay more intact with nature, fought
over her mercilessly. Free many fights, the two dragons had torn the land and dried up the seas.
Because she wanted the fighting to stop, she chose Narchand as her suitor, and Strumgar went into a
rage. He attacked Narchand and attempted to kill him. Jutara rushed to protect her mate, but was
thrown back by a bolt of lightning. "You will not harm those I love. Especially not her." Narchand
bellowed as he erupted into flames. He released his strongest attack and blasted away Strumgar.
Strumgar was banished to the starry heaven which bordered the land like a moat. To empty space,
still plotting his revenge. Narchand and Jutara eventually created a new race of beings created in
their image. Half dragon, half bipedal. Narchand gave them the ability to access their dragon form
through an object that they stored part of their soul in. Jutara gave them the ability to use some

The Death Of The Winter Formal
It was late on a Friday night, just an hour before nine, which would mark the start of Northride
High's Winter Formal. While most students and chaperones were already arriving early, very few
still lingered at home; and only one hadn't wanted to go at all.
"Teague, honey? Are you sure you don't want to go? I'm certain all your friends will be there too,
and they'd be very disappointed if you didn't join them." An anxious mother stood at the base of the
stairs, calling up to her sixteen year old son on the upper floor. Her husband brushed past her with a
photo frame, moving to hang it up while saying,
"There's no point in bothering him, Samantha, you know he's not going to do something he doesn't

He closes his eyes, a soft smile curving his lips; as if he were experiencing a pleasant sort of feeling,
personal to only himself. He didn't want to go to the Winter Formal simply because he was a busy
person who had complicated plans. They were loosely thought out ideas, so Teague thought them
more as sketches really; because, as he has read so often, even the most thoroughly formed and built
plans often went awry. So, he would try to compromise with what he had already. He was overjoyed
that his parents wouldn't be home for four hours at most, giving him plenty of time to sneak out of
the house unnoticed and into the backcountry woods around their small town. He knew basically
everyone would be at this stupid dance of his school's, so he wasn't too concerned about any
obstacles.
He sat up and scootched to the edge of his bed, sighing deeply as he considered the course of actions
to come. To say the very least, he was excited, though nervous at the same time. It was a very
unpleasant mixture of feelings that didn't boil over well in his stomach, but he supposed he had to
suck it up and muster what he'd been praying to do since the end of Summer, when school had
started. Getting up now, he maneuvered to his closet and pulled out his jacket, putting it on when
suddenly he had caught a folder of papers in his peripheral vision.
"Ah! I can't forget this," says Teague, taking the folder in his left hand while he searched around for
his bag with his right. Obviously he

Bird received a ton of criticism for the move since McMillian didn't seem to fit that plan at all. In
fact, when McMillian coached the Seattle SuperSonics (2000–2005) and the Portland TrailBlazers

the Union soldiers are planning an attack. It cuts to the first time Ada and Inman officially met,

hurts the team really bad when he can't get open shots, and it's almost like having four players out

Instead of developing new components they reengineer old parts from cars they built in the past.
Although the AMC Pacer didn't live up to what it could've been it received accolades for trying. In

Bell Microproducts Inc.
284 F.3d 86 (Massachusetts)
ISSUE OF THE CASE
Bell Microproducts, Inc. mailed to McGurn an offer of employment that stated that if McGurn were
terminated without cause during the first 12 months of employment, he would receive a severance
package of $120,000. McGurn crossed out 12 and replaced it with 24, and signed the contract. Bell
did not acknowledge the change that had been made to the contract and hired the applicant. McGurn
was terminated without cause 13 months later.

gross misconduct, upon termination you will receive a six–month severance package." In response,
McGurn drafted his own proposed offer letter, dated July 2, 1997, which included a paragraph on
termination "for cause," defined as conviction of a felony or gross negligence or misconduct on the
job, and a paragraph on termination "without cause," which was open–ended: "The Company may
terminate your employment without cause. In such event, you will continue to receive your base
salary for a period of six months following your termination of employment, and you will receive an
additional lump–sum amount equal to $40,000 or 50% of annual incentive." McGurn faxed his
proposed offer letter to Murphy. McGurn's next contact with Bell was his receipt of an offer letter
dated July 3, 1997, signed by Teague. The letter included the following paragraph on termination
without cause: The Company may terminate your employment without cause. In the event that this

Argumentative Essay On Legalizing Marijuana
Marijuana usage has always been a controversial topic in history. Since it was discovered, it has
been used as a recreational drug by many. But growing up, we were taught that it brings nothing but
harm and trouble to anyone that uses it. However, marijuana isn't as bad as we were all taught that it
was. Based on proven research, legalizing marijuana would have a positive impact on society.
Marijuana can be used as a treatment for certain medical conditions. One disease that it can help
treat or prevent is glaucoma. Glaucoma starts when pressure in the eyeball increases, damaging the
optic nerve and causing vision loss. According to researchers, marijuana can reduce the pressure in
the eye. Marijuana can also help control epilepsy (Berke). Marijuana contains a chemical that many
people know as tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. It can help control seizures that are not responsive to
other treatments (Berke). Another disease that marijuana has been proven to treat is cancer. A
chemical in marijuana known as Cannabidiol, or CBD, is believed to stop the spread of cancer by
turning off a gene that helps produce cancer cells (Berke). Some studies even show that some
aspects in marijuana could even kill cancer producing cell. There have been studies done where
people with cancer have consumed marijuana and the results have shown that the size of their tumor
was reduced (Berke).
Making marijuana legal could have many economic benefits.

Essay On The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Week Three Essay: The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire On March twenty–fifth, in the year
nineteen–hundred and eleven, over one–hundred and forty workers lost their lives in the deadliest
factory fire in American history, when a fire destroyed the Asch Building which housed the Triangle

This commission helped usher in much needed changes on the labor side, which after a few years
developed into the New York State Department of Labor (aflcio.org, 2017). The fire also helped fire
departments not only in New York City, but all over the Nation at that time, make changes to how
they operate. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which was founded in eighteen
ninety–six, declared at its annual meeting right after the fire, to all departments nation–wide, how
important fire–drills were to life safety (Teague & Farr, 2009). A few years later the NFPA formed
the Committee on Safety to Life to help with fire codes, regulations and departments. Several years
after its development, they adopted revised specifications to fire escapes, and worked on specific
regulations to exits to buildings and the Building Exit Codes (Teague & Farr, 2009). All of their
work helped bring items like fire drills, egress from buildings, sprinklers, fire escapes, and other
building code changes. Fire Departments all over the Nation were also helped and their eagerness to

Sleep Analysis Essay On Sleep
Sleep Analysis As we learned in lecture, sleep is an important component in improving a person's
overall health. Because sleep is vital for cognitive function and available time to spend sleeping is
limited for college students, like myself, it is advantageous to change sleeping behaviors to
maximize the benefits sleep can provide. After tracking my sleeping schedule for a week, I have
noticed some patterns and behavior that may be affecting the quality of sleep I am getting. Based on
my sleep journal, I could improve my sleep by cutting back on the amount of caffeine I intake and
the time spent on electronics before bed to try to reduce the amount of time needed for me to fall
asleep. I tracked my sleep for one week early on in the semester when I was less busy and able to
get more sleep, however the overall patterns in how I felt when waking up and trouble falling asleep
have remained mostly the same. In this particular week, I got an average of about nine hours of
sleep per weeknight. The recommended amount of sleep per night is between eight to nine hours
(Teague 77). I would say I need at least eight full hours of sleep a night to feel like I am well rested.
I did not occur a sleep debt during this week, however I have experienced weeks were I did
accumulate a sleep debt. When this occurs, I usually try to make up for it by sleeping in on the
weekends rather than napping. I have found that taking naps isn't an effective way for me to reduce
my sleep debt because I

Rowan-Johnson Hall: Theatre Analysis
Though theatre has been performed on UA's campus in various forms, by various students and at
various times for the past 125 years, theatre and dance became an academic entity only in the late
1930s.
It is thanks to prominent names like Marian Gallaway and Allen Bales–namesakes of two of the
theatres on UA's campus–that the department was birthed "as we know it today," Teague said. "They
were so nationally prominent that we have always been able to attract good faculty and good
students," he added.
However, that didn't necessarily mean the accompanying facilities were built as planned.
The current home of the department, Rowan–Johnson Hall was actually left "with a literal hole in

a boon for growth as well, Teague said.
"We actually have grown a little fast the the overall University, but we have certainly benefitted

department's potential. "Our faculty only grows as our students grow."

Developmental Stagnancy
As a culture, we have developed many ways to improve in countless disciplines. Starting with an
innate ability, training, and vicarious learning greatly improve one's skills. However, there has been
a rise of nothingness, a spike of inactivity. This stagnancy is common within the current adolescents
and early adults, and its causes and effects are of great importance to its necessary removal. The first
and most prominent cause for developmental stagnancy is depression. Depression acts as a damper
on self–esteem and can create the belief that one is unable to improve in anything and is insufficient
at their current level of expertise. Though logical and provable evidence can be provided to prove
that such is not the case, depression causes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After realizing his problem, Josephson managed to break away from his stagnancy by moving
houses and completely resetting his routine, making himself a blank slate (Josephson 1–4).
Josephson's story shows that a change of environment can help a person suffering from stagnancy
break away from it. In the case of teenagers, it may be beneficial to transfer schools, or more simply
change where they spend more of their time. However, Josephson's refusal of more easily–adaptable
opportunities exemplifies the mindset one can fall into; the routine is more important than variety. If
one can overcome this mental barrier, then it will become all the easier to remove stagnancy from
their life. Stagnancy is a dangerous and deceptive habit that can easily be formed, but its causes and
effects can be avoided or escaped with the correct tactics. A person shackled by stagnancy may find
themselves unsatisfied with their accomplishments, despite the truth. Allowing life to direct Teague
3 people rather than adhering life to a schedule will make it easier to avoid stagnancy as a whole
(Josephson 3). As George Bernard Shaw so aptly put, "Those who cannot change their minds cannot

Social Indicators The social indicators can be used to identify stratification and inequalities within a
social structure. Stratification is the ranking of groups using a systematic hierarchical system
(Durkin & Carrothers, 2015). Stratification is the preference of a certain group with privileges to
greater opportunities on success than others. The preference and privileges form inequalities within
the social structure. Social inequality is the unequal distribution of power that often results in
conditions of differing wealth, prestige, and status (Durkin & Carrothers, 2015). The relationship
between stratification and inequalities can be evaluated by social indicators. Social indicators are

Cardiovascular Disease: What Causes Coronary Heart Disease
The term "cardiovascular disease" is often used reciprocally with the term "heart disease."
Cardiovascular disease broadly refers to the disease involving the heart and blood vessels. It
generally includes diseases such as, heart attack, stroke, congestive heart failure and many others.
Indeed, CVD affects the heart and it's main functions such as the cardiovascular system, the
pulmonary circulation and the systematic circulation. The pulmonary circulation's main function is
to pump oxygen–poor blood towards the lungs and pumps oxygen–rich blood to the right side of the
heart. Whereas the systematic circulation is the opposite, it pumps oxygen–rich blood to the body

Persuasive Essay On Drugs
It is a right minded idea to think that strict laws against possession and use of controlled substances
would deter people from using drugs and make for safer communities. The average civilian would
probably think cops are cleaning up the streets when they see someone in handcuffs for owning or
using any type of illegal substance. But the only reason that person is considered a criminal is
because of our laws, we don't know that they're dangerous. Why do they deserve to be arrested and
charged? Morally, they could be someone who wouldn't hurt a fly, but since they have an illegal
substance they are quickly judged and hauled away. There are pitfalls that come with these laws that
aren't obvious to the general public, and there are benefits that could come with tossing out our
current consequences. Legalizing possession and use of controlled substances could make for a
reduction of our current drug epidemic, solve issues with overcrowded prisons, and help drug
addicts to receive treatment. Current laws that criminalize possession and use of controlled
substances have proven to be ineffective when it comes to eliminating the drug epidemic. Our laws
do not prevent citizens from getting their hands on controlled substances; they only hand out
consequences when a person is found in possession or while using said substance. An immense
amount of time and money has been dumped into the U.S war on drugs and antidrug campaigns for
decades in an attempt to significantly reduce the supply and demand of common controlled
substances. However the attempts have backfired to an extent, Pierre–Arnaud Chouvy, a specialist
in drug research internationally affirms that "prohibition has created the world's most lucrative illicit
market for some psychoactive substances and encouraged their production" (Chouvy, 2012). So it is
safe to say that our war on drugs has not only been ineffective, but has actually pushed for a busy
black market. How? People are not afraid to do some dirty work and take risks for the profit that
comes from drug trafficking. Not to mention with the increase of business came an increase of
violence in the drug trade. In an article displaying the history of our war on drugs, Aileen Teague
discloses that

Comparing Cujo By Stephen King And Lewis Teague
There are many similarities and differences between Stephen King's, Cujo, and Lewis Teague 1983
version of the thriller. Cujo, is a thriller story centered around a mother and son stranded on an
isolated street with no one around, other than Cujo the rabid dog after them. Teague made some
edits to the original film. However, he stayed true to the original thriller in most ways. Some aspects
of the original story Teague kept the same was the setting, Tads age, and the descriptions of the plot
and characters. Yet, there were still some details that were changed in the film to help with the
overall perception of the characters and its amount of suspense. A few of these changes that were
shown in the film was the fact that Donna was pictured inside ... Show more content on

Additionally, Teague applied these alterations to his film to increase the level of suspense in his
version. A difference between the short story and the film was Donna was outside the car when Cujo
came during the movie, while in the film, Donna and her son were already inside the car. The text
states, "She reached the front of the hood and started to cross in front of the Pinto..." Since Donna
was outside the safety of her car in the story but not the movie, it decreased the amount of suspense
in the film because Teague does not reveal what's about to happen next. At any moment anything
could happen to Donna outside the car, but when pictured inside the car it relieves a bit of tension
and lowers the suspense. While outside the safety of her car in the movie, it helped feel what Donna
was going through in the story. However, because the film doesn't have Donna start off outside the
car, it cannot provide important examples of the actions Donna did because she was so scared. For
example, as explained in the text, Donna wets herself because she was face to face with Cujo and
got so frightened. This helps develop Donas character because it shows that she fears the dog.
Another difference between the story and the film was when Cujo came after Tad instead of Donna
in the film. Cujo came after Donna in the story because he was chasing

After analyzing my sleep for the past week, I've learned that on the average weekday I'm getting
around 9 hours of sleep. While on the weekend I get an average of 8 ¼ hours of sleep. Even though
I am getting the recommended amount of sleep of around 8 to 9 hours, I notice that I get more sleep
during the summer compared to the school year. I conclude this is due to the different environment
between the summer months and the school year. Thus, the major difference/factor between the
school year and sleep is the amount of time and the amount of stress. Though I am taking summer
classes and working a part time job, I still have more time compared to the school year. This extra
amount of time gives me plenty of time to complete class work, and enjoy some free time. However,
during the school year my class schedule, outside class work, and part–time job take up the majority

the stress of the tasks may keep me up at night thinking about what needs to get done the following

The Pros And Cons Of Trade Secrets
Trade secrets bill with controversial civil seizure provision passes Senate
By Teague I. Donahey, Holland & Hart LLP
Recently, Congress and the courts in the United States have been active in reining in what many
have seen as patent system that has run amuck. In the process, they have placed a number of limits
on patent holders' ability to effectively and successfully enforce patents. But as opportunities to
enforce intellectual property through patent suits have been narrowed, another IP door appears to be
opening.
For several years, Congress has been working on legislation that would, in effect, federalize what
until now has been a state–by–state system of trade secret law. The current version, the Defend

For example, in the United Kingdom, so–called "Anton Piller" orders have been utilized for many
years to secure documents and things on an ex parte basis, in exceptional circumstances.
Significant Controversy
Nevertheless, the prospect of ex parte seizures in the trade secrets context has generated significant
controversy in the United States. One major source of concern is the fact–intensive nature and
overall complexity of trade secrets disputes. What exactly is the information at issue and does it
qualify as a trade secret? How, if at all, has it been maintained in secrecy? Does the target of the
seizure really have the information in his or her possession, and if so, how was the information
obtained? Was reverse engineering involved? And so on.
Even on a preliminary basis, the complex factual issues involved in trade secret disputes may not
lend themselves to fair resolution through expedited and non–adversarial ex parte procedures.

seizure proceedings might be used for improper

suspense. In the novel, Donna's son Tad, was not able to unlatch his seatbelt. This was also pictured
in the 1983 film. Cujo is a vicious Saint Bernard dog that made everyone fear for their lives and
jump out of their seats in the movie as well as the book. Although Lewis possessed the required
basic story line and details, he took some liberties of his own.

The Cold Mountain Massacre Analysis

  • 1. The Cold Mountain Massacre Analysis The Cold Mountain Massacre Nothing moved except the boy's hand, but he was just a boy, he was not fast enough. Inman caught the boy reaching for his gun. Inman reached for his own Lemats and reached for the trigger but he was too slow. The bullet ripped through Inman's shoulder, leaving a gaping hole. Ada and Ruby heard the shots in the far distance and ran towards them. They ran as fast as their bodies would allow them. – "Inman!", Ada shouted over and over. Ada approached the clearing and saw the terrible sight of Inman's dead body. Ada approached the lifeless body. Tears welled up in her eyes of the sight in front of her. It was Inman's lifeless body. They both stood together in a moment of silence holding each other. – We better get going Ruby whispered in Ada's ear. The started to walk back hand in hand. Ada looked up and saw the chimney of the house in the distance. – We really close to home, Ada said. They finally arrived home as a group they were greeted by the Georgia Boy who was preparing a meal for himself. • 2. Similarities Between O Brother Where Art Thou And The Odyssey Have you ever come across a movie or book that are strangely similar but in their own ways? The movie O' Brother Where Art Thou is based on The Odyssey and has many parallels that make it connected to The Odyssey. For example, the themes, protagonists and antagonists, conflict, and lyrical elements are some of the things that make these two stories similar. In O' Brother Where Art Thou and The Odyssey the theme of needing people in your life that you can count on is a constant. Odysseus has his crew who fought with him and were with him when they were trying to get home. Everett has Pete and Delmar, and they are all escapees from prison. They all want to find a way to get home to their families but come across some obstacles along the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another Lyrical Element is the Sirens in The Odyssey who have beautiful voices that try to lure sailors to their deaths. Odysseus made his men plug their ears and tie him to the mast of the ship so he could listen to the song but not go after it. After Pete, Everett, and Delmar's car was found by the police, they parted ways with Tommy as they escaped. Next they meet George Babyface Nelson and accompany him on his escape from the police and afterwards receive a share of the stolen loot. • 3. The Importance of Women and Weavin In the Greater... The Importance of Women and Weavin In the Greater Southwest Throughout time, weaving, of both basketry and cloth, has had a tremendous impact on Southwestern cultures. Robert Graham, author and Southwest textile expert, has stated, "The most ancient historical and archaeological investigation demonstrate that textile was a highly developed art by the time writing began, and in many cultures before writing began" (Graham 23). Where written records are not available, decorations on structures and pottery show that the production of clothing encompassed a vast part of practically every Southwestern culture. Weaving has played an important role in the economy, the interaction between weavers, and the acknowledgment of community gender ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "The products include robes, mantles, belts, loin clothes, skirts, shirts, head and foot gear, blankets, mats, hammocks, cradles, baskets for transportation, storage, cooking, and winnowing, fish and game traps and nets, and cords or ropes for many uses" (Graham 1). The materials used to make these products were gathered from animals and vegetables, such as rabbit, dog, bison, human, insect larvae, cotton, flax, hemp, palm, willow, yucca, and grasses. Sandals were the standard footgear. They were made of yucca and apocynum until the Pueblo Period and the advent of cotton. These people were heavily dependent on weaving for almost every aspect of their lives. Without weaving, they could not shelter themselves with clothing during cold seasons or transport necessities such as food and water. Before the expansion of weaving, life was extremely demanding and laborious for Southwestern cultures, as they traveled frequently to any place that offered hope for survival. As people struggled to prosper, some cultures were able to find locations that could support them for lengthy periods of time. "The commencement of weaving is symptomatic of a people's becoming sedentary" (Means 450). Southwestern cultures were becoming able to create established communities, thereby substantiating trading, networks, and gender roles. Their ability to stay in one place allowed them to spend less time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cold Mountain/The Odyssey Comparison More than twenty–five hundred years ago a renowned epic of Greek mythology was written. This work, known as The Odyssey, illustrates the journey home made by Odysseus, a Trojan war hero, who seeks his wife Penelope. Similar in plot, though written only four years ago, Cold Mountain is a romantic saga which depicts the travels of Inman, a Confederate soldier, at his attempt to reunite with his love Ada. Homer 's The Odyssey and Charles Frazier 's Cold Mountain tell of the struggles faced by the man and woman of each novel 's relationship. Although these works are written thousands of years apart, both incorporate one man 's effort, after fighting war, to return to his love while encountering several obstacles that hinder and assist his ... He defeats each of them and continues his trip, but the men follow him for a while later. Afterwards, Inman comes upon a man with whom he helps to pull a dead bull out of the water. This man, Junior, feeds him and is friendly until his wife begins to hit on Inman. When Junior catches them together, he becomes very angry. Inman is captured by guards and taken on a detour from his trip. During the remainder of his journey, Inman comes upon several different people. Many of them feed him and give him a place to sleep for one or more nights. Soon after, Inman meets up with Ada in a cabin on the mountain and spends some time with her. It is not until the final stretch home that Inman meets Teague, a horseman in the woods. Teague and his men cause problems for anyone who confronts them. Inman gets into a brawl with them and kills Teague. He could have easily killed the boy that was following Teague, but wanted to handle matters more civilly. Because Inman chooses not to hurt the boy, the boy shoots him, and he is never again to return to Ada. Though The Odyssey and Cold Mountain are similar in the concept of having one man overcome obstacles throughout his return home from war, these novels also have distinct differences. In The Odyssey, Odysseus is wealthy, well–known, and well–liked. He returns home as a war hero after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Cujo Film Analysis Cujo: Analytic Writing After watching the film version of Cujo, I noticed that Director Lewis Teague stayed true to the novel in some ways, but he has also changed some things. One of the things Teague kept the same was the scene where the dog, Cujo, tried to get into the car through the window and Donna made efforts to close the window using the crank. Another thing that Teague kept the same was the appearance of Cujo, and how he was dirty and covered with mud. On the contrary, one of the things that the director changed was the attire that Donna had worn, in which she wore a skirt and a top, while in the excerpt it states that Donna is wearing jeans. Furthermore, Director Teague took out the scene where Tad, Donna's son, is seemingly stuck ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that Teague kept the part where Cujo attempts to get into the car because it is the most climatic part of this scene. The appearance of Cujo was also kept the same most likely for the effect of making the dog look even more intimidating. On the other hand, Teague had changed the clothing of Donna to make her even more vulnerable to the rabid dog as opposed to wearing jeans. The part where Tad mentions his nightmares and how he was sitting in the back seat instead of the front seat was changed most likely for convenience, since Teague had already taken out the parts where Donna first sees the dog and how she hurts herself trying to get away and went straight to the part where Cujo tries to get into Tad's window. These changes affected how I thought about Tad and Donna because the change of attire in Donna made me believe that she is a more feminine than described in the book, and also made me think that Tad was a little more older than I thought since he did not say anything about his nightmares and did not freak out as much. Teague's changes of Donna's clothing and the fact that Cujo goes directly to Tad's window first affects the level of suspense by increasing it because the changes make Donna and her son more vulnerable to the blood–thirsty dog, making the audience sit on the edge of their seats, waiting to see if the mother and son make it out ... • 6. Analysis Of O Brother Where Art Thou O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a Coen brothers film that was based on Homer's epic, "The Odyssey." The setting of the movie was during the depression era in Mississippi. The movie's tone, characters, story, and settings reflect how barren and poor the general populous was after the stock market crash of 1929. This movie had many themes that warrant analysis. The theme of inequality between the white and black races was prevalent throughout the movie. Inequality and unfairness within the human race in general was also clearly depicted. This movie thoroughly depicts the multifaceted themes and issues present during the depression era. The movie was released in 2000 by Touchtone Pictures, Universal Pictures, Studio Canal, and Mike Zoss Productions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was a satirical folk song about a land where one does not have to work. This song was popular in the 1930's because it was an escape from the pains of the real world and a reminder of the happier past. • 7. Freewill Savages: Cold Mountain's Stobrod Thewes Stobrod's return and his connection with a community of outliers both disrupts the calm continuity of the women's lives– that a man has entered the safe haven of the women's private world– and shows the novel's thematic opposition between the natural and man–made worlds. His sudden appearance at the corn crib reminds Ada and Ruby that not all events may be explained by reference to the natural world–they had assumed that a small creature had been stealing their corn–but instead that men can manipulate, change, and sometimes threaten. Although Ruby is wary of helping her father, Ada's generosity in sharing food with Stobrod shows her new openness of character and interest in her friend's family. Ada actually finds it rather odd ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ada is almost jealous of the relationships between Ruby and Stobrod even if it's not a particularly good relationship. She grows increasingly sentimental towards Stobrod's newfound love for his daughter, and is quite appalled that Ruby still does not forgive him after all his desperate attempts at moving her heart with his fiddle music. Ada is quite touched by Stobrod's change of heart, and many a time she closes her eyes while he plays, and finds tears spilling from her eyes when she emerges from the spell of his music. She would constantly steal a glance at Ruby who has not been moved at all by his playing and remains as cold and passive as a rock. Ada, of course, does not blame Ruby for her behavior towards her father, because of all he's done to her, but despite this, she reminds Ruby how lucky she is to still have a father. Ada never succeeds, of course, in persuading Ruby to forgive him. In the chapter "naught and grief," music appears to provide a measure of harmony if not logic in a world of insensible changes. Teague and the Home Guard are moved by Stobrod and Pangle's performance, although they shoot the musicians nonetheless. This brutal act is committed out of fear and a lack of understanding, and it foreshadows Inman's eventual death. It isn't until after her daddy is shot and believed ... Baltzan (2015, p. 231) observes that disruptive technologies are "a new way of doing things that initially does not meet the needs of existing customer." Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to Uber and Airbnb, Teague's concept would absolutely offer disruption to the status quo of air travel (Shu, 2015). The conceptual air carrier is called Poppi and they have analyzed the stress experienced by travelers and other industry shortcomings to focus on the needs of the passenger while ignoring established industry practices. Would these radical ideas offered by Poppi create a wake–up call for the airline industry, and particularly legacy carriers? Professor Taneja explains that most airlines acknowledge the importance of disruptive innovation, however, their degree of reaction varies greatly from one carrier to another (Accenture, 2017). He also notes the industry is divided in their reaction to disruption with some continuing business as usual and others completely overhauling how they do business altogether. Strategies for transformation in dealing with each carrier's workforce, processes, and legacy systems requires the right mindset and leveraging emerging technologies. Poppi attempts to addresses these issues while focusing on what bothers air travelers most and changing the mindsets of major carriers to envision the future of air travel. Wilson (2015) reports Devin Liddell, Teague's principle brand strategist, would eliminate carry–on luggage and reduce the size of overhead bins to only accommodate personal items such as computer bags and jackets. • 12. The Theme Of Love In Matthew Teague's The Friend The importance of cherishing the invaluable individuals in one's life is apparent in Matthew Teague's personal journey of his wife's battle against cancer and a genuine friendship. "The Friend" depicts emotional appeal, comparisons, and vivid imagery to portray the significance of valuing loved ones. There is no single definition for a loved one. A spouse, children, family, friends, the reciprocated love can build everlasting bonds, but why is it so important to treasure the relationships we have? Just because they are family, it may not signify that we love them; just because they are acquaintances, it does not necessarily indicate that we have a type of love for them either. The pure love we possess for someone is rare and never chosen or obliged, so this valuable love should be nurtured, for people are bound within unpredictable time limits. Nichole's, Teague's wife's, diagnosis of cancer was a realization for him that his days with her were numbered. Along the way, Dane Faucheux, the couple's friend, was devoted to aiding the Teague family during their struggling time. Faucheux's undisputed support for Teague and his family surprised him numerous times throughout their experience. This love in the sublime story is seeped with appreciation for those Teague values in his life. The realization and worth of his deep endearment for his family and friend is transferred to the reader, and he or she begins to realize the reality of the given time to value those who are most important. Because love is universally perceived, everyone can relate to the author. The reader experiences a great deal of empathy and slight distress when Nicole, as well as Teague, goes through the experience and effects of her cancer. "Love wasn't something I felt anymore," Teague expresses, "It was something I did," (281). This statement authenticates that he had the truest love for her. He validates this even more so by comforting and providing for Nicole through selfless actions during her sickness whereas others would have given up if the relationship did not attribute to real love. He proved his romantic love, a once inner feeling, through deeds that were physical and clearly apparent. A similar, yet different love, was further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Second after him was Narchand, the dragon of fire and shadow. Third eldest was Strumgar, dragon of thunder and air. Jutara was the youngest, dragon of ice and light. All dragons had a bipedal form of which they called man, but they favored their dragon form more. Jutara was the only female of the brood, and two her brothers, since Rukgar had sworn a life of solitude to stay more intact with nature, fought over her mercilessly. Free many fights, the two dragons had torn the land and dried up the seas. Because she wanted the fighting to stop, she chose Narchand as her suitor, and Strumgar went into a rage. He attacked Narchand and attempted to kill him. Jutara rushed to protect her mate, but was thrown back by a bolt of lightning. "You will not harm those I love. Especially not her." Narchand bellowed as he erupted into flames. He released his strongest attack and blasted away Strumgar. Strumgar was banished to the starry heaven which bordered the land like a moat. To empty space, still plotting his revenge. Narchand and Jutara eventually created a new race of beings created in their image. Half dragon, half bipedal. An anxious mother stood at the base of the stairs, calling up to her sixteen year old son on the upper floor. So, he would try to compromise with what he had already. He was overjoyed that his parents wouldn't be home for four hours at most, giving him plenty of time to sneak out of the house unnoticed and into the backcountry woods around their small town. He knew basically everyone would be at this stupid dance of his school's, so he wasn't too concerned about any obstacles. He sat up and scootched to the edge of his bed, sighing deeply as he considered the course of actions to come. To say the very least, he was excited, though nervous at the same time. It was a very unpleasant mixture of feelings that didn't boil over well in his stomach, but he supposed he had to suck it up and muster what he'd been praying to do since the end of Summer, when school had started. Getting up now, he maneuvered to his closet and pulled out his jacket, putting it on when suddenly he had caught a folder of papers in his peripheral vision. "Ah! I can't forget this," says Teague, taking the folder in his left hand while he searched around for his bag with his right. Obviously he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On May 5th, team president Larry Bird decided not to retain former head coach Frank Vogel. His new vision for the Pacers is to push the tempo and create more opportunities at the three–point line. Bird received a ton of criticism for the move since McMillian didn't seem to fit that plan at all. In fact, when McMillian coached the Seattle SuperSonics (2000–2005) and the Portland TrailBlazers (2005–2012), he ran the complete opposite style of basketball. We've seen it year in and year out. You could actually have a health related issue which can affect yourself and your loved ones in many different ways. Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, Parkinson's disease, chronic kidney disease, shingles, metastatic melanoma cancer are a few health issues that run in my family. Many of these issues are found on both my mom and dads' side of the family meaning I could eventually end up with having some of them. Could coach Bud have been foreshadowing on whats to come for Korver? It's simple Korver hurts the team really bad when he can't get open shots, and it's almost like having four players out on the court when Korver is off or getting shutdown. The line up change helped Korver greatly, and we have likely seen the last days of Korver starting here in Atlanta. But growing up, we were taught that it brings nothing but harm and trouble to anyone that uses it. However, marijuana isn't as bad as we were all taught that it was. Based on proven research, legalizing marijuana would have a positive impact on society. Marijuana can be used as a treatment for certain medical conditions. After tracking my sleeping schedule for a week, I have noticed some patterns and behavior that may be affecting the quality of sleep I am getting. • 32. Persuasive Essay On Drugs It is a right minded idea to think that strict laws against possession and use of controlled substances would deter people from using drugs and make for safer communities. The average civilian would probably think cops are cleaning up the streets when they see someone in handcuffs for owning or using any type of illegal substance. But the only reason that person is considered a criminal is because of our laws, we don't know that they're dangerous. Why do they deserve to be arrested and charged? Morally, they could be someone who wouldn't hurt a fly, but since they have an illegal substance they are quickly judged and hauled away. There are pitfalls that come with these laws that aren't obvious to the general public, and there are benefits that could come with tossing out our current consequences. Legalizing possession and use of controlled substances could make for a reduction of our current drug epidemic, solve issues with overcrowded prisons, and help drug addicts to receive treatment. Current laws that criminalize possession and use of controlled substances have proven to be ineffective when it comes to eliminating the drug epidemic. Our laws do not prevent citizens from getting their hands on controlled substances; they only hand out consequences when a person is found in possession or while using said substance. An immense amount of time and money has been dumped into the U.S war on drugs and antidrug campaigns for decades in an attempt to significantly reduce the supply and demand of common controlled substances. However the attempts have backfired to an extent, Pierre–Arnaud Chouvy, a specialist in drug research internationally affirms that "prohibition has created the world's most lucrative illicit market for some psychoactive substances and encouraged their production" (Chouvy, 2012). So it is safe to say that our war on drugs has not only been ineffective, but has actually pushed for a busy black market. How? The text states, "She reached the front of the hood and started to cross in front of the Pinto..." Since Donna was outside the safety of her car in the story but not the movie, it decreased the amount of suspense in the film because Teague does not reveal what's about to happen next. At any moment anything could happen to Donna outside the car, but when pictured inside the car it relieves a bit of tension and lowers the suspense. While outside the safety of her car in the movie, it helped feel what Donna was going through in the story. For example, as explained in the text, Donna wets herself because she was face to face with Cujo and got so frightened. This helps develop Donas character because it shows that she fears the dog. Another difference between the story and the film was when Cujo came after Tad instead of Donna in the film. Cujo came after Donna in the story because he was chasing ... Household Design of the 1950's "American corporate designers were learned in Modernist theory, but nevertheless found bulbous aerodynamic bodyshells an appropriately slick garb for wares of a vigorous, efficient society with an aggressive faith in its future. Flashy exaggeration at the hands of the stylists, ever compelled to 'improve' on last year's model, gave streamlining a bad name." The consumer society of the 1950s was presented with machines such as fruit juicers, coffee makers, vacuum cleaners and toasters that eliminated the burden of manual tasks and increased leisure options. Designers and manufacturers continued to appeal to the consumer's aspirations, by producing streamlined forward–looking products, targeting the "American dream". In the USA the majority of people aspired for such things as a secure job in a large corporation, a house in a nice suburb, a large family, a large car, and an array of labour saving devices. Designers and Manufacturers targeted this new generation of "homemakers" and consumers.8 Hence, design became undoubtedly linked with mass production and mass consumption. The affluence of the decade famously summed up by British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan as having "never had it so good." 9 The consultant designers of the 1950s moved increasingly into corporate ... Case Study: Big Cap Players Big Cap Players ($8,000 and Up) Anthony Davis vs POR ($11,600) – The Blazers allow the most points per game in the league and allow the most fantasy points in the league to power forwards. Sounds like a dream matchup for AD. Then throw in the fact, the Blazers haven't looked good of late and the Pelicans have looked better with Jrue Holiday.. DeMarcus Cousins vs HOU ($10,300) – Both of these teams give up a 100+ points a night, so expect plenty of scoring. Plus, Cousins has had 51+ fantasy points in four of his last five games (including a 68 point fantasy game). I could really see Cousins put up huge numbers tonight. . • 36. Classroom Observation After analyzing my sleep for the past week, I've learned that on the average weekday I'm getting around 9 hours of sleep. While on the weekend I get an average of 8 ¼ hours of sleep. Even though I am getting the recommended amount of sleep of around 8 to 9 hours, I notice that I get more sleep during the summer compared to the school year. I conclude this is due to the different environment between the summer months and the school year. Thus, the major difference/factor between the school year and sleep is the amount of time and the amount of stress. Though I am taking summer classes and working a part time job, I still have more time compared to the school year. This extra amount of time gives me plenty of time to complete class work, and enjoy some free time. However, during the school year my class schedule, outside class work, and part–time job take up the majority of my time. Therefore, this may lead me to getting less sleep in order to complete all tasks, and/or the stress of the tasks may keep me up at night thinking about what needs to get done the following day. Some tips from the textbook that may help me for stress reduction before I go to bed are to keep a worry journal, listen to relaxing music before bed, take a warm bath, or read (Teague, Mackenzie, Rosenthal). ... Even though I usually drink coffee in the morning and pop in the mid–afternoon, caffeine can take 4 to 6 hours for just half of the caffeine intake to clear the blood system (Teague, Mackenzie, Rosenthal). There are times at night where I couldn't fall asleep due to feeling awake. This may because of the amount of caffeine I had throughout the day. A recommendation or goal I could give myself is to just cut out the pop and just have coffee in the morning. This would reduce my chance of caffeine in my blood system during the night/late ... • 37. The Pros And Cons Of Trade Secrets Trade secrets bill with controversial civil seizure provision passes Senate By Teague I. Donahey, Holland & Hart LLP Recently, Congress and the courts in the United States have been active in reining in what many have seen as patent system that has run amuck. In the process, they have placed a number of limits on patent holders' ability to effectively and successfully enforce patents. But as opportunities to enforce intellectual property through patent suits have been narrowed, another IP door appears to be opening. For several years, Congress has been working on legislation that would, in effect, federalize what until now has been a state–by–state system of trade secret law. The current version, the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016 (S. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in the United Kingdom, so–called "Anton Piller" orders have been utilized for many years to secure documents and things on an ex parte basis, in exceptional circumstances. Significant Controversy Nevertheless, the prospect of ex parte seizures in the trade secrets context has generated significant controversy in the United States. One major source of concern is the fact–intensive nature and overall complexity of trade secrets disputes. What exactly is the information at issue and does it qualify as a trade secret? How, if at all, has it been maintained in secrecy? Does the target of the seizure really have the information in his or her possession, and if so, how was the information obtained? Was reverse engineering involved? And so on. Even on a preliminary basis, the complex factual issues involved in trade secret disputes may not lend themselves to fair resolution through expedited and non–adversarial ex parte procedures. Indeed, it does not take much imagination to conceive how, in the wrong hands, one–sided ex parte seizure proceedings might be used for improper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"I behaved badly towards nice people and sent truly inappropriate texts," Teague said. "I'm embarrassed and I apologize to everyone involved. This neither reflects my true character or the true character of this great, great university." The school's president, Eric Kaler, said in an email to staff that Teague's resignation followed reports that he had sexually harassed two non–student school employees. He didn't go into detail about the nature of the harassment. "To be clear, sexual harassment will not be tolerated at the University ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Suspense In Stephen King's Cujo Stephen King, the author of Cujo, presents his book on a frightening level of suspense that Lewis Teague, the director of Cujo, a movie based on King's novel, complements wonderfully. Lewis Teague stays true to Stephen's book, occasionally adding his own twist to it. Teague kept to the original story of Cujo by including details and important aspects that are instrumental in creating suspense. In the novel, Donna's son Tad, was not able to unlatch his seatbelt. This was also pictured in the 1983 film. Cujo is a vicious Saint Bernard dog that made everyone fear for their lives and jump out of their seats in the movie as well as the book. Although Lewis possessed the required basic story line and details, he took some liberties of his own. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
