Digital Ethnographic Research
The word "photography" comes from the Greek, meaning "drawing with light". It is a kind of art, as well as a technology with a long path of
development that seems destined to continue as new possibilities for capturing images are discovered. Digital photography has come a long way in a
short amount of time. The digital camera, when first invented, was labeled by many in the industry as no more than an overpriced gimmick that had no
real value in the world of photography. As of 2016, research shows that over 122.68 million households in the U.S. own a digital camera. While those
statistics are impressive, research also shows that 90% of people have only take photos on a phone camera vs. an actual camera. Today, I hope to have

There are tons of brands, models, lenses, accessories, and more that are all an important part of choosing a dependable camera. I hope I was able to
educate you a little bit about the art of the camera, and if the time comes when you're in the market for a digital camera, you now have some
knowledge to help in your decision making. I discussed a lot of technical parts of photography, but the most important part of it, is to have fun.

The Nikon D60- Exploring Features of a Great Camera Essay
As I am a user of many of the popular social networking sites and am on them almost every day, I see that camera's and photography are a very
important part of everyone's lives. I can go to almost anyone's profile and see that they have a picture of themselves and usually at least another
hundred pictures for their friends to look at so that they can see what is going on in their lives. Whenever I go to a professional sports game or am
even just walking down the street, it is hard to go somewhere where nobody has a camera with them ready to capture a moment to share with others.
And now that basically everyone has a cell phone and most of those phones have a built in camera, nobody has an excuse to not be taking pictures

But there are also some great beginner D–SLR's that take great pictures and allow the user many custom settings and great zoom for far away
subjects. Nikon Inc. has been around for a long time creating optics and cameras. As a photographer myself, I know that I can trust Nikon to
create great picture quality and their equipment is very reliable. When I was looking for my first camera, Nikon was in the process of
discontinuing one of their cameras and coming out with a new, better, quicker one. This camera that they came out with was the D60. The D60
has many great features including a 10.2 megapixel sensor as well as quick shutter speed and most importantly a great price. The Nikon D60 is the
perfect camera for any beginner photographer who is not sure if they really want to get into photography or not. It could also be considered as a
great camera for those occasional family portraits and vacations where the quality of pictures matters. With this camera, the consumer gets both an
affordable camera (starting around $650) as well as high quality that will last many years. There are many things that I am particular about as a
serious photographer when it comes to picking out my camera. One of the first things that I look at is the size of the CCD imaging sensor. The D60
by Nikon features a 10.2 megapixel sensor with another feature. The D60 features the EXPEEED image processing concept which doesn't

Rise of Photography in the World of Art Essay
The rise of photography began in the early 1830's in France, and wasn't very popular as most artists preferred a paintbrush and canvas to a new
contraption that wasn't popular and wasn't manufactured locally or globally yet and that was fairly expensive to try to produce, and since this time it
has been debated if photography deserves its place in the art world. Through the late 1800's and the early 1900's it grew in popularity and throughout
time photography went from being badly received to a new form of art though people around the world still debate if it is indeed "art". Photography
has a long history from the first camera obscura in the 18th century to the latest Nikon or Canon camera in the 21st century.

In the United States there was a less expensive and more durable portable camera for a photographer to use to take sitting portraits of families being
developed. During this time many people were inventing products for cameras and for photographers who needed those products, so as each year
went on the cameras had started to be better produced and more durable and less expensive with more training and education. Education was a huge
part as well in the making of a camera, and the usage of a camera, people needed trained photographers so schools had started to have classes on
photography.
The first colour photograph2 was produced in 1861 by James Clark Maxwell, by using primary colours and using those to create a colour photograph
during the editing process. This was a huge milestone in photography and instead of having a black and white photograph, we now were on the way to
creating colour photography. It may not have been mass–produced until the later 1900's but it was still a huge first step towards colour photography.
The 1800's were a huge part of the photography world and how it was invented and re–invented every few years, after its invention, and how it made

Comparison Between Canon And Nikon
1.BRAND DEFINITION
"Unique design, sign, symbol, words, or a combination of these, employed in creating an image that identifies a product and differentiates it from its
competitors" (businessdictionary.com). When we look up the definition of the word "brand" on the internet, the first part of what we get is the
sentence previously cited; however this is not enough to differentiate brand from trademark. The brand is something more complex than a simple
trademark; as Aline Wheeler explains in her book Designing Brand Identity published in 2012, a brand has an emotional side, something a trademark
does not have, that is important to connect it to the customers so the brand can have a long life and a trustful relationship with the clients. ... Show more

Contrary to their competitor Nikon, Canon is more focused on the quality of their products; it justifies the price slightly higher than Nikon's products.
That differentiation with Nikon is also due to the fact that Nikon's cameras are perfect for artistic purpose; they show it well through their very
emotional and goosebumps worthy ads. On the other hand, Canon is more focused on sports, animal photography; their cameras are designed for this
kind of purpose. Even though they have been trying to give off some emotional vibes in their advertisement, it is very important that Canon has a
strongly different positioning from Nikon; the two brands are often compared and people generally hesitate between the two before buying a device –
this is the reason why we can find several different comparison between the two brands' products on the internet. Because of that strong competition
Canon needs to position themselves in a way that potential customers or customers don't let Nikon gets into their head when it's time to buy a camera.
In a market where all the products are quite similar and always being renewed because of new technology, a clear positioning is more than important

The Influence Of Photography On American Culture
"Art is not to be found by touring to Egypt, China, or Peru; if you cannot find it at your own door, you will never find it." – Ralph Waldo Emerson .
Although many might think that it is a waste of time and money, photography is a great hobby that people should try. However, even if someone has
different opinions, they must consider that photography is steadily on its way to becoming a worldwide everyday use, and is already part of the
American culture. Who has contributed to the making of the modern camera in earlier times? In ancient times, at approximately 5th century B.C., the
beginning of the camera was the use of a camera obscura, Greek meaning "Dark room." A camera obscura is a dark room that has a small hole in a

However, in 1727, a professor by the name of J. Schulze made the first known photosensitive compound . J. Schulze mixed chalk, nitric acid, and
silver in a flask, and then noticed how the mixture darkened on the side exposed to the most light, accidentally creating the first photographic
compound. Later, in 1800, Thomas Wedgewood made what he called "sun pictures" by placing objects on a piece of leather treated with silver
nitrate, which were the first photographs, although they faded and deteriorated if exposed to much light. In 1816, NicГ©phore NiГ©pce combined
the photosensitive paper with the camera obscura, which after multiple tries and multiple years, created a permanent image on the paper. In 1834,
Henry Fox Talbot created a permanent image using paper soaked in silver chloride and fixed with a salt solution, which was an image negative.
Talbot could make a positive image by contact printing the image onto another sheet of paper . There were many advancements to the photosensitive
paper, as it started to be explored by more and more scientists and other people. Who has contributed to the modern camera from the 1850's to the
present day? In more recent times, the ideas that were built together to become a camera were compounded more rapidly. In 1851, Frederick Scott
Archer, who was a sculptor from London, improved

Analysis Of The Movie ' Cycles '
Our film, Cycles, is a comedy/drama about a student who witnesses two men getting rid of a body on his way home at night. When they notice
him, he steals a bike and escapes and struggles with a haunting paranoia of the two "gangsters" finding and killing him. The film ends when the
doorbell rings suddenly and he reluctantly opens it expecting to see the men. Instead he sees a girl who wants her bike back after he stole it. He
returns and bike and turns around relieved, only to be clobbered by the two men who had been waiting for him after all. They go to dispose of his
body, but a woman sees them and the film ends with them looking at her, implying that the story loops on itself.

In the 19th century, Gustav Freytag notice a similarity in plays and books and created a diagram to demonstrate this, which consists of 5 milestones in
the story:
1. Exposition/Introduction: This is where the main characters (and some supporting) are introduced and we get a look into their regular lives before
their journey begins. This is also where we see some minor conflict which could build into the main goal.
2. Rising Action: This is where the character's mission is made clear and they begin their journey. Obstacles are introduced to prevent the protagonists
achieving their goals.
3. Climax: The rising action continues building drama until the biggest obstacle lies before the characters, sometimes confronting an antagonist, which
they may or may not overcome.
4. Falling Action: Things become clearer and the characters, depending on if came out on top during the climax, are either closing in to their goal or
feel their furthest away from it. To create suspense, this is normally where a twist would come in, a successful protagonist could find out their friend
was working against them the whole time, or a failed hero discovers something new that gives them another chance.
5. Conclusion: This is where we see the characters triumph or fail and the following consequences. We might see them return to normality or see the
backlash after failing their task. This normally gives the audience a sense of closure and

The Pros And Cons Of The Western Union
Why has Western Union been able to adapt to severe disruptions and survive over so many years?
It never confused the business it was in with the way it conducted its business. At its core, Western Union was about facilitating person–to–person
communications and money transfers –– whether via telegraph, wireless networks, phone, or the Internet. "We always saw ourselves as a
communications company," says President Christina Gold. Contrast that with Kodak. By defining itself too narrowly as a product company all those
years, it was headed for a fall.
Kodak teetered on the precipice and with it stands some of the other once–great businesses of the 20th century, from autos to newspapers. They were
immensely successful and proud, but their very success made it difficult to adjust. "The more successfully you use a way of working, the stronger your
culture is, which is a great strength right up to the time when you need to change," says Clayton Christensen, a professor at Harvard Business School.

Apple's revenues, and an even larger share of profits. If Kodak focused on the consumer experience they provided rather than the actual product the

A Brief Note On The Process Of Photography Essay
Process of Photography
The process of photography is very complex since the beginning when it was first invented. Photography was a form of art invented in the 1830s.
Today os is a multi billion dollar industry with enthusiasts worldwide. The first form of photography was introduced though the form of camera
obscura around the 13th century by an Arabian scholar. It 's a closed box with a hole on the side. The light goes through the hole and creates an
image on the wall of the box. The image was mirrored upside down which was created by the light. The first ever picture taken from a camera was
in 1825 by the inventor Joseph Niepce. The picture was the view out of a window. The first ever color photo taken was in 1861 by James Clerk
Maxwell which was a tartan ribbon. The Kodak Brownie was invented in 1901 which was the first camera available for purchase. It only took black
and white photos. Color photography wasn 't known until the 19th century. By the year 1982 Sony introduced the still video camera which changed
the game. In 1999 Nikon designed the first ever DSLR camera which retailed for $5,000. In the year 2000 the first ever camera phone was
introduced. Today there are many DSLR cameras and camera phones. A well recognized photographer, Steve McCurry finds himself very recognized

Analysis Of The Action Camera Industry Into 3 Strategies...
External Analysis:
Strategic Groups:
We categorized the action camera industry into 3 strategies groups (see Exhibit 1): High Price and High Quality, Medium Price and Medium Quality,
and Low Price and Low Quality. After detailed investigation and market research, we classify GoPro, Sony, TomTom and Garmin as High Price and
High Quality strategic group, because they are producing high–end, multifunctional action camera and the average price for their products are $400 to
$500 dollars, which is highly above the industry average price.
We categorize Contour, Polaroid, ion, Drift as Medium Price and Medium Quality strategic group, since they are offering a generic action camera
product with various functions and standard quality. The price ranges for these brands are usually from $99 to $299, which is around the average of
industry price.
As for SJCAM and Xiaomi, we classify those brands as Low Price and Low Quality strategic group, because the price is significantly low than the
average industry and they provide these action camera most basic functions with high inferior rate. There are also many counterfeits or knockoff
products within this group.
There is a mobility barrier between High Price and High Quality and Medium Price and Medium Quality strategy groups. The mobility barrier is
fairly low in the action camera industry since it does not require huge initial capital investment or economic of scale to be profitable, which illustrates

Negatives Of Kodak 's Top Management
Kodak's top management never fully grasped how the world around them was changing. They hung on to now obsolete assumptions about who took
pictures, why and when.
Kodak always thought that people would never part with hard prints and that people valued film–based photos for their high quality. In other words,
they saw digital as a direct substitute for film based photography. It was interesting to see how little this mindset had shifted even 20 years later. In the
end, digital cameras came to dominate not because they offered higher quality or because everyone was able to or inclined to get a set of hard prints
easily, but because they did not feel the need to.
2. Every Picture Tells a Story
With digital, a significant shift in mind–set occurred in the meanings associated with cameras. Rather than being identified as a piece of purely
photographic equipment, digital cameras came to be seen as electronic gadgets.
The implications of this shift were enormous.
With digital devices, newcomers such as Sony were able to bypass one of Kodak's massive strengths: its distribution network. Instead, digital cameras
became available in electronic retail outlets next to other gadgets. Kodak was now playing on Sony's and other entrants' turf rather than its own.
Similarly, Kodak's brand came to be associated with traditional photography rather than digital.
3. Back to the Future
"Digital" disrupted Kodak's neat equilibrium in yet another important way; women were no longer the main

How to Take Professional Quality Pictures with a Digital...
A former point–and–shoot photographer can take professional quality pictures with a digital SLR (single–lens reflex) camera by learning about and
experimenting with its complex operations. There are many advantages to making the transition from a point–and–shoot digital camera to a digital
SLR camera. These include capturing images "more quickly, more flexibly, and with more creativity" (Busch, Digital 9). Furthermore, taking photos
with a digital SLR camera reduces the amount of time that otherwise would be spent editing with photo–editing software to improve the quality of the
photos. Why would one want to switch from a point–and–shoot digital camera to a digital SLR camera? Some of the reasons are: a more accurate

They capture a subject as it is seen with the eyes. A zoom lens allows one to zoom in and out on a subject. It can zoom from wide–angle to telephoto
focal lengths without switching lenses. Telephoto lenses (for example, 65–130mm) allow one to capture a smaller area of a scene and magnify it
(Sheppard 191–206). According to award–winning photojournalist David D. Busch, "The sensor captures the image during the exposure, and is the
most important component of a dSLR from a digital standpoint" (Busch, Digital 13). The sensor is what determines the resolution of the photo
(megapixels). It also determines how grainy (or noisy) the photo looks, whether the colors are accurate, how much detail is captured in shadows and
highlights, and the effective magnification of the lens. There are big differences among sensors in digital SLR cameras from different vendors. It is
important to compare photos taken with different digital SLR cameras and select a camera that meets one's expectations (Busch, Digital 62). In
general, the more megapixels a camera has, the better quality pictures it will take. However, too many megapixels use too much space on memory
cards and take more time to process on the computer. Exposure is the amount of light that is being let into the camera and how long the light is let in,

Descriptive Essay On Wedding Photography
Wedding Photographer Wedding photographers have a tough job when you think of it. They have one shot at many meaningful moments throughout
one day. Having the essential tools for capturing the special day will allow less of an opportunity for missing some of the crucial shots throughout the
day. Canon offers a camera that makes the job easier for photographers. This camera is the EOS 5D Mark III. The correct choices of lenses are
important as well, without the right lenses, many moments could be missed. Accessories can benefit any photographer in their field. Some of the ones
that can benefit wedding photographers are monopods or tripods, external flashes, and flash diffusers.
Wedding photographers need to have cameras that are able to capture a wide range of lights and darks depending on where the wedding is taking
place. Canon offers a camera that does well in all lighting types, and that camera is the EOS 5D Mark III. According to adorama.com, full–frame
DSLR cameras are the best and most logical options for wedding photography because they produce the sharpest and most detailed images which are
crucial for wedding photography. Wedding photographers' cameras should have a high range of ISO settings. There are many times throughout the
wedding that the light changes and capturing the clear image is hard without having that high range of ISO. The EOS 5D Mark III has a clean ISO
through 2000, with a boosted ISO up to 102,400 (adorama.com).

Use Of Automatic Mode Of A Dslr ( Digital Single Lens...
Introduction
Imagine yourself standing on one of the seven wonders in the world. Surrounded by the symbolic scenery you wish to seal up the beauty forever, but
you're struggling due to a lack of knowledge of how to function a DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera. This user guide will teach you how to use
a DSLR camera from the fundamentals, along with in–depth knowledge of the profession functions using the three most important pillars in
photography; Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO.
Automatic Mode
1.1 What is Automatic Mode
Automatic mode is when the camera self–selects the most appropriate settings for the chosen situation. It determines for you all of the functions such
as shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance (WB), etc. All that is required for you to do then is point and shoot. [1]
1.2 How to Access and Operate Automatic Mode
1.Turn on your camera
2.Twist the mode dial until the green symbol 'auto' lines up with the white marker and your LCD screen displays the correct mode. (Figure 1,2)
3.Select a target and press the shutter button to capture.
Programme Mode
2.1 What is Programme Mode
Above we have discussed about the most basic mode–auto mode. Programme mode is one step more complicated than auto mode. It also self–selects
the shutter speed, aperture, WB and etc for a given situation but the ISO is able to be manually manipulated.

The Invention Of Digital Photography
Introduction
In the early 20th century, when the monochrome camera came to people's sight, round or oval frames were as common as square frames. They offered
a sense of both formality and intimacy. Though the technology of digital photography is increasingly reaching more new heights, nothing can beat
holding a printed photo of a precious memory in hands. The incredible project has once again pushed out a innovation in instant photography. The
instant project is proud of its Impossible Instant Lab to the photographic and digital world. One year ago, it debuted the Instant Lab and received a

photographic films with better material and decoration. Consequently, the cost of it is higher and the price is more expensive at 50 penny and 1 pound
respectively.

which influence consumer behaviour in the buying process. This report uses Canon Inc as an illustration along with the discussion of each topic.
Firstly, this report will discuss the background and size of the digital camera industry. The digital camera industry is getting bigger with the

In order to operate the firm efficiently with appropriate strategies, Canon must understand the rules and regulations of each country where their retail
shops operate. As rules and regulations are different in each country, this understanding will help Canon to adapt their strategies in different markets.
2.2.2 Economic
Economic issues concern inflation, unemployment rate and economic growth. There are two major economic concerns; changes in income and
changes in consumer spending patterns. Since economic forces can be used to forecast future sales and determine the strategies which may be used
during specific economic situations. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), GDP rose 0.9% seasonally adjusted (March 2007–June
2007) and final consumption expenditure rose 0.5 % seasonally adjusted (March 2007–June 2007). This may be because the country's economy is
stable. During this time, the company is expected to produce more in order to meet consumer demand. For Canon, the increase in GDP seems to affect
their products in the market. However, only GDP may not be sufficient to forecast the market, and thus, marketers also need to look at other factors as
well such as CPI, the country's population and changes in customer value.
2.2.3 Social
According to Suchard and Polonski (1991), the socially conscious customers feel strongly that whatever they do, they will consider the social

Photography Essay : My Passion For Photography
My passion for photography began in High School, from the moment I walked into Photography 1, I was in love. I seemed to have a good eye when
it came to landscape and animal photography, after hours of taking photos I would then spend hours in the dark room developing. For me, photography
has been no more than just a hobby. I admire all professional photographers, especially those who specialize in newborn photography, because I envy
them. I found Jessica Kennedy, of Jessica Rachel Photography, on Facebook. Her style and ability to take beautiful photographs captured my eye
instantly. I did, what most people do, and followed her. I am always amazed when her pictures display on my newsfeed, especially the newborns, I just
can't help but look. Kennedy's loved for photography started with an obsession with her taking pictures of her children and turned to photography as a
hobby. Then with a gifted DSLR (Digital Single–Lens Reflex) camera she started researching classes in her area. She states "from there is snowballed",
taking any opportunity that came along to gain hands on experience. She started her business in 2011, and then in 2016 her LLC (Limited Liability
Company) business began. She started by advertising through Facebook and 'word of mouth'. She feels social media is the easiest way to connect
with clients, without the burden of cost. Kennedy also partners with her local OBGYN clinic and Stork Vision ( a pregnancy ultrasound office), by

Photography Is A Type Of Art
Photography has been around for many years. In the time that the first camera was invented to present day, various styles of photography have evolved.
Two types of photography that are very common today are street and nature or landscape photography. Although these styles of photography have many
similarities, they have some differences as well. The subject, camera equipment, and location are three major differences in these styles. All types of
photography will have a main focus, or subject. Street photography is a type of art that focuses on the people and the art in which that city
contains. For good street photography, you want to be located in a busy city or downtown area. Ideal locations in the US include New York,
Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, Las Vegas, and many more. This is because in a large city with lots of traffic, you see many different types of people.
All street photographers have different types of styles of portraying this in their work, but the people of a city are a main focus. Street photographers
like to focus on subjects such as construction workers working in the middle of the road, businessmen/women rushing from point A to point B, the
environment of a homeless person, and many other things. It is also popular in street photography to capture city art like graffiti and performers.
Equipment is very important with every photographer. The two main things that are important for good quality photos are the lens and the camera
body. Street

The Impact Of Photography On Digital Photography
Photography is a word derived from the Greek words, photos meaning "light" and graphein meaning "to draw" (History of Photography). The word
was first used by the scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839 (History of Photography and the Camera). It is a method of recording images by the
action of light, or related radiation, on a sensitive material. The end of the 19th century was an important time in camera history. Shutters were
incorporated into cameras, the size of the devices decreased and these moments set the stage for a new, ever–changing century of innovation in digital
photography (From Shutters to DSLR). Digital camera technology was born out of the spy satellite program designed to reduce the difficulties of
collecting photographic data from cameras in orbit (From Shutters to DSLR). From these early designs, digital cameras increased in resolution and
decreased in size and cost until they gradually became practical for widespread consumer use. Following many years of steady development, Nikon has
been contributed to incredible innovations as a leading company in digital camera industry.
The first pinhole camera was invented by Alhazen, a great authority on optics in the Middle Ages who lived around 1000AD, and it was able to
explain why the images were upside down (History of Photography and the Camera). The first practical process of photography was performed in
1829, Niepce used paper coated with silver chloride, succeeded in photographing the images formed in

Example Of A Worldview Essay
A worldview is a set of basic beliefs about the nature of reality. It affects the way a person behaves and responds to different circumstances. When
young, our worldview is influenced by parents, who tell us what is right and wrong. However, as we grew up, our life experiences come to shape
worldviews that we hold as adults. As scientists, our worldviews matter a great deal. Whether theist or atheist, it is critical to know what we consider
to be our responsibility towards everyone and everything around us. In this paper, I talk about views of a number of scientists about God and creation
and the impact of these beliefs on their approach to science. In addition, we will look at different natural phenomena and what they tell us about the
Intelligence design behind them. I will also discuss the effects of human actions on the environment and what can be done to keep it clean.
Isaac Newton is one of the most prominent scientists in recent times. He is known for his contribution on understanding gravity, and he contributed a
lot in calculus. Many thinkers and scientists of his time tried to explain everything using science excluding the role of God in their explanation.
Unlike them, Newton was a strong religious person. He believed in a personal God but rejected the idea of the Holy Trinity. He did not believe that

"Customer service is what the customer says it is". This assignment will be examining the importance of customer service, delivered by business and its
employees and why customer satisfaction is important especially within the service sector. To illustrate this, an example of a bad customer service that
was condoned by myself will be provided.
At the end of last year in summer semester break I flew to my country to unite with my family. While going there I bought a DSLR camera for my

Unit 30 Digital Graphics Assignment
Unit 30 Digital Graphics Assignment Task 1 (A)Graphics Card A graphics card is a component of a computer system that helps to generate an
image on the computer screen. Graphics cards are connected between the CPU and the screen in a computer system in order to provide the user
with a clear image on the screen, a graphics card has its own RAM and its own Graphics Processor, and this means that it does not rely on the CPU
to provide the entire RAM for the computer system. The inclusion of RAM into the graphics card means that the card will take care of most of the
graphics processing allowing the computers RAM to do other jobs and do them more efficiently. The information process begins in the CPU
where it sends information about the image to the graphics card; the graphics card decides how to use the pixels to create the image on the screen.
There are different types of graphics card available and some are better than others.. A good quality graphics card produces smoother video and
graphics playback and sharper pictures. A good graphics card can mean a faster refresh rate so if working with photos you can display them quicker
and have better colour resolution. A graphics card can be used where it can produce high definition gameplay and also enable dual display and even
use a television screen as a monitor through the use of a HDMI cable. High end graphics cards can be upwards of five thousand pounds whereas lower
end graphics cards can be as low as fifty pounds. For a

Cameras, The Right Angle, And Camera Cameras
Cameras are to photographers as paints and brushers are to painters. With the right angle, lighting, and composition, a photographer can turn a simple
scene into a work of art. Cameras capture moments that would otherwise be lost, and allows them to be saved and shared. They create photos which
reveal how beautiful life is; they tell a wordless story. Each photographer has their own favorites, own style, and own experiences which call for
certain types of cameras. The most popular cameras are Point–and–Shoot, DSLR, and SLR. The Point–and–Shoot is the simplest of all the cameras.
You just point thecamera, and shoot the photo. Most use focus free lenses or autofocus for focusing, automatic systems for setting the exposure options,
and have flash units built in. They are popular with people who do not consider themselves photographers and just need a camera to document special
events or other daily things they want to remember or deem as photo worthy. Point–and–Shoot cameras have several physical pros. They are very
compact, so they're very easy to just slip into one's pocket and carry anywhere. They are light weight and don't require any excess accessories such as
bags or tripods to carry it around. They all come with fixed lenses, so you don't have to worry about changing lenses. They have a massive depth of
field which means that typically can't separate foreground from background, bringing everything in focus and making the entire scene look sharp. And,

Liz Masoner confirms this in her article, "An Introduction to Photojournalism" by saying, "Photojournalism is not just 'taking news pictures.'
Photojournalism doesn't mean you are employed by a specific newspaper or working in a war zone. Photojournalism, but simply, is about capturing
verbs" (Masoner). With that, photojournalism isn't not always a career. Everyday people can be photojournalists which can acquire these shots that tell
a tale. Photojournalism is capturing a story in one picture without words, while normal photography is a mix of actions and names in portions. A very
important piece of this is about showing the world a story of something that actually happened. In the acknowledgement of photojournalism, supporting
proof of witness is an expression that comes to mind. Another key part of this is art is letting the world have a visual through your eyes for just a
moment. When it's done correctly, that one moment shows a volume of time (Masoner). Photojournalism has been around for over 100 years, but it
first began in 1853. When photojournalism first began, it wasn't with cameras because they had not been invented yet. Towne states that the very first
photojournalist was Carol Szatmari who was a Romanian painter and photographer that documented the Crimean War. The first journalistic pictures
which were printed had to be removed from engravings because there

There is nothing like an all–purpose lens. Each lens is suitable for a particular purpose.
Each lens has some pro and cons.
Different lenses render how we perceive the subject and setting descriptively, emotionally and aesthetically. Different lenses give the freedom of
choosing the angle of view according to the subject and are measured by the focal length. Focal length of a DSLR camera is the distance between the
optical centre of a lens to the imaging sensor when the lens is focused at infinity.
The two main choices of a film maker while choosing lens is either a prime lens (lens with a fixed focal length) or a zoom lens (lens with a
variable focal length). For narrative film making prime lenses are best. Prime lenses are faster as compared to zoom lenses. Fast refers to the
maximum opening (aperture) of the lens. Fast lenses (such as f/1.4 or f/1.8) allow shooting in low lighting conditions. Fast lenses allow capturing

Digital Ethnographic Research

  • 1. Digital Ethnographic Research The word "photography" comes from the Greek, meaning "drawing with light". It is a kind of art, as well as a technology with a long path of development that seems destined to continue as new possibilities for capturing images are discovered. Digital photography has come a long way in a short amount of time. The digital camera, when first invented, was labeled by many in the industry as no more than an overpriced gimmick that had no real value in the world of photography. As of 2016, research shows that over 122.68 million households in the U.S. own a digital camera. While those statistics are impressive, research also shows that 90% of people have only take photos on a phone camera vs. an actual camera. Today, I hope to have the opportunity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are tons of brands, models, lenses, accessories, and more that are all an important part of choosing a dependable camera. I hope I was able to educate you a little bit about the art of the camera, and if the time comes when you're in the market for a digital camera, you now have some knowledge to help in your decision making. I discussed a lot of technical parts of photography, but the most important part of it, is to have fun. Experiment a little, get creative, and mess around with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Nikon D60- Exploring Features of a Great Camera Essay As I am a user of many of the popular social networking sites and am on them almost every day, I see that camera's and photography are a very important part of everyone's lives. I can go to almost anyone's profile and see that they have a picture of themselves and usually at least another hundred pictures for their friends to look at so that they can see what is going on in their lives. Whenever I go to a professional sports game or am even just walking down the street, it is hard to go somewhere where nobody has a camera with them ready to capture a moment to share with others. And now that basically everyone has a cell phone and most of those phones have a built in camera, nobody has an excuse to not be taking pictures everywhere they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But there are also some great beginner D–SLR's that take great pictures and allow the user many custom settings and great zoom for far away subjects. Nikon Inc. has been around for a long time creating optics and cameras. As a photographer myself, I know that I can trust Nikon to create great picture quality and their equipment is very reliable. When I was looking for my first camera, Nikon was in the process of discontinuing one of their cameras and coming out with a new, better, quicker one. This camera that they came out with was the D60. The D60 has many great features including a 10.2 megapixel sensor as well as quick shutter speed and most importantly a great price. The Nikon D60 is the perfect camera for any beginner photographer who is not sure if they really want to get into photography or not. It could also be considered as a great camera for those occasional family portraits and vacations where the quality of pictures matters. With this camera, the consumer gets both an affordable camera (starting around $650) as well as high quality that will last many years. There are many things that I am particular about as a serious photographer when it comes to picking out my camera. One of the first things that I look at is the size of the CCD imaging sensor. The D60 by Nikon features a 10.2 megapixel sensor with another feature. The D60 features the EXPEEED image processing concept which doesn't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rise of Photography in the World of Art Essay The rise of photography began in the early 1830's in France, and wasn't very popular as most artists preferred a paintbrush and canvas to a new contraption that wasn't popular and wasn't manufactured locally or globally yet and that was fairly expensive to try to produce, and since this time it has been debated if photography deserves its place in the art world. Through the late 1800's and the early 1900's it grew in popularity and throughout time photography went from being badly received to a new form of art though people around the world still debate if it is indeed "art". Photography has a long history from the first camera obscura in the 18th century to the latest Nikon or Canon camera in the 21st century. Photography is traced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the United States there was a less expensive and more durable portable camera for a photographer to use to take sitting portraits of families being developed. During this time many people were inventing products for cameras and for photographers who needed those products, so as each year went on the cameras had started to be better produced and more durable and less expensive with more training and education. Education was a huge part as well in the making of a camera, and the usage of a camera, people needed trained photographers so schools had started to have classes on photography. The first colour photograph2 was produced in 1861 by James Clark Maxwell, by using primary colours and using those to create a colour photograph during the editing process. This was a huge milestone in photography and instead of having a black and white photograph, we now were on the way to creating colour photography. It may not have been mass–produced until the later 1900's but it was still a huge first step towards colour photography. The 1800's were a huge part of the photography world and how it was invented and re–invented every few years, after its invention, and how it made its mark in the art and art history ... • 5. Comparison Between Canon And Nikon 1.BRAND DEFINITION "Unique design, sign, symbol, words, or a combination of these, employed in creating an image that identifies a product and differentiates it from its competitors" (businessdictionary.com). When we look up the definition of the word "brand" on the internet, the first part of what we get is the sentence previously cited; however this is not enough to differentiate brand from trademark. The brand is something more complex than a simple trademark; as Aline Wheeler explains in her book Designing Brand Identity published in 2012, a brand has an emotional side, something a trademark does not have, that is important to connect it to the customers so the brand can have a long life and a trustful relationship with the clients. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contrary to their competitor Nikon, Canon is more focused on the quality of their products; it justifies the price slightly higher than Nikon's products. That differentiation with Nikon is also due to the fact that Nikon's cameras are perfect for artistic purpose; they show it well through their very emotional and goosebumps worthy ads. On the other hand, Canon is more focused on sports, animal photography; their cameras are designed for this kind of purpose. Even though they have been trying to give off some emotional vibes in their advertisement, it is very important that Canon has a strongly different positioning from Nikon; the two brands are often compared and people generally hesitate between the two before buying a device – this is the reason why we can find several different comparison between the two brands' products on the internet. Because of that strong competition Canon needs to position themselves in a way that potential customers or customers don't let Nikon gets into their head when it's time to buy a camera. • 6. The Influence Of Photography On American Culture "Art is not to be found by touring to Egypt, China, or Peru; if you cannot find it at your own door, you will never find it." – Ralph Waldo Emerson . Although many might think that it is a waste of time and money, photography is a great hobby that people should try. However, even if someone has different opinions, they must consider that photography is steadily on its way to becoming a worldwide everyday use, and is already part of the American culture. Who has contributed to the making of the modern camera in earlier times? In ancient times, at approximately 5th century B.C., the beginning of the camera was the use of a camera obscura, Greek meaning "Dark room." Schulze made the first known photosensitive compound . J. Schulze mixed chalk, nitric acid, and silver in a flask, and then noticed how the mixture darkened on the side exposed to the most light, accidentally creating the first photographic compound. Later, in 1800, Thomas Wedgewood made what he called "sun pictures" by placing objects on a piece of leather treated with silver nitrate, which were the first photographs, although they faded and deteriorated if exposed to much light. In 1816, NicГ©phore NiГ©pce combined the photosensitive paper with the camera obscura, which after multiple tries and multiple years, created a permanent image on the paper. In 1834, Henry Fox Talbot created a permanent image using paper soaked in silver chloride and fixed with a salt solution, which was an image negative. Talbot could make a positive image by contact printing the image onto another sheet of paper . There were many advancements to the photosensitive paper, as it started to be explored by more and more scientists and other people. Who has contributed to the modern camera from the 1850's to the present day? In more recent times, the ideas that were built together to become a camera were compounded more rapidly. • 7. Analysis Of The Movie ' Cycles ' Our film, Cycles, is a comedy/drama about a student who witnesses two men getting rid of a body on his way home at night. When they notice him, he steals a bike and escapes and struggles with a haunting paranoia of the two "gangsters" finding and killing him. The film ends when the doorbell rings suddenly and he reluctantly opens it expecting to see the men. Instead he sees a girl who wants her bike back after he stole it. He returns and bike and turns around relieved, only to be clobbered by the two men who had been waiting for him after all. In the 19th century, Gustav Freytag notice a similarity in plays and books and created a diagram to demonstrate this, which consists of 5 milestones in the story: 1. Exposition/Introduction: This is where the main characters (and some supporting) are introduced and we get a look into their regular lives before their journey begins. This is also where we see some minor conflict which could build into the main goal. 2. Rising Action: This is where the character's mission is made clear and they begin their journey. Obstacles are introduced to prevent the protagonists achieving their goals. 3. Climax: The rising action continues building drama until the biggest obstacle lies before the characters, sometimes confronting an antagonist, which they may or may not overcome. 4. Falling Action: Things become clearer and the characters, depending on if came out on top during the climax, are either closing in to their goal or feel their furthest away from it. To create suspense, this is normally where a twist would come in, a successful protagonist could find out their friend was working against them the whole time, or a failed hero discovers something new that gives them another chance. 5. Conclusion: This is where we see the characters triumph or fail and the following consequences. We might see them return to normality or see the backlash after failing their task. • 8. The Pros And Cons Of The Western Union Why has Western Union been able to adapt to severe disruptions and survive over so many years? It never confused the business it was in with the way it conducted its business. At its core, Western Union was about facilitating person–to–person communications and money transfers –– whether via telegraph, wireless networks, phone, or the Internet. "We always saw ourselves as a communications company," says President Christina Gold. Contrast that with Kodak. By defining itself too narrowly as a product company all those years, it was headed for a fall. Kodak teetered on the precipice and with it stands some of the other once–great businesses of the 20th century, from autos to newspapers. They were immensely successful and proud, but their very success made it difficult to adjust. "The more successfully you use a way of working, the stronger your culture is, which is a great strength right up to the time when you need to change," says Clayton Christensen, a professor at Harvard Business School. By making iPod and iTunes work with Windows PCs, Apple broke out of selling only to its niche of loyal fans. But its transformation is even more profound than that: In essence, it switched from being a great designer of computer products into a great designer of consumer experiences delivered via devices and services. Now music represents 44% of Apple's revenues, and an even larger share of profits. They hung on to now obsolete assumptions about who took pictures, why and when. Kodak always thought that people would never part with hard prints and that people valued film–based photos for their high quality. In other words, they saw digital as a direct substitute for film based photography. It was interesting to see how little this mindset had shifted even 20 years later. In the end, digital cameras came to dominate not because they offered higher quality or because everyone was able to or inclined to get a set of hard prints easily, but because they did not feel the need to. 2. Every Picture Tells a Story With digital, a significant shift in mind–set occurred in the meanings associated with cameras. Rather than being identified as a piece of purely photographic equipment, digital cameras came to be seen as electronic gadgets. The implications of this shift were enormous. With digital devices, newcomers such as Sony were able to bypass one of Kodak's massive strengths: its distribution network. Instead, digital cameras became available in electronic retail outlets next to other gadgets. Kodak was now playing on Sony's and other entrants' turf rather than its own. Similarly, Kodak's brand came to be associated with traditional photography rather than digital. 3. A former point–and–shoot photographer can take professional quality pictures with a digital SLR (single–lens reflex) camera by learning about and experimenting with its complex operations. There are many advantages to making the transition from a point–and–shoot digital camera to a digital SLR camera. These include capturing images "more quickly, more flexibly, and with more creativity" (Busch, Digital 9). Furthermore, taking photos with a digital SLR camera reduces the amount of time that otherwise would be spent editing with photo–editing software to improve the quality of the photos. They capture a subject as it is seen with the eyes. A zoom lens allows one to zoom in and out on a subject. It can zoom from wide–angle to telephoto focal lengths without switching lenses. Telephoto lenses (for example, 65–130mm) allow one to capture a smaller area of a scene and magnify it (Sheppard 191–206). According to award–winning photojournalist David D. Busch, "The sensor captures the image during the exposure, and is the most important component of a dSLR from a digital standpoint" (Busch, Digital 13). The sensor is what determines the resolution of the photo (megapixels). It also determines how grainy (or noisy) the photo looks, whether the colors are accurate, how much detail is captured in shadows and highlights, and the effective magnification of the lens. There are big differences among sensors in digital SLR cameras from different vendors. It is important to compare photos taken with different digital SLR cameras and select a camera that meets one's expectations (Busch, Digital 62). In general, the more megapixels a camera has, the better quality pictures it will take. However, too many megapixels use too much space on memory cards and take more time to process on the computer. The word was first used by the scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839 (History of Photography and the Camera). It is a method of recording images by the action of light, or related radiation, on a sensitive material. The end of the 19th century was an important time in camera history. Shutters were incorporated into cameras, the size of the devices decreased and these moments set the stage for a new, ever–changing century of innovation in digital photography (From Shutters to DSLR).
