2. Grandma at home
• Grandma lived in a bungalow with a big
garden in the English countryside and had
a car
• Grandma did not have a TV until she was
seven
• She did not have a washing machine until
she was a teenager
4. Grandad at home
• Grandad lived in Yorkshire in England in a
terraced house (houses joined together).
Every fourth house there was a
passageway to get to the back of all of the
houses
• He played soccer and ball games in the
streets
5. • At home Grandma played in the woods
and streams with her brothers
• On May day (a special holiday in England)
the whole village had singing and dancing
and the children danced around the May

6. At school
• Grandma learnt to sew and to knit
dishcloths on big knitting needles
• Grandma had to sit up straight with her
arms folded and if she made lots of
spelling mistakes she got hit with a ruler
• Grandma played games like hopscotch
and singing
• Grandad wrote with a special pen that had
a nib to dip into an ink pot. They did not
have ballpoint pens like we do

• With grandad my favourite things to do are
building and playing soccer
• My favourite thing to do with grandma is
baking
• Its exciting hanging out with grandma and
grandad
