A Smartphone-in-the-Loop Active State-ofCharge Manager for Electric Vehicles
Abstract:
The urge to quickly and effectively respond to the need of new solutions for safe and
green mobility is being recognized worldwide both from public institutions and from the
Industrial automotive world. In this context, recent efforts converge toward electric vehicles
(EVs), which seem to be the most promising technology to achieve the needed reduction of
greenhouse gas emissions and to form the basis for new models of urban mobility. As electric
and hybrid vehicles are gaining more and more popularity also among the average consumers,
significant research efforts are being devoted to study and design active energy management
strategies. In the hybrid vehicles literature, optimization problems have been defined in order to
design optimal strategies for managing the power distribution between the combustion engine
and the electric motor so as to achieve fuel consumption minimization.
Existing System:
Gasoline vehicles were used in most of countries, since petrol and diesel is available
scarcely and expense for gasoline vehicle is much higher than electric vehicles.
Proposed System:
Environmental concerns and the steadily decreasing oil supplies have promoted a
significant interest in electric vehicles as a solution for the mobility of the near future, especially
in urban environments. The correct handling of the energy behavior on board is one of the most
critical problems to be addressed. Here we developed a robot car which runs using battery. The
battery status will be continuously updated to the user’s mobile through Bluetooth technology.
Android application has been developed to receive the battery status; ultrasonic sensor is also
used to detect the obstacle on its way to prevent accidents.
