“...both the many and the cultivated call it happiness, and

• Constant practice of the good no matter how difficult
the circumstances may be .
• Is the excellence of character that empowers one to do
and be good.
According to Nicomachean Ethics 2:1, there are two kinds of virtue:
• Intellectual- owes its birth and growth to teaching
(experience & time)
• Moral- result of habit.

9. HAPPINESS AS THE GOAL OF A GOOD LIFE
• In the 18th century, John Stuart Mill introduced the
greatest happiness principle, stating that actions are
right when they maximize overall happiness.
• He emphasized individual happiness and its collective impact on
ethical actions, like mining. Ethical actions benefit the majority
and lead to a good and happy life, a goal pursued throughout
history by various school of thought.

The ultimate goal of a good life, according to
Aristotle, is not just feeling happy but living
virtously, Pursuing what’s meaningful, and
realizing your full potencial. Its about achieving
human flourishing and fulfillment.
( Boniwell 2000 )

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY IN
ACHIEVING GOOD LIFE?
Stutz (2006), adds that a good life means meeting basic
needs and achieving freedom, belonging , and self-
realization. However, technology also alters time and
space; for instance, social media connects people
worldwide instantly. It even let us modify our bodies
through hormones. Deciding which technologies to
embrace while considering ethics and pursuit of a
good life is crucial.

and Good Life”, discussed these ideas in an interview
at the university of Montana’s Philosophy Program.
