2. MODEL 10-15 mins
“He was a lonely ghost uttering a truth
that no one would ever hear. But so
long as he uttered it in some obscure
way the continuity was not broken. It
was not by making yourself heard but
by staying sane that you carried on the
human heritage.”
3. Students will work in groups of two
and choose the pieces of text and film
clips that they want to compare 30
mins
4. I will assess how students are working
together and if they are grasping the
lesson by observing each group 3-5 mins
and asking questions based on what I see.
5. 15 MINS: Each group will have the
opportunity to present their work to
the class and have Q and A to assess
the class’ understanding of each group.
6. I will ask the students to talk about their ideas for
modern adaptations of “1984”. We will also discuss
the ways in which technology use is different in “1984”
from present-day, the context is which technology is
used in each of these instances, and who is making use
of the technology.
7. Students will complete a worksheet in which they will
be asked to compare different aspects of the book to
present-day society.
