2. Drop Intro
The genre of my music magazine is house/upbeat dance music
which is a bit of a mix. I chose this because I think it is different to
other magazines and is quite unique as it has some variety in it. It
will be published monthly at £3.00. Even though from my
research is said readers would prefer it priced between £1.50-
£2.50 they didn’t take into account whether it would be
published weekly or monthly. As my magazine is monthly pricing
it at £3.00 is acceptable for the content.
5. The working title for my magazine is ‘Drop.’ This is
because it associates with the genre of music that it is
about and designed for. I’ve flipped the ‘R’ in to add it
something different and show that it has a unique point
about it.
This is the font I am going to use. It is
called Venus Rising and the colours I am
considering for it will depend on the
theme of the issue for that month so it
can vary.
6. This is the design that I am going to go for as it in cooperates my colour scheme of my
magazine into the masthead. I felt that the neon green showed the theme and genre
of the music as it looks electric. By having the backwards ‘R’ in that colour it highlights
the different feature.
7. The Mission Statement:
Our mission of Drop is to make the reader as involved
with there music as possible, keeping them up to date
and engaging with them throughout the experience.
Each issue will include content that appeals to the
readers and will cover a variety of topics to keep it
remaining fresh and new.
8. For my contents page I think I
am going to use this font. I think
this is the clearest and simplest
one out of them but isn’t too
boring to appeal to my
audience.
I like this text but I don’t think
it would work very well with
my genre. I think that it has a
horror effect to it which is not
what I want for the theme of
my magazine.
I really like this font but as it is
italics I think it would be harder
to work with and fit onto my
contents page or use as the title
for my double page spread.
HEADINGS
I like this text as well as I think
that it is different and has an
edgy effect on it. However I
don’t think that it would suit
my style of magazine as it looks
more like a game or movie font
and not suitable for my genre.
9. I think I am going to
use a text font like
this for my text on
my pages as it is
quite simple and
easy to read.
I like this font as it think it is
electro and would suit my
genre of music on my
magazine. However, I think
it is too strong for the
normal text in my magazine
so I think I will find another
use for it
I think this font is a bit too
much for the texts in my
magazine and I think I
would overcrowd I if I had
all my texts in this font.
This is my colour scheme
for throughout my
magazine as I think it all
blends well together. The
black and white keep it
simple whereas the
electric green shows that
the magazine has electro
music as well as adding a
brighter element to the
two contrasting colours.
11. I like this mock design
as I think it will suit
the whole style of my
magazine as it allows
to show what's inside
the magazine.
However by having a
long shot in the middle
of the magazine it
makes it look like she is
the main focus and
that the magazine is all
about her when I want
mine to show the rest
of the context inside.
I really like the
masthead laid
out across the
whole of the
page as I want it
to be the main
focus of the
front cover so
the audience
are aware of
what it is.
12. I don’t think I am
going to use this
design as I don’t
want my front
cover to be too
crowded and look
busy.
As the genre of
music of my
magazine isn’t so
much of the
celebrities but
rather the type of
music in it, making
the image of the
celebrity the main
focus of the front
cover it just
wouldn’t suit idea.
Due to the image
being so
empowering, it
needs little text
around it else it
will be too busy. I
will in cooperate
this into my
magazine and not
have much text
around the page.
13. I like this mock
design and I think
this is the one I am
going to base
mine on. I like how
simple it is and
not overcrowded
it is with smaller
images.
As the medium close
up shot takes up
quite a lot of the
page it doesn’t make
it necessary for
smaller pictures on it
keeping it simple yet
full.
I also like the angle
the main image is
at, toward s the side
so I will have the
leads ant texts
along the left hand
side giving it a
structured order.
Again, like the
other designs it
needs little text
on the front due
to the
background and
busy image.
15. I like the medium close
up shot going across the
double page spread as it
shows the article is all
about her.
I like the title in
the corner as well
as I think it fits
along side the
main photo and
doesn’t stand out
more.
Framing the text around her
adds something different to it
however I don’t want the middle
of the pages lining between her
face so if I was to use this design
the main photo would have to
be shifted more onto one page.
16. This one is similar to the
first however the text is
laid out differently and it
also features a smaller
image.
I prefer the text all to one
side as it then doesn’t
enclose the photo too
much and allows it to be
the main focus and not
all text.
Preferably I would like a
smaller image of e.g.
festival in the corner of
the page but I think it
could look odd if there is
too many colours being
used on the picture.
17. This design I think would be the easiest to do however I think that it
is quite boring and I don’t want that as it wont appeal to my
audience. I think that it looks too simple having the text and pictures
separate and I think it looks better layering the m together.
19. I want my contents page
to be quite simple just
consisting of the
important information
and small pictures of
what's inside the
magazine.
I tried out my colour
scheme and used it as
the background on the
pages but I think I will
go for white as it
won’t look too
crowded and be easier
to read for the
audience.
