2. GENRE
I believe for our preliminary task, we should show a
seasonal film with regards to the season Christmas
which is upcoming. With creating a Christmas film, we
can have a wide range of audience; children, families
and adults. This means it can be a joyous film for the
special time of year that families around the Christmas
tree can enjoy. Its also the right time of year to make a
Christmas film as its nearly December.
3. PLOT
For the plot, I believe it would be a good idea if one of
our group members dresses up as Santa and acts the
part of Santa. However, this year for Christmas Mrs
Claus discovers Santa is too ill to deliver his presents
to all the children. We go on a journey throughout the
film to discover the best child for the job, to help
Santa's deliver his presents.
4. OPENING SCENE
In the opening scene, we see Santa in his office which we will use
mise en scene to create with his wife Mrs Claus entering. Santa is
sneezing vigorously, whilst Mrs Claus exclaims how he is too ill to
deliver the children's presents. Santa then decides he needs a child to
help him deliver the presents to all the children. This is where the
enigma is created as the audience comprehend which child will
become Santa's helper.
5. INFLUENCES
My influences for the film idea have come from how
the season coming up is Christmas and everyone has
begun to watch Christmas films. I also received
inspiration from the film ‘The 2nd day of Christmas’ for
the beginning to start off with a shot tracking
backwards from the Ferris wheel in Winter
Wonderland. I also got inspiration from the film called
‘Hop’ as the Easter bunny goes missing and they have
to find a replacement.
6. CHARACTERS
Within our film opening we will need the characters of:
Santa
Mrs Claus
Children to help Santa
7. LOCATION/S
The film opening is set within the famous Winter Wonderland as
it helps build up the plot. It also helps indicate the genre for the
audience as well as sets the seen for the type of year it is.
Winter Wonderland is Christmas place where families will visit
to receive the season vibe, and also to view Santa. We would
also film in other places but that needs further discussing if we
was to take the idea up.
8. MUSIC
We will be including Christmas music to further make the genre
evident but also yet again set the time of year. We would include the
songs:
‘Silent Night’ to open up the film scene and other Christmas songs
like ‘Jingle Bells’, however it needs to be further discussed with the
group if we was to take up my idea.
