requests – with no impact on the operational system. This streamlined modeling
workflow supports direct access models for detailed line items, as well as analytic
models for more complex analytic processing.

SAP HANA provides a streamlined workflow from idea to analysis. The workflow
covers the entire process, starting from the identification of relevant operational
data (turning raw data into relevant information), to the generation of semantically
grouped information in models, and finally the publishing of the completed models.
The key difference of SAP HANA from traditional analytic models is the absence
of any materialization – all models are purely virtual, and calculate results based on
the underlying detailed operational data. The absence of materializations makes
model changes very easy.

SAP HANA can access any data. In scenarios where organizations require
operational data from non-SAP applications or would like to expand on existing
analytic models, any source of data can be used as a foundation in SAP HANA.
Using the SAP BusinessObjects Data Services component, non-SAP operational
data can be loaded in-memory into SAP HANA, enabling businesses to generate a
complete picture for a specific business situation via a very lean process.

SAP HANA adds an easy-to-use modeling experience to further increase the
autonomy of business users. Using semantically enriched views that turn raw
operational data into understandable relevant information, business users can
autonomously create new analytic models in a web-based modeling environment.

The full business intelligence capabilities of SAP BusinessObjects can directly
leverage SAP HANA’s in-memory data, giving business users a complete range of
insight and analysis capabilities for all high performance applications. However, if
users prefer to employ Excel – or other tools and applications – for insight and
analysis, they can connect to SAP HANA via standard interfaces such as MDX or
SQL.

SAP HANA provides standard interfaces to existing applications, operational
systems or other business applications. This means that SAP HANA will not
disrupt existing landscapes by connecting to existing data sources, and easily
leverages investments in existing BI clients. SAP HANA provides quick benefits as
a turnkey, real-time analytic solution.

SAP HANA will change the way your company does business by enabling real
time insight in business operations as they happen! Come visits us at SAP to
discover how SAP HANA will allow your organization to run smarter, run
simpler and run bolder.

SAP SOLUTION BRIEF SAP High Performance SAP HIGH PERFORMANCE ANALYTIC Analytic Appliance APPLIANCE (SAP HANA) THE NEXT WAVE OF SAP’S IN-MEMORY COMPUTING TECHNOLOGY SAP HANA is a flexible, multi- Powerful Analytic Appliance SAP HANA Benefits purpose, data-source-agonistic, for Real Time Insight SAP HANA provides a multi-purpose, in-memory appliance that SAP® HANA enables organizations to in-memory appliance, allowing combines SAP software analyze their business operations, using organizations to gain instant insight into huge volumes of detailed information, business operations, so they can components optimized on as business happens. Organizations demand insight warehouses, operational and analytical into business operations as they systems. SAP HANA will form the happen. But the volume of operational technology foundation for new, data available for business insight often innovative applications based on exceeds the amount of data that in-memory technology, thus enabling traditional disk-based systems can better performing business applications process within a reasonable time. As a such as planning, forecasting, result, organizations are forced to operational performance and simulation reduce the data from operational solutions. The first business application applications into analytic models for running on SAP HANA is SAP even the most basic analyses. That BusinessObjects Strategic Workforce means that operational applications are Planning, version for in-memory disconnected from analytic computing, a solution developed by environments, resulting in significant lag SAP that dramatically benefits from the time between gathering data and the high performance and real-time access insight into that data. to large volumes of transactional information. Organizations also want to employ flexible analytic models when working SAP HANA Capabilities with information to uncover trends and patterns, or improve planning, SAP HANA provides direct access to forecasting and financial close operational data without affecting the processes. In traditional analytics, high performance of SAP ERP and other data volumes require making operational systems. Organizations can assumptions during modeling to reduce synchronize key transactional tables, in the data set to a manageable size. But near real-time, into memory; making simplified models don’t accurately these tables easily accessible for reflect the multifaceted nature of analysis and lookup. Once data is operational data, often resulting in available in-memory, departments can sub-optimal forecasting, planning or instantly look up individual line items trend analyses – items all critical to from massive lists like booking monitoring and reacting to business documents, sales leads or service performance.
  • 2. www.sap.com /contactsap requests – with no impact on the operational system. This streamlined modeling workflow supports direct access models for detailed line items, as well as analytic models for more complex analytic processing. SAP HANA provides a streamlined workflow from idea to analysis. The workflow covers the entire process, starting from the identification of relevant operational data (turning raw data into relevant information), to the generation of semantically grouped information in models, and finally the publishing of the completed models. The key difference of SAP HANA from traditional analytic models is the absence of any materialization – all models are purely virtual, and calculate results based on the underlying detailed operational data. The absence of materializations makes model changes very easy. SAP HANA can access any data. In scenarios where organizations require operational data from non-SAP applications or would like to expand on existing analytic models, any source of data can be used as a foundation in SAP HANA. Using the SAP BusinessObjects Data Services component, non-SAP operational data can be loaded in-memory into SAP HANA, enabling businesses to generate a complete picture for a specific business situation via a very lean process. SAP HANA adds an easy-to-use modeling experience to further increase the autonomy of business users. Using semantically enriched views that turn raw operational data into understandable relevant information, business users can autonomously create new analytic models in a web-based modeling environment. The full business intelligence capabilities of SAP BusinessObjects can directly leverage SAP HANA’s in-memory data, giving business users a complete range of insight and analysis capabilities for all high performance applications. However, if users prefer to employ Excel – or other tools and applications – for insight and analysis, they can connect to SAP HANA via standard interfaces such as MDX or SQL. SAP HANA provides standard interfaces to existing applications, operational systems or other business applications. This means that SAP HANA will not disrupt existing landscapes by connecting to existing data sources, and easily leverages investments in existing BI clients. SAP HANA provides quick benefits as a turnkey, real-time analytic solution. SAP HANA will change the way your company does business by enabling real time insight in business operations as they happen!
