• SAP HANA is an in-memory database appliance that is deployable on-premise or in the
cloud. It is a revolutionary platform that’s best suited for performing real-time
analytics - and for developing and deploying multiple powerful applications in real-
time. At the core of this real-time data platform is the SAP HANA database which is
fundamentally different to other database engines in the market today
• Whenever companies need to dive deep and wide into their data sets to answer
complex, fundamental and interactive questions - which means working in real-time
with enormous data sets that are of different types and from different sources at the
same time = then SAP HANA is well-suited to provide the answers. Increasingly there
is a need for all of this data to be distributed along an extended timeline of past
(historic), present (real-time) and future (forecast). Add to that the need for high
speed (very fast response time and true interactivity), and the need to do all this
without any pre-fabrication (no data preparation, no pre-aggregates, no-tuning) and
you have a unique combination of requirements that only SAP HANA can address
effectively. When this set of needs or any subset thereof have to be addressed (in any
combination), SAP HANA is in its elements.

• Emerging Technologies - in-memory Data Warehouse Appliances with Real-
time and Predictive Analytics Engines can now achieve so much more than
ever before.....
MODELLING RANGE DATA

• Real-time and Predictive Businesses are transforming the way that they
think, plan and operate. Based firmly on a foundation of In-Memory
Computing technology, and an extended Time dimension from Past (Historic)
through Present (Real-time) into Future (Predictive) Data - there is now a
very new paradigm for enterprise information management, which supports

the three key business reporting requirements: - Historic Reporting

• SAP AG currently enjoy 46% of the world market for Enterprise Software by sales
value - more than its principle rivals, Oracle, Microsoft and IBM combined. For the
past two years, SAP has been promoting the idea of in-memory data analysis and
management and has rolled out technology that delivers the SAP In-Memory
Appliance - originally referred to as the High performance ANalytic Appliance). Now,
nearly every major Banking and Financial Services organisation in the world uses SAP
IS/Banking finance compliance solutions somewhere in their Application Landscape
for Trading and Risk, Funds, Liquidity,, Settlements and Treasury – and Governance,
Reporting and Controls
• SAP HANA is now the cornerstone of SAP Enterprise version 6. After trialling SAP
HANA version 1, SAP Customers are now investing in SAP HANA version 2. At the
same time, SAP IS/Banking is now the clear leader and Financial Platform of choice for
meeting the strict UK and EU regulatory requirements as set out in the Financial
Services Act (2010 and 2011) for Funds, Liquidity and Risk (Capital Adequacy), Event
Risk (Wild Card / Black Swan Events – Surprises), Market Risk (Market Phenomena)
Trade Risk (Human Actions) and Fraud Risk (Rogue Trading) – and is being
implemented by all the leading Banking and Financial Services Companies.....

• The idea behind Real-time Analytics is that companies can analyse larger, more
complex and immediate datasets to inform their decision-making – on a scale that
previously would have been unimaginable to process. Analysing “Big Data” in Real-
time would, for example, allow companies to better understand market and customer
dynamics by using their own transactional data and weblogs and combining this with
news feeds, social media postings and search engine data to gain much richer and
more powerful insights into intimate customer behaviours.
• Real-time and Predictive businesses are transforming the way that they think, plan
and operate. Based on a foundation of In-Memory Computing technology, and an
extended Time dimension, there is a new paradigm for enterprise information
management, which delivers three key business advantages: -
• Breakthrough analytics that help End-user customers to analyse massive amounts of process
execution, customer and market data in real-time.
• SAP HANA applications and solutions generate information and insights in such volume and depth
- delivering previously impossible levels of business value.
• Dramatically simplified IT landscapes - reducing redundant technology layers and allowing
customers to build applications that supports simultaneous operations, planning and analytics
processing on a single platform in real-time.
