Vale!e Kasanita Adams was born on 6 October 1984. Vale!e $ a fam"s
New Zealnd %ot pu&er. She $ a women's 'ree-time World champion, two-time
Commonweal' and World Indoor champion. She currently holds ( New
Zealand, Oceanian, Commonweal' and equal World Champion%ip records wi'
a personal best 'row of 21.24 metres. Vale!e Adams grew up in Rotorua, New
Zealand wi' her Tongan mo'er (Lilika Ngauamo), Engl$h fa'er (Sydney
Adams) and her bro'er Steven Adams who $ currently a Basketballer. Vale!e
Adams was mar!ed to Be+rand Villi but 'en had ,vorced him early in 2010.
3. Career Beginnings
She fir. began competing in %ot pu& at 14 years of
a/, a0er taking pa+ in a school competition and
being seen by K!.en Hellier who 'en later became
her coach for he next eleven years.

•In 1999 Vale!e competed in her fir. World Y"' Champion%ip,
fin$hing ten' plac1
•Two years later in 221, Vale!e won ( World Y"'
Champion%ips 'at were held in Hungary wi' a 'row of 17.73 m.
•A year later, %e came fir. in ( World Junior Track and Field
Champion%ips in King.on, Jamaica and had 'en went on to win
silver at ( Manchester Commonweal' Games. (3rew 17.45 m)
5. •In 224, Vale!e went on to compete in her very fir. Olympic Games 'at
were held in A'ens. Vale!e had come nin' place in ( games but 'en got
br"ght up to eigh' place due to one of ( final$ts who had failed a 4ug test.
• 3e following year in December, Vale!e had broke Vale!e Y"ng's New
Zealand record of 17.26 m. Vale!e 'rew 19.29m, becoming ( fir. New
Zealand women to break ( 19 m bar!er.
•In January 225, Vale!e Adams was named A'lete of ( Year by A'letics
New Zealand. Also on 'at same year, %e was nominated for ( Halberg
Spo+woman of ( Year Award.
6. •3e following year, Vale!e earned a place in ( international elite, winning a
bronze medal at ( World Champion%ips wi' a personal best 'row of 19.87 m,
and going on to fin$h second at ( World A'letics Final. At ( 226
Commonweal' Games! Vale!e had won a gold medal, breaking ( 20-year-old
Commonweal' Games record of 19.2 m wi' a 'row of 19.66 m.
•In 228 Adams broke ( Oceania record in winning her fir. World Indoor Title
in Valencia (20.19 m). At ( Beijing Olympics, %e made it for ( finals
wi' ( lon/. ,.ance 'ro5, 19.73 meters, on her fir. 'row. She won (
gold wi' a 'row of 20.56 m,beating Belarussian 'rower Natallia Mikhnevich.
Later on ( year, %e also won ( New Zealand Spo+s Award of ( year.
7. •In 229 Vale!e had set ano'er Oceania record when
%e was competing in Brazil wi' a 'row of 20.69.
•Vale!e had won ( Halberg Award for 'ird time in

•A year later Vale!e Adams was defeated in (
World Indoor Champion%ip and won silver.

equalling ( champion%ip record 21.24 met by Natalya
