2. Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Lavrentyeva was born
26 of June 1981 in Kandalaksha. She is a
Russian natural track luger, who has competed
since the late 1990s. She is the triple champion
of Europe and the quadruple world champion,
the most successful representative of Russia in
natural track luge.
3. Her childhood friend invited her to go in for luging.
By the age of 18 Ekaterina has been training hard
in her native town of Kandalaksha, and she
became the double world champion among juniors.
She debuted in 2000 in the World Cup and achieved
victory. In 2001 for the first time she won in the
World Cup in natural track luge. She won in two
World Cup series, being placed second in one of
them and coming third twice during the Cup.
At the Moscow series which took place in February
10-11, 2001 on Vorobyovy Gory, Ekaterina made a
bid for victory, beating the titled Italian athlete
Sonia Shtayneher. At the last series in the Austrian
Hüttau, Ekaterina got the victory after several
mistakes made by her competitor. Thus, Ekaterina
became the youngest champion and winner of the
World Cup in naturbahn. Since 2001, she is the
undisputed leader of the Russian team.

6. Lavrentyeva Ekaterina is the strongest natural
track luger not only in Russia, but in the world.
Ekaterina has is an Honored Master of Sports of
Russia. She goes in for luging for 21 years.
In the national natural track luge team Ekaterina
is very sociable, sympathetic, she is always ready
to help to young sportsmen.
Ekaterina speaks German perfectly.
