2. Teen Thriller films are similar to general teen films,
as they are both targeted to teenagers, and may
have a school element of being based in a high
school, or including high school students.
However, teen thrillers are different that they
contain horror and thriller aspects, which scare the
audience.
3. Most teen thriller trailers have many
jump scares. This is to obviously scare
the audience, and give them a fright,
which is the main purpose of thriller
trailers, as they are supposed to scare
the audience and get their heart beating
faster and faster.
4. Nearly all teen thriller trailers show distorted writing which is in the film.
Distorted writing can mean many things, but in a thriller film, it could either
be the writing of the antagonist warning people of how dangerous he or she
could be.
By seeing distorted writing, the audience may feel quite afraid as it could
spook them out the way the letters are written, and how sharply it may have
been written.
Moreover, some teen thriller films may have the distorted writing written in
blood. This could scare the audience even more, as in the film actual blood
would have been used to write it, which could get the audience thinking of
whose blood in the film was used to write whatever is written.
5. It is quite rare to see a teen thriller not use
special effects, as they could be used to
make things happen that could frighten the
audience, and make them believe the
unbelievable.
A special effect that could and has been
used in teen thrillers is the moving of a
chair by a supernatural creature, or simply
a ghost. The use of this special effect
makes the trailer more believable and the
story more convincing. As without special
effects, not much can be done, and the full
power of the antagonist cannot be seen.
Therefore, the antagonist may not look as
powerful, and may not terrify the audience
at all. This could result in the film being
boring, as it is not scary or realistic enough.
6. The majority of teen thrillers use teenagers and high school students.
This is to make the film more appealing as it includes characters the
same age as the target audience. Additionally, teenagers will be able
to relate to the film and characters, as they are the same age. If the
audience, and in this case the teenagers are able to relate to the film
and it’s characters, then the trailer can be more realistic and
teenagers may be more into it. As a result, these teenagers may want
to watch the film as it is targeted to them.
