We will choose 12 leaders at random. Once the leaders are chosen they will choose their team of 4. Each group will get a small stick of modeling clay and 12 toothpicks. Their task is to build the longest self supporting bridge. Points will be awarded for length of the bridge and ability to stand without tipping over. They will recieve a time limit of 10 minutes to construct their bridges.
The catch is all teams can only do what the leaders instruct them to do.
-leadership style is a very important factor in performance.
-What were some strategies when constructing your bridge?
-As the leader, How did you decide to assign specific tasks or roles to each individual?
-As the leader, Did luck contribute to the success of your group? Level 5 leaders contribute success to both luck and to the people around them
-As the leader, Do you blame your teammates for the loss? - Level 5 leaders look at themselves when assessing their loss.
-What were some of the factors that made your team leader a good leader?

According to Collins, one of the key factors that differentiates a Level 5 leader of a great company from other key executives from companies who may be good but did not make the grade as great is personal humility. These people credit others for their company’s success and blame themselves for small bumps along the road to greatness.
