shows median salaries in September and December
2013 for advertised vacancies, and the annualised
percentage change.
Community Services salaries increased 13.2% while
Mining jobs fell 14.4%, Education jobs fell 20.5% and
Healthcare & Medical jobs fell 2.4%.
SEEK SALARY SNAPSHOT
The Wage Price Index in WA fell from an annual average
of 4.8% in June 2012 to 3.4% in June 2013. The national
average dropped to 2.9% from 3.7% the previous year. 1

The trend line for the Wage Price Index for selected industries is down,
with marked reductions in mining and other industries. The health care
and social assistance sector bucked the trend with 3.4% increase over

•	 The	forecast	for	the	next	6	m
onths	is	for	annual	pay	increases	in	the	range	2.5%	to	3.0%.	
•	 CPI	for	Perth	and	nationally	has	been	in	the	range	2.1%	to	3.0%	for	the	past	4	years.
•	 Average	full	time	wages	in	WA	continue	to	trend	10%	-	15%	above	the		
national	average.	After	a	strong	increase	in	the	wage	price	index	in	2012,	selected	
industries	all	recorded	under	3.5%	growth	in	the	year	to	June	2013.
•	 Median	salaries	for	advertised	vacancies	on	SEEK	between	Septem
ber	and	December	
2013	increased	for	Com
munity	Services,	Adm
inistration	and	Accounting;	but	fell	for	
Mining,	Engineering,	Education	and	Customer	Service.
•	 Enterprise	agreements	in	the	health	and	comm
unity	services	sector	in	2013	were	in	the	
range	3.0%	to	4.0%.	In	at	least	one	case,	the	increase	was	higher	to	meet	the	
Equal	Remuneration	Order.

After a strong increase in the wage price index in 2012, selected industries all recorded under 3.5% growth in the year to June 2013. • Median salaries for advertised vacancies on SEEK between Septem ber and December 2013 increased for Com munity Services, Adm inistration and Accounting; but fell for Mining, Engineering, Education and Customer Service. • Enterprise agreements in the health and comm unity services sector in 2013 were in the range 3.0% to 4.0%. In at least one case, the increase was higher to meet the Equal Remuneration Order.
