VALUE
24. Are work values
important?
Work values matter whether you are an employee or an employer.
When your work aligns with your values, it can help you find meaning
in what you do daily at your job. Your career can have a deeper
meaning than just putting money in your bank account.
Upholding workplace values can also help an employee further their
career.
28. Employees whose work feels
meaningful work longer weeks
and are absent less
Highly meaningful work
motivates employees to work an
extra hour per week, and to take
two fewer days paid leave
per year.
30. Raises and promotions are also more common for people who value
their work. This makes sense. It is easier to stay motivated and
perform at a higher level when you find meaning in what you do.
Additionally, employees whose value systems align strongly with
company leadership report higher job satisfaction than employees
who feel misaligned.
The opposite is also true. BetterUp’s study on meaning and purpose at
work found that in toxic workplaces, the rate of meaningful work for
employees falls by 24% when compared to workplaces with low
toxicity.
31. “More than ever, people are on the hunt for meaning and that
includes at work, where more and more of our time is spent.
To attract and retain top talent, and achieve optimal
productivity, companies must build greater meaning into the
workplace,” says Alexi Robichaux, Co-Founder and CEO of
BetterUp.
32. But that’s not all. Work values
determine the culture of your
workplace, and a healthy culture
helps you and your colleagues
adapt to change.
35. 2. Dependability and Responsibility
Employers value employees who come to work
on time, are there when they are supposed to be,
and are responsible for their actions and
behavior.
3. Possessing a Positive Attitude
A positive attitude gets the work done and motivates
others to do the same without dwelling on the
challenges that inevitably come up in any job.
36. 4. Adaptability
Employers seek employees who are adaptable
and maintain flexibility in completing tasks in an
ever-changing workplace.
5. Honesty and Integrity
Employers value employees who maintain a sense
of honesty and integrity above all else. Good
relationships are built on trust. When working
for an employer, they want to know that they
can trust what you say and what you do.
37. 6. Self-
Motivated
7. Motivated to Grow and Learn
Employers look for employees who require little
supervision and direction to get the work done in a
timely and professional manner.
In an ever-changing workplace, employers seek
employees who are interested in keeping up with
new developments and knowledge in the field.
38. 8. Strong Self-
Confidence
9. Professionalism
Self-confidence has been recognized as the key
ingredient between someone who is successful
and someone who is not. A self-confident person
is someone who inspires others. A self-confident
person is not afraid to ask questions on topics
where they feel they need more knowledge.
Employers value employees who always exhibit
professional behavior. Professional behavior includes
learning every aspect of a job and doing it to the best o
one’s ability. Professionals' complete projects as soon
as possible and avoid letting uncompleted projects pi
up.
39. 10. Loyalty
Employers value employees they can trust and
who exhibit their loyalty to the company.
Companies offering employee growth and
opportunity will ultimately gain a sense of
loyalty from their employees. Employees today
want to feel a sense of satisfaction in their
jobs and will do a good job when they feel that
the employer is fair and wants to see them
succeed.
40. In addition, let us always
remember that our work is a
gift from God. It is the source
of our livelihood and a source
of BLESSING to others.
MAY WE BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS.
45. GENDER
EQUALITY AT THE
WORKPLACE.
Gender equality is not only a fundamental human
right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful,
prosperous and sustainable world.
