This document is a project abstract that describes a study investigating the role of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) inhibition in elevating the efficacy of temozolomide (TMZ) in treating glioblastoma. The hypothesis is that inhibiting ALDH, which is associated with cancer stem cells and chemotherapy resistance, can improve TMZ treatment outcomes. The methods describe using diethylaminobenzaldehyde (DEAB) to inhibit ALDH activity in glioblastoma cell lines and tumors while treating with TMZ. Preliminary results show that DEAB combined with TMZ significantly reduced tumor growth compared to either treatment alone. The conclusions state that ALDH inhibition elevates TMZ efficacy.
