“An information system (IS) is a formalized computer
 information system that can collect, store, process
and report data from various sources to provide the
   information necessary for managerial decision
               making.”(Hicks 1993)

• Using an MIS, an organization is able to establish its
  hierarchical structure and work-flow charts. Every employee
  in the organization knows the employees he has authority
  over and to whom he is responsible for work.
• The company’s operating and procedures are listed by an
  MIS. The preparation of audits also gets simplified.

            Finance
• Management Information Systems (MIS) in Finance have been
  widely adopted both by corporations as well as governments.
• They are information systems with capacity to maintain large
  data bases enabling organizations to store, organize and
  access financial information easily.
• These systems are primarily used for accounting operations
  and generation of financial reports.. Increasingly they are also
  used to support budgetary, planning and decision making
  processes.

  like attendance recording and payroll calculations.

  organization. So most of the organizations are adopting

• Managing marketing information by means of IT has become
  one of the most vital elements of effective marketing.
• By collecting and sharing marketing information and by using
  it to promote corporate and brand image.
• Information systems allow dynamic marketing communication
  between personnel in corporate planning, accounting,

  channels of distribution and direct sales.
