Takeoff	distance	300	meters	Prandtl-D	aircraJ	24.-meter	wingspan	
is	a	modern	uElity	transport	aircraC	and	is	designed	to	be	the	airborne	equivalent	of	the	
ubiquitous	white	vans	seen	on	roads	around	the	world.	The	design	spec	is	therefore	
simplicity	and	robustness.	Single	pilot	operaEon	with	provision	for	pilotless	ops	when	
regulaEons	allow	(freight	only).	Simple	to	fly,	simple	to	maintain,	simple	to	build	and	simple	
to	operate	
Ø  The	tailless	configuraEon	was	chosen	to	deliver	on	the	simplicity.	The	large	wing	area	
ensures	low	take-off	and	landing	distances	without	the	need	for	large	and	powerful	high	
liC	systems.	It	also	frees	up	the	aC	fuselage	for	a	large	clamshell	door,	the	lower	part	of	
which	forms	a	loading	ramp,	while	the	upper	part	hinges	completely	out	of	the	way	for	
loading	of	large	cargo	items.	The	nose	secEon	also	hinges	for	end-to-end	loading.	
Ø  The	cross	secEon	of	the	fuselage	is	the	same	as	an	ISO	container,	so	standard	palleEsed	
cargo	can	be	efficiently	loaded.	The	structure	of	the	fuselage	is	a	carbon	fibre	shell	for	
strength,	light	weight	and	corrosion	resistance,	allowing	for	carefree	cargo	handling.	The	
load	bearing	structure	will	be	a	carbon	fibre	sandwich,	which	will	be	made	in	a	single	large	
mould	and	will	reduce	parts	count	by	90%	compared	with	similar	sized	aircraC,	which	will	
aid	in	reducing	maintenance	and	inspecEon	to	almost	zero	as	well	as	reducing	
manufacturing/assembly	Eme	in	producEon.	
Ø  	The	simplicity	of	the	design	will	allow	aircraC	producEon	to	be	licenced	to	manufacturers	
all	around	the	world	and	it	promises	to	be	the	airborne	version	of	the	Toyota	pickup	or	
minibus.
