Persuasive Essay on Abortion
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is 100%
wrong and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; "The termination of
pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable
of normal growth." These pro–life believers do not support the idea of abortion and believe it should
be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be
performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staff. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every
year because of unsafe abortions. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro–life is
contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro–choice. Pro–choice...show more content...
The choice of her keeping the child would result in her getting kicked out of her home, she'd be
finically unable to support the baby, and she would lose her education. With abortion she would not
have to deal with these issues, though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding
to terminate the pregnancy. Pro–choice supports the idea she would learn from her mistake and that
ultimately it was her choice to do what she wished with her body. Even though these "Pro Life
supporters" think giving up your child for adoption is a better choice than an abortion, but those
children would be forced to live in an unfit foster home till they age out of the system. After they
turn 18 they are out on the streets what makes the women who would rather just have an abortion
have to think about when they know their child is in a foster home and probably no better off
than where they would be if she would have just kept it? You have to deal with the emotional
circumstances after an abortion for a while but you have to deal with not knowing what the child
you gave up has to go through on a daily basis everyday of your life is a lot harder than the
emotional toll of an abortion Even though many people practice pro–life because of their religion, it
may be surprising to learn that catholic women are 29% more likely to get an abortion than
Protestant women, though they are as likely as all women to do

persuade audience to rethink the legalization of abortion.
Importance to Audience: is abortion murder? Is a fetus a human ? Yes. This speech is to convince
the audience that in fact it is murder.

Sub point: Unborn babies are separate, and unique. From the moment of fertilization – better known
as conception we would do better to understand the modern science that unveils the humanity of the

1. A fetus comes from human parents. 2. The development of a human being begins with
fertilization, when the spermatozoon from the male and the oocyte from the female, come together
to form the zygote. II. Second Main Point: It violates civil rights. A. Sub point: the Civil rights

Introduction/ Opinion
In this paper I will be arguing about the topic that the government is intervening too much with
abortion and it is the woman 's choice. In my opinion, I think that it is the woman 's choice to have
an abortion if she chooses. In addition to that I don 't believe that a woman should just keep having
abortions over and over again because after the first time they should think of preventing it better
with birth control or just not having intercourse. After the first abortion, I think that it should be
slightly harder to get another one unless there is good reasoning such as rape or they wouldn 't be
able to physically go through giving birth.

Wade and adopted a less restrictive standard for state regulations. The decision allowed states to
impose waiting periods before a woman can obtain an abortion, allowed some legislative interference
in the first trimester in the interests ' of a woman 's health, and permitted parental consent
requirements for minors seeking abortions. [107]The Court ruled that none of these conditions
imposed an "undue burden" upon women seeking abortions, but some pro–choice advocates warned
that Roe v. Wadehad been significantly weakened and that states would limit abortion access.

On Nov. 5, 2003, after passing in the US House of Representatives (281–142) and the US Senate
(64–34), the Partial–Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 [58] was signed into law by President George
W. Bush. This federal legislation banned physicians from providing intact dilation and extraction
(aka "partial–birth" abortion), a late–term (after 21 weeks gestation) method which accounted for
0.17% of abortion procedures in 2000. [43] The act defines a "partial–birth abortion" as "an abortion
in which the provider deliberately and intentionally vaginally delivers a living fetus until... the
entire fetal head is outside the body of the mother, or... any part of the fetal trunk past the navel is
outside the body of the mother, for the purpose of performing an overt act that the person knows
will kill the partially delivered living fetus." Pro–choice advocates challenged the

The topic on debating about abortion has been one of the biggest controversies there has been in
human history. There are many people in this planet that believe that it is very immoral and even
consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is, "When a pregnancy ends abruptly, either
voluntarily or involuntarily, and the fetus is expelled from the womb before it can live on its
own. There are many ways you can see things in life, every human being has a different type of
perspective. The way we see things in life and how we feel about them are completely different for
all of us. Now in the case of pro–life believers, they do not support the idea of having an induced
abortion and truly believe it should be illegal. There are many supporters that do not know that if
abortion were to be illegal they would still be performed, sadly by uneducated staffs. There are over
80 thousand maternal deaths that occur almost every year because of unsafe abortions.
The idea of women having the choice to do what she pleases with her own body and support the
right to privacy is a pro–choice belief. A great example could be, when a woman is raped by a man
and becomes pregnant with his child, she then decides she does not want to keep the baby, she
now has an abortion because the idea of raising a child from a man that raped her is a very painful
thing to cope with all her life. Many pro–choice defenders take sympathies to this woman while in
the other hand she then gets called a

We all know what an abortion is, or at least the basics of what it is. We also know that abortion is
a highly controversial topic. However, many people don't know what actually happens during an
abortion, or the effects it can have. There are so many things to consider, and we don't think about
everything. We just think about if a pregnant woman doesn't want to have a baby for whatever the
reason is, and then she shouldn't be forced to. However, that's not all there is to it and abortions
should be illegal because regardless the reason, the situation doesn't effect the fact that you are
taking a babies life, even if they are still in a womb.
What are in–clinic abortions? An in–clinic abortion is a procedure performed by using suction to take
a pregnancy out of your uterus. There are a few different kinds of in–clinic abortion procedures.
They decide which one to use by determining which procedure will be best for the mother. Some
people get abortion pills and it causes you to have the abortion at home. The pill takes about 24
hours to complete, while in–clinic abortions take between 5–10 minutes to complete. Suction
abortion is the most common type of abortion. It uses suction to empty the uterus, it is usually done
between 14–16 weeks. Dilation and evacuation is another kind of abortion procedure. It uses suction
as well but it also uses medical tools to empty the uterus. Dilation and evacuation is usually
performed after 16 weeks. ("Planned Parenthood") How late you can

Pro–Life is the way to go Though the Supreme Court voted pro–choice in the 1973 court case of Roe
v. Wade, abortion still remains a hot topic among the American population and political parties. The
case was based on an argument on the 14th amendment: right to privacy, that made it the woman's
decision to have an abortion. This amendment, however does not protect the liberty and privacy of
the fetus, meaning, the child does not receive his or her inalienable rights until after birth. Ever since
Roe v. Wadewas enabled, there has been a strict division within the United States between the
pro–life, and pro–choice believers. The idea of pro–choice negates the 5th amendment rights to life
and liberty. What does it say about the right to kill in the constitution? Nothing. Surgically aborting
an unborn child is unethical, cruel, selfish, and most importantly, it's murder. Abortion V.
Miscarriage As of today, there are two types of abortions; spontaneous abortion and surgical abortion.
A spontaneous abortion–otherwise known as a miscarriage–is the involuntary type of abortion. It is
defined as a non induced fetal death, before 20 weeks gestation. There are a number of causes of
spontaneous abortions, such as chromosomal or genetic abnormalities, malformations of the body or
the unhealthy diet of the mother such as alcohol or drug use. This type of abortion occurs between
10 to 15 percent of all pregnancies among American women (Dulay, A. T. 2017). As for surgical
abortion, a procedure performed in order to remove the unborn child and placenta from the mother's
uterus. Unlike the spontaneous abortion, this type of abortion does not end on its own. "Surgical
abortions involve dilating the opening to the uterus (cervix) and placing a small suction tube into the
uterus. Suction is used to remove the fetus and related pregnancy material from the uterus
(Jacobson, J 2016)." It is so sickening that these lives taken in such a disgusting way. The baby's
limbs are literally being torn apart in this procedure. I can't imagine the pain the child must be in!
So many people hope and wish to someday carry a child of their own and there are mothers out there
who don't want the child they made. In fact, according

What type of society do we live in? One that approves the killing of an innocent baby before it's
even born? That's what abortion is, and it's approved in almost every country. Abortion is a
procedure that deliberately removes a baby from the mother womb which is usually performed in
the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. In the United States, nearly 40% of all babies are aborted. While
many people say abortion is a viable method to stop pregnancy, abortion is killing an innocent unborn
human and that is undeniably murder. It has to be stopped.
While many argue that abortion is needed in cases of an unwanted pregnancy, there are other
methods that can be used to stop the pregnancy before it starts. For instance, birth control and the

A study at The University of Colorado shows "Within 8 weeks after their abortions, 55%
expressed guilt, 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances,
31% had regrets about their decision, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their
family doctor." (Ashton). This proves that most mothers feel an emotional effect after abortion. Who
really wants to put up with the possibilities of all these problems? It's just adding on to the problems
women face every day.
Though religious text can be interpreted differently most religions strictly prohibit abortion. Some
religions that prohibit abortion are Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Mormonism, and Baptist. Some
proof of this comes from the bible of the Christian Religion. In Psalm 139: 13–16 it says "13 For you
created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that
full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven
together in the depths of the earth.

one of them came to be." "A Rig Vedic hymn [7.36.9, RvP, 2469] begs for protection of

How would you feel if someone took your life away? Think about it like this, you didn't do
anything wrong and all you wanted to do was live. But someone decided that it would be better for
their sake that you die. Unborn babies don't have a choice whether they live or die when they're in
the womb. Fifty–six million abortions are performed world–wide each year, with thity million of
them are in evolving countries. Abortion should be illegal with the exception of rape victims and
if the mother is on the verge of losing her life. In 1971 a pregnant, single, Texas woman by the

Some of the alternatives include to parent, Interim Foster Care or adoption. Even though
parenting is challenging for some, at the end it is very rewarding. If someone decides to become
a parent, they have options of getting married, joint custody, custody with visitation rights or full
custody. Interim Forster Care gives the mother more time to decide if she wants to keep her child
or give it to an actual foster care home. The Interim Foster Care can last from a few hours or
several months. This decision can sometimes give the mom time to meet and get to know the
foster parents better and decide if they are a better fit to raise the child. Sometimes the father of
the child will file for custody or another family member may decide to file for full custody of the
child. While the cases are pending, the child will stay in the Interim Foster Care. Foster Care is very
safe and dependable. Adoption is when the parent gives full legal custody and responsibility to
another adult or adults. At times adoptions are done with an agency or without an agency. Adoption
agencies and adopting parents use attorneys to find each other. An open adoption allows the mother
write an adoption plan. Thereafter, the adoption parents decide if they will want the birth mother to
have contact with the child. A closed adoption is where the mother has no contact with the birth

Abortion Discussion (Pro–Choice)
Do you believe abortion should be legal?
As a woman who has experienced the horrific tragedy of rape and all of the trauma that comes with
it, I personally find a woman's right to have a say in her own reproductive rights to be of the utmost
importance. Ever since the landmark Supreme Court case Roe v. Wadewas decided in January of
1973, abortion has been deemed a fundamental right for women. Additionally, a woman's right to
access legal, safe, and professionally–performed abortions severely reduces the risk of death and
bodily harm associated with less safe, unlawful abortions. Lastly, studies performed via peer review
in 2013 found that women who denied abortions were more likely to suffer from mental health
problems when compared to women who carried out the procedure. Furthermore, only 1 in 20
women who received abortions felt that they did not make the right choice in doing so. In other
words, in order to ensure the health of women, both physical and mental, in the United States, it is
vital that safe avenues for abortion remain available to the general public.
Does the Life of a Human Being Begin at Conception?
Human life most certainly does not begin at conception for a variety of reasons ranging from
medical to biological to legal. First of all, when we speak of how long a person has been alive we
commonly refer to their age. A number which represents how long it has been since they were born,
not conceived. Additionally, personhood only begins after a fetus has the ability to survive on its
own outside the womb, a term that is commonly referred to as viability. At the moment of
conception through up to 26 weeks into the pregnancy a fetus is not even capable of feeling pain,
according to Britain's Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. This aforementioned fact
has to do with the lack of a developed cortex in the said fetus. Furthermore, documents such as the
United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights fail to recognize fetuses
as living beings as they use words such as "born" to classify those whose rights the documents
encompass. Lastly, to suggest that a zygote, a diploid fertilized ovum that is formed at the time of

77% of anti–abortion advocates are men, 100% of them will never have to make the choice of
whether or not to have an abortion. Why do men have the right to say things and are allowed to
input their opinion about abortions when the majority of them won't ever get an abortion or have to
decide if they are ready to take care of an unexpected child. There are many reasons that women
choose to have an abortion, and the decision is often never made hastily or without thought. There
are often circumstances that make an abortion a very reasonable decision, and it's not always about a
mistaken pregnancy. In cases of rape woman should be able to abort free of judgement. If the
mother's health is affected than she should be able to make the choice without someone
criticizing her. When teen pregnancies occur the mother shouldn't have to be bullied because of
a simple mistake that thousands of other people make every year. Women should not have to ask
for permission to do what she deems necessary for her OWN body. Women should have an option
to have an abortion if they feel it's necessary especially in cases of rape, when it affects their
overall health and/or well being and when teen pregnancies occur. In cases of rape, women should
be able to get an abortion because in many cases it is a daily reminder of the constant trauma they
had to go through. Most people will agree in the case of rape that an abortion is the most common
outcome. They are right. To the people who

Many individuals fail to understand the sheer magnitude of bloodshed, tribulation, and despair
legalized abortion has initiated into the human experience – both in the United States and
worldwide. Far more human lives have been violently ended by this immoral decision than any
other war or genocide in history. It is one of the most controversial issues in today's society.Abortion
is the intentional decision to murder a human fetus by chemical, medical or surgical procedures.
Those who support the rights of abortion argue that women should be able to decide what can be
done to their bodies, yet the unborn baby inside a woman is a living being, and terminating that
pregnancy is the equivalent of murder. These innocent children should not be held responsible for
your mistakes. Don't terminate pregnancy now, because you may not have children in the future at
all. To commence with, during development a human being grows at an astonishingly rapid pace.
According to Guttmacher Institute, "89% of all abortions in the United States are performed in the
first trimester of pregnancy." (2005). In the first trimester (16 weeks), the baby's eyes and eyelids,
nose, mouth, and tongue have formed, and the baby's reproductive organs also develop. The
cardiovascular system is the first system that begins to function. The baby's heart begins to circulate
their own blood, similar to his mother's heart, twenty–two days after conception. Electrical brain

Thesis: If women had the necessary information and means to carry out full–term pregnancies, raise
their children in safe comfortable environments, and have safe abortions, then the controversy over
abortion would cease. The solutions to reducing abortion, or at least making it safer for women, are
better leadership in Congress and commitment to women's health, providing up–to–date sex
education along with supporting pregnancy assistance programs.
"No matter what our views, we are united in our determination to prevent unintended pregnancies,
reduce the need for abortion, and support women and families in the choices they make. To
accomplish these goals, we must work to find common ground to expand access to affordable
contraception, accurate health information, and preventative services." (Montopoli)
Women with low income in the US have been at the mercy of this corrupt government since
abortion has been legally recognized. The solution to decrease abortions should not reflect
increasing the cost of unnecessary clinic regulations along with making waiting periods a
requirement, while decreasing the number of doctors available for abortions. This only results in
grave injuries and infertility from unsafe at home abortions. Public funding and assistant programs
should no longer be a "privilege" to women who want abortions. It should be a automatic given, like

Abortion or the termination of pregnancy has been practiced since ancient times. This has always
and still to this day is a subject widely debated. If you go to any search engine and type in abortion,
it brings up hundreds of abortion clinics near your location. This is a discussion of the pro–life and
pro–choice philosophies regarding abortion
I believe that a woman should have the choice to do what she wants with her body but at the same
time act responsibly. There are many different reasons that lead some women to have an abortion.
From the outside looking in we can always give our opinion, but you never really know what that
person is going through or thinking. In 2011, approximately 1.06 million abortions took place in
the U.S., down from an estimated 1.21 million abortions in 2008.According to the CDC unmarried
women account for 85% of those that have abortions. Most of these women are in their early
twenties, on Medicaid, and African American. The U.S. Congress has barred the use of federal
Medicaid funds to pay for abortions, except when the woman's life would be endangered by a

adopt that there is no such thing as an unwanted child. I agree and disagree with pro–lifers. There are
children out there that are in foster care for years and never get adopted .so why should you
continue to put more children in this position? I think that calling abortion murder is a bit extreme,

The abortion debate is still alive today and branches out all over the world, from developing
countries that have improper medical care to the most developed countries where everyone is well
off and provided everything they need and want. In an academic journal, known as "Abortion
Debate," these issues are expressed. It's already been established that laws on abortion are different
all over the world. In some places, like Northern Ireland, abortion is illegal unless the woman in
question is in danger for being pregnant. Then, in places like Greece, there are no restrictions on
abortions as long as it's a set number of weeks gestation. In Greece, this number is up to twelve
weeks. After that abortion is not an option. While abortion is available in Western Europe, the
rate is lower than that in Africa, where it is illegal. In places like this, women are forced to go
under illegal procedures to abort their unborn child. For this reason, many believe that abortion
needs to be legal to provide safe procedures for those seeking one. Now on to America; many U.S.
citizens think abortion, while legal, needs restrictions. Those restrictions varying from health
reasons to how many weeks of gestation a woman can be up to. 26% of Americans want abortion to
be legal no matter the reason. 56% think there need to be restrictions. Then 17% believe abortion
needs to be illegal. These 17% have used many tactics to stop abortion, one of those ways being

"And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to

someone murders a pregnant woman and both her and the baby dies then it is considered a double
homicide. This shows the unborn baby in the womb is legally classified as a life. Ronald Reagan
said, "I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born." I strongly believe this
statement to be true. Many people don't think twice about aborting a baby they just don't want
their lifestyle to be hindered so without really thinking about the pain and suffering that baby is
going to go through they decide to end its life. In a short abortion documentary video Jim Boyd, a

Most people don't know the pros and cons of abortion? Abortion is what a female does for various
reasons, but many times for all the wrong reasons. There is multiple different ways females could go
to rather than to just choose the worst way. Even though some people think abortion is right at
certain times, abortion is wrong and surrogate should be used, because there is no reason to kill a
child that hasn't had the right to live yet. Abortion should never be the first option once getting
pregnant. Some people say they are against abortion, but would accept abortion if it was rape.
"Law & Order special victim unit" states that a women can't become pregnant after rape because
their body has a instinct to make their body reject the action and the eggs to be fertilized.(Law &
Order SVU) Even though females claim rape on many cases if they become pregnant doctors have
proven that the person had to of enjoyed some part of the sexual contact. People also get abortion for
ignorant reasons that should never be legal to do. Females use excuses how they aren't ready to have
a baby yet, but they use other excuses as in they don't want to ruin their body, or their relationships
with people close to them. Furthermore they get an abortion so they don't have to deal with it.
"Women always loth to talk about the more visceral elements of female reproductive physicality are
too ashamed, or unconfident in their reception, to discuss their terminations, even with friends or
partners. This brings about the curious circumstance that, while pretty much everyone must have
someone dear to them who has had an abortion, the chances of them actually discussing it with them
are remote. Most women don't tell friends family or their spouse about getting abortions
normally."(Caitlin, M, n/d .Therefore it is usually not nobody but the mother's decision to get the
abortion. Although most people would think relatives close to them would know about something
major like this, they usually don't. A option instead of abortion is a surrogate mother and/or
adoption, there's so many women on this earth that cannot conceive children for different reason, but
would love to have children. The only bad thing about surrogate is how

Persuasive Essay About Abortion
There is really nothing more practical than the real world expressions of worldview. What people
believe is in the core of their being and will be expressed accuratly, and blatantly, in everyday life.
It determines the way we think and the way we act. So as we sit and think of the many world views
and make our own decisions on what we think, I want to bring up abortion. Abortions have been
happening since the time the Constitution was adopted, abortions before "quickening" were
openly advertised and commonly performed. Many believe it is your choice to kill a baby in the
womb and others are against it. Where do I stand? I believe that a child has life at conception. So if a
they take a childs life in the womb it is considered murder. Abortion is wrong and should be illegal.
When we think about abortion, there are normally three questions that cross each persons mind. We
need to understand: When does life start?, Who has the right to end another's life?, and What is the
value of human life?. The first question has brought a lot of divison in our society. There is now a
pretty strong consensus in the scientific community that life begins when a sperm and ovum come
together. At that point, a new individual is created which is unique from its mother. But than there is
the other side of the argument that it is the mothers choice. It is their own need and desire to think
about that they put first instead of putting the babys life before theirs. The second answer is no one

Persuasive Abortion Essays

  • 1. Persuasive Essay on Abortion Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is 100% wrong and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; "The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth." These pro–life believers do not support the idea of abortion and believe it should be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staff. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every year because of unsafe abortions. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro–life is contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro–choice. Pro–choice...show more content... The choice of her keeping the child would result in her getting kicked out of her home, she'd be finically unable to support the baby, and she would lose her education. With abortion she would not have to deal with these issues, though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding to terminate the pregnancy. Pro–choice supports the idea she would learn from her mistake and that ultimately it was her choice to do what she wished with her body. Even though these "Pro Life supporters" think giving up your child for adoption is a better choice than an abortion, but those children would be forced to live in an unfit foster home till they age out of the system. After they turn 18 they are out on the streets what makes the women who would rather just have an abortion have to think about when they know their child is in a foster home and probably no better off than where they would be if she would have just kept it? You have to deal with the emotional circumstances after an abortion for a while but you have to deal with not knowing what the child you gave up has to go through on a daily basis everyday of your life is a lot harder than the emotional toll of an abortion Even though many people practice pro–life because of their religion, it may be surprising to learn that catholic women are 29% more likely to get an abortion than Protestant women, though they are as likely as all women to do Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Speech Outline On Abortion Attention Getter: Since legalized in 1973, around 56 million children/fetuses have been legally aborted, more than the population of Spain. That's approximately 155 babies per hour and 1 every 24 seconds. Purpose: To inform my audience about the cons of abortion and how science supports the facts and persuade audience to rethink the legalization of abortion. Importance to Audience: is abortion murder? Is a fetus a human ? Yes. This speech is to convince the audience that in fact it is murder. Thesis Statement: The cons of abortion and why it shouldn't abortion be legal in America. BODY I. First Main Point. It compounds tragedy and takes innocent lives A.Amalgam of Tragedies Sub point: Perhaps the woman was raped, the baby diagnosed with a defect Or the mother's health at risk these are considered legitimate reason for abortion. However, one tragedy is not fixed with another you ,can not cure a baby by taking its life. And we wont be able to avoid health issues by ending the life of a human being....show more content... Takes innocent lives. Why a fetus is human. Sub point: Unborn babies are separate, and unique. From the moment of fertilization – better known as conception we would do better to understand the modern science that unveils the humanity of the fetus . 1. A fetus comes from human parents. 2. The development of a human being begins with fertilization, when the spermatozoon from the male and the oocyte from the female, come together to form the zygote. II. Second Main Point: It violates civil rights. A. Sub point: the Civil rights giving to each human are violated when people are deprived of their following basic rights that cant be taking away life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness . III. Third Main Point: It can harm women A. Sub point: Harm comes in the form mental, emotional and physical – and sometimes lives are lost because of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Abortion Introduction/ Opinion In this paper I will be arguing about the topic that the government is intervening too much with abortion and it is the woman 's choice. In my opinion, I think that it is the woman 's choice to have an abortion if she chooses. In addition to that I don 't believe that a woman should just keep having abortions over and over again because after the first time they should think of preventing it better with birth control or just not having intercourse. After the first abortion, I think that it should be slightly harder to get another one unless there is good reasoning such as rape or they wouldn 't be able to physically go through giving birth. Abortion Procedures There are several different types of abortion today,...show more content... Wade and adopted a less restrictive standard for state regulations. The decision allowed states to impose waiting periods before a woman can obtain an abortion, allowed some legislative interference in the first trimester in the interests ' of a woman 's health, and permitted parental consent requirements for minors seeking abortions. [107]The Court ruled that none of these conditions imposed an "undue burden" upon women seeking abortions, but some pro–choice advocates warned that Roe v. Wadehad been significantly weakened and that states would limit abortion access. [108][109] On Nov. 5, 2003, after passing in the US House of Representatives (281–142) and the US Senate (64–34), the Partial–Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 [58] was signed into law by President George W. Bush. This federal legislation banned physicians from providing intact dilation and extraction (aka "partial–birth" abortion), a late–term (after 21 weeks gestation) method which accounted for 0.17% of abortion procedures in 2000. [43] The act defines a "partial–birth abortion" as "an abortion in which the provider deliberately and intentionally vaginally delivers a living fetus until... the entire fetal head is outside the body of the mother, or... any part of the fetal trunk past the navel is outside the body of the mother, for the purpose of performing an overt act that the person knows will kill the partially delivered living fetus." • 4. Persuasive Essay On Abortion The topic on debating about abortion has been one of the biggest controversies there has been in human history. There are many people in this planet that believe that it is very immoral and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is, "When a pregnancy ends abruptly, either voluntarily or involuntarily, and the fetus is expelled from the womb before it can live on its own. There are many ways you can see things in life, every human being has a different type of perspective. The way we see things in life and how we feel about them are completely different for all of us. Now in the case of pro–life believers, they do not support the idea of having an induced abortion and truly believe it should be illegal. There are many supporters that do not know that if abortion were to be illegal they would still be performed, sadly by uneducated staffs. There are over 80 thousand maternal deaths that occur almost every year because of unsafe abortions. The idea of women having the choice to do what she pleases with her own body and support the right to privacy is a pro–choice belief. A great example could be, when a woman is raped by a man and becomes pregnant with his child, she then decides she does not want to keep the baby, she now has an abortion because the idea of raising a child from a man that raped her is a very painful thing to cope with all her life. Many pro–choice defenders take sympathies to this woman while in the other hand she then gets called a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Persuasive Essay About Abortion We all know what an abortion is, or at least the basics of what it is. We also know that abortion is a highly controversial topic. However, many people don't know what actually happens during an abortion, or the effects it can have. There are so many things to consider, and we don't think about everything. We just think about if a pregnant woman doesn't want to have a baby for whatever the reason is, and then she shouldn't be forced to. However, that's not all there is to it and abortions should be illegal because regardless the reason, the situation doesn't effect the fact that you are taking a babies life, even if they are still in a womb. What are in–clinic abortions? An in–clinic abortion is a procedure performed by using suction to take a pregnancy out of your uterus. There are a few different kinds of in–clinic abortion procedures. They decide which one to use by determining which procedure will be best for the mother. Some people get abortion pills and it causes you to have the abortion at home. The pill takes about 24 hours to complete, while in–clinic abortions take between 5–10 minutes to complete. Suction abortion is the most common type of abortion. It uses suction to empty the uterus, it is usually done between 14–16 weeks. Dilation and evacuation is another kind of abortion procedure. It uses suction as well but it also uses medical tools to empty the uterus. Dilation and evacuation is usually performed after 16 weeks. • 6. Persuasive Essay On Abortion Pro–Life is the way to go Though the Supreme Court voted pro–choice in the 1973 court case of Roe v. Wade, abortion still remains a hot topic among the American population and political parties. The case was based on an argument on the 14th amendment: right to privacy, that made it the woman's decision to have an abortion. This amendment, however does not protect the liberty and privacy of the fetus, meaning, the child does not receive his or her inalienable rights until after birth. Ever since Roe v. Wadewas enabled, there has been a strict division within the United States between the pro–life, and pro–choice believers. The idea of pro–choice negates the 5th amendment rights to life and liberty. What does it say about the right to kill in the constitution? Nothing. Surgically aborting an unborn child is unethical, cruel, selfish, and most importantly, it's murder. Abortion V. Miscarriage As of today, there are two types of abortions; spontaneous abortion and surgical abortion. A spontaneous abortion–otherwise known as a miscarriage–is the involuntary type of abortion. It is defined as a non induced fetal death, before 20 weeks gestation. There are a number of causes of spontaneous abortions, such as chromosomal or genetic abnormalities, malformations of the body or the unhealthy diet of the mother such as alcohol or drug use. This type of abortion occurs between 10 to 15 percent of all pregnancies among American women (Dulay, A. T. 2017). As for surgical abortion, a procedure performed in order to remove the unborn child and placenta from the mother's uterus. Unlike the spontaneous abortion, this type of abortion does not end on its own. "Surgical abortions involve dilating the opening to the uterus (cervix) and placing a small suction tube into the uterus. Suction is used to remove the fetus and related pregnancy material from the uterus (Jacobson, J 2016)." It is so sickening that these lives taken in such a disgusting way. The baby's limbs are literally being torn apart in this procedure. I can't imagine the pain the child must be in! So many people hope and wish to someday carry a child of their own and there are mothers out there who don't want the child they made. In fact, according Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Persuasive Essay Against Abortion What type of society do we live in? One that approves the killing of an innocent baby before it's even born? That's what abortion is, and it's approved in almost every country. Abortion is a procedure that deliberately removes a baby from the mother womb which is usually performed in the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. In the United States, nearly 40% of all babies are aborted. While many people say abortion is a viable method to stop pregnancy, abortion is killing an innocent unborn human and that is undeniably murder. It has to be stopped. While many argue that abortion is needed in cases of an unwanted pregnancy, there are other methods that can be used to stop the pregnancy before it starts. For instance, birth control and the day after pill...show more content... A study at The University of Colorado shows "Within 8 weeks after their abortions, 55% expressed guilt, 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances, 31% had regrets about their decision, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their family doctor." (Ashton). This proves that most mothers feel an emotional effect after abortion. Who really wants to put up with the possibilities of all these problems? It's just adding on to the problems women face every day. Though religious text can be interpreted differently most religions strictly prohibit abortion. Some religions that prohibit abortion are Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Mormonism, and Baptist. Some proof of this comes from the bible of the Christian Religion. In Psalm 139: 13–16 it says "13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." • 8. Persuasive Essay Abortion How would you feel if someone took your life away? Think about it like this, you didn't do anything wrong and all you wanted to do was live. But someone decided that it would be better for their sake that you die. Unborn babies don't have a choice whether they live or die when they're in the womb. Fifty–six million abortions are performed world–wide each year, with thity million of them are in evolving countries. Abortion should be illegal with the exception of rape victims and if the mother is on the verge of losing her life. In 1971 a pregnant, single, Texas woman by the name of Norma McCorvey wanted to have an abortion but couldn't because it was illegal in Texas. They told her that she could go out of state and get one where it was legal,...show more content... Some of the alternatives include to parent, Interim Foster Care or adoption. Even though parenting is challenging for some, at the end it is very rewarding. If someone decides to become a parent, they have options of getting married, joint custody, custody with visitation rights or full custody. Interim Forster Care gives the mother more time to decide if she wants to keep her child or give it to an actual foster care home. The Interim Foster Care can last from a few hours or several months. This decision can sometimes give the mom time to meet and get to know the foster parents better and decide if they are a better fit to raise the child. Sometimes the father of the child will file for custody or another family member may decide to file for full custody of the child. While the cases are pending, the child will stay in the Interim Foster Care. Foster Care is very safe and dependable. Adoption is when the parent gives full legal custody and responsibility to another adult or adults. At times adoptions are done with an agency or without an agency. Adoption agencies and adopting parents use attorneys to find each other. An open adoption allows the mother write an adoption plan. Thereafter, the adoption parents decide if they will want the birth mother to have contact with the child. • 9. Persuasive Essay About Abortion Abortion Discussion (Pro–Choice) Do you believe abortion should be legal? As a woman who has experienced the horrific tragedy of rape and all of the trauma that comes with it, I personally find a woman's right to have a say in her own reproductive rights to be of the utmost importance. Ever since the landmark Supreme Court case Roe v. Wadewas decided in January of 1973, abortion has been deemed a fundamental right for women. Additionally, a woman's right to access legal, safe, and professionally–performed abortions severely reduces the risk of death and bodily harm associated with less safe, unlawful abortions. Lastly, studies performed via peer review in 2013 found that women who denied abortions were more likely to suffer from mental health problems when compared to women who carried out the procedure. Furthermore, only 1 in 20 women who received abortions felt that they did not make the right choice in doing so. In other words, in order to ensure the health of women, both physical and mental, in the United States, it is vital that safe avenues for abortion remain available to the general public. Does the Life of a Human Being Begin at Conception? Human life most certainly does not begin at conception for a variety of reasons ranging from medical to biological to legal. First of all, when we speak of how long a person has been alive we commonly refer to their age. A number which represents how long it has been since they were born, not conceived. Additionally, personhood only begins after a fetus has the ability to survive on its own outside the womb, a term that is commonly referred to as viability. At the moment of conception through up to 26 weeks into the pregnancy a fetus is not even capable of feeling pain, according to Britain's Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. This aforementioned fact has to do with the lack of a developed cortex in the said fetus. Furthermore, documents such as the United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights fail to recognize fetuses as living beings as they use words such as "born" to classify those whose rights the documents encompass. Lastly, to suggest that a zygote, a diploid fertilized ovum that is formed at the time of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Essay On Abortion 77% of anti–abortion advocates are men, 100% of them will never have to make the choice of whether or not to have an abortion. Why do men have the right to say things and are allowed to input their opinion about abortions when the majority of them won't ever get an abortion or have to decide if they are ready to take care of an unexpected child. There are many reasons that women choose to have an abortion, and the decision is often never made hastily or without thought. There are often circumstances that make an abortion a very reasonable decision, and it's not always about a mistaken pregnancy. In cases of rape woman should be able to abort free of judgement. If the mother's health is affected than she should be able to make the choice without someone criticizing her. When teen pregnancies occur the mother shouldn't have to be bullied because of a simple mistake that thousands of other people make every year. Women should not have to ask for permission to do what she deems necessary for her OWN body. Women should have an option to have an abortion if they feel it's necessary especially in cases of rape, when it affects their overall health and/or well being and when teen pregnancies occur. In cases of rape, women should be able to get an abortion because in many cases it is a daily reminder of the constant trauma they had to go through. Most people will agree in the case of rape that an abortion is the most common outcome. They are right. To the people who Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Essay Abortion Persuasive Essay INTRODUCTIONWhile abortion has become a worldwide controversy, there is one place that turns the topic into more chaos, Uganda. Uganda has the most complicated and weirdest view about abortion that it makes any other country not look that bad. The situation is that the government can МЃt seem to find a solution. In this essay I will talk about that and Uganda МЃs independent movements.BODYWhy Abortion in Uganda is Complicated? It is true that other countries try to find the right answers and it is considered a hard task, but Uganda is way off that. • 12. Persuasive Essay On Abortion Many individuals fail to understand the sheer magnitude of bloodshed, tribulation, and despair legalized abortion has initiated into the human experience – both in the United States and worldwide. Far more human lives have been violently ended by this immoral decision than any other war or genocide in history. It is one of the most controversial issues in today's society.Abortion is the intentional decision to murder a human fetus by chemical, medical or surgical procedures. Those who support the rights of abortion argue that women should be able to decide what can be done to their bodies, yet the unborn baby inside a woman is a living being, and terminating that pregnancy is the equivalent of murder. These innocent children should not be held responsible for your mistakes. Don't terminate pregnancy now, because you may not have children in the future at all. To commence with, during development a human being grows at an astonishingly rapid pace. According to Guttmacher Institute, "89% of all abortions in the United States are performed in the first trimester of pregnancy." (2005). In the first trimester (16 weeks), the baby's eyes and eyelids, nose, mouth, and tongue have formed, and the baby's reproductive organs also develop. The cardiovascular system is the first system that begins to function. The baby's heart begins to circulate their own blood, similar to his mother's heart, twenty–two days after conception. • 13. Persuasive Essay On Abortion ;Mackeesha Jno–Charles Professor Smartt ENGL 1102 23 October 2017 No Uterus, No Opinion Thesis: If women had the necessary information and means to carry out full–term pregnancies, raise their children in safe comfortable environments, and have safe abortions, then the controversy over abortion would cease. The solutions to reducing abortion, or at least making it safer for women, are better leadership in Congress and commitment to women's health, providing up–to–date sex education along with supporting pregnancy assistance programs. "No matter what our views, we are united in our determination to prevent unintended pregnancies, reduce the need for abortion, and support women and families in the choices they make. To accomplish these goals, we must work to find common ground to expand access to affordable contraception, accurate health information, and preventative services." (Montopoli) Women with low income in the US have been at the mercy of this corrupt government since abortion has been legally recognized. The solution to decrease abortions should not reflect increasing the cost of unnecessary clinic regulations along with making waiting periods a requirement, while decreasing the number of doctors available for abortions. This only results in grave injuries and infertility from unsafe at home abortions. Public funding and assistant programs should no longer be a "privilege" to women who want abortions. It should be a automatic given, like guns to a redneck or hopes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Persuasive Essay On Abortion Abortion or the termination of pregnancy has been practiced since ancient times. This has always and still to this day is a subject widely debated. If you go to any search engine and type in abortion, it brings up hundreds of abortion clinics near your location. This is a discussion of the pro–life and pro–choice philosophies regarding abortion I believe that a woman should have the choice to do what she wants with her body but at the same time act responsibly. There are many different reasons that lead some women to have an abortion. From the outside looking in we can always give our opinion, but you never really know what that person is going through or thinking. In 2011, approximately 1.06 million abortions took place in the U.S., down from an estimated 1.21 million abortions in 2008.According to the CDC unmarried women account for 85% of those that have abortions. Most of these women are in their early twenties, on Medicaid, and African American. The U.S. Congress has barred the use of federal Medicaid funds to pay for abortions, except when the woman's life would be endangered by a full–term pregnancy or in cases of rape or incest....show more content... Some believe that the abortion of a human should be illegal and should be protected by the government. Pro–life supporters argue that life begins at the time of conception and that abortion is a form of murder. They also feel that with so many families that can't have children and wanting to adopt that there is no such thing as an unwanted child. I agree and disagree with pro–lifers. There are children out there that are in foster care for years and never get adopted .so why should you continue to put more children in this position? I think that calling abortion murder is a bit extreme, however it does hurt my heart to know that some of these babies are being Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Persuasive Essay On Abortion The abortion debate is still alive today and branches out all over the world, from developing countries that have improper medical care to the most developed countries where everyone is well off and provided everything they need and want. In an academic journal, known as "Abortion Debate," these issues are expressed. It's already been established that laws on abortion are different all over the world. In some places, like Northern Ireland, abortion is illegal unless the woman in question is in danger for being pregnant. Then, in places like Greece, there are no restrictions on abortions as long as it's a set number of weeks gestation. In Greece, this number is up to twelve weeks. After that abortion is not an option. While abortion is available in Western Europe, the rate is lower than that in Africa, where it is illegal. In places like this, women are forced to go under illegal procedures to abort their unborn child. For this reason, many believe that abortion needs to be legal to provide safe procedures for those seeking one. Now on to America; many U.S. citizens think abortion, while legal, needs restrictions. Those restrictions varying from health reasons to how many weeks of gestation a woman can be up to. 26% of Americans want abortion to be legal no matter the reason. 56% think there need to be restrictions. Then 17% believe abortion needs to be illegal. These 17% have used many tactics to stop abortion, one of those ways being making getting an abortion more difficult. They have not realized that the world is changing and is in need of change. Men have almost always had the higher authority in the world. Though only in recent times has the world changed to having women gain higher authority becoming equal with men. Women in this new era are finally starting to be recognized equally to men. • 17. Persuasive Essay On Abortion "And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?" a famous quote by Mother Teresa. Abortion is most definitely murder. If someone murders a pregnant woman and both her and the baby dies then it is considered a double homicide. This shows the unborn baby in the womb is legally classified as a life. Ronald Reagan said, "I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born." I strongly believe this statement to be true. Many people don't think twice about aborting a baby they just don't want their lifestyle to be hindered so without really thinking about the pain and suffering that baby is going to go through they decide to end its life. In a short abortion documentary video Jim Boyd, a member of the Florida House of Representatives, asked Alisa LaPolt Snow from Planned Parenthood if a baby is born on a table as a result of a botched abortion what Planned Parenthood would want to happen to that child whom is struggling for life....show more content... If the baby needs resuscitation it will not be provided. Writing for a visual prompt was presented in two peoples perspectives. The story consisted of a daughter (Deb) and mother's perspective after the death of her father. The purpose of this layout is to show how they are both grieving in individual ways. The context of the persuasive essay on abortion is set in the 21st century, and as the world becomes more accepting actions such as abortion, laws begin to change to cater to the new generation. However, there are always people that will oppose to these changes. That's what was outlined in my persuasive essay. Target Audiences The target audience for the real –estate article is someone who is looking for a spacious house to purchase. It probably would be directed more at a young family that's looking for more room, or a couple that are planning on having a bigger family in the future. Due to the economy and the continuous increase of house prices, this house probably would be targeted at a middle–class family. The target audience for the visual prompt is someone who is looking for a story that contains an unexpected ending and series of events. It also touches basis on mental health. Its more targeted at a younger audience, between 16–30 years old. As it's based on two women, the gender of the audience probably would be more women than men. As it focuses on grief and how that can change someone, it can be relatable to some audience members. The target audience for the persuasive piece on abortion would be more directed at someone that supports abortions, or have similar views as me. The gender of the target audience would most Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Persuasive Essay Against Abortion Against Abortion Most people don't know the pros and cons of abortion? Abortion is what a female does for various reasons, but many times for all the wrong reasons. There is multiple different ways females could go to rather than to just choose the worst way. Even though some people think abortion is right at certain times, abortion is wrong and surrogate should be used, because there is no reason to kill a child that hasn't had the right to live yet. Abortion should never be the first option once getting pregnant. Some people say they are against abortion, but would accept abortion if it was rape. "Law & Order special victim unit" states that a women can't become pregnant after rape because their body has a instinct to make their body reject the action and the eggs to be fertilized.(Law & Order SVU) Even though females claim rape on many cases if they become pregnant doctors have proven that the person had to of enjoyed some part of the sexual contact. People also get abortion for ignorant reasons that should never be legal to do. Females use excuses how they aren't ready to have a baby yet, but they use other excuses as in they don't want to ruin their body, or their relationships with people close to them. Furthermore they get an abortion so they don't have to deal with it. "Women always loth to talk about the more visceral elements of female reproductive physicality are too ashamed, or unconfident in their reception, to discuss their terminations, even with friends or partners. This brings about the curious circumstance that, while pretty much everyone must have someone dear to them who has had an abortion, the chances of them actually discussing it with them are remote. Most women don't tell friends family or their spouse about getting abortions normally."(Caitlin, M, n/d .Therefore it is usually not nobody but the mother's decision to get the abortion. Although most people would think relatives close to them would know about something major like this, they usually don't. A option instead of abortion is a surrogate mother and/or adoption, there's so many women on this earth that cannot conceive children for different reason, but would love to have children. • 20. Persuasive Essay About Abortion There is really nothing more practical than the real world expressions of worldview. What people believe is in the core of their being and will be expressed accuratly, and blatantly, in everyday life. It determines the way we think and the way we act. So as we sit and think of the many world views and make our own decisions on what we think, I want to bring up abortion. Abortions have been happening since the time the Constitution was adopted, abortions before "quickening" were openly advertised and commonly performed. Many believe it is your choice to kill a baby in the womb and others are against it. Where do I stand? I believe that a child has life at conception. So if a they take a childs life in the womb it is considered murder. Abortion is wrong and should be illegal. When we think about abortion, there are normally three questions that cross each persons mind. We need to understand: When does life start?, Who has the right to end another's life?, and What is the value of human life?. The first question has brought a lot of divison in our society. There is now a pretty strong consensus in the scientific community that life begins when a sperm and ovum come together. At that point, a new individual is created which is unique from its mother. But than there is the other side of the argument that it is the mothers choice. It is their own need and desire to think about that they put first instead of putting the babys life before theirs. The second answer is no one has Get more content on HelpWriting.net
