Many people struggle with anxiety during their day-to-
day life. If left unmanaged, anxiety can interfere with a
person’s ability to hold down a job or maintain
friendships and relationships with family members. In
addition to anxious thoughts and feelings of
nervousness, individuals with anxiety may exhibit
physical symptoms such as sweating,
hyperventilating, shaking, and having a rapid
heartbeat.

 People who feel that their anxiety is interfering
with normal functioning should see a doctor
and explain how they are feeling. Seeking
treatment is particularly important if individuals
are using drugs or alcohol to help deal with
anxious thoughts, or if they feel that the

away.
