What Is a Topic?  A topic is a word or phrase that tells what something is about.  The Topic Is a particular issue or idea that serves as the subject of a paragraph, essay, report, or speech.
Why is the Topic important?  Identifying the topic is key to monitoring your comprehension, getting the full meaning of the text, and answering your instructor when he ask.
