2. Gas Pool Heaters
• Powerful – heat pool quickly
• Relatively cheap to buy and install
• Modern gas heaters are energy efficient
• Reliable – tried & tested technology
• Not affected by the weather
BUT
• Can be expensive to run (especially propane
models)
Ideal choice if you heat your pool intermittently
3. Pool Heat Pumps
• Move heat from air to water
• Several hundred % energy efficient
• No emissions - eco friendly
• Cheap to run
• Can cool as well as heat the water
BUT
• More expensive to buy
• Less powerful than gas heaters
• Not so good in cold conditions
• Ideal if you heat your pool continuously
4. Solar Pool Heater
• Uses Free energy from the sun
• Can be installed by pool owner
• Little maintenance needed
• Long lasting
But
• Needs large area for solar collectors
• Not as powerful as gas heater or heat pump
• Highly Dependent on local conditions – average
temperature, wind factors, the angle and orientation of the
collectors and the solar exposure
• Proper systems are not cheap
Ideal if you have a good location and are not
too sensitive to water temperature
