4. Class Discussion Topic 1: In the past Jivaro lived deep in the jungle in isolated family groups. Why might society have been organised this way? Topic 2: What traditions did Jivaro develop to help them feel they had some power to respond to the environment? Topic 3: Jivaro sold preserved heads as collectibles which have ended up in museums. Should preserved heads be displayed in museums?
5. Researching different tribes Your teacher will hand you out an A3 sheet which has a large table on it. On this table you must begin filling in the details of the tribes we will be looking at over the next couple of lessons. Begin by filling in the column for the Jivarofrom yesterday’s lesson. As you go through the grid, there will be some blank boxes but most of them will be full.

8. Remember the Homework! You are a writer for the Times magazine. You have been told to explore the jungle searching for the Jivaro Indians so you can research them for your editor. Write a series of journal articles on what you found. Use the detail from this sheet. Remember: the journal entries are research based. Try to put in your opinion but include a description of the facts.
