Question 4 evaluation
1. How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning
and evaluation stages?
2. In the next few slides I am going to talk about
what media products I used during the research
stages of creating my trailer.
3. I usedWeb 2.0 when looking at videos on
YouTube and looking on Google for information
about the typical conventions of a horror trailer
so that I knew what to include. I also used the
web when looking for magazine covers and
posters for ideas for my ancillary products. This
was good and helped throughout as it enabled
us to search for things and allowed us to gather
information.
4. I used this software throughout my research as
I made notes on word documents and made
PowerPoint's that were shown to our media
class and our target market in order to gather
ideas of our strengths and weaknesses of our
initial ideas.
5. I used Prezi in my research to do a technical
analysis of 3 trailers in order to see what was
needed and what was conventional so that
when I created my product I had an idea of
what trailers consisted of.This software is a
great was to present work but I had some
troubles embedding it to my blog; these
problems were solved.
6. In the next few slides I am going to talk about
what media products I used during the planning
stages of creating my trailer.
7. I used the web in my planning as I searched for
possible sound for our trailer fromYouTube and
royalty free music websites in order to be able
to gather audience research as to what music
and sound effects were preferred.
8. I used the camera that was chosen to be used to film our trailer to carry
out test shots of our location and which camera angles we could use and
what time of day the lighting would be most effective. The camera was
also used to film audience feedback and my group and I presenting our
ideas to our class.
This camera was great quality, the only weakness was that we had to add a
sound bar to the top of the camera as the sound wasn’t clear enough when
transferred onto a computer. Below is an image of the camera we used.
9. My group and I used Premier Pro in our planning
stages to try and get used to the software and to
put a sequence of our test shots together to show
to our media class and group of target audience.
This is a great software to use and enables us to
learn many new skills and make a product we are
proud of.The only weaknesses was that there
were a few problems during the stages of creating
our trailer as none of our group had used this
before.
10. My group and I used Pinterest which is a
website that allows you to post collages of
images. We used this to gather images of what
kind of make up/face paint we wanted to use
and what looks we were going to try to achieve
during our production stages.
11. In the next few slides I am going to talk about what
media products I used during the production
stages of creating my trailer.
12. This was probably the most
important piece of hardware
used as it enables us to film
all of the shots we wanted in
order to make a good and
effective trailer.The camera
didn’t play up and worked
perfectly throughout the
course of our filming.To the
left is an image of the
camera we used.
13. We used a Go Pro with
a water proof case as
we did some shots that
were around water in
the bathroom and in a
shower which could
have damaged a
normal camera.These
shots were successful.
To the right is a picture
of the Go Pro that we
used.
14. iMovie was used to create our ident and inter-
titles which worked well with our trailer. There
was one weakness which was that we struggled
to get the iMovie with the ident and inter-titles
ontoYouTube to be able to download it, but we
found a way around it and solved the problem
in the end.
15. I created a survey using Survey Monkey for my
group so that we could receive audience
feedback as we were producing our product.
This software worked very well and fit its
purpose.
16. This was used for the creation of my ancillary
products. At first I found this software very
difficult to use but I watched manyYouTube
(another software usingWeb 2.0) videos and
taught myself how to use the tools in order to
create an effective product.
17. My group and I usedYouTube to upload our
final product of our trailer called ‘I’M HERE’.
This is a useful way to upload videos as they can
easily be put on a blog.
18. In the next few slides I am going to talk about
what media products I used during all stages
stages of creating my trailer.
19. Our group usedWhatsapp to
communicate with each other
such as when we were planning
on filming, when we were going
out to buy props and also for
sending images that could be
used to put on our blog.We
found this very helpful as it
allowed us to keep in contact
and keep on track of things; it
also was key in us
communicating ideas.To the
right is a screenshot of our
group sending images to one
another.
20. Blogger was used to keep a log of all of our
work from research to planning to final
products and evaluations.This software works
well and fits its purpose and was a good way of
showing our work.
21. This hardware was used throughout to put
images and film from a camera to a computer
and also to share work that was needed for all
members of the group. It was a vital tool for our
group to use.
