Cross Sectional Study Essay
Cross–Sectional Study Article Review Biostatics is the essential to all functions of public health.
Biostatistics interprets the distribution and variation of the data to obtain reliable results and valid
conclusions. In Biostatics there are two types of studies that can be done, observational and
experimental. One type of observational study is a cross–sectional study. "Cross–sectionals surveys
are observational studies conducted at a point in time. A cross–sectional study entails measuring
different variables in a target population at a single point in time" (Chamberlain, 2018). The article
"Over–indebtedness as a marker of socioeconomic status and its association with obesity: a cross–
sectional study" gives us an understanding of a study desgin.
Why Cross–Sectional Study There are various reasons why this is a cross–sectional study. To begin
with, in this cross–sectional study they are studying a target population during a certain time and the
various variables among the target population that have led to their disease state. "Data are collected
on the whole study population to examine the relationship between disease (or other health related
state) and other variables of interest. Cross–sectional studies therefore provide a snapshot of the
frequency of a disease or other health related characteristics in a population at a given ... Show more

What Conditions Explain The Creation Of The Westphalia Treaty
Part 1) What conditions explain the creation of the Westphalia treaty in 1648?
The Westphalia treaty of 1648 which ended the Thirty Years War, can be described as one of the
prominent milestones that shaped the principle of state sovereignty. These treaties, both signed in
the western cities of current day Münster and Osnabrück, Germany. This paper will describe the
conditions that made it necessary for a co–existing agreement in Europe at the time, which would
later become the basis of a state's self–determination and existence. It will also include the
implications that the treaty had upon Europe, and the world today. The many political principles
deriving from the Westphalian treaty would become apparent in modern–day society, whether
embraced fully or used as a stepping stone to considering other principles, it would influence the
way that international law, politics, and diplomacy would be determined. A state is defined as a legal
entity with a permanent population, a well–defined territory, and a government capable of exercising
sovereignty. The definition becomes important during this time period of the signing of the Peace
Treaty, and for the overall international law for years to come.
Gregory Raymond's 2005 Westphalia excerpt describes the events and characteristics of the 1648
Westphalia Treaty by stating that, "[U]nder the terms of the peace agreements, the power of the
Hapsburgs was weakened, with the Holy Roman Empire limited in its sphere of influence to

Using Kieran O' Conor's Medieval Rural Settlement in...
The Anglo–Norman period in Ireland from c. 1169 – c. 1350, like people from Europe are from
different social ranks and origins. The evidence researched for this essay will help us understand and
focus on can depictions of what the rural landscape in Munster looked like (O'Conor 2004, p. 228).
In the past of archaeological research the rural landscape in Munster has been neglected for
excavating urban areas in Cork, Limerick and Waterford, however, there have been a few
publications on rural landscapes in research years yet evidence is still limited (O'Conor 2004, p.
230). In this essay the features of a manorial landscape in Anglo–Norman and Gaelic–Irish
settlements in Munster.
The settlements that existed in the countryside of Munster were Anglo–Irish dominated and were
from the high medieval period (O'Conor 2004, p. 231). The land that was conquered by theses
settlers was then divided into between them into estates which are called manors (O'Conor 2004, p.
232). In the centre of these manors resided a manorial lord most often in different types of castles.
These castles divide into large masonry castles such as the Adare castle in county Limerick, or
smaller masonry castles which break up into hall–houses, mottes and ringworks (O'Conor 2004, p.
232). These castles also had defensive features made from earth and timber (O'Conor 2004, p. 232)
the majority of castles built by Anglo–Normans were made completely of timber and earth.
There is no specific figures of castles

George Whitefield 's The Great Awakening
George Whitefield is an individual like no other. He's an individual who made a mark on history. He
was an average person who lived to make a major difference and would be one of the most well
known individuals to take part in the Evangelical Awakening of the 1700s. It was a time when you
saw God's hand in the world like never before.
When looking back in history, specifically Christian history, we would say that George Whitefield
truly made his mark on history during the evangelical awakening. He was one of the biggest
proponents in spreading the word of God, and he was not to go unnoticed. However, how much do
we really know about such an important historic event?

Many of these individuals had been baptized as infants, but chose to be baptized again as believing
adults. (www.anabaptists.org) Preachers of this unstable ideology of Anabaptism were taking refuge
in the Lutheran town of Münster. Among those hiding out were the disciples of Melchior Hoffman.
He was a new prophet who had new knowledge of influence after his recent conversion to the
Anabaptist movement. He had begun to teach his followers to recognize the signs that would
precede the golden age of heaven fifteen centuries after the crucifixion. It didn't take long for these
ideas to become a "massive obsession" in the town of Münster. Lutherans and Catholics alike
worked hard to teach over him. He was soon arrested due to his revolutionary preaching.
In the early sixteenth century, scholars were studying the millennial expectations of the ancient
worlds that had become such a radical component for the central institutions of Christendom.
Advocates of this new millennial belief appeared after the completion of the New Testament. They
argued diverse assumptions of this revolution, but found common roots in Revelation 20:1–10,
which states that those who died for defending Jesus would sit at God's right–hand with the power to
judge and Satan would be released from his prison and thrown into a fiery lake of burning sulfur
where he would be tormented.

The Anabaptist Madness : The Overthrow Of Munster, The...
Jak Kramer GH 301 Apocalypse Source Explication For my primary source, I decided to choose a
letter found in Narrative of the Anabaptist Madness: The Overthrow of Munster, the Famous,
Metropolis of Westphalia by Hermann von Kerssenbrock. Although this was a letter in a book
written by Herman von Kerssenbrock, it was actually written by Bernard Rothman; a radical
preacher that strained the boundaries of what religious reformed looked like at that time. Rothman
was born in Swabisch Hall around 1495 in southwestern Germany. A furrier by trade, Rothman
often travelled to different parts Livonia around the Baltic Sea. In the places that Rothman would
stop for business, he would also begin to preach radical ideas about need for church reform and
Anabaptism in general. Putting a more controversial spin on the teachings of Luther, Rothman
would sometimes cause riots in the towns that he stayed in, and because of this, he was often banned
from the places he traveled. Eventually, Rothman gained an officially role of preacher in Stockholm
in 1527, but he was soon expelled from their as well for his radical preaching. Relocating to and
being expelled from places such as Lubek, Denmark, Wittenberg, and East Frisia, Rothman reached
out to Luther to receive a letter of commendation. Luther refused to supply Rothman with this based
on the fact that he did not agree with Rothman's preaching iconoclasm, his allegorical interpretation
of the Eucharist, and, most prominently his apocalyptic

Menno Simons : The Regenerator Of The Anabaptist Movement
Menno Simons: "He (Menno Simons) was not the founder but is often called the regenerator of the
Anabaptist movement. He certainly was its most important leader in the Netherlands during the
sixteenth century. Menno assumed leadership during a crucial period in which the Anabaptist
movement was in danger of losing its original identity. His prolific writings and moderate leadership
were essential in unifying the nonviolent wing of the Dutch Anabaptists and maintaining their
peaceful beliefs." Menno Simons was born in 1496 ( His exact birth date is unknown). From early
on in life, Menno's parents committed him to the service of the Roman Catholic Church. Therefore,

"I did not get very far in it (the Scriptures) , before I saw that we had been deceived." Menno began
to read Martin Luther's writings, and found himself agreeing with Luther's way of thinking. He
found a way to free his conscience and to stop feeling guilty. However it inevitably led him away
from the Catholic Church. In making his decision on mass, however, Menno did not follow Luther's
teaching. He instead made his own interpretation on the Lords supper. Menno, unlike some
reformers, didn't seem to be in too big of a hurry to leave the Catholic Church. He started out only
questioning the Mass. He likely thought he could just remain a loyal Catholic and teach his new
ideas and point of view to the congregation. However, he was met with great opposition, as can well
be expected. (Bender, 05) "Menno's progress of the Gospel was slow. One pillar of his Catholic faith
had broken down, namely the mass, but he continued nevertheless, out of fear of men, to celebrate
the mass as before". Outwardly, he may have looked like a priest, but inwardly he truly didn't
believe in the rituals that he was doing. "He may never have left the Church, had it not been for the
second pillar in his Catholic faith also broke down, the pillar of baptism." It wasn't something that
happened overnight, It was a gradual process. It's quite possible that the beginning of the breaking
down of this pillar began with Menno reading a book written by a preacher who advocated the idea

The Wrist Test
Five Ingenious Ways to Check Your Own Breath We've all been there. That sinking feeling of deep
regret...for the garlic aioli drizzled atop the freshly sliced onions on your deluxe munster
cheeseburger. Each interaction for the remainder of the day is permeated by an invisible cloud of
humid dragon–breath, potentially offending a client, or worse, cutting short a hot date. Here are five
ways to determine the degree of lethality your breath is imposing on those poor souls who happen to
wander within six feet of you. 1. The Wrist Test Perhaps the easiest method with lightning–fast
results is The Wrist Test. Simply lick the inside of your (clean) wrist, ensuring the lick originates

to avoid the inevitable questioning that comes with licking yourself in public. Find some white
medical gauze––we want that sterilization, it's less likely that your test may be tainted with foreign
matter. Beginning as far back on your tongue as possible without tossing your cookies, firmly draw
a portion of the gauze forward, gathering a hazardous sample of your...tongue gunk. Examine the
gauze. Is it yellow? Brown? That's definitely not good. Brace yourself and take a deep whiff of the
cloth. Yeah, you didn't come out of this looking so great. 4. The At–Home Kit Test Yes, this exists. A
scientific kit, easily purchasable on the internet, that does the smelling for you. This is an ideal test
for those in denial. The at–home breath test market is surprisingly diverse, offering everything from
pocket–sized electronic thingamabobs to mailing samples to a lab. Also great for anonymously

Hubert Berke Research Paper
The prolific German painter Hubert Berke was born in 1908 in Buer and died in 1979 in Cologne.
Before his transition into fine arts, Berke educated himself in languages, later studying philosophy,
art history and theology at universities in Münster and Königsberg (1931–2). After a year of
education under the painter Fritz Burmann at the Academy of Fine Arts, Berke left Königsberg for
Düsseldorf, where he was a student of Paul Klee. Both in his oils and watercolors, Berke was
oscillating between Informel painting and the modernist traditions from cubism and abstraction, to
expressionism. Later on, in the mid–50s, the artist started to employ three–dimensional materials
into his canvases, such as nails. The following years, Berke extended his artistic vocabulary through
sculptures, objects, or stained glass windows. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Faerie Queene By Edmund Spenser Analysis
This week's lecture is on "The Faerie Queene" by Edmund Spenser. This lecture focuses on Edmund
Spenser's life, the sources and influences that created Book I of "The Faerie Queene", themes,
devices, and meaning, purpose of Book I, and "The Legend of the Knight of the Red Cross".
Edmund Spenser was born in 1552 to a modest family of modest means with a similar background
such as Marlowe and Shakespeare. Spenser was a well–educated man much like Marlowe. Spenser
spent his first years of education at the Merchant Taylors' School before attending university.
Edmund Spenser would go on to receive a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Arts from Cambridge
University. After university, Spenser would begin a career as a minor civil servant where he was a
personal secretary to men of power and influence. His work would lead him to a few minor colonial
government posts in Ireland. Afterwards, Edmund Spenser was bestowed a castle and 3,000 acres of
land in Munster, Ireland. However, the castle was burned down into a rebel uprising. This was due
to Spenser being disrespectful of the Irish and their religion. Edmund Spenser would then go on to
be a poet. He was creative and adventurous when it came to his work. His greatest works are "The
Shepheardes Calendar" and "The Faerie Queene". Spenser became a great influence to several poets
such as Milton and other romantics. In the end, Edmund Spenser became one of the greatest English
poets of his time.
"The Faerie Queene" is similar to works of Beowulf because of its Anglo–Saxon epics. Also, Book I
has a hint of classical and renaissance adventures. "The Faerie Queene" is a perfect combination of
themes and motifs that was already introduced in other assignments. This makes Spenser's "The
Faerie Queene" an epic poem. An epic poem is described as a long narrative in elevated style while
presenting characters of high positions in adventures thus forming an organic whole through their
relation to a central heroic figure and their development of events that play an important part to the
history of a nation or race. The common characteristics of the main character is that the hero is
played by a person of importance such who would have a historical or legendary significance. The

Thomas Müntzer: False Teachers Of The Reformation
With the Reformation came a number of leaders with many different theologies and ideas. Some
worked so hard and risked so much that whether one agreed with their views or not, their effort and
sacrifice demand respect. Others, however, became disillusioned, aggressive, or used this period of
religious tension to their own advantage.
Melchoir Hoffman, originally a Lutheran lay missionary, converted to Anabaptism before preaching
well beyond both groups' beliefs. The uneducated man "predicted" the end of the world, claiming to
be the prophet Elijah. Traveling from Strasbourg to Münster, he gained Dutch followers, who took
over Münster in 1533. The city was taken back in 1535, as their persecution of other groups became
their downfall. Upon his return ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Müntzer began his involvement in the Reformation on the right foot– as a priest, who, devoted to
the scriptures, found his own answers, and was appointed preacher in Zwickau on the
recommendation of Martin Luther himself. However, his tendency to attack the lifestyles of the rich
and powerful from the pulpit led to the loss of this position. He continued to preach politically
controversial sermons, traveling across the continent, and getting banned from each city he preached
in. Believing the common people's "inner light" to trump the authority of scripture, he created the
"League of the Elect," a peasant army to bring about his Christian theocracy by force. Their rallying
cry was "the godless must be destroyed." Luther denounced Müntzer, who made an alliance with
preacher Henry Pfeiffer. Telling the peasants that bullets could not hurt them because God was on
their side, he caused the deaths of countless peasants. He was arrested, tried, tortured and beheaded
for his involvement with the Peasants' Revolt in 1525. Luther, though upset by the bloodshed,
upheld the belief that Müntzer had proven his status as a false

There were many forms of acne, ranging from blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples to severe forms
such as cystic or modular acne. Da Silva, whose scientific background was with lasers, had seen
dermatologists use laser technologies in the treatment of mild to moderate inflammatory acne, most
commonly referred to as "pimples," "breakouts," "blemishes," or "zits." Choi summarized the
science behind the laser treatments: Lasers treat acne in two possible ways. At certain wavelengths–
or colors–lasers go into the skin tissue and generate oxygen radicals, which kill the bacteria and
reduce inflammation. At other wavelengths, lasers are basically heat sources that reduce sebum [an
oily substance produced by certain skin glands] production by killing and reducing the number of
sebaceous glands. This decreases the likelihood that excess sebum clogs pores, which can lead to
acne. 2 This document is authorized for use only by Rachel van Munster in Entrepreneurial Law and

Power Of The Druids
The Power of the Druids In the Irish religion called druidism, the druids were extremely powerful,
so powerful it seems that they even had to name the religion based upon these men and women of
such high rank. Often called wizards, their powers were virtually limitless. Ranging from divination
to creating potions to chanting spells, the druids were respected and, most likely, feared. Other than
the magical abilities the druids possessed, they were also the "exclusive possessors of whatever
learning was then known" (Joyce 44), meaning that they possessed all knowledge. Thus, they had
even more power over the people because they were relied upon for information. Concerning their
magic, the druids used it under many different circumstances and their interference greatly affected
the outcome of a story. It is helpful to use and analyze specific examples of druids in stories to
understand the mystical ways they wield their magic. In the story entitled "Lord and Lady of the
Wheel: the Careers of Mog Roith and Tlachtga", the vastness of a druid's power is well represented.
Though known as a druid "of wisdom and knowledge" (Matthews 189), these are not the druidic
traits of Mog Roith developed in the myth. In the first place, Mog Roith does not simply appear out
of thin air or without any purpose, but he is called upon by King Fiacha of Munster to aid in the
battle against Cormac mac Art. The King is currently on the verge of losing the war and he needs the

Ireland In 1494
In its strenuous efforts to subject Ireland to English Rule, the English government strategized on
how to most effectively surrender the Irish people to its supreme governance. One of the most
influential if not destructive methods was the implementation of Poynings Law in 1494, which
under its terms maintained that all Irish Bills be submitted by the English chief governor in Ireland
to the King and Privy Council by way of the English Parliament. Only Bills that were subsequently
approved and returned to Ireland under the Great Seal of England could be presented to the Irish
parliament. The purpose of this bill followed a number of other direct changes to Ireland that
stemmed from King Henry II and King Henry VIII and their momentous wish to rescue Ireland from
the decades of neglect England had subjugated the state collectively to, up until the sixteenth
century. The original purpose of the passage of the law in 1494 had been to to curb the independence
of Ireland's Anglo–Norman chief governors. However, it became most destructive because ... Show

Walter Kasper's Jesus The Christ
Among the numerous works that are dedicated to the study of Christological and soteriological
themes, the work of Walter Kasper, Jesus the Christ, stands out with a vigor and character. This
work is considered, in itself, an outline of the overall presentation of the great Christological
concerns. The author, who seems to be a well acquainted with the exhibition of the Christological
themes from classical theology, has devoted many hours to the study of modern philosophy. To all of
this, it must be added that Kasper suggests that he approaches the life and work of the Redeemer
with the desire to transmit the received tradition I a living way, "that is, in conjunction and
confrontation with the comments and questions of a particular time." In this way, Kasper seems to
understand his work as a "contemporary transmission of an inheritance from the past and of
responsible commentary on tradition."
This transmission and responsible commentary on tradition must be understood in the context of a
double judgement made by Kasper around Christianity and the philosophical thought. Kasper
suggests that Christianity is in a "transitional state." In terms of philosophical thought, the author
claims that the modern principle of subjective, the process in which "man posits himself as the
starting–point and measure for understanding reality as a whole," is certainly in relation to the
history of Christianity. In this way, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

societies, such as the Mayans and the Incans, have created. Not all advancements were progressive,
however. Some set the world back and made it difficult to recover from. Yet without these failures,
it'd be harder to appreciate the successes that have been accomplished. Ancient history gives the new
generation the privilege to take the current problems of today, and solve them efficiently while
providing concrete evidence as to how similar problems were solved. The study of ancient societies,

How Did The Gaelic League Affect The Irish Dance
When I hear the words "The Gaelic League", I automatically think of the period when the Irish
language was restored in Ireland. I agree with the above statement. The Gaelic League influenced
the promotion of the Irish dance tradition greatly in the 20th century as dance was very important. It
was a massive part of Irish culture and it maintained Irish identity. It was founded by O'Growney
and Douglas Hyde in 1893. It established an agency called "An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha" (the
commission for Irish dances) in 1930. It was set up to promote and standardize Irish traditional
group dancing and solo step–dancing. It organised classes, festivals and competitions. An Coimisiun
is still around today. In this essay, I will discuss the impact the Gaelic League had on Irish dance,
how it spread from Ireland and became global and how it is still very popular today.
There is very little reference of Irish dance before the 20th century. The earliest reference was a
group dance with various different formations. Before the Gaelic League formed, dance classes were
mainly held in rural Munster. There were held simultaneously with language classes. Irish dance
became more popular in Ireland as a result of regular weekly classes, competitions and ceili dances.
Dance was once forbidden in houses of rural Ireland. In Brennan's article, we learn that during the ...

In addition, this new nationalist designation of the form provided a necessary ingredient to the

schools in the 1920s. The dances that were taught were controlled by the league and had to be
"Irish." The league organised competitions called "feiseanna" to promote Irish culture. This also

Compare And Contrast Essay On Alzheimer's '
All shows from the past have gone through a huge changed due to all the modernizing in today's TV
shows. Albeit, the Munster's in their first show since 1964 was a good regalement to the people. This
essay will be comparing and contrasting two of the exhibitions relinquished by "The Munster's" one
in 1964 and the other in 2012: their apparel, their way of interacting with people, and their abode.
The Munster's clothing changes in a dramatic way from their show in 1964 to 2012In the Munsters
Masquerade the characters would wear apparel that wasn't unorthodox to mundane people. Their
habiliments looked old and jaded. Albeit, in Mockingbird Lane the characters were wearing very
elegant cloth compared to their old show. Their cloth in the exhibition plays a sizable voluminous
consequentiality because it represents the character that is playing the role.
Their way of interacting with people showed how different they were in their behavior to normal
humans. The Munsters in their 1964 they would cerebrate that the mundane people verbalized
differently compared how they did. To them, they seemed that they were mundane and that the rest
of the people had a weird looking. The only way they would receive visits was when the mundane

What Is Hans Denck Concerning True Love
Concerning True Love – This work is written by Hans Denck in 1527 and it serves like a mystical,
yet systematic description of certain Anabaptist beliefs. Firstly, he speaks of how love, true love, is a
spiritual gift with God being the perfect example of love in Jesus Christ. No one, Denck says, can
love or even know love without first accepting Christ into their hearts. Denck also utilizes his theory
of love to explain what is meant by the "new law" or "new covenant" in Scripture. While followers
of God were once chained by the Law, Christians are now liberated from the Law because of
Christ's death and resurrection. Also, Denck shows his colors as an Anabaptist by backing the stance
that baptism is not for infants, but for mature believers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Christians of the dangers of greed and the consequences that can occur if one succumbs to that

Social Interview Model
The other day, I stumbled across an interview with a plus sized model on TV. Her name was Tess
Munster and she has become famous for becoming the first size 22 model to sign with a major
modeling agency. Not personally being a fan of the modeling/celebrity world, my excitement was
not very high when I heard this; but she is happy with what she is doing, so congratulations to her.
The interviewer started out by talking about the backlash and negative comments she has received
from the internet about being overweight and a model. (I, personally, have to question the quality of
life a person has who spends most of their spare time on the internet trolling others just to try to
make them feel bad). Munster, during her interview, gave the impression of someone who has come
to embrace the body she has and is very happy with her life. There was one comment that struck a
chord with me, however. The interviewer asked Munster about her thoughts about the health risk
factors associated with excessive weight gain. Munster replied that you do not know what
conditions an individual is going through and health should be a personal issue which does not need
to be shared with the public. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To me, it seemed that the interviewer was hinting around to get a comment about what Munster does
to keep healthy, if anything. However, this interview segment was more of a feel good fluff piece of
journalism, so all of the questions were essentially softballs and the interviewer did not press any
harder for answers to that question. Now I am not able to speculate on how healthy or unhealthy of a
lifestyle she may lead, but unfortunately, an individual's personal health has more of an effect on

Persistent Subcultures
Perhaps the most culturally diverse nation on the globe, the United States is home to a dominant
Anglo–American Protestant culture intermixed and alongside a host of sub–cultures that live and
thrive on US soil. Among these cultures exists an array of distinct form of living all who boast an
identity specific to only that select group. These subcultures exist in a couple different forms;
convergent subcultures and persistent subcultures. First, convergent subcultures intend toward
assimilation with the dominant society through various tactics to include: residential clustering,
adherence to the language, dress, and cultural norms of their native land (Parrillo, 42). Contrarily,
some cultures simply do not assimilate. In these cases, persistent subcultures adhere as much as
possible to their own way of life and resist absorption into the dominant culture (Parrillo, 43).
Among these persistent subcultures within the US are the Amish. The Amish are a sect of the

Some do not even desire to do so, and others, particularly non–White groups, face difficulties in

groups such as the Amish, some Hutterites, and Hasidic Jews reject modernity and insist on

The Rise Of Anabaptism
I, John van Leiden, King of Munster, was a devout Anabaptist for much of my life, and did whatever
I could to spread the ideas that went along with my faith. Throughout my time, I made many
enemies, but I also made alliances that helped to increase the Anabaptist following. I was a feared
ruler, but I did what I believed to be right in order to invoke the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Despite my eventual title as the King of Munster, my life did not start off so nicely. I was born in a
small village just outside of Leiden, in Holland. My mother and I were shunned when we were in
public, seeing as I was born out of wedlock (Arthur 6). Most people did not want to be seen

I quickly solved that problem, and just three months later, I was the supreme leader of the city of
Munster ("John of Leiden"). With my newfound powers, I created many new laws and regulations
that followed the rules laid out in the Bible. I was a strict ruler, anyone who questioned my rule or
refused to follow the biblical law would have to face punishment, because they were out of line.
One of my favorite laws that I put in place brought back an idea from the Old Testament: Polygamy
(Palmer et al. 80). By the time I had made Munster my permanent residence, I already had two
wives, neither of whom know about the other (Arthur 70–71). With polygamy now legal, men were
having competitions to see who could have the most wives, so I took it upon myself to marry
fourteen other women in just over a year because I had to be the best, seeing as I was the king (103).
With all of the new laws that I had created, as well as my harsh punishments for anyone who
disobeyed me, I was a force to be reckoned with. I was so intimidating that Martin Luther, the man
behind the Reformation, told his Protestant followers to join forces with the Catholics they were
trying to separate from, in order to try and stop me (Palmer et al. 80). While I was able to hold onto
control of Munster for a while, eventually opposing forces managed to sneak through the guarded

Impact Of Modernisation Of Ireland
The modernisation of Ireland through the period of 1534–1750 was monumental in the development
of Ireland itself. While it would be impossible to delve into detail of all the occurrences and reforms
that modernised Ireland in this period, it must be acknowledged that the reformation, restoration,
plantations, constitutional changes and various monarch's interests and activities in Ireland greatly
affected the changes in the country. Throughout this essay the focus shall be directed towards
political changes, plantations and Oliver Cromwell's activities in Ireland that led to a modernised

The Irish Potato Famine
Research Paper: Irish Potato Famine
"Beginning in 1845 and lasting for six years, the potato famine killed over a million men, women
and children in Ireland and caused another million to flee the country" (The History Place–
Introduction). During the 1840s many Irish citizens lived in poverty. For food, the Irish relied almost
entirely on potatoes because of their low cost and nutritional value. Then a devastating potato blight
began in Europe in 1845 and destroyed the crops every year until 1851. Due to Ireland's poor
government the citizens we not able to recover from the famine quickly.
Before the famine in the mid–1800s, "many English politicians and social reformers began to think
that Ireland was a nation in need of transformation, that it's people now needed to be yanked into the
modern world by tossing out the old Gaelic traditions" (The History Place–Before the Famine). The
English reformers wanted to end Ireland's "cycle" of poverty and misfortune because in the "1800s
poverty was thought to be caused by bad moral character" (The History Place– Before the Famine).
The English politicians and social reformers also wanted to change the laid–back lifestyle of the
Irish peasants. " They professed the virtues of hard work, thrift and self–reliance and regarded the
Irish as totally lacking in these qualities, a point of view also shared by many British officials and
politicians" (The History Place–Before the Famine).

In 1964 both of these family sitcoms were introduced to us. The Munsters and Addams Family
actually critiqued the suburban family as embodied in the television sitcoms of the 1950s by
undermining its image. These shows portrayed the typical suburban family that included young kids
and family pets, as well as a mother who held the family together. They also questioned the values
and social norms of American families during the 1950s. Just like their ethnic identity, social status
and extended family structure, the Munster and Addams families made us question traditional family
roles. The women of the house break gender rules of the 1960s housewife by looking for
employment outside the home, while the men, even though they work, they always seem to be home

them that being different could also be lovable. That's why young families really enjoyed watching

Sexist Decline to Racism In Jennifer Morgan's article "Some Could Suckle over Their Shoulder":
Male Travelers, Female Bodies, and the Gendering of Racial Ideology, she suggests that sexist
beliefs contributed to the justification of racialized slavery. She proves this by providing accounts of
European explorers describing those they encountered, which at first reveal an admiration for the
strength and beauty they (African women) possessed but later began to associate them with "unholy
beasts". These Europeans lacked the ability to understand the independence of women in the
matriarchal tribes having been blinded by biases learned by living in a patriarchal society. Once
Native Americans and Africans were demonized for their lifestyles and deemed savage, they were
more easily viewed as livestock rather than human beings. It became easier to enslave an entire race
when they decided they were superior to those of a darker skin tone. A frequent source in Morgan's
article is from Richard Ligon and his depiction of his personal encounters with other civilizations.
Upon first meeting a black woman Ligon stated she was "of the greatest beauty and majesty
together: that ever I saw in one woman" (12). He found her physically beautiful and seemed to find

The Conditions Of The Westphalia Treaty Of 1648
The Westphalia treaty of 1648 which ended the Thirty Years War, can be described as one of the
prominent milestones that shaped the principle of state sovereignty. Signed in the western cities of
current day Münster and Osnabrück, Germany. This paper will describe the conditions that made it
necessary for a co–existing agreement in Europe, which would later become the basis of a state's
self–determination and existence. It will also include the implications that the treaty had upon
Europe, and the world. "Under the terms of the peace agreements, the power of the Hapsburgs was
weakened, with the Holy Roman Empire limited in its sphere of influence to Austria and parts of
Germany. France became the dominant power on the continent, and was now bordered by weak,
fragmented states that posed no real threat to its security. Sweden received control of the north
German coast, and the United Provinces of the Netherlands became independent of Spain"
(Raymond, 2005). Gregory Raymond asserts the conditions of the Westphalia Treaty of 1648 to
include territorial dominance, religious acceptance and recognition of a sovereign state. Specifically,
both Sweden and France would be given more land and territories, as well, it provided the Dutch
with independence from Spain and finally; the treaty would decentralize authority by ensuring a
balance of power between states.

What Is Elizabethan Warfare
Elizabethan age – Warfare
While Elizabeth I. ruled as queen there were three great wars: The one against Spain and two
rebellions started by each a Irish Earl, one by Earl Desmond, James Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald, and the
other one by Earl Tyrone, Hugh O'Neill. All wars ended with a good outcome for the British Empire,
for example the the failure of the Desmond Rebellions.
First of, the most important war within Europe of that era. The war between Spain and England,
which also involved fights in the Netherlands, which later were known as Dutch Rebellion. The war
could be forseen at the latest when Queen Elizabeth I. was excommunicated by the Pope 1870, but
also before when the Queen rejected the proposal of the Spanish King, Phillip II.

England at that time didn't have half of this amount of ships, just 34 and over 160 merchant vessels,
which normally could not be used to fight. But with some tricks the English seamen were able to
defeat the whole Spanish Armada.
The war ended after the next king, James I, was proclaimed king. The reasons are simple: He forbid
all privateering and was also a Catholic Monarch. So Elizabeth I could never end the war against
Spain herself because she never intended to do as James I did.
Coming to the next fightings which all were before or during the war against Spain. The first one
were the Desmond Rebellions led by James Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald, Earl of Desmond in the 1870's,
1880's and 1890's. The rebellion was started to free the southern province Munster of Ireland from
the reign of the heretic England.
The first try was from 1869 to 1873 and failed since it was ended with hundreds of rebels executed.

Cross-Sectional Study Design Article Review

  • 1. Cross Sectional Study Essay Cross–Sectional Study Article Review Biostatics is the essential to all functions of public health. Biostatistics interprets the distribution and variation of the data to obtain reliable results and valid conclusions. In Biostatics there are two types of studies that can be done, observational and experimental. One type of observational study is a cross–sectional study. "Cross–sectionals surveys are observational studies conducted at a point in time. A cross–sectional study entails measuring different variables in a target population at a single point in time" (Chamberlain, 2018). The article "Over–indebtedness as a marker of socioeconomic status and its association with obesity: a cross– sectional study" gives us an understanding of a study desgin. Why Cross–Sectional Study There are various reasons why this is a cross–sectional study. To begin with, in this cross–sectional study they are studying a target population during a certain time and the various variables among the target population that have led to their disease state. "Data are collected on the whole study population to examine the relationship between disease (or other health related state) and other variables of interest. Cross–sectional studies therefore provide a snapshot of the frequency of a disease or other health related characteristics in a population at a given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. What Conditions Explain The Creation Of The Westphalia Treaty Part 1) What conditions explain the creation of the Westphalia treaty in 1648? The Westphalia treaty of 1648 which ended the Thirty Years War, can be described as one of the prominent milestones that shaped the principle of state sovereignty. These treaties, both signed in the western cities of current day Münster and Osnabrück, Germany. This paper will describe the conditions that made it necessary for a co–existing agreement in Europe at the time, which would later become the basis of a state's self–determination and existence. It will also include the implications that the treaty had upon Europe, and the world today. The many political principles deriving from the Westphalian treaty would become apparent in modern–day society, whether embraced fully or used as a stepping stone to considering other principles, it would influence the way that international law, politics, and diplomacy would be determined. A state is defined as a legal entity with a permanent population, a well–defined territory, and a government capable of exercising sovereignty. The definition becomes important during this time period of the signing of the Peace Treaty, and for the overall international law for years to come. Gregory Raymond's 2005 Westphalia excerpt describes the events and characteristics of the 1648 Westphalia Treaty by stating that, "[U]nder the terms of the peace agreements, the power of the Hapsburgs was weakened, with the Holy Roman Empire limited in its sphere of influence to ... • 5. Using Kieran O' Conor's Medieval Rural Settlement in... The Anglo–Norman period in Ireland from c. 1169 – c. 1350, like people from Europe are from different social ranks and origins. The evidence researched for this essay will help us understand and focus on can depictions of what the rural landscape in Munster looked like (O'Conor 2004, p. 228). In the past of archaeological research the rural landscape in Munster has been neglected for excavating urban areas in Cork, Limerick and Waterford, however, there have been a few publications on rural landscapes in research years yet evidence is still limited (O'Conor 2004, p. 230). In this essay the features of a manorial landscape in Anglo–Norman and Gaelic–Irish settlements in Munster. The settlements that existed in the countryside of Munster were Anglo–Irish dominated and were from the high medieval period (O'Conor 2004, p. 231). The land that was conquered by theses settlers was then divided into between them into estates which are called manors (O'Conor 2004, p. 232). In the centre of these manors resided a manorial lord most often in different types of castles. These castles divide into large masonry castles such as the Adare castle in county Limerick, or smaller masonry castles which break up into hall–houses, mottes and ringworks (O'Conor 2004, p. 232). These castles also had defensive features made from earth and timber (O'Conor 2004, p. 232) the majority of castles built by Anglo–Normans were made completely of timber and earth. There is no specific figures of castles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. George Whitefield 's The Great Awakening George Whitefield is an individual like no other. He's an individual who made a mark on history. He was an average person who lived to make a major difference and would be one of the most well known individuals to take part in the Evangelical Awakening of the 1700s. It was a time when you saw God's hand in the world like never before. When looking back in history, specifically Christian history, we would say that George Whitefield truly made his mark on history during the evangelical awakening. He was one of the biggest proponents in spreading the word of God, and he was not to go unnoticed. However, how much do we really know about such an important historic event? The Great Awakening is known as a religious revival that swept across the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of these individuals had been baptized as infants, but chose to be baptized again as believing adults. (www.anabaptists.org) Preachers of this unstable ideology of Anabaptism were taking refuge in the Lutheran town of Münster. Among those hiding out were the disciples of Melchior Hoffman. He was a new prophet who had new knowledge of influence after his recent conversion to the Anabaptist movement. He had begun to teach his followers to recognize the signs that would precede the golden age of heaven fifteen centuries after the crucifixion. It didn't take long for these ideas to become a "massive obsession" in the town of Münster. Lutherans and Catholics alike worked hard to teach over him. He was soon arrested due to his revolutionary preaching. In the early sixteenth century, scholars were studying the millennial expectations of the ancient worlds that had become such a radical component for the central institutions of Christendom. Advocates of this new millennial belief appeared after the completion of the New Testament. They argued diverse assumptions of this revolution, but found common roots in Revelation 20:1–10, which states that those who died for defending Jesus would sit at God's right–hand with the power to judge and Satan would be released from his prison and thrown into a fiery lake of burning sulfur where he would be tormented. • 9. The Anabaptist Madness : The Overthrow Of Munster, The... Jak Kramer GH 301 Apocalypse Source Explication For my primary source, I decided to choose a letter found in Narrative of the Anabaptist Madness: The Overthrow of Munster, the Famous, Metropolis of Westphalia by Hermann von Kerssenbrock. Although this was a letter in a book written by Herman von Kerssenbrock, it was actually written by Bernard Rothman; a radical preacher that strained the boundaries of what religious reformed looked like at that time. Rothman was born in Swabisch Hall around 1495 in southwestern Germany. A furrier by trade, Rothman often travelled to different parts Livonia around the Baltic Sea. In the places that Rothman would stop for business, he would also begin to preach radical ideas about need for church reform and Anabaptism in general. Putting a more controversial spin on the teachings of Luther, Rothman would sometimes cause riots in the towns that he stayed in, and because of this, he was often banned from the places he traveled. Eventually, Rothman gained an officially role of preacher in Stockholm in 1527, but he was soon expelled from their as well for his radical preaching. Relocating to and being expelled from places such as Lubek, Denmark, Wittenberg, and East Frisia, Rothman reached out to Luther to receive a letter of commendation. Luther refused to supply Rothman with this based on the fact that he did not agree with Rothman's preaching iconoclasm, his allegorical interpretation of the Eucharist, and, most prominently his apocalyptic ... • 11. Menno Simons : The Regenerator Of The Anabaptist Movement Menno Simons: "He (Menno Simons) was not the founder but is often called the regenerator of the Anabaptist movement. He certainly was its most important leader in the Netherlands during the sixteenth century. Menno assumed leadership during a crucial period in which the Anabaptist movement was in danger of losing its original identity. His prolific writings and moderate leadership were essential in unifying the nonviolent wing of the Dutch Anabaptists and maintaining their peaceful beliefs." Menno Simons was born in 1496 ( His exact birth date is unknown). From early on in life, Menno's parents committed him to the service of the Roman Catholic Church. Therefore, He devoted himself to becoming a Monk, at a Monastery in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "I did not get very far in it (the Scriptures) , before I saw that we had been deceived." Menno began to read Martin Luther's writings, and found himself agreeing with Luther's way of thinking. He found a way to free his conscience and to stop feeling guilty. However it inevitably led him away from the Catholic Church. In making his decision on mass, however, Menno did not follow Luther's teaching. He instead made his own interpretation on the Lords supper. Menno, unlike some reformers, didn't seem to be in too big of a hurry to leave the Catholic Church. He started out only questioning the Mass. He likely thought he could just remain a loyal Catholic and teach his new ideas and point of view to the congregation. However, he was met with great opposition, as can well be expected. (Bender, 05) "Menno's progress of the Gospel was slow. One pillar of his Catholic faith had broken down, namely the mass, but he continued nevertheless, out of fear of men, to celebrate the mass as before". Outwardly, he may have looked like a priest, but inwardly he truly didn't believe in the rituals that he was doing. "He may never have left the Church, had it not been for the second pillar in his Catholic faith also broke down, the pillar of baptism." It wasn't something that happened overnight, It was a gradual process. It's quite possible that the beginning of the breaking down of this pillar began with Menno reading a book written by a preacher who advocated the idea ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Hubert Berke Research Paper The prolific German painter Hubert Berke was born in 1908 in Buer and died in 1979 in Cologne. Before his transition into fine arts, Berke educated himself in languages, later studying philosophy, art history and theology at universities in Münster and Königsberg (1931–2). After a year of education under the painter Fritz Burmann at the Academy of Fine Arts, Berke left Königsberg for Düsseldorf, where he was a student of Paul Klee. Both in his oils and watercolors, Berke was oscillating between Informel painting and the modernist traditions from cubism and abstraction, to expressionism. • 19. The Faerie Queene By Edmund Spenser Analysis This week's lecture is on "The Faerie Queene" by Edmund Spenser. This lecture focuses on Edmund Spenser's life, the sources and influences that created Book I of "The Faerie Queene", themes, devices, and meaning, purpose of Book I, and "The Legend of the Knight of the Red Cross". Edmund Spenser was born in 1552 to a modest family of modest means with a similar background such as Marlowe and Shakespeare. Spenser was a well–educated man much like Marlowe. Spenser spent his first years of education at the Merchant Taylors' School before attending university. Edmund Spenser would go on to receive a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Arts from Cambridge University. After university, Spenser would begin a career as a minor civil servant where he was a personal secretary to men of power and influence. His work would lead him to a few minor colonial government posts in Ireland. Afterwards, Edmund Spenser was bestowed a castle and 3,000 acres of land in Munster, Ireland. However, the castle was burned down into a rebel uprising. This was due to Spenser being disrespectful of the Irish and their religion. Edmund Spenser would then go on to be a poet. He was creative and adventurous when it came to his work. His greatest works are "The Shepheardes Calendar" and "The Faerie Queene". Spenser became a great influence to several poets such as Milton and other romantics. In the end, Edmund Spenser became one of the greatest English poets of his time. "The Faerie Queene" is similar to works of Beowulf because of its Anglo–Saxon epics. Also, Book I has a hint of classical and renaissance adventures. "The Faerie Queene" is a perfect combination of themes and motifs that was already introduced in other assignments. This makes Spenser's "The Faerie Queene" an epic poem. An epic poem is described as a long narrative in elevated style while presenting characters of high positions in adventures thus forming an organic whole through their relation to a central heroic figure and their development of events that play an important part to the history of a nation or race. The common characteristics of the main character is that the hero is played by a person of importance such who would have a historical or legendary significance. The ... • 23. Thomas Müntzer: False Teachers Of The Reformation With the Reformation came a number of leaders with many different theologies and ideas. Some worked so hard and risked so much that whether one agreed with their views or not, their effort and sacrifice demand respect. Others, however, became disillusioned, aggressive, or used this period of religious tension to their own advantage. Melchoir Hoffman, originally a Lutheran lay missionary, converted to Anabaptism before preaching well beyond both groups' beliefs. The uneducated man "predicted" the end of the world, claiming to be the prophet Elijah. Traveling from Strasbourg to Münster, he gained Dutch followers, who took over Münster in 1533. Müntzer began his involvement in the Reformation on the right foot– as a priest, who, devoted to the scriptures, found his own answers, and was appointed preacher in Zwickau on the recommendation of Martin Luther himself. However, his tendency to attack the lifestyles of the rich and powerful from the pulpit led to the loss of this position. He continued to preach politically controversial sermons, traveling across the continent, and getting banned from each city he preached in. Believing the common people's "inner light" to trump the authority of scripture, he created the "League of the Elect," a peasant army to bring about his Christian theocracy by force. Their rallying cry was "the godless must be destroyed." Luther denounced Müntzer, who made an alliance with preacher Henry Pfeiffer. Telling the peasants that bullets could not hurt them because God was on their side, he caused the deaths of countless peasants. He was arrested, tried, tortured and beheaded for his involvement with the Peasants' Revolt in 1525. Choi summarized the science behind the laser treatments: Lasers treat acne in two possible ways. At certain wavelengths– or colors–lasers go into the skin tissue and generate oxygen radicals, which kill the bacteria and reduce inflammation. At other wavelengths, lasers are basically heat sources that reduce sebum [an oily substance produced by certain skin glands] production by killing and reducing the number of sebaceous glands. Jock Sturges Essay Jock Sturges, born in 1947 in New York, is an American photographer whose works, alongside Sally Mann or Joseph Szabo, may be one of the most intimate portraits of adolescence and youth. • 29. Power Of The Druids The Power of the Druids In the Irish religion called druidism, the druids were extremely powerful, so powerful it seems that they even had to name the religion based upon these men and women of such high rank. Often called wizards, their powers were virtually limitless. Ranging from divination to creating potions to chanting spells, the druids were respected and, most likely, feared. Other than the magical abilities the druids possessed, they were also the "exclusive possessors of whatever learning was then known" (Joyce 44), meaning that they possessed all knowledge. Thus, they had even more power over the people because they were relied upon for information. Concerning their magic, the druids used it under many different circumstances and their interference greatly affected the outcome of a story. It is helpful to use and analyze specific examples of druids in stories to understand the mystical ways they wield their magic. In the story entitled "Lord and Lady of the Wheel: the Careers of Mog Roith and Tlachtga", the vastness of a druid's power is well represented. Though known as a druid "of wisdom and knowledge" (Matthews 189), these are not the druidic traits of Mog Roith developed in the myth. In the first place, Mog Roith does not simply appear out of thin air or without any purpose, but he is called upon by King Fiacha of Munster to aid in the battle against Cormac mac Art. Ireland In 1494 In its strenuous efforts to subject Ireland to English Rule, the English government strategized on how to most effectively surrender the Irish people to its supreme governance. One of the most influential if not destructive methods was the implementation of Poynings Law in 1494, which under its terms maintained that all Irish Bills be submitted by the English chief governor in Ireland to the King and Privy Council by way of the English Parliament. Only Bills that were subsequently approved and returned to Ireland under the Great Seal of England could be presented to the Irish parliament. The purpose of this bill followed a number of other direct changes to Ireland that stemmed from King Henry II and King Henry VIII and their momentous wish to rescue Ireland from the decades of neglect England had subjugated the state collectively to, up until the sixteenth century. The original purpose of the passage of the law in 1494 had been to to curb the independence of Ireland's Anglo–Norman chief governors. However, it became most destructive because ... Walter Kasper's Jesus The Christ Among the numerous works that are dedicated to the study of Christological and soteriological themes, the work of Walter Kasper, Jesus the Christ, stands out with a vigor and character. This work is considered, in itself, an outline of the overall presentation of the great Christological concerns. The author, who seems to be a well acquainted with the exhibition of the Christological themes from classical theology, has devoted many hours to the study of modern philosophy. To all of this, it must be added that Kasper suggests that he approaches the life and work of the Redeemer with the desire to transmit the received tradition I a living way, "that is, in conjunction and confrontation with the comments and questions of a particular time." In this way, Kasper seems to understand his work as a "contemporary transmission of an inheritance from the past and of responsible commentary on tradition." This transmission and responsible commentary on tradition must be understood in the context of a double judgement made by Kasper around Christianity and the philosophical thought. Kasper suggests that Christianity is in a "transitional state." In terms of philosophical thought, the author claims that the modern principle of subjective, the process in which "man posits himself as the starting–point and measure for understanding reality as a whole," is certainly in relation to the history of Christianity. I agree with the above statement. The Gaelic League influenced the promotion of the Irish dance tradition greatly in the 20th century as dance was very important. It was a massive part of Irish culture and it maintained Irish identity. It was founded by O'Growney and Douglas Hyde in 1893. It established an agency called "An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha" (the commission for Irish dances) in 1930. It was set up to promote and standardize Irish traditional group dancing and solo step–dancing. It organised classes, festivals and competitions. An Coimisiun is still around today. In this essay, I will discuss the impact the Gaelic League had on Irish dance, how it spread from Ireland and became global and how it is still very popular today. There is very little reference of Irish dance before the 20th century. The earliest reference was a group dance with various different formations. Before the Gaelic League formed, dance classes were mainly held in rural Munster. There were held simultaneously with language classes. Irish dance became more popular in Ireland as a result of regular weekly classes, competitions and ceili dances. Dance was once forbidden in houses of rural Ireland. Albeit, the Munster's in their first show since 1964 was a good regalement to the people. This essay will be comparing and contrasting two of the exhibitions relinquished by "The Munster's" one in 1964 and the other in 2012: their apparel, their way of interacting with people, and their abode. No one, Denck says, can love or even know love without first accepting Christ into their hearts. Denck also utilizes his theory of love to explain what is meant by the "new law" or "new covenant" in Scripture. Munster, during her interview, gave the impression of someone who has come to embrace the body she has and is very happy with her life. There was one comment that struck a chord with me, however. Among these cultures exists an array of distinct form of living all who boast an identity specific to only that select group. These subcultures exist in a couple different forms; convergent subcultures and persistent subcultures. First, convergent subcultures intend toward assimilation with the dominant society through various tactics to include: residential clustering, adherence to the language, dress, and cultural norms of their native land (Parrillo, 42). Contrarily, some cultures simply do not assimilate. In these cases, persistent subcultures adhere as much as possible to their own way of life and resist absorption into the dominant culture (Parrillo, 43). One of my favorite laws that I put in place brought back an idea from the Old Testament: Polygamy (Palmer et al. 80). By the time I had made Munster my permanent residence, I already had two wives, neither of whom know about the other (Arthur 70–71). With polygamy now legal, men were having competitions to see who could have the most wives, so I took it upon myself to marry fourteen other women in just over a year because I had to be the best, seeing as I was the king (103). However, a retired orthopedic surgeon states that while people of all ages can suffer pain, "individuals over age 60 are more likely to suffer from pain related to degeneration of the joints in the spine" (Ullrich). Another commercial that aired during the rerun of The Munsters highlights a government program designed to help homeowners pay off their mortgage with less anxiety. By middle or old age, many adults will have owned their homes for years, if not decades. Given the economic recessions of 2007 and 2010, mortgage payments are a significant worry that adults face as they get older. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. White Suburbia In The 1960's The social and cultural movements of the 1960s began to upset the traditional "norms" of gender constructs, family and social structures, racial biases, and portrayals of white suburbia that existed in the 1950s. Many social movements were taking place in the US while the Vietnam war going on. In early 1960 black college students in Greensboro, North Carolina sat in on a "white's only" lunch counter, as similar sit–ins began to happen in other southern cities too. One year later the Freedom Rides that supported integration in transportation, started taking place on buses. In late 1963, men and women gathered in Washington DC for a "March on Washington" protest where they fought for freedom, justice and equality, and expressed concerns over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1964 both of these family sitcoms were introduced to us. The Munsters and Addams Family actually critiqued the suburban family as embodied in the television sitcoms of the 1950s by undermining its image. These shows portrayed the typical suburban family that included young kids and family pets, as well as a mother who held the family together. They also questioned the values and social norms of American families during the 1950s. Just like their ethnic identity, social status and extended family structure, the Munster and Addams families made us question traditional family roles. The women of the house break gender rules of the 1960s housewife by looking for employment outside the home, while the men, even though they work, they always seem to be home all the time. The shows made parts of the counterculture safe for the television audience, assuring them that being different could also be lovable. That's why young families really enjoyed watching these shows because they realized that it was okay to be different and still be considered normal. Both sitcoms also offered comfort that the deviance, the not so perfect nature of real families was not really that strange at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Some Could Suckle Over Their Shoulder By Jennifer Morgan... Stephanie Malena Hist B17a TR 1:00 – 2:35pm September 26, 2017 Sexist Decline to Racism In Jennifer Morgan's article "Some Could Suckle over Their Shoulder": Male Travelers, Female Bodies, and the Gendering of Racial Ideology, she suggests that sexist beliefs contributed to the justification of racialized slavery. She proves this by providing accounts of European explorers describing those they encountered, which at first reveal an admiration for the strength and beauty they (African women) possessed but later began to associate them with "unholy beasts". These Europeans lacked the ability to understand the independence of women in the matriarchal tribes having been blinded by biases learned by living in a patriarchal society. Once Native Americans and Africans were demonized for their lifestyles and deemed savage, they were more easily viewed as livestock rather than human beings. It became easier to enslave an entire race when they decided they were superior to those of a darker skin tone. A frequent source in Morgan's article is from Richard Ligon and his depiction of his personal encounters with other civilizations. Upon first meeting a black woman Ligon stated she was "of the greatest beauty and majesty together: that ever I saw in one woman" (12). He found her physically beautiful and seemed to find her ... • 71. The Conditions Of The Westphalia Treaty Of 1648 The Westphalia treaty of 1648 which ended the Thirty Years War, can be described as one of the prominent milestones that shaped the principle of state sovereignty. Signed in the western cities of current day Münster and Osnabrück, Germany. This paper will describe the conditions that made it necessary for a co–existing agreement in Europe, which would later become the basis of a state's self–determination and existence. It will also include the implications that the treaty had upon Europe, and the world. "Under the terms of the peace agreements, the power of the Hapsburgs was weakened, with the Holy Roman Empire limited in its sphere of influence to Austria and parts of Germany. France became the dominant power on the continent, and was now bordered by weak, fragmented states that posed no real threat to its security. Sweden received control of the north German coast, and the United Provinces of the Netherlands became independent of Spain" (Raymond, 2005). Gregory Raymond asserts the conditions of the Westphalia Treaty of 1648 to include territorial dominance, religious acceptance and recognition of a sovereign state. Specifically, both Sweden and France would be given more land and territories, as well, it provided the Dutch with independence from Spain and finally; the treaty would decentralize authority by ensuring a balance of power between states. The long–existing violence initiated by wars and conflict in Europe at this time were not only due to religious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is Elizabethan Warfare Elizabethan age – Warfare While Elizabeth I. ruled as queen there were three great wars: The one against Spain and two rebellions started by each a Irish Earl, one by Earl Desmond, James Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald, and the other one by Earl Tyrone, Hugh O'Neill. All wars ended with a good outcome for the British Empire, for example the the failure of the Desmond Rebellions. First of, the most important war within Europe of that era. The war between Spain and England, which also involved fights in the Netherlands, which later were known as Dutch Rebellion. The war could be forseen at the latest when Queen Elizabeth I. was excommunicated by the Pope 1870, but also before when the Queen rejected the proposal of the Spanish King, Phillip II. Because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... England at that time didn't have half of this amount of ships, just 34 and over 160 merchant vessels, which normally could not be used to fight. But with some tricks the English seamen were able to defeat the whole Spanish Armada. The war ended after the next king, James I, was proclaimed king. The reasons are simple: He forbid all privateering and was also a Catholic Monarch. So Elizabeth I could never end the war against Spain herself because she never intended to do as James I did. Coming to the next fightings which all were before or during the war against Spain. The first one were the Desmond Rebellions led by James Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald, Earl of Desmond in the 1870's, 1880's and 1890's. The rebellion was started to free the southern province Munster of Ireland from the reign of the heretic England. The first try was from 1869 to 1873 and failed since it was ended with hundreds of rebels executed. Also all the Lords who supported Earl Desmond were exiled.
