Chipotle Crisis Summary
Chipotle inappropriately handled this crisis because CEO Steve Ells and Co–CEO Monty Moran
blamed the Center for Disease Control and the media for exaggerating the outbreak. Creating a
public perception of Chipotle's board members who did not showcase a clear motive for public
health safety. After the E. coli outbreak, Moran made statements to Chipotle's investors at an
industry conference: "The media likes to write sensational headlines, you'll probably see, you know,
when somebody sneezes, Ah, it's E. coli from Chipotle" (Colvin, 2015). Moran made another
statement on Twitter 'saying' "CDC is working in an unorthodox way" (Wohl, 2015). Moran's
arrogant comments reflected a quality of an unconcerned CEO in the eyes of the public. In one of

What has Accenture done well to target its B–to–B audience?
Accenture as part of Anderson consulting created brand awareness in professional services through

opinion of Disney World and her experience when she went to visit. She made comments on the fact
that family is the basic social unit, everything is too safe and not enough of the real world, and they
charge too much and try to entice consumers to an extreme extent. She responds very negatively to
these facts but as a Disney Spokesperson, I am here to view these as a positive part of Disney World.

The Invention Of The Television And Internet
What exactly is remix? Remix is the creation of a new or derivative piece of art through the
alteration, modification, or transformation of elements of the original. A remix is a piece of art that
may have had items added, appropriated, or removed. Remix is everywhere and is nothing new in
public space. People have been doing it for hundreds of years by altering paintings and other artistic
art pieces. The advent of new technology and different forms of media have allowed people to remix
in entirely different ways, utilizing new techniques, materials, and ideas. The popularization of the
television and Internet has allowed digital forms of remix, previously impossible or only attainable
for a small niche of the public. Though Banksy, Electronic Disturbance Theater, and the Yes Men
group have taken advantage of digital forms of remix through different means, the Yes Men group
has remixed public space the best. Artists often put their work in the public domain or space, but
what exactly is that? Public space is just that, locations accessible to the public with the most
general being out on the streets, places accessible or viewable to anyone without discrimination.
They are visible to anyone who has the means of getting to the place, charges no fees, and is open to
everyone. This type of space encompasses sides of buildings exposed to the street, parks, and open
spaces such as plazas. Another type of public space includes privately owned public spaces. These

The Reason That Chip Wilson Plunged Lululemon Into Crisis
Analysis The reason that Chip Wilson plunged Lululemon into crisis again is because of three major
issues: lack of media training as a spokesperson, lack of comprehensive crisis management plan in
the company, and failure of internal communication. First of all, spokesperson media training is part
of crisis preparation. In this case, lacking media training includes training for a TV interview and
training for filming a video apology. Prior to Chip Wilson's interview with Bloomberg TV, managers
from the PR department should have conducted a comprehensive media training to Wilson. Topics
cover from diagnosing company's vulnerabilities, to preparing for difficult questions, to how to
utilize chances to re–enhance the company's image, and how to risk–averse after a major crisis. As
Wilson's answer caused another crisis, I assume that he was not ready to answer the questions of
sheer pants recall, nor he was ever participated in any media training at all. Erik Bernstein who runs
a crisis management blog noted that some people should never act as spokesperson. In fact, what
surprised me was that as a company's founder and chairman of board, it was Chip Wilson's
responsibility to have a general knowledge about the crisis and what caused the crisis and what
procedures they have taken to solve the crisis. Even though he was never prepared for those
questions beforehand, answers such as "women's bodies don't fit its pants" should have never came
up. This crisis could have been

Crisis Management Plan Essay
Crisis Management Plan For Etihad Airways
Crisis management is an integral part of any company's strategic planning not only to prepare but
also to mitigate the effects of a crisis on business continuity. In this discussion, I will design a crisis
communication plan for Etihad Airways, which is the company that I work for, eight years now. It is
the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and it is based in Abu Dhabi; it is just 12 years old,
and it only operates international routes. Etihad is a government–owned company; however,
organizational wise, it is a semi–governmental entity (Etihad Airways, 2015).
Etihad's crisis management team consists of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. James Hogan; he will
serve as the crisis management team president and the spokesperson of Etihad to the media. Under
the president operates a public relation manager, Mr. Kevin Knight, he is a member of our executive
team and serves as Chief Strategy and Planning Officer; he is also the second ... Show more content

It is a continuous process of decision making and weighting and thinking of the consequences of
each and every move not only in the immediate future but also for the development strategy and
business continuity. Etihad needs to communicate to their internal publics with a shared sense of
responsibility and unity and their external audiences with confirmation on the public safety. Pre–
assigned tasks, a reference source, and well–delegated duties can minimize confusion in times of
crisis.
Having crisis communication plan makes addressing the publics (internally and externally) a
consistent, accurate, and quick process that allows the PR team to communicate, investigate,
organize, and anticipate rather than just

Eleanor Roosevelt Character Analysis
A woman is a lot like a tea bag–you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water." This
is one of Eleanor Roosevelt's famous quotes that demonstrates her character, she believes that
women are powerful people who are more capable of things than they are portrayed to be. Eleanor is
one of the most influential woman in history, she believes in equal rights for all individuals.
Therefore she should be the spokesperson for UNICEF. "UNICEF is a company that works in 190
countries and territories to save children's lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their
potential." UNICEF looks for people like Eleanor. She was bullied and knows what it is like to be
treated unequally, she fights for what's right, and she's selfless.

Emotional Analysis Of The Old Spice Scent Vacation...
We all know a person who looks very confident and put together on the outside, but a conversation
with them reveals that much is lacking in their personality. Similarly, commercials can appear fun or
exciting, but upon further inspection it is greatly lacking in depth. Because of this, creating
commercials is a balance between providing information and keeping the viewers engaged. The
process isn't simply writing a script containing only style and no substance, or one with only
substance and no style. With the former, a commercial could capture the audience's attention, but
provides no supporting information; the latter, provides an excessive amount of information, but
does not seize the viewers. Creating commercials pines for the utmost balance; if the balance is off
by a fraction, it could mean the difference between a million dollars or zero. The Old Spice Scent
Vacation commercial sits atop the pinnacle of this balance. It was made to advertise their new
collection of scents ranging from the scenic beaches of Fiji to the snowy peak of Denali (Mt.
McKinley). The commercial illustrates this balance through the use of emotional appeals, imagery,
and appeals to authority and credibility to convince people of the outlandish benefits of switching to
Old Spice, in terms of confidence and sexual appeal.
Old Spice's use of appealing to certain emotions carries strong effects in this commercial. It evokes
a multitude of feelings, anywhere from anger to lust to joy. The commercial

Food Contamination Issues
Food contamination issues are common in the industry, but they can be dangerous. We are a small
company so minimizing these issues are important since we cannot handle losses as well as larger
companies. An example of a contamination could happen like this: A food contamination issue has
surfaced in New England. One of our potato salad mixtures has been tested positive with bacteria
and already two people have gotten sick from it. So how should we handle a crisis on this level? The
mantra for this plan is honesty, transparency, and liability. The contamination is on us, so we need to
rebuild our brand and reestablish trust. More importantly, we need to work as quickly as possible.

Since the company is conducting an investigation, employees that were on shift during the
production of the contaminated products will be questioned. Suppliers for these products will be
contacted asking them to work with us as we resolve the problem. We will also remain in contact
with the FDA so that we follow protocol. When the source of the contamination is found, proper
measures will be taken so that it does not happen again. If it was a problem during production then
necessary steps will be planned accordingly. On the other hand, if the issue was caused from a
supplier then ties will be cut immediately. Since only a few people were affected by the
contamination we will pay their medical bills and offer our condolences. When contaminations are
on a larger scale only some compensation will be provided. After the investigation is complete and
the contamination is solved, the media will be notified that the company is in the clear. Following
the contamination, the company should work on regaining trust with its consumers. We can provide
deals on products and offer contests with prizes. More importantly, the company should show the
safety of its production facilities through the website and a

The Field Of Management : Henry Mintzberg ( 1971 )
Henry Mintzberg (1971) was the first to study and document how an actual person in a managerial
position operates on a daily basis. He categorized three general roles every manager possesses
Interpersonal skills, Informational roles and Decisional roles, each with sub–sections of there own.
He shadowed five American CEO's studying their day–to–day activities; he discovered that the role
of a manager is highly people concentrated. This essay will discuss three of the sub categories that
really focus on the interaction with people Liaison, Spokesperson and Negotiator. 'Estimates vary
with the level of management, but most managers spend between two–thirds and four–fifths of their
time in face–to–face communication with others' (Williams & McWilliams 2010, p.10)
The Liaison role within the field of management occurs when managers interact on an interpersonal
level with people connected to the firm internally or externally. Communication and networking
skills is key for a manager to hold successful and positive relationships and interactions. As the
business world moves from the local market place onto the global market stage through
globalization and multinational corporations emphasis has been placed on how managers are able
acquire new knowledge externally and incorporate it internally and because of this multinational
corporations now rely heavily on the positions of the Liaison Officer. 'Ideally, the ILO can help
facilitate this process by providing opportunities for

Squealer Dishonest In Animal Farm By George Orwell
Being a follower can be a good thing, but it is mostly bad because you are not showing your true
self. In the novel Animal Farm written by George Orwell, the character of Squealer is traitorous,
dishonest and crafty as he is a spokesperson for Napoleon to the animals. Squealer is traitorous
because he was a spokesperson for Snowball but after Snowball was ousted Squealer became a
spokesperson for Napoleon. Squealer is dishonest because he makes every animal on the farm
believe that Snowball was leagued with Jones from the start. Lastly, Squealer is crafty because when
boxer was not convinced that Snowball was leagued with Jones he said that Napoleon said that
Snowball was leagued with Jones.

things are when Squealer wakes up the animals at twelve o'clock because he fell off of a ladder and

that Squealer was changing the seven commandments by adding more words which explains why
the animals do not remember some of the commandments. Squealer proves to be crafty because
when Boxer did not believe Squealer wen he said that Snowball was leagued with Jones this whole
time Squealer thought of a crafty idea and said "Our leader Comrade Napoleon, has stated
categorically– categorically, comrade–that Snowball was Jones's agent from the very beginning."

Should Eleanor Roosevelt Become A Senator?
"One person can make a difference and everyone should try." –John F. Kennedy. During Eleanor's
life, she had a big impact on people. Adlai Stevenson, the UN ambassador for America at the time,
remembered her as, "the First Lady of the World." UNICEF needs a new spokesperson with
goodwill, after Alyssa Milano has stepped down. Eleanor Roosevelt understands that children need
an advocate. Some people might think that Nelson Mandela should be the spokesperson; but Eleanor
Roosevelt is a better candidate because she is hardworking, makes a difference, and she fights for
rights. Throughout Eleanor's life, she has worked very hard, this is one of the reasons why she
should become the spokesperson for UNICEF. During World War I, Eleanor was hardworking,

(Jacobs 93). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
UNICEF also fights for the same things Eleanor had fought for. Since Eleanor Roosevelt had good
experience in fighting for rights at the United Nations, she can be a great spokesperson for UNICEF.
Some people might still believe that Nelson Mandela should be the spokesperson for UNICEF,
because he fights for equal rights and is against segregation. However, Eleanor Roosevelt is the best
choice for the spokesperson of UNICEF because; she has more experience in being hardworking,
making a difference, and fighting for rights. From being hardworking in fighting for the rights of
people, Eleanor Roosevelt has made a difference in many people's lives. Eleanor and UNICEF stand
for similar things, good education, health care, equal rights, and many more great causes. In
becoming the spokesperson for UNICEF, Eleanor Roosevelt can change and make a difference in
many more lives. She has all of the characteristics and qualifications, to work for UNICEF. This is

Looking At Real World Managerial Skills
The aim of this essay is to look at real world managerial skills and to see how we can relate
Mintzbergs managerial role to real world managerial practice. We will also analyse the extent of
impact organization size and workplace diversity has on the work of the manager interviewed.
According to Mintzberg, management can be classified into three roles, which are the interpersonal
roles, decisional roles, and informational roles (Mintzberg, 1990). In this essay, our focus would be
on Mintzberg informational role, and to see whether it is relevant to real world managerial work.
Through managers interpersonal contacts, managers act as the nerve center of the organization, they
also have access to more information than subordinates do.

For Mr A there will be a monthly sales target for the store, and it's Mr A job to make sure that store

Management is about coordinating and overseeing the work activities of others so that their
activities are completed efficiently and effectively. Henry Mintzberg, a well–known management
researcher, concluded that what managers do can best be described by looking at the managerial
roles they engaged at work (Mintzberg, 1973). Through his research, Mintzberg has identified 10
managerial role from the managers he interviewed, and these three roles can be classified into three:
the decisional roles, informational roles and interpersonal roles. According to Mintzberg, processing
information is a key part of the manager's job (Mintzberg, 1973). Mintzberg indicated that much of
the managerial job involved giving and receiving information. So the informational role is also
interrelated with the interpersonal role (Mintzberg, 1990).
One major part of a manager's duty is to process information. In extensive part, communication is
their work. Three roles describe these informational aspects of managerial work, they are the
disseminator, monitor and spokesperson. Firstly, we will discuss about the role of disseminator.
Disseminator role is where managers communicate potentially useful information to his/her

Chilean Copper Mine Collapse
In August 2010, the world focused on a small copper mine in northern Chile, when it was
discovered that 33 trapped miners were still alive after the mining shaft collapsed. This tragedy
captured audiences of every source of mainstream media around the world. The media reported
updates on the conditions of the trapped miners daily until their rescue in October 2010. People
were drawn to the families of the trapped miners. Because of the magnitude of this unnatural
disaster, audiences worldwide were depending on the reporters to give them every detail possible,

The time frame for the different types of communication depends on the type of information being
given. The frequency could range from hourly updates to the families of the trapped miners to media
coverage only as breaking news occurs.
Conclusion
It is very important to know your audiences specific needs during this type of tragedy. Things to be
considered when communicating to the various audiences are the type of media, demographic of the
audience, and the level of frequency. This situation depended on a spokesperson that is able to
identify needs with the different types of people in the audience and watching around the world.
Knowing your audience is, important in any type of public speaking; however, it is critical during a
crisis because the audience is depending on the spokesperson to inform them in a way they can
understand. The spokesperson is charged with the task of delivering the facts on a need to know
basis while still keeping the general public informed with broad generalized statements. Knowing
your audience not only helps the spokesperson determine which information to release to whom, but
also ensures that priority is given to those living the crisis.

How Does A Man Clean Himself?
How often does a man clean himself? Does he do it much or barely at all? When men are around
each other, they are uncaring about whether or not they look or smell good, but if you were to throw
a female in the mix most men would try to look and smell more decent to impress. I choose to
analyze an AXE advertisement which in itself explains my theory above. Inside the ad provides two
people, a man and a woman, both of them are clearly undressed. In between shows the product the
ad is trying to sell, axe body wash. The man is applying the product to him taking a shower. The
woman on the other hand is not. Instead, the woman is applying whip cream to her chest, and she's
doing it for a reason. I noticed how the creators of the ad placed things how they wanted it to be.
The spokespeople for the ad are both in their early twenties. Both of them are positioned in the exact
same way, but the emotions they show is what gives off a difference. The man's face is relaxed and
calm while the woman's shows an expression of a sexual pleasure. At the bottom of the ad, there is a
sentence that states, "The Cleaner You Are the Dirtier You Get." All of the letters in the sentence
were capitalized. The first part, "The cleaner you are" is below the male spokesperson while the
second part, "the dirtier you get," is under the female spokesperson. What separates the two
spokespeople is the bottle of body wash its advertising. From the VALS index, I believe the

Advertising and Promtion: The Effectiveness of a Spokesperson
Many marketing companies have realized the importance of celebrity endorsement as a marketing

Marketers recognize celebrity's influence the message (brand) companies are trying to convey over
to the consumer and their similarity. Marketer recognized consumers assess input from the
communicator (celebrity) whom may have similar goals, interest or lifestyle with than a person they
do not.
In addition, a celebrity is capable of transferring their image to the product the company advertising.
"Company have taken this opportunity into account and tries through using it as an advertising tool,
to gain a high brand exposure, attention, interest, desire, and action"(D,Chaboet , et. al, 2005). The
effectiveness of a celebrity advertisement taps into consumer interest. Factors associated with
celebrity effectiveness are creditability, knowledge, and truth worthiness and appearance. The
creditability and effectiveness of the message depend on expertness and truth worthiness. A celebrity
with higher credit ability is more effective than a less creditability message. "Advertiser will opt to
use celebrities if they think they have a high level of creditability" ( M, Mohan, et. al, ). Celebrity
knowledge and expertise of the brand plays an important roll on the valid assertions of the brand.
The majority of companies use expert spokesperson when a product and service carry higher

1. The source characteristics are: credibility, attractiveness, likeability, trustworthiness, and
expertise. Having a spokesperson that is credible is most important because it is a composite of the
other characteristics. The Black Eyed Peas are a very popular band, which makes people more likely
to accept a product that they are endorsing. The Black Eyed Peas serving as a spokesperson would
have the same effect as a celebrity. The Black Eyed Peas are attractive and likeable to most people.
Their music is attractive to both young and older generations, which is something that is very hard
to do. They also are physically attractive and ads with a physically attractive spokesperson do better
than a spokesperson that is less physically attractive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Products best suited to be endorsed by the Black Eyed Peas or by rock bands in general would be
products like sodas, cars, electronics, phones, fashion, and sports brands. However, country music
artists have a different target market so I believe that they would be best suited to be endorsed by
brands like trucks, guns and hunting gear. 3. If I were going to design a TV ad for the Black Eyed
Peas about an upcoming concert I would make sure to reach more than just one target market. The
Black Eyed Peas are a well–known band and have been able to appeal to both young adults and
older adults but not elderly so it is important to create a commercial that will appeal to both as well.
As far as the message strategy, I would use affective message strategy because people already know
who they are, now they need to invoke their fans feelings and emotions to make them feel that they
need to go to the concert. The executional framework I'd recommend would be fantasy because you
want to be able to create a commercial that makes them feel that they are actually there. To create
this type of effective ad it would be a good idea to show video from previous concerts then state the

Keeping Cool On The Hot Seat Analysis
Chapters eighteen through thirty–six in Keeping Cool on the Hot Seat by author Judith Hoffman
discusses preparing for and recovering from the press. Getting the correct informational statements
out to the media in a timely and accurate fashion is important to any Crisis Management Team; and
being prepared for any forum of public speaking is vital as one only gets one chance to make a first
impression. In order to begin preparation, it is recommended by Hoffman to begin with
brainstorming to come up with the any and all possible questions that the press corps could possibly

reinforce the major points. Some of the other themes that the author points out include, if it is a false

question to be restated, this will make the spokesperson look incompetent. Don't let the reporter put
your words into another meaning – "so what you are saying..." is a common pitfall to avoid. The

##k Of Personality In Jon Ronson's 'The Spokesperson'
In Jon Ronson's "The Spokesperson," there is a definite lack of respect for Shayler's side of the
argument, making my perception of North's appear more favorable and evoking an ethos appeal to
her emotional re–telling of a brush with death. "Jon Ronson One morning two years ago, Rachel
North, who works in advertising, got on the Piccadilly Line tube at Finsbury Park, in north London."
(Ronson 1). Ronson clearly wanted to provide background information to get you well acquainted
with her and her story. He continues by letting her tell her side of the story, "And it was very hot.
You couldn't breathe at all. The air was just completely thick with smoke. And I was suddenly wet,
completely wet. And I was on the floor. And there were people lying on top of me. And then the
screaming started"(Ronson 1).It is important to listen to the podcast when examining the interview
because in the background of the story, there are violins and soft piano licks adding subconscious
emphasis to the ethos and pathos. As she reflects back on how she handled the experience she tells
us that she, " started pacing about. I was alternately pounding with anger and adrenaline and having
mini flashbacks, then feeling falling over tired. I drank several whiskeys" (Ronson 1). One of the
main things I learned from AP psychology was that cognitive dissonance occurs directly after a
traumatic event. This is because for the brain to cope with such traumatic events, there needs to be
'gap fillers' available to smooth over the stress and allow positive growth. As Ronson began to
transition into the "conspiracy theorists" subject, he makes sure to add choice wording that sets up
your opinion on the theorists early on. "And so Rachel felt uncontrollably compelled to do
something unwise. She decided to jump into the fray, jump into the lives of the internet conspiracy
theorists. She decided to get involved, and try and convince them that their theories weren't true"
(Ronson 1). The word usage "uncontrollably compelled to do something unwise," and "conspiracy
theorists" add to the cushion he has given North, and how he is subtly belittling Shayler. **The
difference between perspective and perception ultimately boils down to, "Perspective is a point of

In the past, knowledge is the most important factor to assist organization in getting success. With the
development of information technology, human beings enter the Information–Explosion Era.
Besides, organizations meet much more new challenges. Information instead of knowledge, getting
more and more important in modern market. The key to survival and building of future dominance is
getting much more information than competitors. Managers from its literal meaning are the persons
who manage others. Therefore, organizations need good managers to help them coordinate team
work and solve problems effectively and efficiently. According to Mintzberg(1973), managers have

Mintzberg(1975) state that a key part of the managers' job is the processing of information. People,
purpose and organization structure consist of structure. No matter managers deal with people or
identify purpose, they always involve information. Managers are neither helpless nor all
powerful(Robbins, Bergman, Stagg & Coulter, 2008). Gibbs(1996) propose that environmental
complexity increase the frequency of informational roles. Besides, Harrison and John(1996) say that
stakeholder relationship can affect other organizational outcomes and performance. The following
case will discuss how manager manage external environment work as informational role. With the
globalization of economy, Hemisphere Hotel(Aus) plan to set up a new hotel in India. Managers of
hotel need to identify the stakeholders who they are. Stakeholders can be customers, competitors or
government. Firstly, managers seek the information from customers, competitors or other
stakeholders and combine with organization internal information. Then, managers share the
information with each other to assess the new project. Next, managers make decision about how
critical each stakeholder. Finally, managers determine the special approach to manage stakeholder.
Stakeholder management is a ability to absorb information and interpret information differently.(

What Does Starbucks Cause An E. Coli Outbreak?
Starbucks has revealed that they recalled one of their sandwich menu from its 1,000 different store
locations after learning that the specific product has been suspected to be contaminated with E.coli
bacteria.
The largest coffee chain has stopped selling its holiday turkey panini after being linked to an E.coli
outbreak. Though there were no reports of infected customers, the food company took the initiative
to recall the sandwich in order to ensure the safety of the consumers.
The Food and Drug Administration of the United States has found that the celery from Taylor Farms
Pacific Inc. caused an E.coli outbreak to the customers of Costco. The said company is also the
supplier of Starbucks which led the coffee company to recall their sandwich product that also
contains celery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the company Erin Jane.
Health officials first observed the bacteria in the chicken salad of Costco. This alarmed the
authorities and ordered for a recall to prevent the consumers from being ill. The health professionals
got more concerned when the test on the chicken salad turned out positive. Five people were
affected and were brought to the hospital due to the E.coli.
The FDA has already extended the recall which included 150,000 other items besides the chicken
salad. The agency is now scrutinizing Costco, 7–Eleven, Target, Albertsons, Safeway and Wal–Mart
Sams Club to see if any of their food products were contaminated.
The E.Coli outbreak began with the restaurants of Chipotle which caused the chain of restaurants to
shut down its 43 different branches because many consumers have been affected.

Leadership Case Study: The Superior Foods
The Superior Foods Case Study discusses the challenges leadership are faced with regarding their
corporation and their employees. The challenge this corporation is faced involves the beef
contamination of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (mad cow disease). "On December 23, 2011,
the U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that bovine spongiform encephalopathy had been
discovered in a Holstein cow in Washington State" (O'Sullivan, 2004). This outbreak caused a
global reaction from the eight countries and the meat processing plants that were a part of the
Superior Food Corporations. The leaders of this corporation had to develop strategies to prevent the
contamination from spreading, and strategies to keep the organization from being affected
financially. This case study was a good example of what typically occurs when meat processing
plants are faced issues due to contamination. The meat contamination caused the corporation to
"shut down production and lay off about 25 percent of their workers" (O'Sullivan"). When
companies have faced with shutting down production, the company must find way to cute revenue.
Since production is shut down, the number of employees that are used on the production are not
required. With the people chatting on blogs and networking site, this would generate questions from
the employees. If I were an employee of Superior Food, I would ask questions that are related to my
employment status, how does the containment effect production, and what

Anti Tobacco Advertisements And Effects On Quitting...
In the article "Recall of Anti–Tobacco Advertisements and Effects on Quitting Behavior: Results
from the California Smokers Cohort" the authors try to research if anti–tobacco television
advertisements with personal message can be recall by the person and have a greater impact on
smoking cessation. The authors felt that this was an important topic to study because they were
concern about the dangers of smoking tobacco. According to Leas et al. (2015) "Nondaily smoking
and second–hand smoke exposure can lead to the same negative health consequences that result
from daily smoking"(p.90). As a result, the authors engage in a cohort study where they use anti–
tobacco advertisements to see which advertisement has a greater recall on smokers, and haves
greater effect on smoking cessation.
The authors engage in a Cohort study, because this study is being observed for a long period of time
and data is being collected from a group of people who are current smokers. The researchers are
testing what happens to the person that has been expose to a particular anti–tobacco ad. There are 4

authors use to answer their research questions was the follow ups and the interviews. These data was

A WORD FROM THE CHAIR
The Public Service of Canada evolves in a world where risks have become increasingly complex
and serious, and this in turn has greatly increased the likelihood of crises or emergencies. The events
linked to the attacks of September 11, 2001 and, more recently, to the Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome (SARS) and the Mad Cow Disease are just a few examples that highlight the important
role the Government of Canada needs to play in managing crises and emergencies. In the big
picture, crises and emergencies are inevitable and it is only a question of time before one or the
other occurs. Federal

often evokes fear and anxiety, not only for the patient, but also for their families and loved ones.

connected to FIFA, the governing body of all football. Nine current or former FIFA figures and five
involved in sports marketing, were connected to wire fraud, racketeering, and money laundering.
They were indicted on suspicion of receiving $150 million in bribes. The investigation focused on
the officials that were bribed for their vote on the host of the next two World Cups that landed in
Russia for 2018 and Qatar for 2022. Soccer federation officials were warned of the intense heat in
Qatar months before Qatar won its bid for the 2022 World Cup. Because of the extreme heat in

In Crisis Management and Communication, Coombs ranks blaming others for the crisis one of the
least accommodative reputation repair strategies. Blatter put the blame on everyone indicted by
stating "I know many people hold me responsible. We, I, cannot monitor everyone all the time. If
people want to do wrong, they will also try to hide it," (ESPN Staff, 2015). He went on to say
"Those who are corrupt in football are in a minority, like in society and must be held responsible for
their actions. Football cannot be the exception to the rule. There can be no place for corruption of
any kind" (ESPN Staff, 2015). Sepp Blatter also blamed the United States for the eight–year ban
awarded to him for violating FIFA's ethics rules when he approved a $2 million payment to then
FIFA Vice President and President of the Union of European Football Associations, Michel Platini.
Blatter stated in a news conference "If we had awarded the World Cup in 2022 to the USA, we
would not be here." (Perez, 2015). Blatter opened the news conference by saying "I regret I am a
punching ball and for my organization I have served with my heart and conscience for 41 years,"
"Specifically I regret for all the team members working in FIFA" (Perez, 2015). There was no
apology for the alleged improper payment from Blatter. "I am not ashamed," Blatter said. "I regret,
but I am not ashamed. I ashamed." The information stated above shows how FIFA ineffectively
managed this crisis by first, having the wrong person speak for the company. Secondly, the President
of FIFA refused responsibility for any of the actions that occurred. Lastly, FIFA failed to repair the
reputation loss by not taking action toward Sepp Blatter's Presidency. The possible long term
consequences of this crisis could result in a loss of major sponsorships. Visa, one of FIFA's biggest

Visual Evaluation and Comparison: Analyzing the Advertisement Industry
The main goal of advertising is to motivate or persuade people to buy a particular product or service,
and among the media used to accomplish this are; radio, television, newspapers, and most
importantly, magazines. In order for advertisements to successfully portray a product, they must be
directed to the appropriate intended audience. In Rolling Stone and YM magazine, there are two
advertisements that display a very attractive person gazing and posing to the viewer. In advertising,
we are bombarded by images that have become standard in defining beauty and what is acceptable,
and we often don't realize it. In both of the ads, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the second ad, YM has offered its own mobile service an "extreme makeover." The girl portrayed
in this is an animated girl holding a red ymobile phone on the bottom of the ad. There are graphics
on the bottom of the ad surrounding the red cellular phone that display some of the options that the
consumer can purchase such as: college graphics, accessories, screen savers, games, etc. All
throughout the rest of the ad is text with some graphics and a very colorful background. The text is
simply listing the new improvements to the ymobile device. It lists the new ring tones, how easy the
improvements are, the new content, and much more. The logo is the bullet for each one of these
topics on the list to remind the viewer exactly what and whose product they are buying. On the right
side of the ad, there is a list of all of the songs that the viewer can download and have as their ring
tone. The background is very colorful, easily targeting a young teenage girl who probably is in the
middle to upper middle class who could afford all of these accessories to go along with their phone.
The background color is a mixture of dark and light purple with a light green blotted on random
places. This almost makes the ad look like a cartoon in a way and not trying to sell something.
Advertising has come to conform to a strict set of codes about beauty. A

Essay on Role of Women in Things Fall Apart
Role of Women in Things Fall Apart Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart gives us a vivid description
of the Igbo culture through the stories of Okonkwo and his village, Umuofia. In regards to Igbo
culture, contributions of women cannot be ignored. Although their position and status seems to be
underestimated by the people in the novel, women do play an important role in the Igbo culture in
four aspects: women take care of the children, do all the housework, serve as priestesses, and build
relationships with other villages. Women who are mothers take the responsibility to care for the
children. In tribal culture, women undertake the mission of educating the children through
storytelling. One example is Ezinma's mother, Ekwefi, who tells her ... Show more content on

Such examples can be found anywhere in the novel. The author describes those scenes to show the
work that is done by women and their importance to the village. Besides housework in daily lives,
Okonkwo's wives also need to prepare some events. For example, the author writes "Okonkwo's
wives had scrubbed the walls and the huts with red earth until they reflected light" (p. 34). This
example shows how Okonkwo's wives get prepared for the Feast of the New Yam. The Feast of the
New Yam is the most important festival in the village, so the significance of women's work is shown
by preparing the festival. Hence, women play an critical role not only in daily lives, but also in
village events. Women like Chielo who are priestesses play an important role in the religious life.
Chielo, the priestess, is a spokesperson for one of the Igbo gods, Agbala. Achebe writes in the novel,
"But Chielo...went on shouting that Agbala wanted to see his daughter" (p. 90). In this example,
Chielo is no longer Ekwefi's friend whom she often talks with, but a spokesperson becomes
possessed by Agbala. A priestess is very powerful in Igbo culture. People regard the words through a
priestess's mouth as oracles. Therefore, God's spokesperson is actually the spiritual leader of the
people who hold in awe and veneration. No one can challenge Chielo's authority in front of their
god. The novel describes Okonkwo's failure to prevent his daughter Ezinma from

Essay on Pre-campaign Analysis: Old Spice Brand Image
Pre–campaign Analysis
Research
Research is a crucial step in determining the problem or issue faced by the organisation (Gregory,
2000). Old Spice conducted their research and found that the brand's image was fading away along
with their sales at the start of 2010 (Rowe, n.d.). The image that the public had in mind was that Old
Spice's products were something their "grandfathers" would buy and use (Effie Awards, 2011). Sales
had dropped due to the increased number of competitors for body wash products (Rowe, n.d.). So,
what Old Spice needed to do was to come up with a plan to change the public's perception towards
the brand which will thus change the brand image and increase sales.
Goals & objectives As mentioned in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spokesperson
The company engaged a new spokesperson to represent their brand. Old Spice needed to change
their "grandfather" image by getting a spokesperson that was younger and had more "swagger" than
their previous spokesperson, Fabio (Effie Awards, 2011). So, Isaiah Mustafa became the official
non–staff spokesperson for the brand. Old Spice wanted a representative who could be accepted and
loved by both men and women and Isaiah Mustafa was the answer to that (Marketing Conference
Services, 2011).
Strategies
Old Spice developed a few strategies to revamp the brand image. First, they decided to create 3 lines
of product, each with different features (Marketing Conference Sevices, 2011.). They then roped in
the award–winning advertising agency, Wieden + Kennedy to aid the company in developing their
media campaign. Wieden + Kennedy were known for coming up with Nike's "Just Do It" campaign
(Baboushkin, 2013). Old Spice, with the advice of Wieden + Kennedy then decided to air their ads
on Youtube during the Superbowl weekend to create a "Superbowl impact" (Effie Awards, 2011).
Their next move was to air the ads on television. With both the online and TV ads, Old Spice wanted
to maintain certain traits associated with the brand such as the trademark whistle at the end of ads
but at the same time to revamp the ad by adding in some "clever writing and picture–perfect casting"
and developing a good story with

The Correspondent as Spokesperson and Mediator in Stephen...
The Correspondent: the Spokesperson and the Mediator in Stephen Crane’s “The Open
Boat” Stephen Crane’s “The Open Boat” has long been acclaimed as a
fascinating exemplar of Naturalism, generating many studies that range from the indifference of
Nature to the “psychological growth of the men through the experience” (466). The
psychological growth happens to every man on the boat, yet is mostly depicted through the voice of
the Correspondent and in the form of his questioning and contemplating their desperate situation.

So while the Correspondent, after the hope of the life– saving station crashes, realizes the
indifference and unconcern of the universe, the captain likewise makes the command to jump clear
of the boat and “the other silently acquiesced”(483). Even the Oiler, portrayed so far as
the most skilled rower and the one most assured of himself, discards the false expectations and
meaningless guesses, for he has also gone through the journey and come to the place where he, like
the others, understands that no power but himself and his fellowmen can save themselves. The four
boatmen, vocal or not, dead or alive, “could then be the interpreters” (487) of the sea–
the Nature– in the end. As the mediator of the inside and outside worlds, the Correspondent also
assumes an interlocutor by taking on a dialogue with something invisible and perhaps beyond, be it
Nature or Fate. The dialogue is one– sided, for the “invisible” never responds:
“If I am going to be drowned– if I am going to be drowned– if I am going to be drowned,
why, in the name of the seven mad gods who rule the sea, was I allowed to come thus far and
contemplate sand and trees?”(477) In this half– question and half– assertion, all
“I” can be replaced by “we”, referring to the four men, because the danger

Crisis Management
Crisis management Once a crisis happens in an organization, the nature of the activities undertaken
to respond to a major threat to the organization is what is referred to as the crisis management. The
management of crisis such as the one in the case study on the copper mine collapse includes
identifying the nature of the crisis and coming up with an appropriate plan to deal with it as the
organization minimizes the damages and ultimately recovering from the crisis. Here there is a lot of
focus that is directed towards the public relations to recover any public image damage suffered
during the crisis as you assure the stakeholders of the recovery. Considerations in this crisis
management There are ten fundamental steps to consider in such a magnitude of crisis as it involves
potential life threatening conditions, as noted below (Khera Communications, Inc. 2009): 1. Have a
comprehensive plan. The mine management should have a comprehensive plan that will enable the
organization to get out of the crisis. The plan should be one that is able to address any bespoke and
random vulnerabilities within the industry. 2. Crisis identification Identify the crisis as soon as
possible once it happens and move fast towards finding a corrective measure. There are three golden
rules in PR crisis communication that are fundamental in crisis control; as soon as a crisis happens,
Tell it all, Tell it fast and Tell it honestly. This consideration will control the flow of the

Chipotle Crisis Summary

  • 1. Chipotle Crisis Summary Chipotle inappropriately handled this crisis because CEO Steve Ells and Co–CEO Monty Moran blamed the Center for Disease Control and the media for exaggerating the outbreak. Creating a public perception of Chipotle's board members who did not showcase a clear motive for public health safety. After the E. coli outbreak, Moran made statements to Chipotle's investors at an industry conference: "The media likes to write sensational headlines, you'll probably see, you know, when somebody sneezes, Ah, it's E. coli from Chipotle" (Colvin, 2015). Moran made another statement on Twitter 'saying' "CDC is working in an unorthodox way" (Wohl, 2015). Moran's arrogant comments reflected a quality of an unconcerned CEO in the eyes of the public. Inside The Mouse Analysis Hannah Aldrich Mrs. Fullingim Comp 2 Tuesday 11 February 2018 Disney Spokesperson In the essay From Inside the Mouse: Work and Play at Disney World, the writer, Anna Willis voices her opinion of Disney World and her experience when she went to visit. She made comments on the fact that family is the basic social unit, everything is too safe and not enough of the real world, and they charge too much and try to entice consumers to an extreme extent. She responds very negatively to these facts but as a Disney Spokesperson, I am here to view these as a positive part of Disney World. Despite Willis's opinion of Disney World, I believe that Disney is family focused, the happiest place on earth, and is invested in their consumers. The first opinion ... • 10. The Invention Of The Television And Internet What exactly is remix? Remix is the creation of a new or derivative piece of art through the alteration, modification, or transformation of elements of the original. A remix is a piece of art that may have had items added, appropriated, or removed. Remix is everywhere and is nothing new in public space. People have been doing it for hundreds of years by altering paintings and other artistic art pieces. The advent of new technology and different forms of media have allowed people to remix in entirely different ways, utilizing new techniques, materials, and ideas. The popularization of the television and Internet has allowed digital forms of remix, previously impossible or only attainable for a small niche of the public. Though Banksy, Electronic Disturbance Theater, and the Yes Men group have taken advantage of digital forms of remix through different means, the Yes Men group has remixed public space the best. Artists often put their work in the public domain or space, but what exactly is that? Public space is just that, locations accessible to the public with the most general being out on the streets, places accessible or viewable to anyone without discrimination. They are visible to anyone who has the means of getting to the place, charges no fees, and is open to everyone. This type of space encompasses sides of buildings exposed to the street, parks, and open spaces such as plazas. Another type of public space includes privately owned public spaces. These types of ... • 12. The Reason That Chip Wilson Plunged Lululemon Into Crisis Analysis The reason that Chip Wilson plunged Lululemon into crisis again is because of three major issues: lack of media training as a spokesperson, lack of comprehensive crisis management plan in the company, and failure of internal communication. First of all, spokesperson media training is part of crisis preparation. In this case, lacking media training includes training for a TV interview and training for filming a video apology. Prior to Chip Wilson's interview with Bloomberg TV, managers from the PR department should have conducted a comprehensive media training to Wilson. Topics cover from diagnosing company's vulnerabilities, to preparing for difficult questions, to how to utilize chances to re–enhance the company's image, and how to risk–averse after a major crisis. As Wilson's answer caused another crisis, I assume that he was not ready to answer the questions of sheer pants recall, nor he was ever participated in any media training at all. Erik Bernstein who runs a crisis management blog noted that some people should never act as spokesperson. In fact, what surprised me was that as a company's founder and chairman of board, it was Chip Wilson's responsibility to have a general knowledge about the crisis and what caused the crisis and what procedures they have taken to solve the crisis. Even though he was never prepared for those questions beforehand, answers such as "women's bodies don't fit its pants" should have never came up. This crisis could have been ... • 14. Crisis Management Plan Essay Crisis Management Plan For Etihad Airways Crisis management is an integral part of any company's strategic planning not only to prepare but also to mitigate the effects of a crisis on business continuity. In this discussion, I will design a crisis communication plan for Etihad Airways, which is the company that I work for, eight years now. It is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and it is based in Abu Dhabi; it is just 12 years old, and it only operates international routes. Etihad is a government–owned company; however, organizational wise, it is a semi–governmental entity (Etihad Airways, 2015). Etihad's crisis management team consists of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. James Hogan; he will serve as the crisis management team president and the spokesperson of Etihad to the media. Under the president operates a public relation manager, Mr. Kevin Knight, he is a member of our executive team and serves as Chief Strategy and Planning Officer; he is also the second ... Etihad needs to communicate to their internal publics with a shared sense of responsibility and unity and their external audiences with confirmation on the public safety. Pre– assigned tasks, a reference source, and well–delegated duties can minimize confusion in times of crisis. Having crisis communication plan makes addressing the publics (internally and externally) a consistent, accurate, and quick process that allows the PR team to communicate, investigate, organize, and anticipate rather than just ... This is one of Eleanor Roosevelt's famous quotes that demonstrates her character, she believes that women are powerful people who are more capable of things than they are portrayed to be. Eleanor is one of the most influential woman in history, she believes in equal rights for all individuals. Therefore she should be the spokesperson for UNICEF. "UNICEF is a company that works in 190 countries and territories to save children's lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential." UNICEF looks for people like Eleanor. • 18. Emotional Analysis Of The Old Spice Scent Vacation... We all know a person who looks very confident and put together on the outside, but a conversation with them reveals that much is lacking in their personality. Similarly, commercials can appear fun or exciting, but upon further inspection it is greatly lacking in depth. Because of this, creating commercials is a balance between providing information and keeping the viewers engaged. The process isn't simply writing a script containing only style and no substance, or one with only substance and no style. With the former, a commercial could capture the audience's attention, but provides no supporting information; the latter, provides an excessive amount of information, but does not seize the viewers. Creating commercials pines for the utmost balance; if the balance is off by a fraction, it could mean the difference between a million dollars or zero. The Old Spice Scent Vacation commercial sits atop the pinnacle of this balance. It was made to advertise their new collection of scents ranging from the scenic beaches of Fiji to the snowy peak of Denali (Mt. McKinley). The commercial illustrates this balance through the use of emotional appeals, imagery, and appeals to authority and credibility to convince people of the outlandish benefits of switching to Old Spice, in terms of confidence and sexual appeal. Old Spice's use of appealing to certain emotions carries strong effects in this commercial. It evokes a multitude of feelings, anywhere from anger to lust to joy. The commercial ... • 20. Food Contamination Issues Food contamination issues are common in the industry, but they can be dangerous. We are a small company so minimizing these issues are important since we cannot handle losses as well as larger companies. An example of a contamination could happen like this: A food contamination issue has surfaced in New England. One of our potato salad mixtures has been tested positive with bacteria and already two people have gotten sick from it. So how should we handle a crisis on this level? The mantra for this plan is honesty, transparency, and liability. The contamination is on us, so we need to rebuild our brand and reestablish trust. More importantly, we need to work as quickly as possible. Crisis Team The team should be representative of all departments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the company is conducting an investigation, employees that were on shift during the production of the contaminated products will be questioned. Suppliers for these products will be contacted asking them to work with us as we resolve the problem. We will also remain in contact with the FDA so that we follow protocol. When the source of the contamination is found, proper measures will be taken so that it does not happen again. If it was a problem during production then necessary steps will be planned accordingly. On the other hand, if the issue was caused from a supplier then ties will be cut immediately. Since only a few people were affected by the contamination we will pay their medical bills and offer our condolences. When contaminations are on a larger scale only some compensation will be provided. After the investigation is complete and the contamination is solved, the media will be notified that the company is in the clear. Following the contamination, the company should work on regaining trust with its consumers. We can provide deals on products and offer contests with prizes. More importantly, the company should show the safety of its production facilities through the website and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. The Field Of Management : Henry Mintzberg ( 1971 ) Henry Mintzberg (1971) was the first to study and document how an actual person in a managerial position operates on a daily basis. He categorized three general roles every manager possesses Interpersonal skills, Informational roles and Decisional roles, each with sub–sections of there own. He shadowed five American CEO's studying their day–to–day activities; he discovered that the role of a manager is highly people concentrated. This essay will discuss three of the sub categories that really focus on the interaction with people Liaison, Spokesperson and Negotiator. 'Estimates vary with the level of management, but most managers spend between two–thirds and four–fifths of their time in face–to–face communication with others' (Williams & McWilliams 2010, p.10) The Liaison role within the field of management occurs when managers interact on an interpersonal level with people connected to the firm internally or externally. Communication and networking skills is key for a manager to hold successful and positive relationships and interactions. As the business world moves from the local market place onto the global market stage through globalization and multinational corporations emphasis has been placed on how managers are able acquire new knowledge externally and incorporate it internally and because of this multinational corporations now rely heavily on the positions of the Liaison Officer. In the novel Animal Farm written by George Orwell, the character of Squealer is traitorous, dishonest and crafty as he is a spokesperson for Napoleon to the animals. Squealer is traitorous because he was a spokesperson for Snowball but after Snowball was ousted Squealer became a spokesperson for Napoleon. Squealer is dishonest because he makes every animal on the farm believe that Snowball was leagued with Jones from the start. Squealer proves to be crafty because when Boxer did not believe Squealer wen he said that Snowball was leagued with Jones this whole time Squealer thought of a crafty idea and said "Our leader Comrade Napoleon, has stated categorically– categorically, comrade–that Snowball was Jones's agent from the very beginning." Looking At Real World Managerial Skills The aim of this essay is to look at real world managerial skills and to see how we can relate Mintzbergs managerial role to real world managerial practice. Through his research, Mintzberg has identified 10 managerial role from the managers he interviewed, and these three roles can be classified into three: the decisional roles, informational roles and interpersonal roles. According to Mintzberg, processing information is a key part of the manager's job (Mintzberg, 1973). Mintzberg indicated that much of the managerial job involved giving and receiving information. So the informational role is also interrelated with the interpersonal role (Mintzberg, 1990). One major part of a manager's duty is to process information. In extensive part, communication is their work. Three roles describe these informational aspects of managerial work, they are the disseminator, monitor and spokesperson. This situation depended on a spokesperson that is able to identify needs with the different types of people in the audience and watching around the world. When men are around each other, they are uncaring about whether or not they look or smell good, but if you were to throw a female in the mix most men would try to look and smell more decent to impress. The spokespeople for the ad are both in their early twenties. Both of them are positioned in the exact same way, but the emotions they show is what gives off a difference. The man's face is relaxed and calm while the woman's shows an expression of a sexual pleasure. At the bottom of the ad, there is a sentence that states, "The Cleaner You Are the Dirtier You Get." Getting the correct informational statements out to the media in a timely and accurate fashion is important to any Crisis Management Team; and being prepared for any forum of public speaking is vital as one only gets one chance to make a first impression. In order to begin preparation, it is recommended by Hoffman to begin with brainstorming to come up with the any and all possible questions that the press corps could possibly ask. Some of the other themes that the author points out include, if it is a false assertion, correct it; confusing questions should be clarified, but be careful not to keep asking for a question to be restated, this will make the spokesperson look incompetent. "Jon Ronson One morning two years ago, Rachel North, who works in advertising, got on the Piccadilly Line tube at Finsbury Park, in north London." (Ronson 1). Ronson clearly wanted to provide background information to get you well acquainted with her and her story. He continues by letting her tell her side of the story, "And it was very hot. You couldn't breathe at all. The air was just completely thick with smoke. And I was suddenly wet, completely wet. And I was on the floor. And there were people lying on top of me. And then the screaming started"(Ronson 1).It is important to listen to the podcast when examining the interview because in the background of the story, there are violins and soft piano licks adding subconscious emphasis to the ethos and pathos. As she reflects back on how she handled the experience she tells us that she, " started pacing about. I was alternately pounding with anger and adrenaline and having mini flashbacks, then feeling falling over tired. I drank several whiskeys" (Ronson 1). One of the main things I learned from AP psychology was that cognitive dissonance occurs directly after a traumatic event. This is because for the brain to cope with such traumatic events, there needs to be 'gap fillers' available to smooth over the stress and allow positive growth. As Ronson began to transition into the "conspiracy theorists" subject, he makes sure to add choice wording that sets up your opinion on the theorists early on. "And so Rachel felt uncontrollably compelled to do something unwise. She decided to jump into the fray, jump into the lives of the internet conspiracy theorists. She decided to get involved, and try and convince them that their theories weren't true" (Ronson 1). The word usage "uncontrollably compelled to do something unwise," and "conspiracy theorists" add to the cushion he has given North, and how he is subtly belittling Shayler. **The difference between perspective and perception ultimately boils down to, "Perspective is a point of ... • 66. Football Corruption In The United States In May 2015, U.S. federal prosecutors released cases of corruption by officials and associates connected to FIFA, the governing body of all football. Nine current or former FIFA figures and five involved in sports marketing, were connected to wire fraud, racketeering, and money laundering. They were indicted on suspicion of receiving $150 million in bribes. The investigation focused on the officials that were bribed for their vote on the host of the next two World Cups that landed in Russia for 2018 and Qatar for 2022. Soccer federation officials were warned of the intense heat in Qatar months before Qatar won its bid for the 2022 World Cup. Because of the extreme heat in Qatar, human rights groups also warned FIFA that building the World ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Crisis Management and Communication, Coombs ranks blaming others for the crisis one of the least accommodative reputation repair strategies. Blatter put the blame on everyone indicted by stating "I know many people hold me responsible. We, I, cannot monitor everyone all the time. If people want to do wrong, they will also try to hide it," (ESPN Staff, 2015). He went on to say "Those who are corrupt in football are in a minority, like in society and must be held responsible for their actions. Football cannot be the exception to the rule. There can be no place for corruption of any kind" (ESPN Staff, 2015). Sepp Blatter also blamed the United States for the eight–year ban awarded to him for violating FIFA's ethics rules when he approved a $2 million payment to then FIFA Vice President and President of the Union of European Football Associations, Michel Platini. Blatter stated in a news conference "If we had awarded the World Cup in 2022 to the USA, we would not be here." (Perez, 2015). Blatter opened the news conference by saying "I regret I am a punching ball and for my organization I have served with my heart and conscience for 41 years," "Specifically I regret for all the team members working in FIFA" (Perez, 2015). There was no apology for the alleged improper payment from Blatter. "I am not ashamed," Blatter said. "I regret, but I am not ashamed. I ashamed." The information stated above shows how FIFA ineffectively managed this crisis by first, having the wrong person speak for the company. Secondly, the President of FIFA refused responsibility for any of the actions that occurred. Lastly, FIFA failed to repair the reputation loss by not taking action toward Sepp Blatter's Presidency. The possible long term consequences of this crisis could result in a loss of major sponsorships. Visa, one of FIFA's biggest sponsors, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shire Essay Visual Evaluation and Comparison: Analyzing the Advertisement Industry The main goal of advertising is to motivate or persuade people to buy a particular product or service, and among the media used to accomplish this are; radio, television, newspapers, and most importantly, magazines. In order for advertisements to successfully portray a product, they must be directed to the appropriate intended audience. In Rolling Stone and YM magazine, there are two advertisements that display a very attractive person gazing and posing to the viewer. In advertising, we are bombarded by images that have become standard in defining beauty and what is acceptable, and we often don't realize it. In both of the ads, the ... The girl portrayed in this is an animated girl holding a red ymobile phone on the bottom of the ad. There are graphics on the bottom of the ad surrounding the red cellular phone that display some of the options that the consumer can purchase such as: college graphics, accessories, screen savers, games, etc. All throughout the rest of the ad is text with some graphics and a very colorful background. The text is simply listing the new improvements to the ymobile device. It lists the new ring tones, how easy the improvements are, the new content, and much more. The logo is the bullet for each one of these topics on the list to remind the viewer exactly what and whose product they are buying. On the right side of the ad, there is a list of all of the songs that the viewer can download and have as their ring tone. The background is very colorful, easily targeting a young teenage girl who probably is in the middle to upper middle class who could afford all of these accessories to go along with their phone. The background color is a mixture of dark and light purple with a light green blotted on random places. This almost makes the ad look like a cartoon in a way and not trying to sell something. Advertising has come to conform to a strict set of codes about beauty. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Essay on Role of Women in Things Fall Apart Role of Women in Things Fall Apart Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart gives us a vivid description of the Igbo culture through the stories of Okonkwo and his village, Umuofia. In regards to Igbo culture, contributions of women cannot be ignored. Although their position and status seems to be underestimated by the people in the novel, women do play an important role in the Igbo culture in four aspects: women take care of the children, do all the housework, serve as priestesses, and build relationships with other villages. Women who are mothers take the responsibility to care for the children. In tribal culture, women undertake the mission of educating the children through storytelling. One example is Ezinma's mother, Ekwefi, who tells her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such examples can be found anywhere in the novel. The author describes those scenes to show the work that is done by women and their importance to the village. Besides housework in daily lives, Okonkwo's wives also need to prepare some events. For example, the author writes "Okonkwo's wives had scrubbed the walls and the huts with red earth until they reflected light" (p. 34). This example shows how Okonkwo's wives get prepared for the Feast of the New Yam. The Feast of the New Yam is the most important festival in the village, so the significance of women's work is shown by preparing the festival. Hence, women play an critical role not only in daily lives, but also in village events. Women like Chielo who are priestesses play an important role in the religious life. Chielo, the priestess, is a spokesperson for one of the Igbo gods, Agbala. Achebe writes in the novel, "But Chielo...went on shouting that Agbala wanted to see his daughter" (p. 90). In this example, Chielo is no longer Ekwefi's friend whom she often talks with, but a spokesperson becomes possessed by Agbala. A priestess is very powerful in Igbo culture. People regard the words through a priestess's mouth as oracles. Therefore, God's spokesperson is actually the spiritual leader of the people who hold in awe and veneration. No one can challenge Chielo's authority in front of their god. The novel describes Okonkwo's failure to prevent his daughter Ezinma from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. Essay on Pre-campaign Analysis: Old Spice Brand Image Pre–campaign Analysis Research Research is a crucial step in determining the problem or issue faced by the organisation (Gregory, 2000). Old Spice conducted their research and found that the brand's image was fading away along with their sales at the start of 2010 (Rowe, n.d.). The image that the public had in mind was that Old Spice's products were something their "grandfathers" would buy and use (Effie Awards, 2011). Sales had dropped due to the increased number of competitors for body wash products (Rowe, n.d.). So, what Old Spice needed to do was to come up with a plan to change the public's perception towards the brand which will thus change the brand image and increase sales. Goals & objectives As mentioned in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spokesperson The company engaged a new spokesperson to represent their brand. Old Spice needed to change their "grandfather" image by getting a spokesperson that was younger and had more "swagger" than their previous spokesperson, Fabio (Effie Awards, 2011). So, Isaiah Mustafa became the official non–staff spokesperson for the brand. Old Spice wanted a representative who could be accepted and loved by both men and women and Isaiah Mustafa was the answer to that (Marketing Conference Services, 2011). Strategies Old Spice developed a few strategies to revamp the brand image. First, they decided to create 3 lines of product, each with different features (Marketing Conference Sevices, 2011.). They then roped in the award–winning advertising agency, Wieden + Kennedy to aid the company in developing their media campaign. Wieden + Kennedy were known for coming up with Nike's "Just Do It" campaign (Baboushkin, 2013). Old Spice, with the advice of Wieden + Kennedy then decided to air their ads on Youtube during the Superbowl weekend to create a "Superbowl impact" (Effie Awards, 2011). Their next move was to air the ads on television. With both the online and TV ads, Old Spice wanted to maintain certain traits associated with the brand such as the trademark whistle at the end of ads but at the same time to revamp the ad by adding in some "clever writing and picture–perfect casting" and developing a good story with ... • 78. The Correspondent as Spokesperson and Mediator in Stephen... The Correspondent: the Spokesperson and the Mediator in Stephen Crane’s “The Open Boat” Stephen Crane’s “The Open Boat” has long been acclaimed as a fascinating exemplar of Naturalism, generating many studies that range from the indifference of Nature to the “psychological growth of the men through the experience” (466). The psychological growth happens to every man on the boat, yet is mostly depicted through the voice of the Correspondent and in the form of his questioning and contemplating their desperate situation. Being a correspondent, who is innately able as well as inclined to interpret and communicate ideas, the Correspondent is singled out to articulate the mind of his three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So while the Correspondent, after the hope of the life– saving station crashes, realizes the indifference and unconcern of the universe, the captain likewise makes the command to jump clear of the boat and “the other silently acquiesced”(483). Even the Oiler, portrayed so far as the most skilled rower and the one most assured of himself, discards the false expectations and meaningless guesses, for he has also gone through the journey and come to the place where he, like the others, understands that no power but himself and his fellowmen can save themselves. The four boatmen, vocal or not, dead or alive, “could then be the interpreters” (487) of the sea– the Nature– in the end. As the mediator of the inside and outside worlds, the Correspondent also assumes an interlocutor by taking on a dialogue with something invisible and perhaps beyond, be it Nature or Fate. The dialogue is one– sided, for the “invisible” never responds: “If I am going to be drowned– if I am going to be drowned– if I am going to be drowned, why, in the name of the seven mad gods who rule the sea, was I allowed to come thus far and contemplate sand and trees?”(477) In this half– question and half– assertion, all “I” can be replaced by “we”, referring to the four men, because the danger and ... • 80. Crisis Management Crisis management Once a crisis happens in an organization, the nature of the activities undertaken to respond to a major threat to the organization is what is referred to as the crisis management. The management of crisis such as the one in the case study on the copper mine collapse includes identifying the nature of the crisis and coming up with an appropriate plan to deal with it as the organization minimizes the damages and ultimately recovering from the crisis. Here there is a lot of focus that is directed towards the public relations to recover any public image damage suffered during the crisis as you assure the stakeholders of the recovery. Considerations in this crisis management There are ten fundamental steps to consider in such a magnitude of crisis as it involves potential life threatening conditions, as noted below (Khera Communications, Inc. 2009): 1. Have a comprehensive plan. The mine management should have a comprehensive plan that will enable the organization to get out of the crisis. The plan should be one that is able to address any bespoke and random vulnerabilities within the industry. 2. Crisis identification Identify the crisis as soon as possible once it happens and move fast towards finding a corrective measure. There are three golden rules in PR crisis communication that are fundamental in crisis control; as soon as a crisis happens, Tell it all, Tell it fast and Tell it honestly. This consideration will control the flow of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
