1. Personal Fitness Plan<br />405765079375Project: This semester, Students will act as each other’s personal trainer. They will create a workout/diet plan for their partner over a 6 week period. Throughout the 6 weeks students will change the plan as needed to reach their partner’s goals, such as increasing weight, time, etc. Ever week students will graph their progress using skin fold tests, weigh-ins, distance times, max reps, etc. They will present their plan, changes, final outcome, and why this plan works to personal trainers from a local gym.The teachers and parents will act as observers. They are there to bounce ideas off of, ask questions, etc. The students will complete this project on their own.<br />This class will use Project Based Learning to teach students concepts and ideas about physical fitness. PBL is a way to engage students into the subject that they are studying. Rather than having them sit in a classroom and read about things and asking them to memorize them, they are instead learning through experience. Students are able to use hands on activities to learn through trial and error as well as see things happen with their own eyes.<br />PE.8.13: Explain long-term physiological and psychological benefits resulting from regular participation in physical activity.Objective: Students will be able to see the change in a person though a 6 week program by measuring and making charts using a skin fold tests, weigh-ins and max weight tests.PE.8.16: Design a personalized fitness plan.Objective: Students will be able to design a full personalized fitness plan by creating one for a fellow student and coaching them through it for a 6 week period.<br />Essential Question: How can I be physically fit?Unit Questions: How does physical activity benefit me?
