Negative Effects Of Working On Teenagers
Work! Work! Work! Work! In today's society, teenagers are seeking jobs to earn money even though
they have school. Sometimes they are forced to get a job because they need to help their parents for
their financial problems. It is very common to teenagers to get a job at a young age. It did not really
change back then about children's working at such a young age when they should be focusing on
their education. Getting a job is everyone's dream because they can earn money and get experiences.
Avery Neumark quote says that, " Never too early to start. Anything can happen any time," this
quote relates to teenagers because they need the head start to do something in life. Sometimes the
job that they have pushes teenagers to do their best. Working early has both positive and negative
impact to young adults. However, that is their only way to survive in this world is to get a part–time
job to at least help them. Having a job help teenagers to be on time to avoid consequences,
expansion of knowledge, and realize the reality of life. A job that is common to teenagers is working
at McDonalds. This is common because it is an entry level job and a good way to start. Working at
McDonalds help teenagers be more attentive in listening because they need to get the customer's
order right before the customer gets mad. In every job, they need to be on time because if they are
on time, they have consequence. As an example of a consequence, the manager will yell at them. In

Reflection Of The Prince By Niccolo Machiavelli
Sophia Diane G. Daroya

The Prince is one of the greatest work of the famous Niccolo Machiavelli. It talks about how to
sustain and to obtain political power. In this book, he explained the different principalities such as
the hereditary, religious, use of power and others. He also mentioned the characteristics of the prince
must possess. This novel focuses on being a leader. It's not all about in a good way but also in a bad
way. It's very different on other novels we know in being a leader which everything is all about
being good. Machiavelli wants to point out that people cannot commit in being a good all the time
because at the end they might just fail. I believe that he wrote this book not only to mention all
things about a leader but also for the people to relate it in real life situation. There are different
messages he brought to the people for them to learn something such as strategies, characteristic, and
more. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Otherwise, if he's hated by the people, this might cause his downfall. He can be cruel but at least he
has to show goodwill to his people for him to ensure his reign. It is good to be feared and to be
loved. People will not dare to stand against you if they are being feared. Still, he has to make sure
that he will be loved by doing things that will make people happy. This is a good strategy to remain
your power because people will not hate you if you show them that you're not someone who should
be hated, instead you're someone who should be respected because of good things you do for them.
In a work place, you need to be balanced. You have to be strict but you still need to have a good
relationship with your employees. You can give them punishment if they didn't do the right thing in
their jobs but you can also give them rewards if your employees did something that are helping the

Character Analysis Of Freddie In The Shade
Were you ever nervous and bothered about changing the life you've lived the most? Freddie in the
Shade, written by Pam Munoz Ryan, is about a young boy named Freddie who struggles with
realizing the beauty of change and moving forward in life. Having a hard time with moving on,
Freddie is left disagreeable but soon begins to let go of the past and becomes acceptable to new
things coming his way. Freddie is an interesting character because he likes to have power over his
own life but he tries to hold himself down to feel empathy for those he truly cares for. There are
several events and examples throughout the story Freddie in the Shade, that express Freddie as a
strong, caring, and kindhearted character.
Freddy can be described as disagreeable at the beginning of the story although at the end of the story
he becomes acceptable and open to new beginnings. For example, in the beginning of the story on
page 12 the author states "For weeks, Freddie had been hibernating in his room, trying to avoid dad
and Maggie. They tried to include him in every boring preparation for the baby." With the evidence,
the author provides us we can predict that Freddie doesn't like when he is pushed into doing
something he doesn't want to do leaving Freddie very disagreeable and stubborn. On the very first
paragraph of page 11, the narrator states "Freddie hoped that the dark shades would protect him
from anything else that might disrupt his life." From the statement, the author provides in

House On Mango Street Theme Analysis
HOMS: Theme Essay Kids usually don't act their age. They either act older or younger. They grow
up too fast or too slow. In the book, House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, a girl named
Esperanza moves to house on Mango Street and doesn't seem to fit in. She meets a girl named Sally
at her school and becomes friends with her but Sally is not a good friend. She chooses boys over
Esperanza and abandones her a couple of times to be with boys.Ezperanza cant fit in because she is
growing up too slow while Sally, who is not a good friend is growing up too fast .Sandra Cisneros
develops the theme through character conflicts. The theme of House on Mango Street is not to grow

Sally's relationship with boys demostratess that she is grows up too fast. Sally and Esperanza went
to monkey garden but tito and his friends finessed Sally's keys and said they wont give it back
unless Sally kisses them. It states ¨ one Of tito close friends said you can't get the keys back unless
you kissed us and Sally pretended to be mad at first but said yes. It was that simple. "(pg 96). this
proves she is growing up too fast. This will cause problems in the future because people won't take
Sally seriously because of the way she acts. In addition to kissing boys, she got married. In the

Competition Is Bad Essay
"Losers are always in the wrong" ,it is a Chinese traditional saying. In a society where the places
have people, competition is unavoidable. Competition is a part of life that can't (cannot) be avoided.
Competition is a situation in which two or more people or groups are trying to get something which
not everyone can have. Competition is all around us. When we are students and still studying in
school, we need to compete with our classmates and schoolmates for better grade. Also, when we are
doing sports and games we are trying our best to beat the other teams. When you become a (an
adult) maturer and go to work, you would compete with your colleagues, (.) So please (be more

We can improve ourselves and we can learn and study from the competition .To prove this, in China,
it is very popular even normal now to have a teacher who come to student's house to teach extra
contents with paying a lot of money.Their parents wish they can learn faster than what they learn at
school. Furthermore, during the vacations, students study abroad to learn English for a month
instead of playing video games at home. If they have this experience such as summer school in
American university, it is one of the greatest bonus point to apply a university in western countries.
What is more,we have one national examination to decide which college that you can enroll. The
circumstances are full of competitiveness in China now because China has salient characteristic of a
large population base. Obviously, only the highest 15% can go to the good quality colleges. Students
try to learn as much as they can, to win the competition to obtain good quality schools. Finally,lf you
can achieve an outstanding diploma such as the doctor of Peking University and Tsinghua

Persuasive Essay On Blind Hope
Your homework is not done. You check the due date once again in disbelief that it could possibly be
due in ten minutes. You wait in anguish until you come up with the wonderful idea that the teacher
just might be willing to forgive today. Surely others have missed the deadline as well. You ease
yourself into a mellow confidence as you decide to turn the assignment in blank. The teacher doesn't
buy your story of how it was not posted in a good location and hands it back to you with a zero. It is
rare that these situations ever work out. Blind hope can only lead to unforeseen consequences.
Blind hope can cause one to ignore risks and look only to what good could come out of it. The
rewards always seem to outweigh the risks. A good example of this is seen in people who like to
gamble. They would believe that the next spin will be "the one"; it has to be. The problem is, the
chances of that are almost none, and they loose money each time they go "just one more time."
There are also numerous fictional stories that illustrate this, one being "Contents of a Dead Man's
Pockets." In this story, the man sees his paper and feels that he could reach it if he just went out to
get it. Thinking about the benefits, "He imagined himself describing it; it would make a good story
at the office and, it occurred to him, would add a special interest and importance to his
memorandum, which would do it no harm at all" (Finney 4). This is all fine and dandy if the paper
wasn't outside his high

Technology Advantages And Disadvantages Of The New Technology
Technology Advantages/Disadvantages
This world had become more, and more dependent on the new technology. People around the world
are adapting to this new technology and they like it, but the new technology it's destroying social
interactions. I have experience situation where I work at, the place where I work is in a Mexican
restaurant, they are families that come together to talk about their lives, experiences, personal event
etc.... but now day's mostly young adults are on their phones and they don't pay attention. They
think that their phones, iPad, music player, or any other device is more important than their family.
In my own opinion when you have the time to get together as a family, they should talk about what
happened today in their day, are there any problems that we can help, or even just talk. Or even
more shocking, the new technology is making people more lazy than ever I would say, because for
example in a situation where you have to choose to either go outside and play soccer with your
friends, but instead you choose to stay inside playing soccer, but in the computer which you only
have to move your hands, in the other hand if you go outside you can play and actually move your
hands, legs and even talk and laugh with your friends. I myself think that it has impact my life in
good and bad way. The good thing about the new technology is that I have more contact with my
family in Mexico; I can connect my phone through Bluetooth in my car, I can transfer my YouTube

Strength Analysis : The Strength Quest
Strength Quest Reflection In the strength quest book there are special talents that describe me and
each of the talents points out to how I use each of the talents in very special way in using it for a
purpose. Each of the talent that is given to me and every other person is that it makes us unique in a
way how we can express it with emotions and how we can behave. Also back in September when I
took the Clifton Strengths Quest survey, it gave me the complete result of what the five special
talents really described me for who I was and it gave positive result that I did use the five talents
throughout my life time. With each of the five Strengths Quest signature themes it shows how it can
guide us throughout our life time in way that gives us the abilities to use it when it comes to deal
with problems and solving things.
Since there were about thirty–four signature themes in the Clifton Strengths quest book and out of
the thirty–four there were five theme talents that gave positive results that really described who I
was. And the five signatures theme words that described me were achiever, developer, discipline,
futuristic, and self–assurance. With achiever being as my first signature theme, being an achiever

want to set your goals to where you can get to there. Because of earning the achievement you can set

Work and Life Balance
How To Find That Elusive Balance Between Work and Life
"Balance is beautiful." – Miyoko Ohno, Japanese bridge designer
Article by Leo Babauta
I have a close friend named Norm who is a great photographer and a great person in general ...
recently he was telling me that all he does is work.
That might sound familiar to some of you – I've certainly been there at different points in my life,
although these days I have to say that I've found a pretty good balance between all the important
things in my life, including work, family, and other things I'm interested in.
Norm asked me to write a post about work–life balance, because although I think Norm is pretty

Finding That Balance
Once you've created space in your life for the things you love, it's just a matter of finding the right
balance between them. You could have a life filled with all the things you love doing, but it could
still be almost all work. While there's certainly nothing wrong with that if you love your work and it
doesn't have negative consequences (on your health or family relationships, for example), for many
people it's better to have other things balancing out their lives.
Why is a balance between several things that you love better than just one thing that you love? Well,
there are a number of reasons that would depend on your situation. For one thing, if you have an
office job you might not be getting outdoors enough, or getting enough exercise, and your health
might suffer. Another reason is that you might have family and/or friends and if you work all the
time you're neglecting them – and those relationships will suffer. You might also get lonely if you
work all the time. Another major problem is burnout – working all the time (or doing any activity all
the time) can lead to stress and fatigue, and could make that activity less enjoyable.
Variety is a good thing – it keeps life interesting. So mix things up a bit. Here are some ideas for
doing that: * Schedule time blocks. This is good for those who use their calendar a lot or can stick to
schedules well. Schedule chunks of time throughout your week

Shot Techniques in the Film, Do the Right Thing Essay
Shot Techniques in the Film, Do the Right Thing
Spike Lee does many fascinating things from a directorial standpoint, which makes his film (dare I
say, joint), Do the Right Thing so interesting to watch. Writer, director Lee makes much use of the
high and low angle shots. He does this to draw clear contrasts between the two elders of the block,
Da Mayor and Mother Sister and to make conflict more apparent.
Mother Sister certainly believes she is on a higher moral plane than the lowly Mayor and is usually
seen by way of a low–angle shot high in her window preaching down and casting criticism on the
passersby, giving her an almost God–like characteristic. The high angle shots from her view give Da
Mayor and others on the street a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Briefly the two are in the same eye–level shot showing the viewer that Mother Sister and Da Mayor
are very much the same. This also gives her character a much more tangible, mortal quality. They
are also shown this way after Da Mayor risks his life to save a boy from being hit by a car while
playing in the street, but it is not so much because the two are equals as it that the God–like Mother
Sister is coming down from her high perch to grace Da Mayor with her sacred opinion that he has
done a good thing.
A good example of Lee using high and low angel shots to exemplify conflict is in the two
encounters between Sal and Radio Raheem. Radio Raheem is shown throughout the film only with
low–angle shots giving him a threatening, larger than life appearance. When Radio Raheem walks
into Sal's Famous with his boom box blaring the first time it starts a huge altercation between Sal
and Raheem. The camera jumps back and forth between low angle close up shots of Raheem to the
reverse high angle close ups of Sal as the two yell at each other. This confrontation ends with Radio
Raheem finally turning off the music and peace is restored. The second instance occurs just before
and serves as the catalyst for the violent climax.
Lee makes excellent use of these shots as a way of bringing the viewer into the action of the movie.
His use of high and low angle, point of view shots both heighten tension and give the feeling that the

Globalization Of The University Of Windsor Globalization
Globalization is the interaction of companies, people, and governments internationally to change
and adapt perspective, ideas and resources. As I take the time to observe my surrounding, I realize
that globalization has been happening in our everyday life without knowing. Without globalization
countries would be limited the resources they have, would decrease security between countries and a
negative impact for the countries economy. Ways that globalization has impacted my everyday life
in a positive impact would be the things I accomplish, the people I confront and the things I observe.
I have encountered many things in my daily life that showed me globalization is a part of each and
everyone of us. I work at Wind Mobile and can see globalization within the phones I sale daily. Each
phone was made in a different country showing the internally interaction that took place. Without
globalization we would have been limited and would not be able to do or learn all the things we

Sports Competition For School–Age Children Can Be a Good Thing
Many parents find themselves standing on the sidelines of a baseball game or a soccer game very
early on in their child's life. Cheering away as they watch their child make their first goal or hit their
first home run. This is just a small glimpse for parents into the world of sports and competition
where their child is concerned. According to Tami Coyle, from Arundel
Soccer Association, "Participating in sports can be a good thing if handled in a healthy way

There is a lot of controversy about use of medication in children with ADHD. Organized sports offer
many another options for parents and kids. The benefits include, "a decrease in risky behavior, better
sportsmanship and easier integration into the social setting (Lullo and Van Puymbroeck 20–24)".
Organized sports help kids with learning how to show control and interact positively with their
peers. The hope is that this will help overflow into their everyday lives. Millions of children play
sports for fun but there are many other benefits for kids. The number of overweight children in the
U.S. seems to be increasing, "Twenty percent of U.S. children are overweight (Becerra, Children)".
Overweight children have a better chance of becoming overweight adults. Encouraging children to
be involved in sports and staying away from the video games is a great start. Making exercise and
sports fun for kids promotes healthy habits that will last a life time. Sports Illustrated Kids did a
survey of children titled "Kids Speak Out" in 2009; they found that 51% of children asked would
like to participate in sports (34–39). They found that kids would rather participate than watch sports
in person, on television or in a video game. I found this encouraging but I wish the percentage was
even higher. Martin 4 Many would argue that too much pressure is being put on kids in sports by
parents and coaches. They have a strong desire for them to

really believe and have an interest in, and can volunteer as much or as little as you'd like or have
time for." Community service is really easy to get into. I mean, it is not like you have to put out an

Facebook as an Identity Tool Essay
Facebook is the lifeline of many people's social life. Some use it for the purposes of work, some for
school and others use it as a way to escape from the real world. Facebook has provided many with a
convenient way for keeping in touch with people. It provides several ways to communicate, which
forges a stronger bond. It now has games that can be shared between the members; for example, my
sister and I can chat while playing a game of Uno together. That bond is made stronger because we
are having fun while sharing and catching up with each other. In the time I've spent using Facebook,

could very well be spent doing other things like homework, socializing with friends around me, I

time. Whenever one of my friends or family write me, I make sure to write back. Doing this, results
in them knowing I will always respond to whatever they may have to say. This is forming a strong
community bond filled with the friends and family members on my list. This community bond also
impacts me as a person as well as my personality. Who you associate yourself with and build strong
relationships tells a lot about your personality. If you have a tendency to add people who are
negative and are a potential bad influence, then you will eventually pick up their habits. That makes
for a negative personality. However, if you add people who are positive and are doing good things,
you will want to do good things and be a good person. My community is made up of people I've
grown up with, family, friends and church members. We value honesty, generosity, trust, love,
respect, education and patience and believe that a family should stick together at all times. Anybody
who is loving and caring can be accepted into our community/family. With the amount of time I

The Is Not A Good Thing
Wouldn't it be nice to be in complete bliss every day of your life? That seems like a stupid question
to ask; of course your first response would be, "duh". Everyone wants happiness in their life, that is
why most of our decisions are based on whether it will make us happy or not. This is where we
underestimate the power of going through something sad or difficult. Although nobody searches for
sadness, it is vital that we experience some sort of pain in our lives to balance the happy times, since
there are risks of pursuing extreme happiness. Sometimes we can have too much happiness,
experience happiness at the wrong time, become sad when we are looking for happiness, or even

Having too much happiness could end up giving you the same effect as a drug; the more you have,
the more you want. Being too happy consumes us, and could also come when we do not need it.
When things go wrong, we need to feel bad, it only makes sense. Feeling happy when something
bad happens won't teach you anything. If you lost your job, but you're happy you lost it, then you'll
never learn the importance of a job. We also become more gullible when we're happy. This may
cause you to miss warning signs that you need to see, causing you to trust someone more than you
should. Fear ignites the fight–or–flight response. So, being too happy to acknowledge this can create
many problems. For example, if I am mindlessly walking my dog down the sidewalk, headphones
in, thinking of how excited I am for the weekend, I may not notice the sketchy car that is driving up
behind me. Being happy during the wrong times could make you overlook something important, and
could even make you worse off than you were before.
I've learned in philosophy that the more you search for happiness, the less likely you will be to find
it. Epicureans believe that if you focus on what you are doing, rather than how you feel, then
pleasure will come. One reason for this may be because you are constantly searching in other places,
so you miss what is right in front of you. For me, when I came to college I was so

stick and tape, put them back together, and put them back in their desk. Now, you must be thinking,
what kind of horrible child does something so intentionally mean? However, that's the thing. My
intentions were always good because I was trying to help people. I wasn't thinking "oh I want to
break their pencils," but rather "I want to fix their pencils, but they need to be broken in order for me
to do so." The Helping Trait
Since I was three years old, I've known I wanted to help people. In fact, I've always had my heart set
on being a doctor. It wasn't until two years ago that I realized nursing was actually right for me.
When people ask me why, I often struggle how to put it into words, but deep down I believe it is
because nursing is a profession that focuses less on the science behind the disease, and more about
the science of caring. The nurses are the ones who are always there next to the patient's bedside,
providing comfort, love, and compassion. A nurse knows their patients inside and out. Especially
when it comes to children, nurses know what the patient's favorite toy is, or what their favorite
popsicle flavor is. Nurses have huge hearts. They prioritize everyone else's happiness and needs
above their own. They are truly angels in human form. Nurses give a piece of themselves to their

AAnalysis On The Executive 's Management
The two CEO's we are considering for this paper have two very different approaches, and what we
can only assume is two very different types of organizations. Without knowing the identity of the
CEO for the e–mail, we don't get a lot of background on the company they are running like we do
with SAS. It doesn't tell us the actions they have previously taken in regards to the problem, much
about the company perks or moral, or how long the problem has been going on and it's direct effect
to company production. However, it does tell us a lot about this CEO's management style just from
this message. First of all, this is an e–mail. We don't know the meetings that have been called to
address this issue prior to this, but by sending this in an e–mail he is making it very impersonal. The
CEO here isn't showing the effort necessary to really get his point across through the means he
chose. They are also very threatening, by deciding to take away privileges such as the Associate
Center and the Stock Purchase Program instead of providing incentives for improvement.
The CEO for this company needs to take responsibility for his part in allowing the culture of his
company to facilitate this type of behavior in its employees. A hiring freeze and a reduction in staff
will cause more work all around, whether specific employees are part of the problem, or not. This
will most likely not be good for company morale or retention rate. It does appear that something
does need to be done to

Summary Of Nicholas Carr
In this article, Nicholas Carr attempts to explain how the way information is presented on the
Internet has changed our way of thinking. He uses many different methods to do this, playing on the
audience's emotions as he uses anecdotes, research, and his own observations to try and convince
the audience that the Internet has been detrimental to our thinking and learning processes. For the
most part I believe his argument is ineffective because of his organization, his choice of sources, and
his tone.
Carr starts the article with a quote from 2001: A Space Odyssey. He explains the quote, talking
about how the human is rewiring the computer, but then he parallels that with how computers have
rewired his brain. I didn't know who Nicholas Carr was, so I researched him. He is a highly
respected author who has written for the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, and was a
finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. It appears that he relies heavily on his fame to convince readers of his
point of view, because he uses his opinion quite often. Admittedly, he is something of an expert on
the subject, but if the reader, like I, doesn't know who he is, then a lot of this article is not effective.
After stating his opinion, he then proceeds to talk about how his friends have echoed his sentiments,
saying that they can't read whole books anymore. Honestly, if his authority isn't established, this is
not a convincing argument either. Anyone can quote their friends, but the friends of a well

The Importance Of Pride In The Short Story 'The Scarlet Ibis'
Therefore, pride is an unatractive quality because it can cause people to only be focused on
themselves, destroy relationships, and harm others. "There are two kinds of pride, both good and
bad. 'Good pride' represents our dignity and self–respect. 'Bad pride' is the deadly sin of our
superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance." The author of this quote, John C. Maxwell, a world
known leader. He is a renowned author for his inspirational books about improving one's quality of
life, strategies that help business people, entrepreneurs, achieve person success in work and in life.
He has changed lives throughout the world, and continues to make a lasting impression. He always
motivates his fans to have a good life ahead of them. John C. Maxwell is saying, pride can be a
wonderful thing, but can lead to, self destruction and harm of others. This belief is stated clearly
through the short story, The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst. Although pride may be motivating, the
result may be for the wrong reason. Some might argue that pride is an attractive quality because it
motivates people to achieve there goals. In the scarlet Ibis the narrator States, "Once I had
succeeded in teaching doodle to walk, I began to believe in my own infallibility and I prepared a
terrific development program for him, unknown to Mama and Daddy, of course pg 173." This
explains that the narrators pride forced him to help Doodle achieve his goals, and help him to be
more normal. Although pride can be a good thing to have, there is very strong evidence stating that it
only tears people down little by little. In the Scarlet Ibis it says, "When Doodle was five years old, I
was embarrassed at having a brother of that age you couldn't walk, so I set out to teach him...
Doodle told them it was I who had taught him to walk, so everyone wanted to hug me, and I began
to cry... they did not know that I did it for myself; that pride, who's slave I was, spoke to me louder
than all their voices, and that Doodle only walked because I was ashamed of having a crippled
brother Pg 173." This quote shows how the narrators self pride took over him, and made him think
he needed to do something for himslef that affected Doodle. Its great that he wanted to teach

Stereotypes And Media Analysis
Your television and computer are controlling every choice you make. Scary thought? Everyday
Americans log into their computer or turn on their TV and are fed information from our trusted
media. In fact, a Marshall survey states, "By 2015, it is estimated that Americans will consume both
traditional and digital media for over 1.7 trillion hours, an average of approximately 5 and a half
hours per person per day." Unknowingly at times, we are allowing our media to shape the choices
we make, the ways we see others, and the way we view ourselves. With most of Americans unaware
of the media's control on their choices and views, this can be an alarming realization. Media has a
major impact on multiple parts of our society.

As seen in "Effects of Disney's Gender Stereotyping" it said Disney has created many movies that
make people sacrifice for others. Ariel gave up her voice and many other things just so she could be
with Prince Eric. This shows that even companies that are "so innocent" like Disney are creating
these wrong stereotypes. In another video called "Always #likeagirl" it stated when people say like a
girl it's almost always a bad thing. Like you run or throw like a girl it's normally a bad thing. So
many people want to make it a good thing. This illustrates that people want to reverse things. 2nd,
3rd, even 1st graders take part in these wrong stereotypes. According to a graph in "Middle Eastern
and Muslim Stereotypes in Media" it said "According to Southern illinois university out of 1000
films from 1896 to 2007 that contains Middle Eastern references 12 were good and over 900
hundred were bad." This demonstrates that to many people are being way to stereotypical. Out of
1000 films there was only 12 good references and over 900 bad references! There are such things as
good Middle Easterns. Media plays a role in the shaping of our society's stereotypes and one's views

Argumentative Essay On Social Media
What is social media? If one was to ask an everyday teenager of this generation, they would
probably say something to the effect of "It's a digital platform that helps everyone stay connected no
matter what they're doing." However, if one was to ask someone from the prior generation what
social media is, they might say "It leads to the youth of America becoming more: anti–social,
depressed, self–conscious, and more than likely destroys the chances of someone making a career
for themselves later in life." So which answer is correct? Well, surprisingly enough the prior
generation is. Social media leaves a digital footprint that can't be erased no matter what precautions
are taken. In today's society, the digital footprint that someone leaves is seen as an ongoing resume
for their future, whether they like it or not. It's seen too many times, whether it's in the movies or it
happens to a friend, when someone goes for an opportunity such as a job interview, one of the
biggest things employers take into account is what they post on their social media pages. It was
reported that in 2015, one in ten job hunters are rejected due to what they post on social media.
Whether it be complaints, inappropriate photos, etc., it was posted on the World Wide Web for
everyone to observe. Additionally, everything that is/was posted on the internet is there for forever,
and nothing can be done about that. The type of digital footprint that today's society is leaving is

Sports Help Younger Kids Build Character
P.E. Sports help Younger Kids Build Character
Going to school is not only about learning and making good grades. It is also about making
relationships and learning how to handle situations. In most schools, sports are a way to learn these
things by participating and making the best of it. Even if one is not good and they always get picked
last, sports can have an impact on their life to get better and shock their classmates. In the article "I
pity those children forced to do Zumba at school," Jemima Lewis makes an ineffective argument
through her methods of handling opposing points, giving good sources, and writing an argument that
is clearly understood. Jemima Lewis, who hated sports in school, makes the argument that all
schools should ban sports in PE class because they are a waste of time, especially if someone is not
good at them. She was the kid that was always picked last and hoped that the ball never came her
way. Jemima dreaded going to PE class and throughout her childhood despised every sport that the
school had forced the kids to play during that one–hour class. She came across an article written by
Neil Rollings stating that instead of having contact sports, schools should have Zumba or Yoga class
so kids would not be judged on their athletic ability and strengths. Jemima liked the idea that sports
should be taken out of the equation, but she found it worse that the schools would add a Zumba or
Yoga class. Being a nerd in school, Jemima Lewis goes

Persuasive Essay : Bad Decisions And Consequences
Everybody makes stupid mistakes that could have been prevented, but nobody in this world is close
to perfect and will never be perfect. Good can actually come from making mistakes, by doing
something wrong you are corrected and shown how to fix it by someone who has already made your
mistake. Growing up I have made plenty of terrible decisions that lead to consequences in the end.
Also, I have seen many of my close friends and family make mistakes that got them into trouble, but
afterwards they learned a valuable lesson. I am going to tell you a story about one of my close
friends who made a mistake and took full responsibility of his action and by doing so learned a
valuable lesson that he can now pass on to people in his life.
During the summer I fly down to Arkansas to visit my dad and work at a place called Camp
Yorktown bay, which is a christian camp with different ages each week. We provide several different
activities there and one of them is boats. At boats you can do any sport possible behind a boat that
the kids want to learn and we the staff will teach them how. Our oldest age group, which is the last
week we do an overnight trip on the boats. My Friend Chandler was on his way to fill up the boat
after the long day of work. It was getting dark out and pretty soon he had to drive with knowledge of
where the shallow spots were on the lake because you could no longer see the markers pointing out
the shallow water. The mistake that he made was mixing up where he thought he was so he had no
idea he was coming upon a very shallow part, next thing we he knows the boat makes a terrifying
noise and it stops moving. I remember him telling me that he got really scared, and he had realized
that the boat had ran aground. It wasn't that big of a shallow spot so by backing up he got free. The
boat had seemed fine so he kept driving, when he got back to camp he realized that he had to tell our
boss what had happened.
The next morning right away Chandler went to our boss Jeff and started explaining what had
happened that night. He took full responsibility and told my boss that he would try and pay for the
damages somehow. But by being honest with him and not lying Jeff said that he did not have to pay
any money for

Persuasive Speech On Homework
Being a kid is not easy, trying to juggle sports, school, and a social life is stressful and time
consuming. We have lives outside of the classroom and keeping track of our work is very difficult,
but there are ways to help keep the two balanced. Here are some helpful ways to keep your school
life managed and still have a productive lifestyle. I've been in school for a little while now and one
of the things I dreaded the most was the teacher saying "Your homework for tonight is..."Hearing
those words just ruined my mood. However, homework may not be the most enjoyable thing in the
world it is important. It's 10% of your grade but also allows to practice more on what you're
learning. Once you get home, homework should be the first thing on your mind so you can just get it
out of the way. When working on homework you should definitely turn off all electronic devices so
it won't get in the way of you focusing. Another thing that could be distracting is family. As much
fun as family might be, having someone there when you're trying to do classwork could get you
really off topic. I have a cousin who I definitely adore and we are super close but once we get to
talking there is just no stopping us. Keeping a distance from them will keep you on task and you will
also get your work done faster. Once that is out of the way you can have all the time to socialize.
Ever been so stressed out about a test before? Well guess what, you're not alone. Test and exams are
so stressful and sometimes they could either make or break your grade. Having that kind of pressure
put on you doesn't feel good but there are ways you can prep and not be so freaked out. A key thing
that goes along with studying is the same with homework, turn off all devices that have nothing to
do with school. For instances phones, with all this new social media coming out all you want do is
snapchat friends and see what they are doing. That'll distract you from studying. Besides devices
being shut down, having something calm and relaxing playing can help the brain focus more and do
better. Playing classical music or maybe sounds of nature will be soothing. I know when I study it
could feel like I've been studying forever and nothing is

Is Gentrification A Good Thing But Withal Deplorable?
Gentrification is a very popular topic on whether the fact that it's a good thing and or a bust for
neighborhoods. It's not only a moral in society, it's happening around everyone. As Urban
communities are being affected, homes being destroyed and bought out by the government, residents
are faced with the struggle to stay in a home and not be relocated. A man named Justin Davidson, a
music critic and a background for architecture, knows a bit about this topic. With his knowledge
about architecture, he gives a speech, "Is Gentrification All Bad" and he understands how
gentrification is good but withal deplorable. Davidson gives statistics backing up his justifiable
answer. He gives plenty of reasons from other sources about the pros and cons, but his own personal
belief is that gentrification can be good. With that, Davidson intends to speak to the people of
neighborhoods who think that they need this type of improvement. Personally, I don't think I'm a
part of the attended audience because my neighborhood is well developed and displayable.
Davidson isn't afraid to show the good and bad about his beliefs on gentrification. He even says in
his essay, "Yet gentrification can be either a toxic or a balm," Davidson explains that statement by
stating that some neighborhoods can upscale in a fast way and prices sky rocketing, not letting
former citizens have a chance to reside there. Also, he explains how there's a slower rate in which
gentrification increases and could take

Descriptive Essay On Soccer
Today is the day. Soccer tryouts I wish they were on a Friday instead of a Monday but oh well.
Yesterday I woke up at 6am and practice until 10pm. I ate breakfast and dinner which I ate fast so I
could go and practice more. My mom and dad got me a soccer net and soccer disc. I hang up one of
the disc and shoot at it until I hit it at least 3 times.
The coach told my parents that even if someone makes the team in means they could play but they
might not. As long as I make the team I could have a change to play I can still practice hopefully I
can play in the games too. She said that she only wants 15 on the team. 11 on the field and 3 for the
subs incase somebody gets hurt or the just need a break. For the one day that I was at this school it
went by really fast. All of my teachers are really nice so that helps. I hope today goes by just as fast.
But nope it is going by so slow. All I can think about is tryouts. I need to stop before I sike myself
out. That had never happened before but I was always playing with the same girls and the same
coach. This year it is different girls different coach. I can't let all that practice go to waste.
She knows about nationals that I was in and won. It was in tv and it was the first thing she

I was raised to have. I am known as an over–achiever and I always try to do my best at everything I

Pokemon Is The Most Successful Mobile Game Of All Time
You may have noticed an influx of people wandering around your neighborhood or perhaps you may

It 's called Pokemon GO, a mobile game based off Nintendo 's Pokémon – and has turned out to be
huge cultural phenomenon. The game uses the GPS on your mobile device to track and capture
Pokémon located at various locations around the world. One of the unique features of the game is
that a Pokémon can be caught while using Augmented reality (AR) – you can catch a Pokémon
while looking at the real world location of the Pokémon.
While Pokémon has been around since the 90s it has never seen this much success – Pokémon GO
has become the most successful mobile game of all time.
Since the game requires players to physically get up and look for Pokémon it has been praised by
some for its ability to encourage people to be more active, it has millions of people are roaming
around at all hours of the day actively looking for that next Pokémon. Often times players can be
seen hanging around PokéStops – notable locations in the real world that are marked in blue on your
in–game map. These stops can be neighborhood playgrounds, historical landmarks, and even local

1.8 Connection
Connections Report 1.8 Connections
The theme of love connection between people is a very important part of life. I choose this theme as
it is a very relevant and relatable subject for many people in our society. The four texts I chose were:
the fictional novel 'Delirium', by Lauren Oliver, the song 'Blank Space' by Taylor Swift, song 'Same
Love' by Macklemore and fictional novel 'Girl Online', by Zoe Sugg. There was a strong connection
of love between two people in all of these texts.
The first text that I looked at that showed the connection of love was Delirium. This novel discusses
the connection of love. Love is the main theme of this novel. The main character ... Show more

This song is about the struggles society creates for people identifying as a homosexual and discusses
equality and discrimination of people that like the same sex. Macklemore was driven to write this
song because of the issue of equal marriage right and the use of 'gay' as degrading word in society
and in the hip hop industry. He wanted to set an example for others in the music industry, and help
change the stereotypes of homosexuality. As Macklemore writes in his song 'a bunch of stereotypes
all in my head' this shows that society riddles our brains into thinking that it isn't alright to be gay,
when really it is. These stereotypes make it hard for people to feel accepted about their sexuality.
This song discusses how gay is used in an insultive way as quoted in the lyrics; 'If I was gay I would
think hip–hop hates me, Have you read the YouTube comments lately, "Man that's gay" Gets
dropped on the daily, We've become so numb to what we're sayin'' These examples show the
connection of love, but in a different way to what we would usually expect. This song has a different
view on the connection of love compared to other books with the theme of love, as it is about
homosexuality rather than heterosexuality. In my opinion I think what Macklemore is trying to
convey is very smart, and I believe that there should be equality on who you love. I also thing that
the words such as 'gay' shouldn't be used with such negative connotations, and I'm sure many others

The Impact Of Internet On Our Lives
Since the internet was created, people have been using it more and more every day. It has gotten to
the point that people are looking on either their computers, tablets, or phones for the majority of
their day. This has affected every one of those people and is going to continue to affect the new
generations our lives are going to become more and more technology based. The biggest way that
this has affected people is by being able to read off of the interned whenever they please, and by
being able to do this both the cognitive abilities and intellectual development of people have been
affected and it will also affect these aspects in children who are growing up in today's world. A way
in which the internet has affected people is by weakening their cognitive abilities, this is done in
multiple ways. One of those ways is particularly being noticed in the children of today, that is them
being more worried about if they will like it rather than how long material is. This is mainly a
problem when the person is looking for research, either in a book or online. So the person decides to
use the internet to find what they are looking for because of the fact that it doesn't take as much

Maturing And Mature
Our decisions, good or bad define who we are in becoming an adult and maturing. Growing up is
and will always be a scary thing, but it helps us be a better person and find out who we really are as
a person. Some may argue that maturing and growing up is a bad thing and it shouldn't happen.
Many people want to stay as children and not deal with world life problems, many adults face today,
and also then drastic changes we have to go through to mature. Loss of innocence and
maturing/growing up is a good thing because we need it to be able make decisions in life and to help
us shape our way to adulthood. Most teens never grew up learning what is good or bad, and the
pressure of our peers can be exceedingly strong that we block out maturity in ... Show more content

In Go Ask Alice the an anonymous girl was full of responsibilities when she moved away with her
friend Chris and they both were very overwhelmed looking for a job and somewhere to live. "Get
up, eat, work, eat, and fall into bed exhausted. I don't even take a bath every day anymore, it's too
much trouble to wait around for the bathroom to be empty." (Anonymous, Pg.52) The anonymous
girl and her friend Chris are both tired from working so much they are exhausted and scared that
they do not have their family with them any more. Lakshmi is a girl that was sold into prostitution,
she didn't know what was going to happen to her, she thought she was going to be a maid in the city.
FOr lakshmi she had no choice but to grow up and lose all her innocence. LAkshmi did not want to
have sex with these men but had no choice. "Here at the Happiness House, there are dirty men, old

will be Monica. I will do whatever it takes to get out of here." (McCormick, Pg.227) Lakshmi
wanted to get out of there, her innocence was gone. She grew up knowing it was wrong to sleep
with a man before marriage, but had no choice. Many believe that trauma and fear make children

I also thing that
the words such as 'gay' shouldn't be used with such negative connotations, and I'm sure many others
in our society would

Negative Effects Of Working On Teenagers

  • 1. Negative Effects Of Working On Teenagers Work! Work! Work! Work! In today's society, teenagers are seeking jobs to earn money even though they have school. Sometimes they are forced to get a job because they need to help their parents for their financial problems. It is very common to teenagers to get a job at a young age. It did not really change back then about children's working at such a young age when they should be focusing on their education. Getting a job is everyone's dream because they can earn money and get experiences. Avery Neumark quote says that, " Never too early to start. Anything can happen any time," this quote relates to teenagers because they need the head start to do something in life. Sometimes the job that they have pushes teenagers to do their best. Working early has both positive and negative impact to young adults. However, that is their only way to survive in this world is to get a part–time job to at least help them. Having a job help teenagers to be on time to avoid consequences, expansion of knowledge, and realize the reality of life. A job that is common to teenagers is working at McDonalds. This is common because it is an entry level job and a good way to start. Working at McDonalds help teenagers be more attentive in listening because they need to get the customer's order right before the customer gets mad. In every job, they need to be on time because if they are on time, they have consequence. As an example of a consequence, the manager will yell at them. In an article written ... • 3. Reflection Of The Prince By Niccolo Machiavelli Sophia Diane G. Daroya 11435933 The Prince is one of the greatest work of the famous Niccolo Machiavelli. It talks about how to sustain and to obtain political power. In this book, he explained the different principalities such as the hereditary, religious, use of power and others. He also mentioned the characteristics of the prince must possess. This novel focuses on being a leader. It's not all about in a good way but also in a bad way. It's very different on other novels we know in being a leader which everything is all about being good. Machiavelli wants to point out that people cannot commit in being a good all the time because at the end they might just fail. I believe that he wrote this book not only to mention all things about a leader but also for the people to relate it in real life situation. There are different messages he brought to the people for them to learn something such as strategies, characteristic, and more. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Otherwise, if he's hated by the people, this might cause his downfall. He can be cruel but at least he has to show goodwill to his people for him to ensure his reign. It is good to be feared and to be loved. People will not dare to stand against you if they are being feared. Still, he has to make sure that he will be loved by doing things that will make people happy. This is a good strategy to remain your power because people will not hate you if you show them that you're not someone who should be hated, instead you're someone who should be respected because of good things you do for them. In a work place, you need to be balanced. You have to be strict but you still need to have a good relationship with your employees. You can give them punishment if they didn't do the right thing in their jobs but you can also give them rewards if your employees did something that are helping the ... • 5. Character Analysis Of Freddie In The Shade Were you ever nervous and bothered about changing the life you've lived the most? Freddie in the Shade, written by Pam Munoz Ryan, is about a young boy named Freddie who struggles with realizing the beauty of change and moving forward in life. Having a hard time with moving on, Freddie is left disagreeable but soon begins to let go of the past and becomes acceptable to new things coming his way. Freddie is an interesting character because he likes to have power over his own life but he tries to hold himself down to feel empathy for those he truly cares for. There are several events and examples throughout the story Freddie in the Shade, that express Freddie as a strong, caring, and kindhearted character. Freddy can be described as disagreeable at the beginning of the story although at the end of the story he becomes acceptable and open to new beginnings. For example, in the beginning of the story on page 12 the author states "For weeks, Freddie had been hibernating in his room, trying to avoid dad and Maggie. They tried to include him in every boring preparation for the baby." With the evidence, the author provides us we can predict that Freddie doesn't like when he is pushed into doing something he doesn't want to do leaving Freddie very disagreeable and stubborn. On the very first paragraph of page 11, the narrator states "Freddie hoped that the dark shades would protect him from anything else that might disrupt his life." From the statement, the author provides in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the book, House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, a girl named Esperanza moves to house on Mango Street and doesn't seem to fit in. She meets a girl named Sally at her school and becomes friends with her but Sally is not a good friend. She chooses boys over Esperanza and abandones her a couple of times to be with boys.Ezperanza cant fit in because she is growing up too slow while Sally, who is not a good friend is growing up too fast .Sandra Cisneros develops the theme through character conflicts. The theme of House on Mango Street is not to grow up too fast or too slow. Sally's relationship with boys demostratess that she is grows up too fast. Sally and Esperanza went to monkey garden but tito and his friends finessed Sally's keys and said they wont give it back unless Sally kisses them. It states ¨ one Of tito close friends said you can't get the keys back unless you kissed us and Sally pretended to be mad at first but said yes. It was that simple. "(pg 96). this proves she is growing up too fast. This will cause problems in the future because people won't take Sally seriously because of the way she acts. • 9. Competition Is Bad Essay "Losers are always in the wrong" ,it is a Chinese traditional saying. In a society where the places have people, competition is unavoidable. Competition is a part of life that can't (cannot) be avoided. Competition is a situation in which two or more people or groups are trying to get something which not everyone can have. Competition is all around us. When we are students and still studying in school, we need to compete with our classmates and schoolmates for better grade. Also, when we are doing sports and games we are trying our best to beat the other teams. When you become a (an adult) maturer and go to work, you would compete with your colleagues, (.) Furthermore, during the vacations, students study abroad to learn English for a month instead of playing video games at home. • 11. Persuasive Essay On Blind Hope Your homework is not done. You check the due date once again in disbelief that it could possibly be due in ten minutes. You wait in anguish until you come up with the wonderful idea that the teacher just might be willing to forgive today. Surely others have missed the deadline as well. You ease yourself into a mellow confidence as you decide to turn the assignment in blank. The teacher doesn't buy your story of how it was not posted in a good location and hands it back to you with a zero. It is rare that these situations ever work out. Blind hope can only lead to unforeseen consequences. Blind hope can cause one to ignore risks and look only to what good could come out of it. The rewards always seem to outweigh the risks. A good example of this is seen in people who like to gamble. They would believe that the next spin will be "the one"; it has to be. The problem is, the chances of that are almost none, and they loose money each time they go "just one more time." There are also numerous fictional stories that illustrate this, one being "Contents of a Dead Man's Pockets." In this story, the man sees his paper and feels that he could reach it if he just went out to get it. Thinking about the benefits, "He imagined himself describing it; it would make a good story at the office and, it occurred to him, would add a special interest and importance to his memorandum, which would do it no harm at all" (Finney 4). This is all fine and dandy if the paper wasn't outside his high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People around the world are adapting to this new technology and they like it, but the new technology it's destroying social interactions. I have experience situation where I work at, the place where I work is in a Mexican restaurant, they are families that come together to talk about their lives, experiences, personal event etc.... but now day's mostly young adults are on their phones and they don't pay attention. They think that their phones, iPad, music player, or any other device is more important than their family. In my own opinion when you have the time to get together as a family, they should talk about what happened today in their day, are there any problems that we can help, or even just talk. Or even more shocking, the new technology is making people more lazy than ever I would say, because for example in a situation where you have to choose to either go outside and play soccer with your friends, but instead you choose to stay inside playing soccer, but in the computer which you only have to move your hands, in the other hand if you go outside you can play and actually move your hands, legs and even talk and laugh with your friends. I myself think that it has impact my life in good and bad way. The good thing about the new technology is that I have more contact with my family in Mexico; I can connect my phone through Bluetooth in my car, I can transfer my YouTube ... Work and Life Balance How To Find That Elusive Balance Between Work and Life "Balance is beautiful." – Miyoko Ohno, Japanese bridge designer Article by Leo Babauta I have a close friend named Norm who is a great photographer and a great person in general ... recently he was telling me that all he does is work. That might sound familiar to some of you – I've certainly been there at different points in my life, although these days I have to say that I've found a pretty good balance between all the important things in my life, including work, family, and other things I'm interested in. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finding That Balance Once you've created space in your life for the things you love, it's just a matter of finding the right balance between them. You could have a life filled with all the things you love doing, but it could still be almost all work. While there's certainly nothing wrong with that if you love your work and it doesn't have negative consequences (on your health or family relationships, for example), for many people it's better to have other things balancing out their lives. Why is a balance between several things that you love better than just one thing that you love? Well, there are a number of reasons that would depend on your situation. For one thing, if you have an office job you might not be getting outdoors enough, or getting enough exercise, and your health might suffer. Another reason is that you might have family and/or friends and if you work all the time you're neglecting them – and those relationships will suffer. You might also get lonely if you work all the time. Another major problem is burnout – working all the time (or doing any activity all the time) can lead to stress and fatigue, and could make that activity less enjoyable. Variety is a good thing – it keeps life interesting. So mix things up a bit. Here are some ideas for doing that: * Schedule time blocks. Shot Techniques in the Film, Do the Right Thing Essay Shot Techniques in the Film, Do the Right Thing Spike Lee does many fascinating things from a directorial standpoint, which makes his film (dare I say, joint), Do the Right Thing so interesting to watch. Writer, director Lee makes much use of the high and low angle shots. He does this to draw clear contrasts between the two elders of the block, Da Mayor and Mother Sister and to make conflict more apparent. Mother Sister certainly believes she is on a higher moral plane than the lowly Mayor and is usually seen by way of a low–angle shot high in her window preaching down and casting criticism on the passersby, giving her an almost God–like characteristic. Briefly the two are in the same eye–level shot showing the viewer that Mother Sister and Da Mayor are very much the same. This also gives her character a much more tangible, mortal quality. They are also shown this way after Da Mayor risks his life to save a boy from being hit by a car while playing in the street, but it is not so much because the two are equals as it that the God–like Mother Sister is coming down from her high perch to grace Da Mayor with her sacred opinion that he has done a good thing. A good example of Lee using high and low angel shots to exemplify conflict is in the two encounters between Sal and Radio Raheem. Radio Raheem is shown throughout the film only with low–angle shots giving him a threatening, larger than life appearance. When Radio Raheem walks into Sal's Famous with his boom box blaring the first time it starts a huge altercation between Sal and Raheem. The camera jumps back and forth between low angle close up shots of Raheem to the reverse high angle close ups of Sal as the two yell at each other. This confrontation ends with Radio Raheem finally turning off the music and peace is restored. The second instance occurs just before and serves as the catalyst for the violent climax. Lee makes excellent use of these shots as a way of bringing the viewer into the action of the movie. Everyone wants happiness in their life, that is why most of our decisions are based on whether it will make us happy or not. This is where we underestimate the power of going through something sad or difficult. Although nobody searches for sadness, it is vital that we experience some sort of pain in our lives to balance the happy times, since there are risks of pursuing extreme happiness. Sometimes we can have too much happiness, experience happiness at the wrong time, become sad when we are looking for happiness, or even seek the wrong kind of happiness. While you may argue that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having too much happiness could end up giving you the same effect as a drug; the more you have, the more you want. Being too happy consumes us, and could also come when we do not need it. When things go wrong, we need to feel bad, it only makes sense. Feeling happy when something bad happens won't teach you anything. If you lost your job, but you're happy you lost it, then you'll never learn the importance of a job. We also become more gullible when we're happy. This may cause you to miss warning signs that you need to see, causing you to trust someone more than you should. Fear ignites the fight–or–flight response. So, being too happy to acknowledge this can create many problems. For example, if I am mindlessly walking my dog down the sidewalk, headphones in, thinking of how excited I am for the weekend, I may not notice the sketchy car that is driving up behind me. Being happy during the wrong times could make you overlook something important, and could even make you worse off than you were before. I've learned in philosophy that the more you search for happiness, the less likely you will be to find it. Epicureans believe that if you focus on what you are doing, rather than how you feel, then pleasure will come. It doesn't tell us the actions they have previously taken in regards to the problem, much about the company perks or moral, or how long the problem has been going on and it's direct effect to company production. However, it does tell us a lot about this CEO's management style just from this message. First of all, this is an e–mail. We don't know the meetings that have been called to address this issue prior to this, but by sending this in an e–mail he is making it very impersonal. The CEO here isn't showing the effort necessary to really get his point across through the means he chose. They are also very threatening, by deciding to take away privileges such as the Associate Center and the Stock Purchase Program instead of providing incentives for improvement. The CEO for this company needs to take responsibility for his part in allowing the culture of his company to facilitate this type of behavior in its employees. • 41. Summary Of Nicholas Carr In this article, Nicholas Carr attempts to explain how the way information is presented on the Internet has changed our way of thinking. He uses many different methods to do this, playing on the audience's emotions as he uses anecdotes, research, and his own observations to try and convince the audience that the Internet has been detrimental to our thinking and learning processes. For the most part I believe his argument is ineffective because of his organization, his choice of sources, and his tone. Carr starts the article with a quote from 2001: A Space Odyssey. He explains the quote, talking about how the human is rewiring the computer, but then he parallels that with how computers have rewired his brain. I didn't know who Nicholas Carr was, so I researched him. He is a highly respected author who has written for the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. It appears that he relies heavily on his fame to convince readers of his point of view, because he uses his opinion quite often. Admittedly, he is something of an expert on the subject, but if the reader, like I, doesn't know who he is, then a lot of this article is not effective. After stating his opinion, he then proceeds to talk about how his friends have echoed his sentiments, saying that they can't read whole books anymore. The Importance Of Pride In The Short Story 'The Scarlet Ibis' Therefore, pride is an unatractive quality because it can cause people to only be focused on themselves, destroy relationships, and harm others. "There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. 'Good pride' represents our dignity and self–respect. 'Bad pride' is the deadly sin of our superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance." The author of this quote, John C. Maxwell, a world known leader. He is a renowned author for his inspirational books about improving one's quality of life, strategies that help business people, entrepreneurs, achieve person success in work and in life. He has changed lives throughout the world, and continues to make a lasting impression. He always motivates his fans to have a good life ahead of them. John C. Maxwell is saying, pride can be a wonderful thing, but can lead to, self destruction and harm of others. This belief is stated clearly through the short story, The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst. Although pride may be motivating, the result may be for the wrong reason. Some might argue that pride is an attractive quality because it motivates people to achieve there goals. In the scarlet Ibis the narrator States, "Once I had succeeded in teaching doodle to walk, I began to believe in my own infallibility and I prepared a terrific development program for him, unknown to Mama and Daddy, of course pg 173." This explains that the narrators pride forced him to help Doodle achieve his goals, and help him to be more normal. Although pride can be a good thing to have, there is very strong evidence stating that it only tears people down little by little. In the Scarlet Ibis it says, "When Doodle was five years old, I was embarrassed at having a brother of that age you couldn't walk, so I set out to teach him... Doodle told them it was I who had taught him to walk, so everyone wanted to hug me, and I began to cry... they did not know that I did it for myself; that pride, who's slave I was, spoke to me louder than all their voices, and that Doodle only walked because I was ashamed of having a crippled brother Pg 173." The opinions vary from person to person and generation to generation. Two opinions that we'll look at specifically are from Andrew Sullivan, a blogger and columnist for the Sunday Times of London, and Anna Akbari, a professor at New York University. When looked at briefly, Sullivan and Akbari's views seem to be like the opposite sides of the same coin. The music you listen to is completely to your likes, the things you read all agree with your personal views thus creating less challenging and thought provoking experiences, and the people you 'meet' aren't by chance, but chosen by a friend request or because you decide to take out the ear buds and talk. The happy chances of hearing something new, learning something new, and meeting someone completely different from you, according to Sullivan, are drastically affected by our technology. If one was to ask an everyday teenager of this generation, they would probably say something to the effect of "It's a digital platform that helps everyone stay connected no matter what they're doing." However, if one was to ask someone from the prior generation what social media is, they might say "It leads to the youth of America becoming more: anti–social, depressed, self–conscious, and more than likely destroys the chances of someone making a career for themselves later in life." So which answer is correct? Well, surprisingly enough the prior generation is. Social media leaves a digital footprint that can't be erased no matter what precautions are taken. In today's society, the digital footprint that someone leaves is seen as an ongoing resume for their future, whether they like it or not. It's seen too many times, whether it's in the movies or it happens to a friend, when someone goes for an opportunity such as a job interview, one of the biggest things employers take into account is what they post on their social media pages. It was reported that in 2015, one in ten job hunters are rejected due to what they post on social media. Whether it be complaints, inappropriate photos, etc., it was posted on the World Wide Web for everyone to observe. Additionally, everything that is/was posted on the internet is there for forever, and nothing can be done about that. The type of digital footprint that today's society is leaving is viewed as most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Essay on Positive and Negative Effects of Technology in... To Plug in or Not to Plug in Do personal technologies like phones, iPods, and computers connect or disconnect us? The opinions vary from person to person and generation to generation. Sullivan argues from a more personal standpoint that personal technology shuts us out from the world. Akbari, on the other hand, sees technology and our personal devices as a way to open the world up to us and provides facts and results from professional studies that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What Sullivan repeatedly revolves around is this whole idea of technology creating our own world, that of which we have complete control. This ability to control our own world becomes narcissistic and eliminates the serendipity of life, or the happy accidents that you could run into. With having control of your own world through technology, everything is specifically tailored to you. We end up living in this virtual reality instead of the real world and we deprive ourselves of the actual experience of really living and being human. By contrast, Akbari says, "We are on a connection journey that happens through the symbiotic relationship of in–person encounters and electronically mediated interactions." And so I believe it safe to say that this concept of technology creating a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Sports Help Younger Kids Build Character P.E. Sports help Younger Kids Build Character Going to school is not only about learning and making good grades. It is also about making relationships and learning how to handle situations. In most schools, sports are a way to learn these things by participating and making the best of it. Even if one is not good and they always get picked last, sports can have an impact on their life to get better and shock their classmates. In the article "I pity those children forced to do Zumba at school," Jemima Lewis makes an ineffective argument through her methods of handling opposing points, giving good sources, and writing an argument that is clearly understood. Jemima Lewis, who hated sports in school, makes the argument that all schools should ban sports in PE class because they are a waste of time, especially if someone is not good at them. She was the kid that was always picked last and hoped that the ball never came her way. Jemima dreaded going to PE class and throughout her childhood despised every sport that the school had forced the kids to play during that one–hour class. She came across an article written by Neil Rollings stating that instead of having contact sports, schools should have Zumba or Yoga class so kids would not be judged on their athletic ability and strengths. Jemima liked the idea that sports should be taken out of the equation, but she found it worse that the schools would add a Zumba or Yoga class. Being a nerd in school, Jemima Lewis goes ... • 55. Persuasive Essay : Bad Decisions And Consequences Everybody makes stupid mistakes that could have been prevented, but nobody in this world is close to perfect and will never be perfect. Good can actually come from making mistakes, by doing something wrong you are corrected and shown how to fix it by someone who has already made your mistake. Growing up I have made plenty of terrible decisions that lead to consequences in the end. Also, I have seen many of my close friends and family make mistakes that got them into trouble, but afterwards they learned a valuable lesson. I am going to tell you a story about one of my close friends who made a mistake and took full responsibility of his action and by doing so learned a valuable lesson that he can now pass on to people in his life. During the summer I fly down to Arkansas to visit my dad and work at a place called Camp Yorktown bay, which is a christian camp with different ages each week. We provide several different activities there and one of them is boats. At boats you can do any sport possible behind a boat that the kids want to learn and we the staff will teach them how. Our oldest age group, which is the last week we do an overnight trip on the boats. My Friend Chandler was on his way to fill up the boat after the long day of work. It was getting dark out and pretty soon he had to drive with knowledge of where the shallow spots were on the lake because you could no longer see the markers pointing out the shallow water. The mistake that he made was mixing up where he thought he was so he had no idea he was coming upon a very shallow part, next thing we he knows the boat makes a terrifying noise and it stops moving. I remember him telling me that he got really scared, and he had realized that the boat had ran aground. It wasn't that big of a shallow spot so by backing up he got free. The boat had seemed fine so he kept driving, when he got back to camp he realized that he had to tell our boss what had happened. The next morning right away Chandler went to our boss Jeff and started explaining what had happened that night. He took full responsibility and told my boss that he would try and pay for the damages somehow. But by being honest with him and not lying Jeff said that he did not have to pay any money for ... • 57. Persuasive Speech On Homework Being a kid is not easy, trying to juggle sports, school, and a social life is stressful and time consuming. We have lives outside of the classroom and keeping track of our work is very difficult, but there are ways to help keep the two balanced. Here are some helpful ways to keep your school life managed and still have a productive lifestyle. I've been in school for a little while now and one of the things I dreaded the most was the teacher saying "Your homework for tonight is..."Hearing those words just ruined my mood. However, homework may not be the most enjoyable thing in the world it is important. It's 10% of your grade but also allows to practice more on what you're learning. Once you get home, homework should be the first thing on your mind so you can just get it out of the way. When working on homework you should definitely turn off all electronic devices so it won't get in the way of you focusing. Another thing that could be distracting is family. As much fun as family might be, having someone there when you're trying to do classwork could get you really off topic. I have a cousin who I definitely adore and we are super close but once we get to talking there is just no stopping us. Keeping a distance from them will keep you on task and you will also get your work done faster. Once that is out of the way you can have all the time to socialize. Ever been so stressed out about a test before? Well guess what, you're not alone. Test and exams are so stressful and sometimes they could either make or break your grade. Having that kind of pressure put on you doesn't feel good but there are ways you can prep and not be so freaked out. A key thing that goes along with studying is the same with homework, turn off all devices that have nothing to do with school. For instances phones, with all this new social media coming out all you want do is snapchat friends and see what they are doing. That'll distract you from studying. Besides devices being shut down, having something calm and relaxing playing can help the brain focus more and do better. Playing classical music or maybe sounds of nature will be soothing. • 61. Is Gentrification A Good Thing But Withal Deplorable? Gentrification is a very popular topic on whether the fact that it's a good thing and or a bust for neighborhoods. It's not only a moral in society, it's happening around everyone. As Urban communities are being affected, homes being destroyed and bought out by the government, residents are faced with the struggle to stay in a home and not be relocated. A man named Justin Davidson, a music critic and a background for architecture, knows a bit about this topic. With his knowledge about architecture, he gives a speech, "Is Gentrification All Bad" and he understands how gentrification is good but withal deplorable. Davidson gives statistics backing up his justifiable answer. He gives plenty of reasons from other sources about the pros and cons, but his own personal belief is that gentrification can be good. With that, Davidson intends to speak to the people of neighborhoods who think that they need this type of improvement. Personally, I don't think I'm a part of the attended audience because my neighborhood is well developed and displayable. Davidson isn't afraid to show the good and bad about his beliefs on gentrification. He even says in his essay, "Yet gentrification can be either a toxic or a balm," Davidson explains that statement by stating that some neighborhoods can upscale in a fast way and prices sky rocketing, not letting former citizens have a chance to reside there. Also, he explains how there's a slower rate in which gentrification increases and could take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I ate breakfast and dinner which I ate fast so I could go and practice more. My mom and dad got me a soccer net and soccer disc. I hang up one of the disc and shoot at it until I hit it at least 3 times. The coach told my parents that even if someone makes the team in means they could play but they might not. As long as I make the team I could have a change to play I can still practice hopefully I can play in the games too. She said that she only wants 15 on the team. 11 on the field and 3 for the subs incase somebody gets hurt or the just need a break. For the one day that I was at this school it went by really fast. All of my teachers are really nice so that helps. I hope today goes by just as fast. But nope it is going by so slow. All I can think about is tryouts. I need to stop before I sike myself out. That had never happened before but I was always playing with the same girls and the same coach. This year it is different girls different coach. I can't let all that practice go to waste. Pokemon Is The Most Successful Mobile Game Of All Time You may have noticed an influx of people wandering around your neighborhood or perhaps you may have seen packs of young people crowding around areas of interest that would normally be easygoing. Whats going on? It 's called Pokemon GO, a mobile game based off Nintendo 's Pokémon – and has turned out to be huge cultural phenomenon. The game uses the GPS on your mobile device to track and capture Pokémon located at various locations around the world. One of the unique features of the game is that a Pokémon can be caught while using Augmented reality (AR) – you can catch a Pokémon while looking at the real world location of the Pokémon. While Pokémon has been around since the 90s it has never seen this much success – Pokémon GO has become the most successful mobile game of all time. Since the game requires players to physically get up and look for Pokémon it has been praised by some for its ability to encourage people to be more active, it has millions of people are roaming around at all hours of the day actively looking for that next Pokémon. Often times players can be seen hanging around PokéStops – notable locations in the real world that are marked in blue on your in–game map. These stops can be neighborhood playgrounds, historical landmarks, and even local businesses. The thought of getting people to be more active is great, and the game actually does just that – all you need to do is take a look around your neighborhood. It has gotten to the point that people are looking on either their computers, tablets, or phones for the majority of their day. This has affected every one of those people and is going to continue to affect the new generations our lives are going to become more and more technology based. The biggest way that this has affected people is by being able to read off of the interned whenever they please, and by being able to do this both the cognitive abilities and intellectual development of people have been affected and it will also affect these aspects in children who are growing up in today's world. A way in which the internet has affected people is by weakening their cognitive abilities, this is done in multiple ways. One of those ways is particularly being noticed in the children of today, that is them being more worried about if they will like it rather than how long material is. This is mainly a problem when the person is looking for research, either in a book or online. So the person decides to use the internet to find what they are looking for because of the fact that it doesn't take as much work. Then when the person finds something that is even a little bit related to what they are looking for, they stop, even if it isn't the best article.
