This is my audience profile for my preliminary task

1. School magazine audience profile
My target audience is between the ages 16-18. The magazine is aimed at sixth
formers who are in full time education, studying levels and hoping to go to university.
The gender in which my magazine is aimed at is male and female. Our sixth formers
are of both genders therefore I feel it will be more appealing to the readers if it is
targeted at both male and female students. The hobbies and interests of my
audience are sports, technology like social networking, using their phones and using
blackberry messenger. They have a very keep interest in the social networking sites
facebook and twitter and generally enjoy being with their friends, socializing and
having fun. They like meeting new people and particularly the girls like to keep up to
date with the latest fashion and like to know all the ‘hot’ gossip. The females which
this magazine are aimed at have a very keen interest in fashion, they read lots of
gossip magazines and like to see the styles of the season. The males which will read
this magazine enjoy sports such as football and rugby.
My readers are fun bubbly people who enjoy having a good time. They are stylish
and like to have a lot of fun however they also work very hard during school in order
to achieve their dreams of going to university at the end of year 13. My readers are
very dedicated to their school work however they balance their social life. They are
very keen on extending their education by going onto further education in university
or achieving an apprenticeship. They see success at a level as a means of achieving
this. The needs of my reader are to be informed of the latest trends, gossip and to
know what is going on around their school and upcoming events and to learn how
to cope with the stresses of sixth form and to feel confident. My reader will use this
magazine to gain tips and advice which they may need. They will also use this as
they may need time out from their studies to relax. This will not only help them to
relax they will also be receiving some sort of information so it is not only entertaining it
is also educational.
